Being successful can many times be tracked by numbers. A successful team wins the championship. A successful business turns a profit year after year. But what about being significant? Can you be successful without being significant? Can you be significant without being successful?

I used to geek out about exercise and training people. Now I have coaches who get to geek out about that stuff. I still love coaching and fitness, but I’ve also learned to love running my business. I had to start “geeking out” about business so that we could continue to geek out about fitness.
Personal motivation will waver based on personal situations. Being accountable to someone else demands progress regardless of personal motivation. Pro tip: find someone to keep you accountable to what you’re trying to accomplish.
Too often we say yes to everything and then get pulled in 10 different directions that take us away from what we should really be focusing on. Saying no doesn’t have to be no forever, but just not right now.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Thacker family and the The LAB gym family. I looked up to Justin and was saddened to hear of his death. His impact on the fitness world will forever be felt. I am grateful for the opportunities I had to learn from him. To this day, he still effects the way that I coach Olympic weightlifting.

My 11 year old wants to play in the NHL. We’ve had to have real world conversations about where his priorities are and how they align with his goal. Do your priorities match up with your goal?
Having knowledge about what foods are made up of and how they effect your results is one of the most freeing pieces of knowledge you can have. When you know what proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are and how much you can eat of each that’s when you can stop worrying about eating on some plan and start having the freedom to personalize your meals. Knowledge truly is POWER!
Training in the gym should be treated like practice. Competition is where mistakes can cost you points, but mistakes in training just allow you to learn.
To be excellent at anything you have to be intentional about your daily process. This is true in all areas of your personal, professional, and even recreational life. Successful people are seldom successful by accident. There’s a method to their madness.
