Where does evil really come from? The world says the problem is broken systems and corrupt institutions. But the Bible says the problem is in us, and the solution is outside of us. Ephesians 2:1-5 reminds us that even when we are at our worst, God steps in with mercy and grace. This message is about the power of two life-changing words: BUT GOD. No matter how hopeless things may feel, there’s nothing a "But God" can’t fix.
Paul is writing to a group of believers who are staying faithful in a tough culture, and he’s genuinely thankful for them. But when he starts talking about God’s goodness, he almost can’t find the words. He wants them to really see what they already have in Christ; unshakable hope, unbelievable worth, and power beyond anything this world can offer. This message dives into Paul’s passionate prayer in Ephesians 1:15–23, showing us that sometimes the reason we feel distant from God isn’t because He’s far away, it’s because we’ve forgotten how close He actually is. If you’ve ever struggled to understand what God is doing or doubted if He’s really with you, this one’s for you.
Ephesians 1:11-14 encourages believers to fully embrace and activate the spiritual inheritance we have in Christ. Our inheritance is not just a future promise, but a present reality, sealed by the Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of all that is to come. You’ll be challenged to consider what you’re doing with your spiritual “deposit” and inspired to live out the fruits of that inheritance—peace, joy, love, and self-control. This is more than just information or inspiration; it’s a call to transformation.
Do you knock on wood or avoid walking under ladders to keep bad luck away? In ancient Ephesus, people lived in fear of the unseen, using chants and rituals to keep the gods from turning against them. But Ephesians 1 reveals a better way: the God who blesses is already working behind the scenes for our good. God has blessed us in Christ—He chose us, adopted us, redeemed us, and brought us into His eternal plan. You weren’t just born—you were chosen and called. Let this truth shape how you live, think, and worship. Ask yourself: Is my life blessing God? Not just with words, but with a life surrendered to Him.
What can happen in just one hour? In this message, we look at Jesus’ final hour before the cross and how it became the most powerful moment in history. From shame to glory, from death to eternal life... Jesus faced it all, and He prayed for us in the process.
One hour changed everything and it can change you too.
What’s your most painful experience with love? A breakup? Divorce? Loss? We’ve all faced love that ended—but Jesus shows us a love that doesn’t. In this episode, we dive into John 13 and the night Jesus washed His disciples’ feet—even the one who would betray Him. His love doesn’t stop at betrayal. It doesn’t pause at pain. It goes all the way to the end. True love serves. True love costs. And real love calls us to move beyond words into action. No fluff. Just the kind of love that changes everything.
What’s been the most meaningful hour of your life? In John 12, Jesus faced His darkest hour—betrayal, denial, and death—not with fear, but with purpose: “For this purpose I have come to this hour.” His hour was the turning point of history, fulfilling every promise and opening the way for us to face our own. Don’t wait for a sign or the “right time”—even miracles didn’t convince some. Maybe this is your moment, your hour, to stop running and finally trust Him.
Have you ever felt like God was taking too long? In John 2, at a week-long wedding in Cana, the wine runs out—a disaster in that culture. Mary, knowing the weight of shame, turns to Jesus. But He responds, “My hour has not yet come.” In the end, Jesus performs His first miracle, turning water into wine—better than what came before. Trusting Jesus always leads to action. It may feel risky, but it always leads to more than we could imagine. Are you rushing Jesus?
Let's explore four essential principles to a steadfast life as we await the return of the Lord: WORK in peace and holiness, diligently preparing for His coming; TRUST in God’s faithful promises, knowing He will fulfill them; GUARD our hearts and minds from the dangers of false teachings; and GROW in grace and knowledge of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As we are reminded in 2 Peter 3:14-18, these steps will help us stay strong in our faith and continue moving forward, looking toward our promised future.
Have you heard the warning that the day of the Lord will come suddenly, and everything—evil, injustice, and even the earth itself—will be destroyed. So, how should we live? Join us as we look at 2 Peter 3:10-13 to determine if we want to live in fear, arrogance, or in active faith, embracing holiness and godliness. God promises a new heaven and earth where righteousness dwells. Are you ready for that future?
Are you being misled about the end times? In 2 Peter 3:1-9, we see how false teaching distorts God’s truth—fueling fear, doubt, and confusion. It always starts with sinful desire, leading people to question Christ’s return and misinterpret God’s patience as weakness. But here’s the good news: true teaching brings boldness and trust! Don’t let deception shake your faith—grow in grace and stand firm in God’s promises.
