In this episode of the Legacy Dads Podcast, Dave and Dante unpack the transformative shift from performance-based fathering to presence-based fathering. Anchored in1 Thessalonians 2:11-12, the discussion reveals how Paul's model of leadership—focused on exhorting, comforting, and imploring—requires active relational proximity rather than flawless execution. By challenging the myth that fathers must maintain a spotless record, the episode emphasizes that a child's character is shaped most profoundly when a dad owns his mistakes, seeks forgiveness, and actively chooses repair over pride. Packed with actionable takeaways like the "five-minute rule" for confessing short tempers, this conversation equips men to model Christ's grace by showing up authentically, putting expectations aside, and committing to being fully present in their kids' lives today.

In this powerful episode of Legacy Dads, we confront a quiet pain carrying through generations of men: the ache for a father's blessing that was never spoken. Grounded in the tragic desperation of Esau's cry in Genesis 27 and the transformative redemption of Jacob blessing his sons in Genesis 48–49, "The Blessing You Never Got" explores why silent love is never enough. We unpack the four crucial ingredients of a biblical blessing—spoken, specific, future-shaping, and unconditional—and reveal how Jesus's own identity was spoken before His public performance ever began. Whether you are carrying the weight of a silent past or wondering if it's too late to speak life into your own children, this episode serves as an urgent invitation to break the cycle, step into God's full favor, and leave an enduring legacy of spoken identity.

In this episode of the Legacy Dads Podcast, hosts Dave and Dante challenge fathers to shift their focus from short-term parenting goals to building a multi-generational legacy that outlives them. Drawing from Proverbs 22:6 and Psalm 78:4-7, the episode reframes fatherhood not as a formula for guaranteed immediate outcomes, but as the intentional, long-term act of planting trees whose shade will only be enjoyed by future generations. By examining the biblical "relay race" of faith, the hosts emphasize that passing down values requires specific, simple, and repeatable mechanisms rather than just good intentions. Fathers are ultimately challenged to implement one concrete, transferable spiritual practice this week, leaving behind a intentional blueprint for descendants they may never live to meet.

In this episode of Legacy Dads, hosts Dave and Dante share a moving letter from a mother at Dave's church to highlight how a godly man's influence extends far beyond his own home. They emphasize that fatherless or deeply wounded children are constantly watching the men around them, looking for examples to piece together what healthy manhood actually looks like. By simply showing up with consistent integrity, patience, and humility in everyday moments, men can ease the burdens of single mothers and rewrite the concept of fatherhood for a child who has known only absence or abuse. Ultimately, they challenge listeners to embrace the quiet, everyday responsibility of being a living signpost that points broken families toward the healing love of a perfect Heavenly Father. In this episode of the Legacy Dads Podcast, hosts Dave and Dante dive into 2 Corinthians 5:20 to redefine a father's role from a burdened owner to a faithful ambassador of Christ. They tackle the heavy performance pressures, shifting identities, and daily frictions that modern men face, offering a liberating perspective: a dad's authority is delegated, his identity is immutably fixed by the King, and his home is his embassy. By shifting from ownership to stewardship, Dave and Dante challenge fathers to relieve the pressure of perfection, anchor their souls in their divine title, and embrace a ministry of reconciliation over retaliation. Ultimately, they call men to be the chief de-escalators and grace-givers in their homes, strategically winning the hearts of their families rather than trying to win arguments. In this episode of the Legacy Dads podcast, host Dante Girolimon and guest co-host Joe Svoboda are joined by leadership expert Mac Lake to discuss the intersection of ministry, multiplication, and intentional fatherhood. Drawing from his decades of experience and the framework of the "Leadership Pipeline," Lake shares how his philosophy evolved from a passion for church reproduction to a deep conviction that every father is called to be a "multiplier" in his own home.

The conversation moves through the distinct seasons of parenting—from the high-energy early years of building family culture to the nuanced shift of maintaining influence with adult children. Lake emphasizes that leadership development is, at its heart, a form of high-level discipleship that balances character and competency, a lesson he applied while raising his own children, including worship leader Brandon Lake. The episode concludes with a forward-looking vision of legacy, where Lake encourages fathers to view their homes not just as places of management, but as the primary training ground for the next generation of Kingdom leaders.

Grounded in the joy of 3 John 1:4, we explore how to stay spiritually connected without becoming controlling, providing a roadmap for fathers whose children are navigating college, careers, or even seasons of doubt and deconstruction. It's time to move from holding the bow to watching the arrow fly, confident that your legacy is anchored in faithfulness rather than perfection.

Key Takeaways: * The Role Shift: Transitioning from daily control to foundational investment and coaching. * Staying Connected: Practical ways to maintain a spiritual bond without being intrusive. * Handling Doubt: How to remain a "safe harbor" if your child deconstructs or walks away from their faith. * Trusting the Growth: Remembering that you planted the seeds, but God brings the increase.

Episode Summary Parenting a toddler feels like planting a garden in the middle of a windstorm—chaotic, messy, and loud. But it is also the most critical season for planting seeds that will last a lifetime. In this episode, Dave and Dante break down the "why" and "how" of discipling children ages 2–7. We're moving away from the pressure of perfection and leaning into the beauty of simple, faithful rhythms that point little hearts toward their Creator.

