The scariest thing in the world is to go through life without really doing anything that matters. So many of us are so focused on "being good" that we don't actually do good. We must get out of our comfort zone, get rid of our distractions, and and get to work doing good. Because it takes all of us to build something truly great.
It's easy to feel alone when we're struggling through life. But, the truth is that we aren't alone. Other people have been where we are, but we need people to share their story with us to help us along. When we refuse to get out of our comfort zone and share our experiences, we rob people of the opportunity to find Jesus. Our story can change someone else's story when we open up about where we've been.
Serving others is not optional, we are commanded by God to show love to our neighbors by serving them. Serving is our rent for being on Earth. Serving not only brings joy to others, but brings meaning to our lives.
Meals slow things down. Some of us don’t like that. We like to get things done. But, meals force you to be people oriented instead of task oriented. And, let’s be honest, people don’t want to be your projects. Sharing a meal isn’t the only way to build relationships, but it is one of the best ways.
Most of us struggle to listen. We think we know what people need. But, we can learn what people truly need if actually take time to listen to what we say. If we want to bless the people in our lives, we need to start by actually listening.
It's easy to get caught up in the day to day busyness of life and miss the greater purpose God has for us. And looking at the problems of people around us can be overwhelming. But getting started is more simple than you think. A life with meaning in the mundane can happen when we begin each day with prayer, asking God how we can be the answer to someone else's prayers today.
Did you know you can wake up every morning with passion and purpose. Jesus' mission was to help everyone discover their true purpose through a relationship with Him, and Jesus' mission is our mission. So, do you go out of your way to avoid people or to bless people?
Everyone wants to be happy. But, do your everyday habits really make you feel happy? Focusing only on what makes you happy right now will leave you feeling empty.
But, God created you for more.
You can do the right thing with your life when you believe God has planned greater things for your life.
We often choose what we want now over what we want most. We need to choose the pain of discipline over the pain of regret.
People always want somebody in their corner but deep down, most don’t truly believe others or Jesus would be for them. People won’t know that Jesus is FOR them until they know that we are FOR them. Followers of Jesus should show others that God is for them by serving, relating, and reaching out to others.
When we look to the world to help us find hope and purpose, we will be disappointed. When we look to the world for help, we rob ourselves of God’s hope. No matter what your background or your history, God is faithful to those who choose to be faithful to him.
To overcome temptation we need to submit ourselves to God and resist the devil. We must recognize sin and flee from it to keep from saying "Oops I did it again."
We often spend so much time thinking about "one day" that we miss today, and we can get so focused on what we don't have that we miss what we do have. When we come to Jesus, it's fine to come asking what He can do for you. But, eventually, you have to move to asking what He can do through you.
What does it mean to be a child of God? When you look at your reflection, do you see God? Or, do you see the sum of all the things you do? When you're a child of God, your purpose is to know God and to make Him known.
We are often told to follow our hearts. However, our feelings might be real, but they aren't always reliable. Because of this, our emotions should be like gauges and not guides. We can truly find peace not by following our hearts but by following God's heart.
The decisions you make today will determine the stories you make tomorrow. Sometimes, though, the best decision is to go when it would be easier to stay. In the biblical story of Abraham, it would have been easy for him to stay in his homeland, but God told him to go. Like Abraham, we must step toward our destiny. But, to do go somewhere takes leaving somewhere.
If you aren't going in the right direction, there's no way you'll end up in the right direction. The story of Cain and Abel gives us five questions to determine our spiritual direction. Are you walking closer to God or wandering away from God?
It doesn't take much looking around to figure out that our world is broken. There's many things that we run to looking for hope, but there is only one thing that can truly provide the hope we are missing. God promised us that we can trust him.
God has a perfect plan and purpose for our lives, but we mess it up by trying to create our own purpose. No one will ever ask you to complete your top priorities. They will only ask you to complete theirs. We have to stay within the purpose of our creator to truly be truly fulfilled.
God SPOKE and the universe sprung to life. And, even though life can often be confusing and frustrating, the same God that spoke the world into existence is the same God that wants to speak into your life. Because of this, we can choose to trust that God is moving even when we don't know what He is doing.
For many, work is just something we do to pay the bills. But, if we approach work the right way, God can use our efforts greatly to show God's love to those around us.