False teachers don’t just want your attention—they want your devotion. 2 Peter 2 warns how they lure you in through temptation, manipulate your awe, and disguise deception as truth, all to pull you away from God. Their goal isn’t just influence—it’s your downfall. Stay alert, stand firm, and don’t let deception replace your devotion to God.
Peter’s warning in 2 Peter 2:12-17 is a timeless truth—false teachers are driven by: Greed – Seeking wealth over God's truth. Lust – Using religion to justify sin. Power – Controlling people rather than serving them.
False teachers who secretly introduce destructive heresies, exploit others with deceptive words, and deny the Lord who redeemed them are still active in church today. Their doom is certain, as seen in past examples of God's punishment, like the fallen angels and Sodom and Gomorrah. However, God also rescues the righteous, as He did with Noah and Lot, showing that He knows how to deliver the godly while reserving the wicked for judgment.
In a world filled with uncertainty, we often wonder what we can truly rely on. Peter reminds us that God’s Word is trustworthy and reliable. First, he shows us a death worth living as he faces his own end with purpose, urging us to live boldly and firmly rooted in God’s truth. Even in his final moments, he wants us to remember the gospel. Then, he shares a message worth believing, emphasizing that the gospel is not a clever myth, but the sure revelation of God’s truth, witnessed by those who saw Christ’s glory firsthand. Today, let’s dive into why we can stand firm on God’s Word and let it shape our lives.
Peter reminds us that through Christ, we’ve been given a new nature, equipped with everything we need for life and Godliness. This transformation empowers us to escape the corruption of sin and live according to God’s promises. But this new life isn’t just about believing, it’s about becoming. Peter calls us to build on our faith with virtues like knowledge, self-control, and love, which keep us fruitful and growing in our relationship with Jesus. and in our knowledge and understanding of Grace.
Today, we celebrate 9 years of God's faithfulness at Restore Church in Portsmouth, VA! Vision Sunday is here, and we’re reflecting on all God has done while looking ahead to the exciting future He has for us. This is a time to unite as a church family, embrace the vision for 2025, and step into the next chapter with faith and purpose. Whether you’ve been with us from the start or are just joining us, today is a powerful day of worship, celebration, and vision.
Let’s celebrate all God has done and believe for even greater things ahead!
In this sermon, we’ll explore the powerful story of Hannah from 1 Samuel 1:3-20 and learn how to pray when life doesn't go as planned—when bad news hits, or when we feel too weary to even pray.
Hannah's journey reveals that even in the midst of unfulfilled desires, personal struggles, and uninvited advice from those around us, there is a deeper way to approach God. We’ll look at the tension between seeking validation from the world (social, financial, physical) and choosing to depend on the Creator who knows us better than anyone else.
What is the big deal about confessing sin if we as believers already acknowledge personally what we have done wrong? Through the voices of prophets, the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and moments of personal reflection, God calls us to face the truth. When we’re honest with God, it transforms our hearts and makes us more authentic in our relationships with others. Join us as we unpack the power of repentance, the call to genuine honesty, and how this leads to true transformation in our lives.
Where does prayer start, and what makes it powerful? Prayer is meant to align our hearts with God’s will, trusting that He will move in our lives and bring His kingdom on earth. It’s not just about asking; it’s about believing His power and trusting in His faithfulness.
Are you in a season of waiting? In this sermon, we’ll explore Acts 1:4-11 and how faithful waiting always involves faithful working. Waiting isn’t passive, it’s an opportunity to focus on God’s eternal Kingdom and actively live out your faith. Learn how to stay purposeful, trust in God’s timing, and rely on the Holy Spirit for strength as you wait.
Are you waiting on God to do a miracle in your life? In today’s message from Luke 1, we’ll see how sometimes the miracles we’re looking for are already happening in ways we don’t expect. We often focus on the big, dramatic moments while God is at work in the small, everyday things too—revealing His bigger plan.
The true miracle of Christmas is that God saves us through Jesus, and it’s amazing that He invites us to be a part of what He’s doing. God is working, even when we don’t see it.
Life has a way of testing our patience, doesn’t it? Whether you’re waiting on an answer, a breakthrough, or a sense of direction, the in-between can feel overwhelming. Yet, what if this season of waiting is not wasted? What if, in the quiet moments of uncertainty, God is revealing Himself in ways we might be missing? In today’s message, we're going to explore how even in the waiting, God is present and working.