Key Scriptures * Deuteronomy 6:6-7 – The mandate to weave faith into the fabric of everyday life. * Matthew 18:3 – Why the simplicity of a child's faith is the blueprint for our own. * Numbers 6:24-26 – The power of the priestly blessing. * 1 Corinthians 11:1 – Modeling faith for those who are always watching.

What We Cover * The Toddler's Spiritual World: Why their "concrete" thinking isn't a limitation, but a gift. We discuss why heart formation beats theological precision every time. * Practical Rhythms: From morning gratitude to the transformative power of bedtime blessings. * Discipling Through the Senses: Faith shouldn't just be heard; it should be seen, touched, and experienced. Learn how to translate big theology into language a 4-year-old understands. * Modeling Over Teaching: You are your child's first "Bible." We get real about what happens when you blow it and how saying "I'm sorry" is a crucial discipleship tool. * The Long View: Trusting the "compound effect" of small, consistent habits even when you don't see immediate fruit.

Action Step for the Week The Bedtime Blessing: This week, we're keeping it simple. Whether you've never done it or just got out of the habit, commit to implementing a consistent bedtime prayer or blessing routine for your toddler. Speak the truth of God's love over them before they drift off to sleep.

In this hard-hitting episode, Dave and Dante tackle a sobering question: Have churches in the West gotten discipleship wrong?

The data is alarming. The mission is clear. And the stakes are generational.

Jesus' final command in Gospel of Matthew 28:19–20 wasn't to build programs, grow attendance, or launch niche ministries. It was simple and direct:

"Go therefore and make disciples…"

So why are so few men being discipled? And what does that mean for our families, churches, and culture?

The Discipleship Crisis * 90 million men in America are NOT involved in discipleship * Only 1 out of every 18 men is engaged in discipleship * Only 10% of born-again believers are actively discipling others * Only 6% of self-identified Christians hold a biblical worldview * Even among born-again Christians, only 13% hold a biblical worldview

This isn't a programming issue. It's an obedience issue.

Why This Matters for Fathers Men are called to lead their homes spiritually. When fathers are discipled:

  • Marriages grow stronger
  • Children are more likely to follow Christ
  • Churches grow healthier
  • Culture shifts from the inside out

When fathers are absent spiritually, the ripple effects last for generations.

The Strategic Questions Every Church Must Ask * Are we producing disciples or just attendees? * Can our men articulate and defend biblical truth? * Are fathers equipped to lead spiritually at home? * Are we making disciples who make disciples?

If not, it's time to recalibrate.

In this episode, we dive deep into the generational mission of fatherhood. We move beyond the traditional metrics of "success"—finances and career—to explore the weight and beauty of building a spiritual legacy. It's not about being a perfect theologian; it's about being a present, consistent, and humble leader who treats God as a reality, not just a concept.

Pick one spiritual habit to start this week. Don't overcomplicate it. Whether it's praying before bed, reading one verse at dinner, or simply blessing your children with your words—start small, but start now. Remember: God doesn't need your ability; He needs your availability.

In this episode of the, we dive into Hebrews 11—often called the Hall of Faith—to explore what biblical faith really looks like and how it shapes the legacy we leave as men, husbands, and fathers. This chapter isn't about flawless heroes; it's about ordinary people who trusted God in extraordinary circumstances. Their faith wasn't passive belief, but active obedience—often costly, uncomfortable, and unseen by the world.

Hebrews 11 challenges modern dads to rethink success, security, and legacy. The men and women highlighted here lived with their eyes fixed on God's promises rather than immediate comfort or cultural approval. Their stories invite us to ask: What kind of faith are we modeling for our children.

In this episode, Dave and Dante tackle one of the most challenging and controversial cultural issues facing the Church today: feminism and its downstream effects on gender, family, and Christian discipleship. Drawing from the work of Rosaria Butterfield, Dr. Joe Rigney, and Scripture, the conversation examines how feminist ideology—once framed as liberation—has ultimately collapsed under its own contradictions and found an unexpected refuge inside evangelical Christianity.

This is not a conversation about hating women. It is a conversation about loving truth, protecting families, and forming faithful sons and daughters in an anti-Christian age.

LEGACY DADS PODCAST — "I Have Finished the Race: Consistency Over Speed" Episode Overview In this episode, we reflect on Paul's words in 2 Timothy 4 — not as a victory lap of perfection, but as a testimony of perseverance, faithfulness, and steady obedience over time. Many dads start strong… but fewer finish steady. We talk about the difference between sprinting through seasons of fatherhood and faithfully running the long race God has placed before us.

This conversation encourages dads to value presence over intensity, consistency over emotional bursts, and long-term faithfulness over short-term momentum. We also discuss what it means to "keep the faith," not as flawless belief, but as resilient trust sustained by the grace of God.

Key Themes & Takeaways 🏃‍♂️ Consistency Over Speed — Finishing the Race * Sprinting vs. running a race * Many dads start strong… fewer finish steady * The real work of fatherhood happens:

+ when results aren't visible
+ when progress feels slow
+ when it feels ordinary or unnoticed

Kids don't remember intensity — they remember consistency.

📖 EPISODE OVERVIEW Christmas doesn't begin in Bethlehem—it begins with a promise.