No matter what phase your family is in, you’ve discovered one thing...though the days can feel long, the years really are short. From sleepless nights to managing screen time to an empty nest, figuring out family life isn’t easy and the truth is that every phase seems to be different. However, we forget “You have less time than you think and more influence than you realize”
You may not think you are a leader, but, if you influence others, you're a leader. Unfortunately, our culture is really bad at leadership. The people in your life need a leader not a ruler, and the only real way to lead is by laying down your life in sacrifice.
No one likes to be told what to do. Maybe that’s why we struggle with the Bible’s teaching on submitting to others. But, Jesus left us an example of how to submit without being a doormat. If we follow his example of submission, it could change our families forever.
What makes a great comeback story is how hopeless a situation looks. When Jesus came back from the dead, He forever provided hope for the most hopeless of situations. While there's nothing we can do to earn God's acceptance, there's also nothing we had to do to earn it, either. Jesus already took care of it on the cross.
Don't spend your life aiming at the wrong target. Don't aim at a good target. Aim at a God target. If you're a parent, your greatest goal should be to disciple your family.
Most people go through life busy, bored, or beaten down. But, God has a purpose for your life. You weren't designed to sit on the sidelines. You were created to contribute and share God's love with others.
Most of us wait for some sort of sign to say that we are supposed to tell others about Jesus. But, the Bible tells followers of Christ to just go and look for opportunities to share about Jesus while we are going about our everyday lives. Be intentional everyday to look for a chance to tell the people in your life about God's love for them.
A life without purpose is boring, but a life with the wrong purpose is wasted. Don't waste your life. God's mission is those that are missing from His family, and that's the purpose He gives us...to go embrace people wherever they are.
Do you feel your life hasn’t become all that you’d hope it would be by now? Maybe making a change seems overwhelming because you’re already busy and stressed out? At C3 Church, we understand that frustration and want to help you experience God’s greater purpose for your life. We believe Jesus’ simple approach to everyday life will bring you the hope you’re needing and the purpose you were created for.
We all want to know what we need to do to be better, but maybe it’s not about doing more? Maybe it’s less about what we need to do and more about learning to accept what Jesus has already done for us.
Most people in our culture have a warped view of who Jesus is. During “Not My Jesus” we are discovering who Jesus really is.
Most people in our culture have a warped view of what strength is. So, when we hear that Jesus was meek, we might think he was weak. But, meekness isn't weakness, it's power under control. Let's learn from Jesus how we can become meek without being weak.
It's our choice whether we follow Jesus or not. But, if we choose to follow Him, we don't get to choose what following Jesus looks like. We like to think of Jesus as being safe. He is good, but He isn't safe. If you want to step toward your destiny, you have to step away from your security.
Too often, our view of Jesus is molded into what we want instead of allowing Jesus to mold us into who He created us to be. We can’t know who we are or our purpose until we know who Jesus really is. If you make Jesus into what you want, you’ll miss the Jesus that you need.
Everyone has a job to do, but no one has to do it alone. God created on purpose, so we can live on purpose.
Difficulties and adversities viciously force all their might on us and cause us to fall apart, but they are necessary elements of individual growth and true potential. C3'er Melissa Pemberton shares her story of addiction, abuse, and rock bottom, how God brought her through it, and how God is using her to make a positive impact because of it.
If you find yourself struggling with the same old things, it’s probably because you keep trying to change from the outside in. You think if you change what you do, you’ll be able to change who you are. God doesn’t teach us to change from the outside in, He teaches us to change from the inside out. When you believe who God says you are, you can become who God created you to be.
Do you make the same new year’s resolutions year after year because you struggle to follow through? Do you have bad habits, sin, and personal junk that just never seems to go away? These actions are like cobwebs. We keep trying to clean them out, but they come right back sooner or later. Why? Because in order to get rid of the cobwebs, we need to kill the spiders that are making them. We need to deal with the root cause of our actions.
In our lives, we should look back and reflect on our past with gratefulness. But, we should also look forward. We must number our days, so we don't waste our days.
When we think we cause our own successes, any failure will make us feel worthless. But, the good news of Christmas is that, when we feel worthless, we can remember that God thought we were worth it.
We allow the mess around Christmas time to suck the fun out of the holidays. But, we're pretty sure Christmas is supposed to be messy....the very first one was. This Christmas, embrace the mess and have a little fun.
Joy would be the last word most of us would use to describe the "most wonderful time of the year," but Christmas really is all about joy. Through opening our hearts, we can experience the joy God wants us to experience this Christmas.
There will always be stressful things in our life, but the secret of contentment is that you can find joy, peace, and purpose in Jesus no matter what circumstance you're in if you make God's love the source of your life and make sharing God's love the course of your life.