How is waiting on God an often-overlooked power? Waiting isn’t just about passing time—it’s a season that forces us to reflect on our lives, understand God’s truth more deeply, and realign our priorities. Through the lens of Isaiah 64:1-12, we’ll discover how waiting on God has always been part of His plan to shape and transform us.
What’s the most memorable gift you’ve ever received? Not the most expensive, but the one that truly touched your heart. In this episode, we reflect on how the best gifts often come from a deep understanding of what we value—just like Jesus taught us last week. Money can be helpful, but it can also be hazardous. Let’s explore what really makes a gift meaningful.
When we prioritize money, we let it replace God in our hearts. We begin to depend on it as we should depend on God, making it our master instead of a tool. As Jesus said, we cannot serve two masters (Luke 16:13), and we cannot be both friends with the world and with God (James 4:4). This is the problem with money.
In Numbers 33:1-2, as the Israelites remember their wandering, we’re reminded to celebrate God’s faithfulness not just in big moments, but in the small ones too. It is important to create a rhythm of remembrance—pausing regularly to reflect and give thanks for God’s presence in every part of our lives. Join us as we explore how to keep a heart of remembrance alive every day.
Let's explore the story of Balak and Balaam from Numbers 22-24, where Balak tries to hire the famous seer Balaam to curse Israel. Despite conflicting instructions from God—first saying "no," then "go"—Balaam’s journey reveals key lessons about waiting on God's timing and understanding His plan, even when it's unclear. Tune in to discover how God's sovereignty and our motives intersect while navigating uncertainty.
We’re diving into a powerful topic: the danger of mocking God’s provision in our lives, much like the Israelites did with the manna that sustained them for 40 years. This manna symbolizes Christ, and when we embrace cultural Christianity, we risk diminishing His sacrifice. Jesus didn’t die so we could take control; the call to follow Him is non-negotiable. Let’s explore what that truly means for us today.
The Bible is refreshingly honest, revealing not just the triumphs but also the failures of its greatest heroes. This morning, we will continue looking at one of the most significant figures in Scripture: Moses. Despite his incredible leadership and the miraculous acts he performed, Moses also made mistakes that had lasting consequences.
What do you do while waiting in traffic? It’s frustrating, but it can also be a chance for reflection. Moses learned patience while leading the Israelites, reminding us that waiting can be a time for growth. Today, we’ll explore Moses life and see how he turned moments of waiting into opportunities. How God taught Moses and used Moses to continue His Story for all of mandkind. Let’s embrace the journey!
Have you noticed that the American economy is often driven by desire? More ads for products reflect how marketers tap into our wants, blurring the lines between need and want. This creates a culture of consumption where we chase the next best thing instead of appreciating what we have now. Today, we’ll explore God's word to see why God makes us wait. Let’s dive in!
Have you ever tried to fight the ocean's current at the beach, without sinking your feet into the sand for stability? Or maybe you've watched a sport game unfold in a downpour, with players struggling to find their footing in the mud and snow? Today, we’re going to explore another powerful message in 1 Peter and connect it with Matthew 7:24-27. Just like those players need a solid foundation to stand firm against the elements, we, too, need our spiritual grounding to resist the forces at play around and within us.
Who is a leader that has blessed your life? Being honest with ourselves it is not going to be the President of our nation or some celebrity figure we have never met or talked to. Watching a video where a person shares promises for change or steps to attain wealth is not really blessing us. Leaders that have blessed your life have to have an integral part of the world around you. Leadership is a buzzword among Christian circles and in churches but what does God say about leadership?
Rejection isn't a problem to solve, it is a tension to live in. This statement sums up I Peter 4:12-19 but Pastor Brian dives deeper. Check out todays message and learn how scripture teaches not to live as "Sunday Saints and Monday Aint's"!
Want to know a true test of love in the "American Church"? Consider the vast differences represented politically inside of any church. The person you spent time reading the Bible with probably has very different political views. This is what makes the Church of Jesus the largest coalition of unlikely brothers and sisters in history.
What scares you? How have your fears changed as you get older? I would assume financial security is now more fearful than your night light not being turned on after dark. As believers we should not struggle with fear yet we all still do. Even telling ourselves not to fear often does not seem to help. So here is your reminder of where true hope comes from as we continue the Stand Firm series. No matter who wins election, which nation is on the rise or fall, the trajectory of economy... THE KING has ultimate authority. So why mope as if we don’t know the end of this story? King Jesus wins!!