In this final episode of Christmas in Genesis, Dave and Dante unpack Judah's prophecy from Genesis 49, where Jacob speaks of a coming King whose reign will never end. This ancient blessing points directly to Jesus, the Lion of Judah, and reveals what true kingship looks like—strength under control, authority with humility, and leadership rooted in sacrifice.

For fathers, this passage challenges how we think about power, leadership, and legacy in our homes.

👑 KEY SCRIPTURE "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs; and the obedience of the nations shall be his." — Genesis 49:10

📖 Episode Overview When we think of Christmas, we often picture peace, perfection, and tidy manger scenes. But when we look back to Genesis, we find something very different — broken people, dysfunctional families, and repeated failure.

In this episode of the Christmas in Genesis series, Dave and Dante walk through the messy family tree that leads to Jesus and reveal a powerful truth every dad needs to hear:

God doesn't wait for perfect families — He works through broken ones.

From Abraham's deception, to Jacob's favoritism, to Judah's moral collapse, Genesis makes one thing clear: the line of the Messiah is anything but clean. And that's exactly the point.

🔎 What You'll Learn in This Episode * Why God intentionally chose flawed men and families to bring forth the Savior * How Genesis dismantles the myth of the "perfect dad" * What Judah's story teaches us about repentance, responsibility, and redemption * How God's mercy shows up again and again in generational brokenness * Why Christmas is ultimately a story of grace, not genetics

🧬 Key Passages Discussed * Genesis 12; 16; 27; 37–38 — A family marked by deceit, favoritism, and sin * Genesis 38 — Judah, Tamar, and the unexpected path of redemption * Matthew 1:1–6 — The Messiah's genealogy includes scandal, outsiders, and grace * Romans 5:8 — God's mercy meets us in our mess

👨‍👩‍👧 Application for Dads This episode speaks directly to men who feel the weight of their failures:

  • You don't need a perfect past to lead well today
  • God can redeem your mistakes and use them for good
  • Your repentance matters more than your record
  • Faithfulness now can change the legacy of generations to come

If you've ever felt disqualified as a husband or father, this conversation reminds you that God specializes in restoring broken men and broken families.

🔥 Big Takeaway Christmas didn't come through perfect people — it came through repentant ones. God's mercy is bigger than your mess, and His redemption reaches further than your failure.

📖 Episode Overview In this challenging and timely conversation, Dave and Dante sit down with theologian and author Dr. Joe Rigney to discuss a topic that has sparked significant debate in both Christian and cultural spaces: the sin of empathy.

Empathy is often celebrated as an unquestioned virtue—but what happens when empathy is detached from truth? Dr. Rigney helps clarify the difference between biblical compassion and disordered empathy, showing how misplaced emotional identification can lead men away from wisdom, courage, and faithful leadership.

This episode is especially relevant for fathers and husbands navigating emotional pressure, cultural confusion, and moral compromise—both inside the home and in the public square.

🔥 Key Topics Discussed * What Dr. Rigney means by "the sin of empathy" * Why empathy is not always a virtue when divorced from truth * The difference between compassion and emotional manipulation * How empathy can be weaponized in modern culture * Biblical examples of rightly ordered love and mercy * Why men are especially vulnerable to disordered empathy * How fathers can lead with both truth and tenderness * The role of courage and clarity in Christian masculinity * Teaching children to care without surrendering conviction * Pastoral and parental wisdom for engaging emotionally charged issues

🛡️ Legacy Dads Takeaways * Truth must lead love, not the other way around * Compassion does not require agreement * Fathers must model emotional strength rooted in Scripture * Saying "no" can be the most loving response * Biblical empathy always points people toward repentance, restoration, and Christ

📚 About the Guest Dr. Joe Rigney is a theologian, author, and pastor known for his work on Christian ethics, masculinity, and cultural engagement. He has written extensively on the relationship between truth, love, and emotional formation within the church.

In this first episode of our Christmas in Genesis series, Dave and Dante take listeners all the way back to the beginning — literally. Before shepherds heard angels sing, before Mary received Gabriel's announcement, before Bethlehem was even a town, God Himself declared the very first Christmas promise in Genesis 3:15. This passage — often called the Protoevangelium, or "first gospel" — reveals God's redemptive plan immediately after humanity's fall. In this episode, we unpack how this ancient verse points forward to Jesus, what it teaches us about sin, hope, and spiritual warfare, and how men can lead their families with the confidence that God always keeps His promises.

🎧 Episode Description In this episode, we dive into the latest research from Barna on how Americans view truth and morality. The findings reveal a culture increasingly skeptical of moral absolutes and more reliant on personal feelings and pluralistic sources of truth. As dads who want to pass on a legacy of clarity, conviction, and faith, we'll explore what this means for our families, our faith, and how we model truth for the next generation.

🧭 Key Segments & Topics 1. Setting the Scene – What the Research Says

  • The survey shows ≈ 74% of adults say they trust their feelings over facts when discerning moral truth. George Barna+2George Barna+2
  • Only a minority believe in moral absolutes; many believe moral truth is relative to circumstances. George Barna+3Barna Group+3George Barna+3
  • A large portion of Americans accept the idea that "different moral truth-views can all be right." George Barna+1
  • Even among Christian-identified groups, significant percentages reject or doubt absolute moral truth. George Barna+2George Barna+2

  • Why This Matters for Dads & Families

  • When truth becomes something you feel rather than something you know or are rooted in, it affects how we model decision-making for our kids.