Many parents transfer stress, anxiety, worry, and fear to their kids, but we can learn to deal with the root causes of these things in our life before it negatively impacts those around us by casting all our anxiety on God instead of others.
Many of us spend so much time and effort worrying about things that aren't actually real. We make up the worst possible scenarios in our minds and stress and worry about them like they are real. Imagine, though, what could happen if we took the time and energy we spend creating fake bad things in our mind and used that time and effort to create actual good things in our world. This draws us closer to the only One who can give us true peace...Jesus.
Feel like you’re at the end of your rope? Feeling stressed out and overwhelmed? You can never get rid of all your stress, but you can Stress Less. Check out this message and the surprising way God tells us that we can experience peace.
We have an enemy that hates us and wants to destroy everything great in our life. The bad news is that our selfish pride is what gives the devil his power. The good news, though, is that when we submit to God and resist the devil, our enemy, the devil, will flee from us.
The devil knows your name but calls you by you sin. God knows your sin but calls you by your name. Who are you going to listen to?
Yes, he’s strong, but there’s one power the devil can’t beat—and it’s on your side. Learn how to answer When the Devil Knocks.
You were made for greatness, but there are things in your life that will trip you up and keep you from the life God created you to live. In our last week of the G.O.A.T., Jimmy shares with us the #1 thing that will cause us to stumble.
God has put something within all of us that desires to live a life of significance. But, being great isn't something we can do, it's something God does through us. We have to be forgiven, focused, and fearless to see God doing something great with our life.
The true greats in life are those who, even if they lose hope, never lose their faith. These people are great because the difference between average and great is how you choose to serve in the wait. No matter what you are facing today, remember that God is still good, He's still powerful, and He still loves you. Even if you can't figure out what He's doing, you can still have faith in Him.
Whether it’s in music, politics, or sports, people love debating who’s the greatest of all time. Who’s the G.O.A.T. Many can be great, but only one can be the greatest. History is filled with men and women who have done incredible things and lived extraordinary lives. But, according to Jesus, there’s one person that stands above them all. Jesus said there has never been anyone greater than John the Baptist. He’s the GREATEST of all time. He’s…the Goat.
"The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to the inmost parts." Gossip can be enticing, but it will also damage the person being gossiped about, the hearer of the gossip, and the person spreading gossip. The best way to stop gossip is to guard your ears and shut your mouth.
Most of us claim to hate being lied to, but, for people who say we hate lying, we sure do a lot of it. We lie because we are selfish. When we lie and deceive, we prove that what matters most to me is me. Unfortunately, sooner or later, our sin of dishonesty will destroy everything that's good in our life. We need to move from tearing people down to build ourselves up to being honest with each other...because we're all in this together.
Are you a fault finder or a hope dealer? Our words can bring life or can bring destruction. Our words are powerful. Even the seemingly small things we say can offer tremendous hope or do incredible damage. How critical are your words?
When we complain, we become more and more negative and push people away. We don't actually fix anything when we just complain about it. But, God wants us to complain to Him because, if we don't work things out with God, we will take them out on someone else.
Understanding the Bible becomes a whole lot easier when we realize that it's all about Jesus.
Most of us know we should read and learn the Bible, but it can be intimidating to know how to actually study it. Jimmy shares how we should approach reading the Bible by remembering that God wants something before for us, obedience + faithfulness = success, and greater commitment requires greater commitment.
When it comes right down to it, if the Bible isn't true and reliable, everything we do as Christians and churches are a waste of time. In this message, Trent shares why we can trust that God's Word is reliable.

What do you do when your life falls apart? Next time can be better than last time, but not just because you want it to be. You are not finished yet. What will you do with the blank pages? The choices you make today will lead you one way or another, but when you know who you are following, you will always be headed in the right direction.

In the final week of our Bad Advice series, Trent shares with us the easy ways to know you have become dissatisfied.
No one ever wakes up and decided that they want to destroy their marriage, so how and why does it happen? As we continue our Bad Advice series we will explore the steps to committing adultery.
How many of you ever woke up and said, “I’m really going to screw up my life today? Nobody wakes up wanting to mess up their marriage or overdosing or starting a new bad habit but it happens. Today we will take a closer look at the steps that allow us to fall into this trap.
“How did I end up here?” Behind every mess of harmful habits and rough relationships, we can look back and see where we got on the wrong track. In week 1 of our new series Bad Advice we will look at the steps involved in drifting away from God.
