Wisdom is not merely about making good decisions. Wisdom is learning to walk through life with people. In fact, Scripture tells us that the quality of our friendships often shapes the quality of our lives. Wisdom is not primarily about methods. It is about becoming a certain kind of person. Praying, “Give us this day our daily bread,” is deeply formational. In a culture marked by excess and convenience, it reminds us that everything we have comes from God; Cultivating gratitude instead of entitlement, dependence instead of self-sufficiency, and generosity instead of selfishness.
Paul’s final time with the elders of Ephesus include him sharing his concerns and encouragements for the church. And his final words to them were, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Out of all the words Paul could have quoted from Jesus, why did he choose to highlight generosity as literal last words?
Today’s text illustrates a stunning reversal. In this life a rich man is feasting, and a poor man is starving. In this life a rich man is clothed with fine linen, while a poor man is covered in sores. But when both men die the rich man ends up tormented in hell, while the poor man is comforted in heaven. This story serves as a warning against indifference and greed. And it also serves as a reminder that in eternity God’s justice will right every wrong in this life.
From the shoes we never wear to the upgrades we don’t need, one commentator wrote, “We’ve moved past the things we want and need and are now buying those things that have nothing to do with our lives.” Join us as we answer these critical questions–What is covetousness and greed? Jesus said, “the harvest is ready, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest that he would send laborers.” Notice that Jesus does not tell us to pray for the harvest–it’s ready–he tells us to pray for the church which seems to be too apathetic, ill equipped, or insecure to go out and proclaim the gospel. Because Christ died for the lost, Inspire Church should passionately pursue them and proclaim the good news. This is the primary mission of the church. In this episode we want to paint a picture of what it looks like to “tell the story and to live it out” in our own lives as we seek to become a church that lives in rhythms of witness. The fourth commandment is not just about observing the Sabbath on that day; it’s about anticipating it. Sabbath is coming, whether we like it or not! How we anticipate the Sabbath day determines how we will observe this holy day. When we rest in the goodness of God, we will experience rest on the day of Sabbath. Rest-to-rest becomes a cycle, a rhythm. Join us as we discover how God’s command to remember the Sabbath can be a liberating and restful experience.
The third commandment commands us to not take the name of the LORD in vain, but is it really just about a name? The name of God and His nature are the same so if you profane the name you profane God himself. The third commandment not only gives a (1) warning but also highlights the (2) wonder of God and since we live in a fallen world we need an outside (3) way to experience the freedom of God through joyful obedience.

The first commandment is the greatest commandment of them all. In breaking this commandment, we will inevitably break them all. All evil and injustice come as the result of humanity turning from the one true God and trusting in lesser deities.
Modern culture defines freedom as living without restrictions, but the bible teaches us that freedom is enjoyed most in the presence of restrictions. Join us as we discuss how God’s law can free us to flourish.