Peter does not make friends when it comes to wives and husbands relationships when reading from todays view. However, when Peter was writing about "submissive wives" and "loving husbands" the culture and society was drastically different from what it is today. So let's learn together what God teaches about husbands and wives in I Peter 3.
Common lies believed in society today is, "If my heart wants it then it must be good" or, "follow your heart" or, "do what makes you happy." While this belief may make us feel empowered in it does not live out well in real life scenarios. Work places would be a mess if everyone followed their heart rather than their job description. Road systems all over the world would be absolute mayhem if each driver followed their heart rather than rules of the road. Law enforcement and public servants would be overwhelmed with emergency calls if every person lived for their hearts desires rather than the laws of their land. Scripture teaches how to follow Christ and be able to guide our hearts desires to align with Jesus rather than self.
What do you think of when you hear the word church? Many picture beautiful cathedrals, tall auditoriums, steeples, stained glass and so on. Peter knew the physical Temple was being destroyed and the new temple would be God’s people. So how do we live as the temple according to Peter?
Peter tells readers in 1 Peter to "love with brotherly love" because the word love was a buzzword used to describe feelings rather than commitments. He is saying to Love Sincerely which is more than affection. So how does truth affect how we show love or live out love? Can Truth inform us how to love and love well?
Holiness is a word that is thrown around a lot in church life culture. However, most of us don’t truly understand holiness. We treat holiness as something we can't or shouldn't do but holiness is more than that. Holiness is "set apart" living and Peter reminds us that it starts with mindset rather than action.
Culture is constantly shifting around us. Some shifts are obvious while some shifts are subtle. However, both shifts are unbiblical and if we aren’t careful we will follow culture on some fronts & fight culture on others. So, how should we stand firm in the faith and what does that even mean? Fortunately for us we aren’t the first generation of believers to face changing culture.
Who have you discipled since you have become a believer? Who has discipled you since you have given your life to Christ? Could it be that believers are more concerned with their own problems and spiritual struggles that we don't take opportunity to encourage and lift other believers up. Not because we don't have the knowledge but because we don't have the desire to.
How often in life are we looking for the next big mountain top experience? High School Graduation; College Graduation; First Career Job; Marriage; Kids; Vacations; Etc. In our spiritual lives we can often focus on the Big Things while never giving a second thought to the daily living for Christ. In today's sermon Pastor Marc reminds us from scripture the importance of keeping the small things a priority so we are ready to face the lows of life and celebrate the highs!
Steps in a Christians walk can be categorized into Outward Steps (easier) and Inward Steps (more difficult). Outward steps are things like Baptism, Fellowship, Serving and Giving while Inward steps revolve around Prayer, Word, Discipleship and Submission. While these lists are not exhaustive they give a good direction for spiritual growth!
Following Jesus is very simple yet difficult at the same time. Four necessary elements here are desire, denial, embracing the cross, and following. Most of us confuse desire for the whole of it. Desire is the start, but not the end.
What we memorialize says a lot about a culture. What we choose to remember and what we choose to forget reveals what we value. This is one reason God instructed the Israelites to “remember” so often.
In the last session for the Peace of Mind series we hope one thing is abundantly clear, You are not alone! God cares about your mind. More than just being made aware of a problem we hope you've seen that God offers solutions and a path toward wholeness. Following Jesus can help heal our mind and we will close our series with wisdom given from Paul in Ephesians.
Our culture is at war over who gets to determine truth for the next generation. Countless moms are frustrated by hidden agendas in children’s cartoons, disappointed in the school system and weary from explaining to their kids for the millionth time why they don’t have their own phone yet. So what does scripture say about motherhood? Should moms be fighting the good fight alone or is it ok to seek help from others?
Do you know a person who seems to know when you are struggling? Do you know someone who seems to always ask "How are you" and really mean it? Do you feel that you are that person who is always checking on others but never being checked on yourself? In the book of Ruth we can see Naomi love her daughter in law, Ruth but also share burnout and fatigue with her. What do you need to help you overcome or avoid burnout?
"Stop being anxious!" If you are like others, those words bring frustration and uncertainty. While the Bible teaches not to worry and tells us not to be anxious we continue fretting over life. Dan Millman once said "you don’t have to control your thoughts you just can’t let your thoughts control you." So instead of the worlds view of offering self-helps or turning over a new leaf why don't we look at what scripture teaches about an anxious mind?