The Good Life isn’t something that happens to you, it’s something that happens in you and through you. Everyone gives something but not everyone is generous. We live in a scarcity mindset as opposed to an abundance mindset.
What if the good life isn't about how much we can get but how much we could give? God blesses us to bless others.
If we're honest, most of us like being served. We like it when others do things for us. But, the Good Life is about more than just what other people can do for us...it's about how we can serve others. In fact, a Christian who doesn't serve doesn't exist because Jesus served.
What's your burden? What upsets you that maybe others don't seem to get as worked up about? Are you willing to do something about it? Change for good. Change for life. That's the good life.
After the glam of the 80's, the 90's saw a period of time where image didn't matter nearly as much. People were more open to share their pain and frustration. Listen as we uncover what to do with the baggage we carry.

It’s inevitable that we are all going to fall and get knocked down from the hill at times. We also know that the higher the hill the harder the fall. But, no matter how hard you’ve fallen or what major things you think you’ve lost, there is a way to get back the most important thing you need..your relationship with God. This morning, Trent will be sharing two things we all need to do to get right with God after we mess up.
The enemy is going to come against you. We are all in a fight that can often times cause us to feel helpless and like an underdog. However, like David we should be surprised or fear what comes as us. At the end of the day we all have an advantage if we just learn to use it. This morning, Trent will be sharing the advantage that every underdog has.
Using Goliath as an example of life. The enemy is going to come against you. However, if we can understand how the enemy works, then we can fight and be victorious. This morning, Trent will be taking a common story in the Bible to show how the enemy continues to attack us and how we can fight back the right way.
God expects us to grow in our gifts. We typically look at the gifts of others or want the gifts in our own lives to grow without realizing the grind behind it. There is always a background behind every blessing. We always see the glory without seeing the story. This morning, Trent will be giving us four things that God uses from our background to grow our gifts.
What was it about this young man that caused God to overlook the ones who were at least on the outward appearance, more qualified? David had the heart of a champion. David was the epitome of the saying “its not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog. David had the qualities and characteristics to be a leader, to be a king, to be a champion. This morning we are going to take a look at what it takes to have the heart of a champion.
Easter is the time of year when most people like to buy new clothes and wear their Sunday best. However, it’s not just Easter where we focus on what we are wearing. What if the Bible might suggest we are wearing the wrong thing every single day. This Easter Sunday, we are going to look at not only “What are you wearing?” but more importantly…”Who are you wearing?”
We all have the power to make an investment that could change someone's life forever. A simple invitation to church is maybe the best investment we can ever make. The week before Easter Sunday, we want to challenge all C3ers to step out of their comfort zone and realize that we are the only plan God made for taking the good news to the world.
God wants us to dream really big, but He also typically calls us to start really small. Some people love to plan and dream big, but they're often too lazy to do even the smallest thing for God to move. Others just continue in a rut because they have no dream or big vision of what God may want to do in their life.
All of our families have problems. However, did you know that there is a trend in our country that sadly can be found in every marriage and every home. More importantly, this is one trend that can truly ruin your marriage and family if you allow it. Looking at possibly the worst marriage in all of the Bible, this morning Trent will be talking about all the wrong things this couple did to allow their family to slip and how we all can prevent it.
If you are in any relationship, you are going to fight. Healthy couples, though, will fight clean. Unhealthy couples will fight dirty. Healthy couples will work toward resolution. Unhealthy couples fight for victory. This morning, Trent will be sharing how the biggest problem with fighting for victory is that even if one of us wins, we actually both still lose. How can we not our relationship slip to the Frenemies stage and learn to win together.
A marriage can be the most fulfilling thing in the world. But, if you let it slip, it can also be the most miserable thing in the world. When you marry someone, you’re committed to doing life with that person for as long as you both shall live. But, the problem is, life isn’t always pixie sticks and snowflakes. To say life can be tough sometimes would be an understatement. Life can be devastating. It can be crushing. It can you hurt, confused, and drained. But God has given us someone to remind us to keep going. To keep fighting. To remember what He can do. To remember what He’s done for us already.
The very first thing that will make any relationship start to slip is when we actually think the relationship is the answer. This morning, Trent will be giving us three ways we can tell if we are putting undue pressure on our relationship from the story of Jacob and Rachel...and Leah.
