The soles have a sharper leading edge, minimal camber, more bounce, and more effective bounce due to a slightly wider sole, therefore creating a “fast in, fast out” turf interaction. This goes back to the original clubs I grew up playing with… which may or may not have been inspired by the MP-14’s and MP-29’s 😜

  • “The most important club for me, probably in my bag, is this A grind. I use the SM9 60 degree A grind, which is a low bounce 60, which I think is very versatile. And I'm able to – on tight lies, rough, wet lies, firm lies, whatever it is – I can hit the shot I want. And with the amount of spin I want, trajectory and everything. So these SM9s are I think the best wedges ever made.”

  • Said Vokey Rep Aaron Dill on Clark’s lob wedge: “The 60A was a co-design project with Geoff Ogilvy. That's how it started. It was based off of Australian Sand Belt golf courses – firm and tight. It's essentially an L grind with a ribbon removed, a smooth, fast moving wedge. It's a really low bounce, close sitting wedge, built for firm and fast conditions.”

The Masters!

Jon Rahm plays brilliantly on the final day to claim his first Green Jacket and second major.

LIV players perform well with 3 players in the top 5.

Rory missed the cut again!

Mickelson found the fountain of youth on Sunday.

Notable details

Rahm returns to the top of the Official World Golf Ranking with his win at Augusta, climbing from third to first to displace 2022 Masters winner Scottie Scheffler at the summit.

He is the second player to double-bogey the first hole of his opening round at the Masters and then go on to win, joining Sam Snead (1952).

Rahm becomes the fourth Spaniard to celebrate victory at the Masters, following in the footsteps of two-time winners Seve Ballesteros and José María Olazábal, and Sergio Garcia.

He has also now won four titles in 2023, having already won the Sentry Tournament of Champions, the American Express and the Genesis Invitational earlier this season on the PGA TOUR.

The Spaniard’s success came 40 years after Ballesteros’ second Masters win in 1983.

Rahm’s Augusta triumph came on what would have been Ballesteros’ 66th birthday.

Masters Rahm numbers
- ranking second in the field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee

  • Rahm hit more than 85% of his fairways while averaging more than 295 yards off the tee, the first Masters champion to do that since stats were first tracked in detail forty years ago.

  • Only three other players in history have come from multiple shots back through 54 holes to win both the U.S. Open and the Masters:

  • Gene Sarazen (1922 U.S. Open, 1935 Masters),
  • Byron Nelson (1937 Masters, 1939 U.S. Open),
  • Jack Nicklaus (1962 U.S. Open, 1986 Masters).

  • Henley, gaming a Pro V1x golf ball and full bag of Titleist equipment, opened the week with consecutive 63’s on his way to setting the tournament scoring record at 23 under par.

  • He made 25 birdies (T1) over the four days in Mexico while playing his first 58 holes bogey-free, getting up and down 15 consecutive times during that stretch.

  • Henley, 33, led the field in driving accuracy (78.6%) while finishing second in both Scrambling (90.5%) and One Putts (42).

Rory!!!

McIlroy comes from 6 back to top Scottie Scheffler in the Tour Championship and win the FedEx Cup.

Helped by a couple good breaks coming down the stretch, missteps by SungJea Im and a bulky putter from Scheffler.

  • Amazing birdie on 15 to put the pressure on

  • McIlroy can putt!

Rory wins both gross and net divisions…hahaha

Big win for Rory and The PGA Tour.

Rory wins tour championship for a 3rd time, first 3 time Fedex cup champ

  • Rory’s jab… Its really nice to take the lead on the 70’th hole… or the 52nd if you play somewhere else

How much will losing a 6 shot lead affect Scottie moving forward?

Tourney comments

  • Nice to see a course that didn’t have 40 yards of roll

  • 15 might be the meanest golf hole on tour 221 par 3, island green

Finau is on fire!!

Tony goes back 2 back with Rocket Mortgage Classic.

1st back 2 back winner this year on the PGA Tour

Winning decisively with a closing round 67 to secure a 5 shot win.

T it up:

Three of the top-4 finishers at the Rocket Mortgage had a NEW Vokey Design WedgeWorks 60T wedge in the bag, including the winner and Titleist Brand Ambassadors Patrick Cantlay and Cameron Young, who tied for second.

Tony Finau Stats

Tony Finau (Pro V1 Left Dot) made it back-to-back wins on the PGA TOUR, closing with a 5-under 67 to reach 26 under and complete a near-flawless performance at Detroit Golf Club.

  • Now a four-time PGA TOUR winner, Finau got his Pro V1 Left Dot up-and-down 100 percent of the time while making only one bogey over 72 holes, leading the field in Scrambling and Bogey Avoidance.

  • He also topped the field in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (+13.841) and Greens in Regulation (66 of 72, 91.67%).

  • Only two players have hit more GIRs in a 72-hole PGA TOUR event since 1980.

  • The victory caps off a dominant run, as Finau became the first player to win back-to-back weeks on TOUR by three or more shots since Titleist Brand Ambassador Justin Thomas in 2017 and is now 49 under in his last nine rounds.

LIV News:

Stenson wins in his LIV Tour debut at Trump Bedminster.

We went through a lot of clubs, he really liked the window, how consistently the ball was flying – and the numbers were right in line. The softer feel was also a big plus for him.”

GLOVER 1-FOR-1 WITH 2021 PRO V1

Glover made the switch to 2021 Pro V1 this wee. Glover, who had been playing Pro V1x Left Dash since July 2019, tested both 2021 Pro V1 and Pro V1x models on Monday. Preferred the spin of the Pro V1 and put it in play.

CHAMPION PLAYS SCOTTY CAMERON SELECT SQUAREBACK 2

Over the last two weeks, the John Deere Classic champion worked with Scotty Cameron Tour Rep Drew Page to dial in his Select Squareback 2 for an armlock putting stroke.

“We took the same putter he had been using, built it for the armlock and added loft,” Page said. “He had a good week with it in Detroit but came to me this week looking to add a little more loft and move to a smaller grip for more feel. We watched video of it rolling and it was perfect.”

Other notable equipment news

Justin Thomas put a Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5 tour prototype putter in play for the first time at the Scottish Open.

JT’s new putter, which came about during a recent trip to the Scotty Cameron Putter Studio, combines the new Phantom X 5 head (offering a similar head shape to his previous Futura X5.5 model) with a prototype knuckle neck (similar to a Newport 2).

“JT’s had incredible success the last five years with his Futura X5.5 gamer, but had been thinking lately about experimenting with a slightly different look,” said Scotty Cameron Tour Rep Drew Page. “We took the Phantom X 5 head shape he loves and gave it a Newport 2-style neck which he’s also used in the past. He tested it at a few different neck lengths and was able to find a setup that was giving him a more consistent stroke pattern with that little bit different visual and the same feel that he’s used to.”

TITLEIST SWEEPS MAJOR EQUIPMENT COUNTS

For the second time in two weeks, fourth time in seven weeks, and fifth time this year, Titleist was the top choice of players in golf balls, drivers, fairways (T1), hybrids, utility irons, irons, wedges and putters. It marked the 23rd time since the start of the 2019 calendar year that Titleist has topped every major equipment category at a PGA TOUR event, a feat that has never been matched by another brand.