  • Legacy is about more than providing; it's about imparting a worldview. If that worldview is unstable or shifting with culture, the next generation inherits confusion.
  • The article warns: societies without shared, stable moral references risk becoming fragmented, morally ambiguous or anchored only in emotion. George Barna+1
  • As fathers, we're gatekeepers for our homes: of truth, character, and generational faith. So what do we do when our culture says "each person decides their truth"?

  • Practical Applications – What You Can Do

  • Anchor in a stable source: Encourage family conversations about why you believe what you believe — not just what.

  • Model decision-making: Show your children how you arrive at right vs wrong. Is it "how I feel" or "what is true / what does Scripture say / what is right"?
  • Discuss pluralism & relativism honestly: If our kids are hearing that all truth-views are valid, we need to equip them to think critically and biblically.
  • Create opportunities for reflection: Ask your children (depending on age) "What basis did you use to decide that was okay or not okay?"
  • Teach the big story: Legacy is long-term. Morality isn't just a list of do's and don'ts, but a story of a God who is truth, and lives that flow from that.

  • Conversation Starters for Your Family

  • "What do you believe defines right and wrong?"

  • "Have you ever changed your mind about something because of how you felt? What did you base that on?"
  • "Why do you think some people believe truth depends on the situation?"
  • "If someone says 'that's true for you but not for me,' how would you respond?"
  • "What difference does it make if truth is absolute vs relative?"

  • Legacy Dad Challenge This week: Pick one moral/ethical decision you face (big or small). Walk your child(ren) through how you came to your decision: What basis did you use? Was it simply how you felt? Or did you consult Scripture, your conscience, parental wisdom, cultural norms? After making the decision, revisit it: "Was that the wisest basis? Would I make the same decision next time with what I now know?"

🎯 Take-Away Points for Listeners * The cultural current is moving toward "truth according to me/feelings," rather than fixed moral truth. * As fathers wanting to build a legacy, we must choose to anchor our families in something more stable — not just personal preference. * Modeling how to live with conviction, how to think about truth, how to navigate moral decisions — that becomes part of our legacy. * It's not enough to tell our kids what's right; we show them how we determine right. * When the culture says "all truths are valid," the Christian father says: "Let's explore why I believe one truth is true, and how that matters for how we live."

🧩 Episode Overview In this episode, the guys unpack the often-overlooked spiritual value of humor. As Christian men, we can sometimes take life — and ourselves — too seriously. But laughter is one of God's gifts that brings healing, unity, and perspective to our families and communities.

Dante and Dave discuss how humor:

  • Strengthens relationships with our wives and kids,
  • Keeps us humble and human,
  • Relieves stress in tense seasons, and
  • Reflects the joy we have in Christ.

🕊️ Key Takeaways 1. Humor Is Biblical: God created laughter and joy. From Elijah's sarcasm on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:27) to Jesus using irony and wordplay in His teachings, Scripture shows that God isn't opposed to humor — He designed it. 2. Laughter Builds Resilience: In stressful times, laughter re-centers us. It reminds us that we are not in control — and that's okay. Humor helps us release tension, rebuild connection, and move forward in faith. 3. Humor Strengthens Relationships: Healthy teasing and shared laughter between spouses and kids can strengthen bonds, but it must never come at the expense of others. Kind humor blesses, not belittles. 4. Joy Is a Witness: A joyful, laughing Christian stands out in a world marked by cynicism. Our laughter can be a quiet testimony of hope and trust in God's goodness.

💬 Discussion Highlights * The difference between holy humor and hurtful sarcasm * Funny parenting moments that turned into teachable faith lessons * How laughter helps men process fear, grief, and uncertainty * The connection between joy and strength (Nehemiah 8:10) * Practical ways to use humor to defuse tension at home and work

📖 Scripture References * Proverbs 17:22 — "A cheerful heart is good medicine…" * Ecclesiastes 3:4 — "A time to weep and a time to laugh…" * Nehemiah 8:10 — "The joy of the Lord is your strength." * Psalm 126:2 — "Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy." * Philippians 4:4 — "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice."

🧠 Practical Challenge for Men This Week: Find one situation at home or work where you normally respond with frustration — and instead, bring a moment of levity or gentle humor. Notice how it shifts the atmosphere.

Ask your wife or kids: "What's something funny I've done lately?" — and don't defend yourself. Just laugh together.

🛠️ Legacy Application * Use humor to connect, not deflect. * Let your joy be contagious — a reminder that your hope is anchored in something eternal. * Teach your kids that it's okay to laugh, even when life feels heavy — because laughter and faith often walk hand in hand.

🧔🏻‍♂️ Episode Summary: In this episode, Dave and Dante dive into the brief but bold story of Shammah, one of David's mighty men, found in 2 Samuel 23:11–12. Though only given two verses in the Bible, Shammah's example of standing firm when everyone else fled offers a powerful challenge to Christian men today. This is a call to faithfulness over fame, courage over compromise, and obedience over outcomes. Dave and Dante break down what it means to identify your "field" — your calling, your responsibilities, your God-given territory — and stand your ground when the enemy tries to take it.