Having confidence sometimes makes all the difference in the world to what you are trying to accomplish. Did you know that the Bible has a lot to say about confidence? However, for most of us, we struggle at least in one area or another on having confidence. This morning, we’ll be looking at what the Bible really says about confidence and with the help of a few nfl stars, figure out how to increase the right kind of confidence in our own lives.
When we think about someone being “enthusiastic”, we probably think about someone filled with excitement for a subject or cause. But, what if being enthusiastic is more about being in God and filled with God. This morning, Trent will be discussing the danger of allowing our spiritual enthusiasm to drift towards apathy and how to prevent it.
Generosity is a heart issue. We live in a world that is consumed by selfish ambition. How generous are you? How much do you give of your time, your talent, and your treasure? Lack of generosity reveals your spiritual maturity and gives us a snapshot of your heart!
Gratitude is a game changer. In fact, many experts say that gratitude is the value that unlocks so many other positive values. Gratitude makes you generous, gratitude makes you encouraging, gratitude makes you thankful. Gratitude unlocks so many other positive qualities that we would be crazy not to become more grateful. However, the tragedy is for many people, they never will experience a true heart of gratitude. It’s time to be grateful. This morning, Trent will be sharing three statements that will help all of us be more grateful this year.
All over the world today, it seems like people are looking for a reason to be critical. They're looking for a reason to be negative. It's almost as if it helps people feel better to be incredibly negative. We can even be negative towards ourselves with our thoughts and words. The reality is there are a lot of things going wrong in the world, but we are not of the world. It’s time to be optimistic. This morning, Trent will be sharing four reasons that we are optimistic not based on how we feel, but based on what God says.
Like most of Whoville, Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. However, others seem to go into full Grinch mode during the holidays. But what if all of us have a little more Grinch in us than we realize? Using the story of Herod, this morning Trent will be giving us 3 Christmas Grinch questions that we can answer to make sure our hearts aren’t too small.
Just like Clark in Christmas vacation we are all waiting on Christmas. Christmas always feels like it takes forever to get here and then is gone in the blink of an eye. While we wait on Christmas, let’s examine some of the characters from the real Christmas story and see the transformations that were made in their lives while they waited.
Want your friends or co-workers to quote the Bible? All you have to do is say that you think someone’s choices or belief system is wrong and you will almost be guaranteed to hear the common phrase, “Do not judge others”. Even if someone doesn’t believe the Bible, they can still typically quote this one verse. If Jesus said, “Do not judge” then doesn’t that settle it or could this be another Urban Legend? This morning, we will be looking at what Jesus actually said when he said, “Do not judge”.
I wonder if this is God’s will for my life?. If God wants us to live for Him and in His will, then why does it almost seem elusive at times? What if the idea of God having a blueprint for your life is more of an Urban Legend than Biblically accurate. What if God’s Will is more like a game plan. This Sunday we are going to explore the important differences between the two viewpoints and the implications of each. While discovering what the scriptures actually say about God's Will and practical advice to avoid the most common missteps and misconceptions regarding God's will.
For most of faith is confidence. When we say, 'You gotta have faith," we mean "Think positively." But biblical faith has more to do with our actions than our feelings. "Faith is not a skill we master: It's not an impenetrable shield that protects us from life's hardships and trial. It's not a magic potion that removes every mess. However, the Bible does teach that we have to have it to please God. Faith doesn’t fix every problem...but it does fix our biggest problem, the only thing that really matters, our relationship with God.
Urban legends typically start with something that did have some truth to it, but it gets distorted and changed over time. Spiritually, there are also several things that do have some truth to them, but if we are not careful can also do more harm than good to our faith. The problem is that God doesn’t want us to pursue happiness...He want us to pursue Him.
Is there anything as creepy as an old record player that seems to continue to repeat the same song over and over? Our minds also tend to do the same thing with our fears. We continue to play them over and over, many times tormenting us or leaving us paralyzed in our fears. But what if someone labeled and identified all the fear tracks on the album in your mind. Would it be possible to live a fear free life? This weekend, Trent will be exposing “Fear’s Greatest Hits” and how to keep the record from repeating in your head.
We all have vampires in our lives. They're not the ones with pale skin and blood-thirsty fangs - but they do suck the life out of us. They live in your city, across the street and maybe even under your own roof. So how do you love the people who drain you? How do you handle your dysfunctional relationships? How do you make it work when all you want to do is run? This Sunday, we are going to learn how to hug a vampire.
