Many of us stop playing as we get older. We become so consumed with the business of life that we no longer create time to have fun.

We may have distractions or activities we do that we say are fun, but Brian O'Loughlin joins me in this episode to explore what play and fun really mean, and how creating time for this in our lives can have positive outcomes for our health, relationships and sense of self.

Dr.Ríoghnach O'Leary is a forensic psychologist who works largely with male offenders who have committed violent or sexual crimes.

Her work gives Ríoghnach a unique look into the minds and behaviours of people who have done things that most consider terrible and inconceivable.

However the truth is that the capacity for both great and terrible acts lives within each of us, and in this conversation we explore the reasons why we become the people we are, and the factors that influence our behaviours, addictions and world views.

We cover the power of environment, the impact of trauma, parenting, crime, the differences between psychology and psychiatry, societal and cultural influences and much more.

A fascinating conversation.

Brian O'Loughlin joins me to discuss the strategies we're exploring to create more space in our lives to do absolutely nothing.

Living busy lives has become a badge of honour, but without space to think you are simply existing from one day to the next. To live a your life by design, and not by default, it is vital to have space to be creative, to plan, to reflect and to think.

We explore the relationship between your time, money and energy, and how each can be leveraged to create that space, and how creating space can also to lead to creating more of each of these elements too.

I had a little accident. What happened next reminded me how good people are, and that despite losing ourselves in today's fast pace society and the prevalence of fear, depression and lack of connection, there is real compassion just under the surface.

Have a listen and enjoy.

Aisling Fox of AoK Nutrition joins me on this episode for a great chat about a collection of topics that really don’t receive anywhere near the level of attention they deserve. Aisling is a Naturopath, a Nutritional Therapist, is currently studying Herbal Medicine and specialises in Female Hormones.

In this episode Aisling explains the current landscape of the various contraceptive methods, from the pill to the coil and everything in between, and how the long term use of these methods is leading to a wide range of health issues for a huge number of women. She outlines the complexity of libido, sex drive and fertility, and the factors that are causing problems for many in these areas, especially lifestyle and health choices

Aisling also highlights the importance of identifying the root causes of health and wellness concerns, and taking an individual approach rather than simply settling for the standard blueprint model, and she tells me about the incredible efficacy of nutrition, and more specifically the use of herbs, when it comes to empowering yourself and managing your health.

A fantastic conversation, thank you Aisling.

Sarah Moloney is a personal trainer and coach who’s currently working on her Masters in Clinical Nutrition, but she’s also someone who suffers with the chronic disease known as endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a condition that causes a growth of fibrous tissue, similar to that found in the uterus, around many of the organs, leading to a huge range of symptoms such as chronic pain, fatigue, excessive bleeding and a plethora of other concerns that can, in many cases, completely alter your lifestyle and general quality of life. Sarah shares her own story in this episode, and explains to me what exactly this disease is, how it can present, the various levels of treatment (along with the varying levels of efficacy that go with those treatments), how it affects a huge number of people around the globe, and how it is still so poorly understood and managed, even in the world of modern medicine.

The most striking element of this episode is just how much a chronic disease like this, which is not technically classed as a ‘fatal’ condition, can take from your body, your relationships and your life.

Sarah is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to not just endometriosis, but health and wellness in general, and this is a very insightful chat about the medical system, self empowerment, education, suffering, human nature, and so much more.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us Sarah.

His deep understanding of how the human mind functions when it comes to changing and creating habits has allowed him to build systems for himself, systems he can call on when the world inevitably throws multiple spanners in the works, to steady the ship during rocky times, to enhance his performance and ultimately to improve his quality of life. Darren is a friend of mine, and I’ve been so eager for him to share this knowledge with me and with others, so we can hear first hand how making small consistent changes in your life is actually the secret to achieving great success, whatever that success looks like to you.

Almost exactly one year since he joined me on the very first episode of the Prymal Podcast, the masterful Eoin Lacey is back!

Eoin is a performance consultant, which essentially means that he uses an in-depth knowledge of health, wellness, nutrition, medicine, strength and conditioning, habit formation and many more facets of optimal living to help his clients, other coaches and you and I achieve our performance goals.

While this might sound like the CV for an elite Olympic level sprint coach, which Eoin has probably been at some point, the incredible truth is that when you listen to him discuss all of these different aspects of the human being, it doesn’t matter who you are or what your goals are, you can employ so many of his teachings to so many different parts of your life, and if you do, you are guaranteed to be leveling up your health, your function, your wellbeing and end up feeling utterly empowered.

In this episode we touch on many different aspects of being ‘healthier’, and we specifically discuss hormonal health for both men and women, and the important part this plays in the big picture, and also Eoin’s thoughts and advice on the type of physical activity and training that can contribute to a more resilient and robust person designed to manage the stresses of life.