🔑 Key Takeaways: • Every man has a field — marriage, fatherhood, ministry, work, or personal integrity — and the enemy always wants to steal it. • Shammah stood alone, but he didn't stand in his own strength. "The Lord worked a great victory." (2 Samuel 23:12) • Faithfulness in small things is not overlooked by God. • Standing firm is the mark of mature manhood. • Victory belongs to God, but obedience belongs to us.

📖 Scripture Referenced: • 2 Samuel 23:11–12 – Shammah stands in the lentil field • 1 Corinthians 16:13 – "Act like men" and stand firm • Luke 16:10 – Faithful in little = faithful in much • Ephesians 6:13 – The armor of God and standing firm • Exodus 14:14 – The Lord fights for you • Galatians 6:9 – Don't grow weary in doing good

🛠️ Practical Application: 1 Identify your "field" – Where has God called you to be faithful right now? 2 Stand your ground – What distractions or spiritual attacks are tempting you to walk away? 3 Trust God for the results – He brings the victory when we stay obedient.

🧠 Discussion Questions: 1 What "field" has God given you that you might be tempted to abandon? 2 Where have you seen God fight on your behalf when you chose to stand firm? 3 How do we encourage other men to hold the line when culture tells them to give up?

🔥 Episode Overview In this episode, Dave and Dante tackle one of the biggest cultural and spiritual questions facing Christian men today:

Should our faith influence our political decisions — or should religion stay out of politics?

A recent survey shared by Answers in Genesis found that over half of U.S. adults believe religion should not play a role in politics — and even among Christians, many agree.

But as men of faith, husbands, and fathers, we're called to lead with integrity and consistency. This episode dives into what Scripture says about how faith should shape every area of life — from our homes to the public square.

🧭 Main Takeaways 1. There is no such thing as neutrality. Every person's worldview shapes their decisions — including political ones. The question isn't if faith influences politics, but whose faith or worldview does.

  1. God's rule covers every sphere.

"The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof." — Psalm 24:1 (ESV) Faith isn't something we switch off when we leave church. Christ's authority extends into how we lead, vote, serve, and live publicly.

  1. Compartmentalized faith is compromised faith. When men separate their beliefs from their civic responsibility, we lose moral clarity and spiritual influence.

  2. The Bible speaks to public life. From the prophets confronting injustice to Paul appealing to the Roman government, Scripture models faithful engagement — not silence.

  3. Engage with humility and courage. Faith-driven men can influence culture without becoming combative or partisan. The goal isn't political dominance — it's faithful witness.

⚔️ Key Scriptures (ESV) * Psalm 24:1 – God's ownership of all creation. * Matthew 28:18 – Christ's authority in heaven and on earth. * Philippians 3:20 – Our heavenly citizenship guiding our earthly conduct. * 1 Corinthians 16:13 – Stand firm in faith and strength. * Galatians 6:9 – Don't grow weary in doing good.

💬 Discussion Questions for Men's Groups or Listeners 1. Have you ever felt pressure to keep your faith "private"? Where does that come from? 2. What would it look like for your Christian convictions to shape how you engage in civic life without becoming self-righteous or combative? 3. How can we model Christlike engagement in a culture that increasingly rejects biblical values? 4. What's one practical way you can bring your faith into your local community this month?

🧠 Practical Challenges for the Week * Pray before you post or vote. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and humility. * Read Micah 6:8 and reflect on what it means to "do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly." * Engage in conversation, not confrontation. Invite dialogue with someone who disagrees with you. * Model civility. Be the calm, faithful voice in a noisy, polarized world.

🙏 Legacy Challenge "Faith that doesn't shape how you live is faith that's shrinking."

Men — it's time to bridge the gap between what we believe and how we live. Be watchful. Stand firm. Act like men. Be strong. And let your faith lead the way — even when the world tells you to sit down.

In this episode, Dave takes on one of the biggest challenges Christian men face today: compromise. What happens when we trade our integrity for comfort?

We live in a world that rewards convenience, but God calls us to conviction. Every time we lower our standard, something sacred is lost - our witness, our credibility, our peace.

Listen in as Dave unpacks how to identify compromise, count its cost, and take steps to rebuild a life of integrity and strength.

💪🏽 Challenge of the Week Ask yourself: 1. Where have I traded integrity for comfort? 2. What would it look like to reclaim that ground today? 3. Who can I invite to hold me accountable in that area? In this powerful and sobering episode, we reflect on the recent deaths of Charlie Kirk and Pastor Voddie Baucham — two bold men who shaped our generation and challenged Christian men to stand firm in truth. Their sudden passing reminds us of life’s fragility and the urgent call to live faithfully, boldly, and ready.

What does it mean to be “ready” in our time? Spiritually, morally, practically, and missionally? This episode challenges Christian men to confront their mortality, examine their legacy, and rise to the calling God has placed on their lives.

📖 Scriptures Referenced

  • James 4:14 – “You are a mist…”
  • Hebrews 9:27 – “It is appointed for man to die once…”
  • Psalm 90:12 – “Teach us to number our days…”
  • 1 Timothy 4:12 – “Set the believers an example…”
  • John 15:5 – “Apart from Me, you can do nothing.”
  • Ephesians 6:10–18 – The Armor of God
  • Isaiah 5:20 – “Woe to those who call evil good…”
  • 1 Peter 3:15 – “Be ready to give an answer…”
  • Ephesians 4:26 – “Do not let the sun go down…”
  • Galatians 6:9 – “Do not grow weary…”
  • Matthew 25:23 – “Well done, good and faithful servant."