In this day and age, it seems like there are enemies around every corner trying everyday to ruin our lives. It feels like we are always just one step away from being attacked. But, what if our biggest threat isn’t someone or something else out to get us. What if the most dangerous thing we face from day to day is ourselves? The biggest threat to the life God has created us for is the beast that lives within each of us, but we can learn from David how we can finally break free from beast.
As a kid, most people feared the dark and the thought of a monster hiding in the closet or under the bed. As adults, we find that is was all made up in our heads, yet we all still have fears or anxieties that seem real to us but are actually needless or not real at all. We all have certain fears that consume us. During these times we can often ask, “Jesus, don’t care if we drown?” This Sunday, we are going to take some simple steps to becoming brave.
One of our biggest struggles with money and finances is our own mentality. We all have a M.O.R.E mentality that involves Maintain, Options, Reluctance and being Entitled. However, what if we could realize that God wants you to have a M.O.R.E mentality but in a way that will change the way you view finances for the rest of your life.
I think most people think happiness is something that the few lucky actually find. People will even say I wish I could be happy like them. So the question becomes, Is happiness dependent on whatever life throws our way or do we have a say in the matter? We can find peace amongst chaos, contentment despite limitations, and joy even in our lowest moments. It all comes down to the Perspective Principle.
This message is designed to help us take advantage of the few areas that we as parents can control. There are truly so few things in parent that we can control and change the outcome of, however there are a few. I cant make my kids grow up and love God but I can let them see my relationship with God and hopefully they will desire to have one as well. We need to trust God with our children and understand they are a gift from him. With all the uncertainties of life, parenting is overwhelming and too many times we bring added stress and anxiety in to our lives.
Early on as Christians, we base everything on the big stuff and changing what we do to make bigger changes in our lives. However, as we get older as a follower, we realize that changing not only the small things but even more changing how we think is one of the most powerful things we can do to change. A ton of people are overwhelmed and they would instantly go to multiple reasons of schedule, busyness, etc., but, ultimately, so much of our overwhelmed feelings start with our thought process.
In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus talks about how distractions and busyness in our lives create four states of our hearts that, unless we fix our focus, threaten our ability to realize the promises of God. One of our greatest enemies isn’t all the bad things we are doing but actually too many good things that threaten to keep us truly ineffective for our calling or the plan God has for our lives.
We live in a society that celebrates whatever is “new” or “next”, the word same can have a negative connotation. Sameness can be seen as stagnant, stupid, or stubborn. Yet while change is celebrated, sameness can also make a huge difference in people’s lives. For example, successful marriages stand the test of time. Successful jobs are those that allow you to grow and progress within the same organization over time. There is great power is staying consistent with the power of same.
In this series, we have defined Gut Check as showing courage, character and determination when everything seems to go against you. Towards the end of Daniel’s life, God would remind him of a few things that encourage us for any upcoming Gut Check moments we may have.
Gut Check moments that test our courage, character, and determination can happen at any time. The only way to have the power to come through those moments is when we are connected to God who is the source of our power. We can remain close to God by viewing every moment, no matter how mundane, as a gift from God. If we drift away or focus on what we can attain, we will waste away and find ourselves drained.
So many people face problems or situations that can really mess with their faith. However, it may be possible that these fires actually can build our faith, allow us to test our obedience to God and even make a huge impact in the lives of those around us. Nobody wants to go through a fire, but sometimes we need to. What do you do when you are in the middle of a fire? What if there is one thing that we all can do that would make all the difference as you go through the fire. This morning, we’ll be talking about the most important thing you need when things aren’t going your way.
We all face pressure in life. The problem is this pressure can continue to weigh us down. Not many have faced the constant pressure of unbearable circumstances like Daniel. However, Daniel responds in a way that serves as a reminder of each of us when we are under pressure.
There is a pattern to everything in life. One lesson that Daniel teaches us about patterns is there is also a secret to recognizing them and changing them. During the 1st week of Gut Check, Trent discusses the secret that Daniel knew that can change everything for us.
GAME ON has taught us that in life we all have a journey. The great thing about the journey we are on is that we can allow God, the creator, to guide us through this journey. Just like video games, our journey will bring us to a point of crisis; a moment in which we must react in order to continue or to save the day. We can look toward what we know about the game and what we have learned to get us through those moments of crisis. In life, we can look to Jesus as our hope.
We all want at least a few things to be different, to be better, but are we willing to do something about it? When Jesus confronted the paralyzed man, he was waiting for a quick fix, he was blaming everyone else for his condition, and he completely left God out of the equation. Jesus saw right through his excuses because he knew the man would never get better as long as he allowed his excuses to fester. It was time for him to get up, do what he could do and trust God with the results.
