Minding your business gives you focus. When you’re able to look inward and not outward, you’re able to focus on your goals and what God is telling you. Sometimes religion can give us the impression that if we follow all of the rules that our faith group espouses, we can “fall down” on the things that God actually says are important. This “checklist” way of serving God can make us “pat ourselves on the back” and sadly elevate ourselves above others that have not “arrived” at our spiritual level. Little do we know that this type of arrogance also separates us from God.

When you hear “Christ Over Culture” and get nervous about what you may wear or your vernacular—but that’s not what it is at all. We used to sing all of these songs in the church like "I'm a Soldier in the Army of the Lord" and "I'm on the Battlefield". In today's age, we've fallen out of formation, and into disunity. While we know that God has a purpose over each of lives, it seems that no one wants to work together. In this world today-- as Tupac said-- it’s all eyes on me.

I’m not a big gossiper, so I thought that what the Bible teaches about the tongue did not apply to me. But, oh boy, I realized I have a complaining issue. Complaining can thwart our destiny. We have to use gratitude as a tool to counteract complaining.

Why is it important to have a daily spiritual practice? What does that even mean? The Lord’s prayer includes the line, “Give us this day our daily bread.” And, while we know it means physical food, I believe it also means spiritual food. I believe our daily spiritual practice is an acknowledgment of God’s presence in our lives, but it is mostly a gift to us.

Who's riding with you? I was taking a look at the book of Jonah recently and I saw something I did not see before. God told Jonah to go preach His Word and he did everything he could to run from God and ended up in an unusual predicament. But, I saw something else here in the passage and it’s about relationships.