If a person deals with depression can they be a Christian? Shouldn't Christians be able to avoid mental health issues by simply trusting God to "carry them through"? Does that Bible even talk about mental health and overcoming what is viewed as brokenness? Pastor Brian shares from a very real and honest perspective of how God and His word can help each of us overcome mental trauma while continuing to grow in Christ.
Studies show that worry is most often a result of a desire for control mixed with fear of the unknown. So we worry about not being in control of a situation that may or may not cause a disruption in our life. As Christians our worry may not be defeated like other sins and struggles in our lives because we don't see it as a road block that probably affects our relationship with God.
What’s something you’ve tried to practice and improve, but no matter how hard you try you can’t seem to do it any better? Basketball, Cooking, listening, etc. Sometimes we try to improve something or fix something in our lives when we really need to seek help from other people or sources. In this series, we will start with truth, move to common myths and end with truth!
You ever hear something you can’t wait to share? Maybe it’s good news, bad news, juicy gossip. The Pharisees and the chief priest had a situation that required making up a story to cover any word of a resurrection. They shared a lie to keep the truth from getting out. How might we be like the Pharisees?
Think through all of the contracts you are involved in (gym membership, mortgage/lease, car note, streaming service, etc) and try to determine which contract/agreement in your life has been the best deal? As Americans, we often times live and die by the contracts. Hold up your end of the contract or the deal is voided. So did you know God built his redemptive story through covenants with the main difference being that He does His part, even when we fail to do our part!
Why do we feel the need to jump into a dating relationship with the intent of hearing the words "I love you" and setting a wedding date? If we would slow our dating role it may in turn help our marriage. As we learn to honor Christ in our dating relationship it will lead to honoring Christ in our marriage!
If you could change 2 aspects of your marriage what would you change? Many of us assume more money, better schedule, more attractive version of self or spouse, but what would you change to improve your marriage? Today’s passage is very misunderstood, but in it Paul lays out the framework for a healthy marriage. There are 2 key ingredients that are necessary: Respect and Sacrifice.
Marriage is much easier when you want to raise kids, plan your weekend, determine what values your home will and won’t celebrate if you both are on the same page. Paul knows you can’t build a foundation together if you’re not even in agreement what to build a life upon. Who we spend the most time with will influence our faith, values, our world view and so much more.
Would it surprise you to know that the average age for marriage today is 28.5 for females and 30 for males? It’s no wonder most don’t save sex for marriage as people are now on average, 15-20 years beyond puberty by the time they are married. So was Paul right when he said "it is good not to be married" or when he said to marry quickly if "they cannot control themselves?" Maybe Paul was addressing people who view marriage as an idol or status to obtained above the blessing that God ordains through marriage.
There are so many questions to consider for lasting relationships. Why do most marriages fail? How do I know if someone is "marriage material"? How do I know if I am? How can I prepare for marriage? How do we protect our marriage from being another statistic? What does a healthy relationship look like anyway? By the time we think through all of the "what ifs" we may conclude that marriage will require too many feelings which may exhaust us. Marriage is a commitment of personal sacrifice to your spouse for the purpose of a Christ centered relationship in your marriage!
Remember when you thought being an adult was when you’d really enjoy life? Graduating HS, College, Marriage. We all thought the next season would be so perfect that’s when we’d be happy. So how do our current expectations align with individuals whose stories are shared in scripture?
Restore is celebrating 8 years on this Vision Sunday. While we continue to study the book of Joshua we will celebrate what God has done in and through Restore in 2023 while looking forward to what He is continuing to lead us to.
Have you ever watched a team get caught for cheating while having an incredible season? They fell into the lie that rules don’t apply to them. Every “rule” has a reason. God’s Word has endured because this guide for living applies in every generation. Passages used in todays message force us to deal with hard truths: sin, punishment and God’s holiness.
How many cliche terms have you heard referencing the beginning of a new year? New Year, New You or others. How much time have you spent planning out the changes for your new year? Have you ever reminisced about the good God has done in the previous year before making plans for what's next? Join us as we reminisce 2023 while dreaming about what's next.
Do you get tired of being asked what you want for Christmas? As kids we assumed stuff under the tree would make us happy. As we get older we look for bigger stuff or more expensive stuff which leads to storage problems. Given enough time the day hits us that no purchased gift can really bring us joy when we are broken inside. This is where God does His best work. He didn’t send us Jesus to give us what we
want but to offer what we needed most: Peace
Christs birth all the way to His ascension to heaven was predicted hundreds of years before by prophets. We can ask "what is the likelihood" of such happenings but it is more relevant to look at the history of and how each of these prophecies was fulfilled in real life.