Turn the other cheek. Don’t judge. Don’t worry. Those are all things that are easier said than done. But guess what? Jesus said them. Join us during the summer as some of our pastors and guest speakers share which one of Jesus’ teachings they love or struggle with during our series, “Jesus Said What?”.
Jesus said some pretty radical things in His day. So many times, He would flip the way people thought and did things completely upside down. Instead of revenge...forgive or to gain your life, you must first be willing to lose it. During one of his sermons, He shared the secret to living a blessed life, but instead of money, fulfilled dreams and happiness, he said blessed are those who are persecuted. What? Persecution = blessings?
If you want to keep believers from growing, give them a list to follow. When you do that, there's no opportunity to step out and get closer to God. So many of us were raised with a version of Christianity that focused on the do's and don'ts and left out the fact that Jesus is our advocate. Who are you going to trust? Your advocate or your accuser?
We tend to complicate and over think faith. I have always been amazed that children will believe just about anything we tell them. At first glance it seems very naive but upon closer inspection, children exhibit certain characteristics that makes them stand out in the eyes of and heart of Jesus.
We aren't perfect. We mess up. So, when we're told to "Be like Jesus" it can be discouraging. But, what if being like Jesus had less to do with being perfect and more to do with having the same attitude as Jesus and how we treat those around us? To God, being like Jesus can be ordinary, and it's less about you than you think.
No matter where we are in our spiritual journey, we all have a next step we should take, and baptism is the very first thing Jesus tells us to do once we've committed our lives to Him. This week, we will be discussing what the big deal about being baptized is.
Most women have incredible pressure and demands placed on them from family, society, etc. However, God sees things differently than culture. Sometimes we get so caught up in the day to day pressures that we forget the most important things. Join us this Mother’s Day as we look at 4 Things Every Woman Needs to Remember and a story that we’ll guarantee is the “The Greatest Mother’s Day Story You’ve Never Heard”.
Religion says, Change and you can join us. Jesus says, Join us and you will change. There's a huge difference. Jesus doesn't expect you to be perfect. He just wants you to follow him. Being a messed up doesn't disqualify you from following him. Being an unbeliever doesn't disqualify you from following him. In fact, following almost always begins with someone taking one small step. What’s yours?
Most of us think, it could never happen to us, but the reality is that any one of us could give in to temptation & have an affair or get divorced. After counseling couples at C3 for years, there are repeating patterns that so many couples continue to do. Learn this week what “They” who cheat or call it quits actually do and how you can avoid them as we talk about “50 Shades of They”.
Did you ever intend to do something, but somehow it just didn’t happen? Maybe you had good or even great intentions. Maybe you really meant to do it and even wanted to do it, but for some reason it didn’t happen. Our relationships are no different. We can have the best intentions, yet for some reason there is a gap between our intentions and our actions. Join us this Sunday for 3 easy steps to the close the gap from intention to action in our marriages, families and relationships.
We tend to focus on certain aspects of families or even certain members of families that stand out because of something crazy or something negative. There is no doubt to the fact that all of our families are jacked up in some way shape or form but why should that be what gets the attention? Regardless of how crazy or jacked up your family may be, we can still strive for greatness. I want my family to be the best family ever.
Do you see someone who feels helpless, forgotten, worried, scared, or hurt? Or, do you see someone who has hope? Things can appear to be hopeless sometimes, but we can have hope because of what Jesus did for us when He died on the cross and rose again. This Easter, it’s time to discover that there’s always hope, even if we can’t see it.
What if you found out some amazing news? Would you share it with others? The truth of the matter is we all love to share and talk about things that are exciting and important to us. God did not give us a small suggestion, but a great commission, to go into all the world and share the good news of Christ's love and grace. We've found out something that will change everyone's life forever, but are we ready to tell the word? Join us this Sunday as we discuss how to move from #DeathToLife!
Instead of accepting the way things are, we must learn to kill our complacency and be people of action for God and for others with the things that God has put right in front of us.
Whether it’s your kid’s future and safety, your retirement or even just wanting to take over the remote or steering wheel because you could do a better job, we all have a little control freak in us. The problem is there are times when every one of us want to sit in the driver's seat of life and grip the steering wheel too tightly. We want to steer problems out of our lives. We want to steer other people into doing exactly what we want them to do. We want to steer clear of pain and difficulties and take the easy road in life. Every one of us deals with the struggle of control. This Sunday, we’ll be discussing three questions that all of us need to ask to our own control freak selfies.