💪🏽 Challenge of the Week Pick one area in your life where you need to be more ready — spiritually, relationally, physically, or missionally — and take action this week.

New York Times bestselling author John Eldredge reveals the path of the "ordinary mystic," and invites readers into the refuge of experiencing deep, lasting, real communion with Jesus.

In this present age we are all becoming disciples of the Internet. We are addicted to distraction. We idolize our instant access to a never-ending avalanche of information. We think we're finally holding the keys to a better life.

But if that's true, why are we wrestling with ever-increasing levels of anxiety, dissatisfaction, and despair? The fact is, we live in a world of weary, skeptical pragmatism--and it's keeping us from experiencing the God we are dying without.

John Eldredge presents a powerful alternative to the soulless, disenchanted world we find ourselves living in today: the path of the ordinary mystic.

What was your phone number growing up as a kid? How about your address? Could you describe your drive to work or to the closest grocery? If you can remember these things, it's because they've been committed to memory - from repetition and placing value on the information. Jim Ramos is a bestselling author, speaker, internationally-known podcaster, and the founder of Men in the Arena, a non-profit Christian ministry focused on equipping men to honor God in the leadership of their family, church, and community. Jim passionately proclaims that when a man 'gets it' - steps out of the bleachers and into the arena of leadership in his family, church and community - everyone wins.

He hosts the #1 ranked Spotify podcast for Christian men, the Men in the Arena Podcast, interviewing experts in Christian manhood and partnering with thought-leaders like John Eldredge, Gary Chapman, Gene Getz, Patrick Morley, and Emerson Eggerichs.

Jim's new book "Dialed In: Reaching Your Full Capacity as a Man of God" gives men a target — 20 Biblical principles outlined in Paul’s Letters to Timothy and Titus for who a Christian man is and what he does. Jim says, “Dialed In provides a tangible, biblically grounded guide for what each man should strive for and serves up masculine inspiration like a freshly grilled ribeye steak.” As the world tears down men, Dialed In, helps to build them up by encouraging them to fulfill their Godly purpose. Perfect for individual or group study, each chapter of this book has two opportunities. The first is the “Dial It In” section which includes a set of study questions that allow for reflection and motivational challenges. The second is the “Assessing Your Capacity” section which allows readers to identify strengths and weaknesses so men can dial in on areas to improve. The goal of this book is to help men navigate to the best version of themselves.

In this second part of a two-part interview with Megan Basham, the conversation continues with topics ranging from abortion to critical race theory to current events surrounding the Democratic National Committee Convention. Listen in as the guys chat with Megan about the importance of shepherds leading their congregations in a way that honors God and the sacrifice of Jesus, ultimately leading to their encouragement being the ambassadors that we (as Christians) are called to be.

In Shepherds for Sale, Megan Basham of the Daily Wire documents how progressive powerbrokers —from George Soros, to the founder of eBay, to former members of the Obama administration— set out to change the American church. Their goal: to co-opt evangelicals for political purposes. She exposes:

· The left-wing billionaires, foundations, and think tanks that deliberately target Christian media, universities, megachurches, nonprofits, and even entire denominations

· The celebrity megachurch pastor who secretly encouraged a group of pastors to change their views on sexuality

· The revered Presbyterian theologian who backed a congregation rebelling against his own denomination

These are just a glimpse into the compromises and astroturf campaigns Basham uncovers. Many evangelical leaders are pushing their members to “whisper” about sexual sins, reconsider the importance of abortion, lament the effects of climate change, and repent of “perpetuating systemic racism.” And in exchange for toeing a left-wing line, many of those church leaders and institutions have received cash, career jumps, prestige, and praise. Basham brings the receipts, and names names.

A rigorously reported exposé, Shepherds for Sale is a warning of what happens when the church trusts the world’s wisdom instead of Scripture.

The Birth of Jesus Christ In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!" When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us." And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them. And at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Legacy Dads had the pleasure welcome United States Senator Josh Hawley to discuss his new book "Manhood: The Masculine Virtues America Needs." Senator Hawley argues that the character of men, and the male virtue that goes along with it, is a necessary ingredient to a functioning society and a healthy, free republic.

A free society that despises manhood will not remain free.

No republic has ever survived without men of character to defend what is just and true. Starting with the wisdom of the ancients, from the Greek and Roman philosophers to Jesus of Nazareth, and drawing on the lessons of American history, Hawley identifies the defining strengths of men, including responsibility, bravery, fidelity, and leadership.

Josh Hawley is a New York Times best-selling author, constitutional lawyer, and U.S. Senator for the state of Missouri. One of the most recognized political figures in America, Josh was elected in 2018 as the youngest Senator in the country. He is well known for his battles against Big Tech and in support of middle America. As a constitutional lawyer, he has litigated in courts across the country, including the U.S. Supreme Court, defending the First Amendment. He also served as Missouri’s Attorney General, the state’s top prosecutor, from 2017-2019. Josh is married to Erin Hawley, whom he met clerking at the Supreme Court. Josh and Erin have three children, Elijah, Blaise, and Abigail. They live in Ozark, Missouri.