When Jesus was born why did God announce the news of the Saviors birth to the Shepherds first? Pastor Brian shares insight into the importance of shepherds hearing of the Saviors birth as well as offering first hand insight into the landscape of Bethlehem and how it played a role in sending a message of salvation to the world.
The "Wise Men" brought 3 Types of Gifts (Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh) to honor the arrival of Jesus. So what is the symbolic meaning attached to each gift and how can we have better insight into Jesus being our ultimate Prophet, Priest and King?
What significance does The Star have in the story of Christ coming to earth as Savior of the world? How do the Rich Rulers or Magi play into the story and how does this all pertain to us today? Listen as pastor shares how Gratitude has always lead to Giving throughout Christian history.
Have you ever heard of a 501c3 or non-profit ask individuals to stop giving because they had too much? How about a church? Ever seen a pastor stand up and tell the congregation that giving is no longer wanted because there is too much to distribute? Scripture tells about a time that deep gratitude led God’s people to give to the Lord so sacrificially Moses had to tell them to stop giving.
Have you noticed every time there’s major conflict in the middle east our hearts get nervous? Some Christians are quick to say this means Jesus return is imminent, as if it wasn’t already. But isn't the return of Christ supposed to be good news for believers? As we are reminded of the imminent coming of Christ are we challenged to share Him with others or are we just wrapped up in fear and anxiety of what "the end" will look like for us?
Praising and thanksgiving go hand in hand. It’s impossible to praise God without being thankful and just as impossible to be thankful without praising God. So how can we practice continued gratitude according to scripture. Pastor Marc shares practical applications from scripture of how we can consistently practice gratitude.
Have you ever felt overlooked or wondered if anyone is noticing you? Psychologists actually believe now that we suffer from something called hurry sickness which is defined as a behavior pattern characterized by continual rushing and anxiousness, or an uncomfortable feeling in which someone feels chronically short of time, and so tends to perform every task faster and to get flustered when encountering any kind of delay.
Have you ever come to Sunday and felt so exhausted you considered skipping the fellowship of believers? Maybe you have considered stepping away from Sunday gatherings to gain more personal time during your week. Pastor Brian shares from Mark 6 that if you don’t make time for your wellness you will be forced to make time for your illness.
Every year, about 2.7 million church members drop from church membership. One of the main reasons is attributed to church members leaving as hurt and wounded by other church members, not God. The church is composed of flawed people, so hurt will inevitably occur so what should I do if the church hurt me?
What sets Christianity up as a relationship versus all of the other religions that are observed in the world? Can we know without a doubt that Jesus is God's son and that he not only gave his life but also raised from the dead? And how do the disciples play into giving proof that the gospel is true? This week pastor shares 4 evidences that the resurrection really happened.
Maybe you grew up going to church and God became more of a lifestyle than a relationship. Watching other Christians live a seemingly worry free life with no signs of doubt ever obvious. Then as you grew and the doubts began to come you tried to convince yourself there is no room for doubt here. Facing doubt alone can be discouraging but God intended for us to be surrounded by believers who can help us as we navigate our questions and doubts.
"Doubt Your Doubts" sounds like an "oxymoron" when it comes to a believers Faith in God. How is doubting my doubts even possible and can it help me grow in my spiritual walk? Pastor Marc looks to the Psalms to offer a path of dealing with our feelings by praying through them.
Doubt can often bring turmoil in a believers life but how can doubt be necessary? Could our Christian "lifestyle" be a contributing factor to our doubt? This week our guest speaker, Chad Minter, shares how scripture can point to the necessity of doubt in order to lead to spiritual growth!
Maybe you grew up in a home/church that considered doubt to be a reflection of a weak relationship with God. Maybe in turn this has lead to the belief that doubt is a sign of unbelief. While doubt will always be an issue we deal with, the truth is that Church should be a safe place to deal with doubt. After all, doubt is an opportunity for us to grow in our Faith!
Are we doing our part to pass down the goodness and favor and mercy of our God to the next generation? While Gen Z and Gen Alpha are considered the most connected generations to date they are also the most disconnected generation. But could this be a result former generations not communicating well and keeping God's truths silent?
Marriages have been full of disappointment when spouses realize that working to change their spouse is impossible which often leads to separation and divorce. Much like marriages, individuals feel that if they could change those around them to be more like themselves that life would be easier. This has been true throughout history but Paul has a very different take on the change that needs to take place in order to be able to make a friend. In the midst of persecution that often lead to death, Paul still encourages individuals to love their persecutor.