There's NO win in COMPARISON. Let's face it. Not a day goes by that you're not tempted to glance to the left and to the right to see how you measure up to the people around you. But it doesn't stop there, does it? You're tempted to compare your children to other children, your spouse to other spouses! It's frustrating. It's exhausting. It’s a trap that will kill you if you don’t learn to kill it first.
Sometimes it's good when things don't add up. When God is in the equation, we can end up with a lot more than we expected. Learn what can happen in our lives when we shift our thinking and start to realize an important truth. We are extremely rich and it’s our job to be rich in more than one way to others. Most of us would say that we want to be happy, but the ways we react to our circumstances say that we’d rather be stressed out and miserable. In the story of Cain and Abel, Cain gives us step by step instructions on how to let stress make a mess out of our life. If you want to be miserable, just pout when things don’t go your way, ignore God, and blame and lash out at others. If you don’t want to be miserable, like he did with Cain, God can still bless your messed up life.
Anger can destroy all of us. We see it in family relationships where some people have competed with their siblings throughout their entire lives to inch out and be better than them or to win their parents’ approval and love. Marriages that become hostile and bitter. Employees that hate their bosses and everything about their job. It plays out in their whole journey. We see it all around us – the results of anger and conflict. We're discussing how to diffuse our own anger and keep it from blowing up our lives.
We live in a culture that’s inundated with tabloids and dirty laundry. There is gossip in our work places. People talk about other people. We spread hearsay and rumors. The rumor mill turns. Sometimes it’s hard to know. Even in conversations we wonder, “Am I gossiping right now when I’m saying this? Is it gossip? Is it not gossip?” It can be a real challenge. In this message, we will give three questions we can all ask ourselves to finally shut down the destructive rumor mill once and for all.
Nobody plans for it to happen, but life can get pretty messy. All of us have some harmful habit that we wish we could get rid of...we look back and wonder, "How did I end up here?" Starting down that path is easier than you might think, unless you know what to look for. Join us this Sunday as we discover how to break free from the addictions that we all have.

Depression is very hard to understand unless you have been there. We have many in our church who have been down that road. I want to share my story and my struggle with depression and use the three things that put me on a path to healing. Mental illness is still somewhat of a taboo topic in the church world. I want to help people break the silence.

This Sunday we'll be looking at three simple questions that can help you make the right decision in every situation.

Sadly for most people who claim to be a Christian, there has been some unspoken rules. One unspoken rule for years has been don’t question the Bible! Don’t ever admit you have doubts! Just accept everything by faith! For many (especially skeptics of Christianity), “faith” is basically blind belief. However, the New Testament word for faith means “to trust in something for which we have seen the evidence.” Evidence! That means we have to think and analyze the evidence. What if your faith could actually be made stronger by looking at the evidence for some of your doubts? Join us this Sunday and we promise, you will not have to check your brain at the door.

People in our culture are confused about sex and it’s typically one of the taboo topics that churches tend to avoid. Before sin entered the world, God created sex for marriage between one man and one woman. People distort this gift and tend to see sex as either god or gross. However, the Bible gives us some simple guidelines that are ultimately God’s way of saying, “I want the best for you.”

“That was really dumb”… we’ve all said that to ourselves at one time or another or even had someone else say it to us. The truth is, we’ve all been dumb probably more frequently than we care to admit. But, is there a way to avoid it? (or at least keep from repeating the same dumb things over and over again?) This week we’ll be discussing “How to Stop Being Dumb”.

We’ve all been there. Those times in our life when it seems like our life unravels. Whether it is because of something someone else did to us or our own fault, we feel like everything is spinning out of control, and we are merely hanging by a thread. In this series, we will learn how to hang on when it seems like everything is coming apart at the seams.

In 1985, Americans were invaded by Nintendo and even more importantly a little guy named Mario. We actually spent hours or days, or perhaps even weeks in beanbag chairs in front of the TV with controllers in our hands. Most of us love to play games. Unfortunately our spiritual life is no different. We all have certain “religious games” we play. During the month of January, we are going to discuss several of those games that “many” of us love to play.

Every commercial promises us something. Health, Love, Meaning, Food, or maybe something else that will make our lives better. Some deliver, but most of the time they don’t. God doesn’t play the same game when we decide to live for him. How do you overcome so many things when the world around us is spinning out of control, where do we turn? Join us during the month of November as we learn from Elijah.