Don't you love the unfiltered thinking of children? It causes them to ask and say some of the most interesting and sometimes challenging things we have to deal with as parents. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss some of the tougher questions kids ask - like how do we know the crucifixion actually happened? Or what about dinosaurs? How is the universe billions of years old? While the guys don't have all the answers, there are plenty of resources available to help us as parents. Listen in as the guys talk about the importance of starting from the bible and then utilizing some of the fantastic resources from people much smarter on these topics!

Here are some resources that are really helpful to get answers to difficult questions:

Answers In Genesis: from the founders of the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum in northern Kentucky, this ministry gives you ample firepower to explain all sorts of topics using a biblical foundation. Extremely helpful! Homeschool curriculum, events, and all sorts of goodness! Go visit https://www.answersingenesis.com to learn more about them.

Stand To Reason: exists to train Christians to think more clearly about their faith and to make an even-handed, incisive, yet gracious defense for classical Christianity and classical Christian values in the public square. Plenty of media available for consumption! Visit https://www.str.org to learn more.

Others: Lee Strobel (author of the "Case for..." series of books); Cross Examined website (from Frank Turek); many many more. Arm yourself with information to defend the faith!

There are some topics that we could talk about over and over and over. This is one of them. The world wants us to be prideful - whether it's because of our personal or professional accomplishments, or on social media, or whatever else...if we aren't touting ourselves, then we are weird. Well, be proud to be weird, then. Because humility is weird. All throughout the bible, we read of the importance of humility in the Christian life, and it is absolutely applicable to men in all stages of life. When we live with arrogance, everything we do is all about "look at me." But when we live with humility (and confidence), everything is about "look at you!" We should constantly strive to not keep the attention on ourselves, but focused on others (discipleship and evangelism) and on the power, love, grace, and mercy of Jesus. Listen in to this episode to revisit this topic once again!

"Leaving a legacy" means a lot, and it is important for men and fathers in all stages of life to ensure they are setting not only themselves, but also their families - and future generations - with financial blessings rather than burdens. In this episode, we had the pleasure to sit down with Jason Ritchie, author of Oh God, Why Can't I Stop?

Are you sick and tired of failing? It’s frustrating to fail against the sin of this world. It’s even worse failing against temptation, fear, and faithlessness as a believer in Christ.

You are not alone.

Jason Ritchie never felt so “not right” with God as during his biggest failure. He cried out in distress, “Oh God, why can’t I stop failing? I can’t seem to stop. Though I pray, though I study, though I return to You, I still sin, and I don’t want to.”

In the aftermath, he wondered: “Will You still keep me? Will You still love me? Will You still use me?”

What does God say to these questions?

Oh God, Why Can’t I Stop? examines God’s fundamental response to failure through the story of Peter’s denial of Christ. It explores the Apostle Paul’s lament in Romans 7:19: “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.”

Porn is bad for you. Again...porn is bad for you! That's what this episode is about. Even though we all know the toxicity of the issue, it continues to be a problem. There's plenty of statistical evidence that shows what happens physiologically when you consume and get addicted to porn. There are plenty of stories of people who have tried to hide their habit and let it destroy them from the inside out. Yet it remains present, and something we must address. Listen in as the guys get real in a no-holds barred conversation about porn. If you take anything from this episode, it should be this: porn is bad for you.

Stop rationalizing the behavior. Stop trying to say it's something else. You know what you're doing, and God knows. The best thing you can do is turn to Him and let Him overwhelm you with His grace and His mercy. That's the way out. And there are other resources you can turn to as well:

In this interview we had the pleasure to talk with Aaron Tredway about his book "Don't Miss Your Life: The Secret to Significance."

Live life to the fullest. Nobody wants to look back on a disappointing, unfulfilled life. Why then are so many of us dissatisfied despite our goals and continual striving? In Don’t Miss Your Life, Aaron Tredway reveals we’re aimed at the wrong target: success. Despite our pursuit of something more, we are stuck chasing our idea of success instead of true significance. But we don’t have to be rich or famous to lead a life of meaning in God’s kingdom.

In this practical guide, Aaron shares his personal discovery of the secret to significance and invites you to live the life God created you for. Learn to recognize the exhausting emptiness of pursuing success, find liberation from a life without purpose, pursue God’s glory instead of unrewarding self-focus, and choose significance over success one step at a time. You were made for a meaningful, deeply fulfilling life, and you can achieve just that!

A few episodes ago (season 7, episodes 13 and 14) we discussed humility and vulnerability. In this podcast we discuss authenticity and how it correlates with those other two characteristics. In order to be effective in Christian community, we need to be authentic. Being authentic means being true to one's own personality, spirit, or character. Our sinful nature tells us to hide our truth, to not be authentic. But, as we discussed with both of the other qualities, when we are authentic with who we are and with those around us, the only thing that happens is spiritual growth in the image of God. Listen in as the guys discuss this character trait, and see if there are any areas where you could open this up in your life!

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thess 5:16-18). In situations like this, it's important for legacy dads (and moms) to use it as a teachable moment. When we see something like that happen, how do we rejoice? How do we pray? And how do we give thanks? Even in the circumstances where it is difficult to do any of those three things, we are still called to do so because it is God's will for us who are in Christ Jesus. We had the pleasure to interview Fox and Rob Richardson about their upcoming book "Time: The Untold Story of the Love That Held Us Together When Incarceration Kept Us Apart." This is yet another example that there is nothing that God cannot shine through.