How do you know when a person has changed? I mean truly changed! We have all faced situations where we have lost trust in a person or persons and when they come back and say, "I'm different now. I have really changed", we proceed with extreme caution. Pastor Marc shares how scripture can help identify true change in others as well as ourselves.
Hearing from God is more than waiting for a thundering voice. Many times we miss what God is saying because we are too busy to listen.

Have you ever felt your prayer life isn't making much of a difference? Maybe it seems like you are closing your eyes and wasting time as your mind wanders while you try and talk with God. Our prayers are too often so easy that we can't know if God answered our prayers and sometimes we are praying for God to work in others rather than dealing with us. Jesus had opportunities to speak to individuals Faith while on earth and His teachings on prayer are perfect.
A restaurant or department stores primary goal is to create a mentality of consumption in order to draw people in for a profit. From sharing how an item will change your life to how a certain food dish will satisfy your hunger we are surrounded by consumerism. This culture of consumerism can easily transfer into the church and deter us from servitude that Christ calls His followers to.
"The Church" has impacted this world in ways that are often overlooked. Why does the churches impact get a bad wrap or overlooked for its impact? Have we lost our salt and light impact on the world? What causes the church to stop being "The Church"? Pastor Marc shares scripture and history of the church and its impact on the world and a big part is community!
Why don't we practice and live it out self-control on a daily basis? Shouldn't self-control be a natural reaction as a believer of Christ? Self-control will only become a regular habit if it is practiced and checked on a consistent basis!
If everything that God created was good then why the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil? Wasn't the tree responsible for bringing enmity between man and the Creator? What if we were never created to know evil? What if we were not created to know good? Then what was the purpose of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and what is my purpose now?
Faithfulness is an easy enough concept but oftentimes so hard to remain loyal to. The fruit of the spirit includes faithfulness while scripture gives examples of what faithfulness truly means.
"Good" is a basic term that in the English language has many different meaning. So when we ask what makes a person good it is more than just a cliche question. Scripture talks about good and its meaning and we can learn how to be "good" in the midst of societal pressures.
The saying, "It is free to be kind" is referring to surface level kindness. Pastor Marc continues the series on The Fruit of the Spirit and dives into what Kindness from scripture really looks like.
You are not alone in the feeling of living a chaotic life all while trying to find peace. Everyone faces "chaos" in their lives each day but we can live with peace in the midst of chaos.
Who is the most joyful person you know? Would my name or your name come up as being joyful if our family and friends were asked this question? If not, Why? Pastor Marc shares items that scripture points out as being Joy killers in our lives.
Isn't it frustrating when we clean and organize only to turn around a few moments later to do it all over again? Dishes never end, laundry continues to pile up and no-one seems to care about the work that goes into de-cluttering, organizing and keeping an area clean. And our lives are very much the same way. Sin can rule our lives if and when we focus on the sin rather than focusing on the cure or path to freedom. Pastor Marc shares wisdom given by Paul in Galatians and I Corinthians about dealing with underlying, root causes of sin.
Hope was confirmed when Christ resurrected. Many individuals, including some of the disciples felt hopeless, dejected and alone because they didn't realize Jesus would resurrect after 3 days.
Palm Sunday reminds us that the reign of Christ is far greater than any man's mind could ever conceive or plan. God had the ultimate plan of sending His Son to fight the final battle over death. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey symbolizing peace reather than hostility. Jesus was reminding followers that He is the Prince of Peace.
Who is the most confident person you know? There is a difference between confidence and cockiness. Confidence is an unwavering and steadfast demeanor in all situations. So where do we find true confidence that will carry us through the inevitable ups and downs life?
Once upon a time, there was a world with no trouble and everything was grounded in truth. Then humankind messed up truth when our desires came into play which has brought about an ongoing battle for Truth. How can we determine truth much less know that what we believe is true? Pastor Marc shares in the message how truth can be tested and confirmed from scripture.
Every believer has the power to be an overcomer and can be victorious because they have eternal life in Christ. God's Spirit lives within the believer to provide power over the battles of this world.
Jacob was known as a manipulator for most of his life until he wrestled with God. At the end of the night when God calls an end to the wrestling He ask Jacob, "What is your name?" Pastor Kevin shares how God may be asking our name to find out who we really are instead of just a formal meet and greet. Jacob finally came to terms with who he was and that is when God was able to begin making changes in him.
