I had the pleasure of interviewing my elementary friend AJ. He spoke about his business endeavors and how important it is to regulate your emotions, so you can be at peace. Being at peace can put everyone at peace around you. He spoke about our community showing more respect between each other. How he's finally built his self-esteem and it will show in his work. How he was inspired by the great legends, Spike Lee and John Singleton. These two individuals who have paved the way for me, are also my inspirations to motion pictures. Please if you want to network with him and show case you talents, contact him on Instagram @yallmysuns. If you want to be a guest on the podcast, please contact me via email at Darikab80@gmail.com.

Below are the questions that I asked on the episode today, please take the time to answer the questions for your self growth.

1. “You are the director and screenwriter of your life”. What screen plays are you writing that indicates who you are today?

2. What change would you like to see in the world?

3. What could you be doing in your own way to effect this change? Do you want it to be part of your career or to keep it separate?

4. Do you have structure around the things you love to do-a schedule, a group you work with, etc.? When was the last time you made time to do what you love?

5. Challenge: Remind yourself of your gift. Remind yourself of your superpowers. Make a list of the things you want to do with your gift, what are the results of these gifts? Who do they touch? How does that manifest concretely? What do you need to do to begin using your gifts in a way that touches everyone around you?

Additional question: How do you feel about emotional regulation?

As I celebrate 🎉 being 30 for 2 months, I recited a poem titled ‘What is a relationship’. I am taking a break from my Art 🖼️! I’ve been fighting to create platforms to have a voice and now I want to be voiceless. I’m tired of trying. My brain 🧠 is suffering! My entire body is suffering! I can’t show up for others until I can show up for myself! I feel like people don’t care if I live or die! It’s time for me to care if I live or die!

How do you check yourself? What part did you play in your rape incident? 9. Are you aware of the wounded parts of yourself?Yes, I’m stuck with these wounds, I have nightmares about my wounds. As a rape victim, what part did I play in being raped? What part did I contribute to being assaulted in my own bed? My wounds are what distract me from forgiving myself and moving forward to motherhood!11. Make a list of parts of you that are hurt and how they show up in your everyday interactions. My entire body is in pain. My back hurts because of the way my body is positioned in my car. My uterus hurts because I connect through sex, I try to have one sexual partner at a time. The biggest mistake is fucking them before getting to know them. My stomach hurts because I don't eat properly. My stomach also hurts because I wish I could be pregnant again, wishing I would have continued my pregnancy without the father. My lungs hurt because I started vaping again, another way to cope with living in poverty. I had an asthma attack and had to be prescribed an inhaler again. My mouth hurts because I verbally assault people with my words when I’m angry. My head hurts because I am always mad! Forcing myself to work daily, clocking into a world I hate, making below minimum wage. My feet hurt because I’m now walking ’30 Miles to Acceptance’, yelling for the world to see me, when they do, they anger and not the kindhearted person I really am. My world is filled with rain drops because I didn’t think after being a dedicated student I would be punished in the work field, hoping for jobs just to set myself up for financial freedom. All I’ve gotten in return is financial hardships.

Dating can be complicated, it could even be tricky! In part 1 of this weeks episode, I shared a poem about a mentally abusive relationship. I spoke about how my main character 'Ja'ree' felt when she was fully committed to someone in the beginning of their relationship. Then their relationship shifted. he began to trap her mentally, making her feel bad if she couldn't be with him every second of the day. They both were pleading for attention but in total different ways. She was thinking he would heal the pain her mother caused her, all along he became the medication she needed to feel better. Now I don't believe in certain medications, herbs are better. So, in this case, he became bad for her! He was killing her because he never healed from his past relationships. Hurt People Hurt People!

Please don’t forget to listen and learn something new. We shared memories about grief, finding peace, and growth we are experiencing while we are adapting to adulthood. I also shared a poem about how it feels for my character Ja’ree to grow up in the ‘ghetto’. How do you adapt to an environment that wasn’t meant for you to? How do you find yourself when your surrounded by drama? Please don’t forget to check out both of our books on Amazon 💃🏾🫶🏾.