As Rob survived two decades at America's bloodiest penitentiary and Fox raised their sons solo, they never stopped fighting for Rob's freedom and for their futures against the statistical odds. The Legacy Dads continue the conversation with Jeff, Joe, and Phil to discuss the ways in which Christians, who are living in their true kingdom identity, are called to mission. Whatever sector of life you are in (there are 7), God calls Christians to "therefore go and make disciples." That involves sacrifice, effort, and most importantly, full faith in where God leads you. Listen in to this episode to hear some truth-bombs being dropped by all the guests. If you aren't inspired to go and do something for the kingdom of God after this conversation, we aren't sure what else we can do! Step 1: shed the false identity and assume your God-given kingdom identity. Step 2: get into true community with other Christians (not fellowship...but actual community...where you're vulnerable with others). Step 3: listen for God...He is always talking. In this episode, the guys interview Dr. Kathy Koch about her new book "Resilient Kids: Raising Them to Embrace Life with Confidence."

From her website: Dr. Kathy Koch (pronounced “cook”) is the Founder and President of Celebrate Kids, Inc., based in Fort Worth, TX, and a cofounder of Ignite the Family, based in Alpharetta, GA. She has influenced thousands of parents, teachers, and children in 30 countries through keynote messages, seminars, chapels, and other events. She is proud to be represented by the Ambassador Speakers Bureau of Nashville, TN. She is a featured speaker for the Great Homeschool Conventions, on the faculty of Summit Ministries, and a frequent presenter for Care Net, Axis, and other organizations. She speaks regularly at schools, churches, and pregnancy resource centers.

Dr. Kathy earned a Ph.D. in reading and educational psychology from Purdue University. She was a tenured associate professor of education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, a teacher of second graders, a middle school coach, and a school board member before becoming a full-time conference and keynote speaker in 1991. She has loved Jesus for years and her faith and desire to serve and glorify God is the foundation of her ministry.

About Resilient Kids:

Children need to believe their future is bright. The more disappointments they don’t recover well from, the less likely they are to dream. When they do not process challenging experiences well it can lead to defeat, rather than encourage them to grow and mature. Far too many children don’t grasp their strengths and, as a result do not believe they can overcome negative encounters. Apathy sets in. Discouragement persists. Arguments rage. Mental health suffers. Children need to be resilient and when they develop this ability and make wise choices it becomes part of their character. Furthermore, they need parents who help them to learn from negative experiences and who allow them a certain measure of struggle. In Resilient Kids moms and dads will learn the power and purpose of resilience and how to parent so as to make it more likely their children will utilize this character quality.

In this second part of a three-part series on modern-day discipleship, we bring back Joe Svoboda and bring in Jeff McDaniel. While Christianity and the Church is growing in some parts of the world, there is a noticeable decline of Christianity in western churches. Why is this? In this first of a three-part series on modern-day discipleship, we interview Joe Svoboda. Joe is the founder of "Reproducible Discipleship." Having served as a discipleship consultant for ministries all over the United States, Africa, Asia and SE Asia, Joe has had the privilege of watching believers grow in discipleship competence with results that transcended cultural barriers. Additionally, he has seen those disciples go on to disciple others, who are now discipling others, who are now discipling others. This generational view of disciple-making is one way in which the western church can start to experience the revival that is definitely needed. As the calendar flips to a new year, many people often take the opportunity to make resolutions to change something, or do something, or not do something...because they believe something about themselves that guides their behavior. That's all well and good, but if all of this is based on a false identity that we have come to believe, then any resolution we make will likely fall apart. In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss the importance of realizing our "kingdom identity" and listening to who (or what) God calls us to be. Once we get that implanted into our being, there's no limit to where He will take us!

God's word about our identity: Jeremiah 29:12-13...you are heard! 2 Timothy 1:7...you have power, love, and discipline! John 15:16...you are set apart! Ephesians 1:7...you are forgiven! 2 Corinthians 5:17...you are redeemed! Romans 8:37-39...you are loved! Zephaniah 3:17...you are exulted over!

On the coattails of last week's episode on vulnerability, Dave and Dante get into the godly trait of humility. It's not weakness, and it's not holding your tongue. It's the opposite of selfishness and pride. And if we want to be more Christ-like, then we need to have humility in our lives. "For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and give His life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). That's the example we need to follow. Be humble!!

As Christians, we are told to expect suffering. But what does that look like? In this episode, Dave and Dante discuss scripture and how it not only tells us to expect suffering, but ways in which we can persevere through it...with the ultimate goal of giving God the glory that He deserves. If you're struggling now (whether through circumstances or choices), we pray this episode opens your eyes to the light in the darkness. "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness shall not overcome it." (John 1:5).

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). These words from Paul to the church in Thessalonica are the framework Dave and Dante use to discuss what Thanksgiving should look like for a Christian and Legacy Dad. A proper focus of gratefulness is aligned towards God - for He is good, and His love endures forever, and His faithfulness continues through all generations (adapted from Psalm 100). Happy Thanksgiving!