Sometimes when we are living on mission we can feel like we are missing out leading to personal dysfunctional dialogue:
Doubt (we doubt Gods word and His goodness)
Discourages (we look at problems rather than God)
Diversion (we look at wrong thing because wrong thing looks attractive)
Division (we follow things that separate us from God)
Defeat (things that make us feel like a failure)
Delay (make us put off what needs to happen out of fear)
Often times we want others to follow us without giving proper leadership to follow. In todays sermon we are reminded that leading without biblical direction is toxic to not only ourselves but those we are leading.
As humans we often get love wrong. We want love to be a feeling or emotion but in reality it is an action. Pastor Marc shares scripture of how loving others more than self is the form of True Love.
Who is the G.O.A.T. when it comes to your favorite sport or activity? Super Bowl Sunday, David Postlewaite introduced and reintroduced us to the undisputed and undefeated G.O.A.T to ever walk the earth and live a human life. Join us as we are giving Biblical insight into who Jesus really was and still is!
In a fast changing world it may seem impossible to determine what is true in many areas of our life. So, when societal influences claim truth but often contradict one another how can we determine truth? I John 4:1-6 gives insight to finding truth in God's word instead of trusting human opinion.
We realized our need for a Savior, repented of our sins, prayed the "sinners prayers" and are striving to live for God. Now doubt is creeping in or maybe we don't "feel saved." Pastor Marc shares how doubt is a feeling that does not determine our relationship with God.
John had a love for individuals where he was willing to be killed by them if it meant that they would begin or return to their relationship with God. How does our love for others equate to the early disciples who followed Jesus daily?
John reminds believers of the blessing of being called Children of God but what does that really mean? John calls believers to "BEHOLD what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us."

Peace is not a place but rather a lifestyle that God invites us to. Join us as Pastor Marc shares a true story example from Matthew 1 on obtaining a lifestyle of Peace.
Have you ever desired something that you knew God could grant but gave up hope after waiting and praying? Pastor Marc shared that his desire every Christmas from the time he was six was a go-cart that he never received. Zechariah wanted a child and had pursued God for all of his life trusting that God would provide. However, when Gabriel appeared to him to share that he and Elizabeth would conceive a son, Zechariah questioned. Join us as we study Hope, Peace, Love and Joy in todays sermon.
Pastor Marc gives more insight into chapter 3 of I John as he shares the danger of intentionally practicing sin in order to get better at it in place of practicing righteous living. We are challenged not to practice "doing" but rather practice "being".
Practice being:
In this passage Paul references the anti-Christ and warns readers to focus their attention on "Abiding" instead of trying to identify who the anti-christ may be. Pastor Marc also reiterates the difference between following Christ rather than abiding in Him.
There are many times the Bible talks of people singing and praising God and even dancing before the Lord. What does this type of joy look like and how do we obtain it in the midst of busy schedules and uncertain times? Thankfully the Bible gives great insight into what true Joy means and John shares principles of achieving biblical joy!
Have you considered how the letters shared in the Bible are broken into chapters and verses but when written were a continuous letter? Ever wondered why chapters and verses were added? Pastor Marc not only shares the practicality of chapters and verses but also the insight of what John had faced and was currently facing when writing this letter.
How far would you go to be able to hear the last living apostle speak in your church? Listen in as Pastor Marc shares the 5 words that John would share with churches when visiting them in his final days on this earth.
May we read I John 1 and be reminded of the truth that is shared in scripture.
Throughout history we see people groups and nations chasing after knowledge with the end goal of peace and understanding. Have you ever bought into the false facade that knowledge would bring ultimate peace and long lasting rest? Listen as Pastor Marc how even those who were close with God and followers of Jesus while on earth still faced this challenge!

How often do we look in the mirror to see things that we wish we could change about ourselves? Maybe our nose, height, hair or many other things that we have determined are keeping us from "Being" more. How is it that Adam and Eve were created and the Bible says they were unashamed of how they were made? Join us as Pastor Marc shares real life struggles that create restlessness in ourselves leading to us missing what God's purpose is for our lives!

Continuing the Finding Rest series, Pastor Marc looks into the fact that maybe we aren't resting because we are not achieving the results that we feel are necessary. Continuing the Finding Rest series, Pastor Marc shares in our current modern world full of technology, distractions seem neverending. Sometimes we are too busy focusing on the world around us, and the distractions it brings, to see the blessings that God is working on right in front of us. It is too easy to buy into the lie that I need to do more now so I can find rest later.
