Welcome to Church!
This is the eighth and final part of our series 'But Why?' and Ian Upward looks at another big question, 'Who is the Holy Spirit and how can I be filled?'
The Christian message is good news, not good advice: simple enough to sketch out on a post-it note and powerful enough to change the world.
During this series “Wait But Why”, we will be understanding the biblical gospel as a story of everything, which deals with life’s biggest questions and shows us the true character of the God we need to know.
This series will help us to respond to the personal challenge which the good news brings, and to communicate this message simply and clearly to other people, as it seeks to explain the why questions of we all ask when coming in to contact with the Christian faith.

Series written by Rev Allie Moore, Senior Minister at Sompting Community Church (SCC), inspired by Max Lucado
What Can We Do To Feed Our Faith?
Max Lucado recently was quoted saying
“I think this a time where we need to be feeding our faith,” he continued. “If you feed your faith, your fears will starve. If you feed your fears, your faith will starve. Our tendency is to feed our fears. We have to do intentional things to feed our faith.”
If you feed your faith, your fears will starve. If you feed your fears, your faith will starve.
So, how do we feed our faith? We manage our thoughts, we allow ourselves a freak out moment, but we don’t stay freaking out, we remember our faith and we trust that what was true in the light is still true in the dark.
Welcome to Church!
This is the third our series, 'Encounters With Jesus'. Graham Jefferson takes us through one of the most famous encounters with Jesus, Zack the Tax.
When people meet Jesus, exciting things happen. Whatever their backgrounds and circumstances, military officer, widow, religious leader or prostitute, each person is known, challenged and (sometimes) transformed. In this series, we'll look closely at some of the lives of the people who encountered Jesus and the way in which this impacted and changed their lives.

Rev Allie Moore, Senior Minister of Sompting Community Church (SCC) takes us through the fourth and final part of the four-part series - CALM.
If you need some peace in your life right now, you are in the right place. In these four sessions, we are going to walk together through the Anxious for Nothing study by Max Lucado, a study of Philippians 4:4-8, one of the most underlined verses in the Bible. Whatever challenges you are facing, this much is sure: with God as our Guide, we will get through any situation together. We will discover a peace that "transcends all understanding" and learn to re-frame the way we look at our fears.
This week, Ian Upward, Assistant Minister of Sompting Community Church brings us the fourth in this series.
Jesus often said, “You have heard how it was said, but I tell you.....”
He invited his listeners to break away from well-worn ways of thinking to see something new.
The series will give us fresh eyes and a fresh understanding of what Jesus was teaching when he used the parables to teach people.

Where do we find our hope and strength when the realities of life devastate and depress us?
Life doesn’t always turn out like we expect it to, a conversation with your boss, the decision of a loved one or child, a diagnosis, a car accident. Almost every day an unexpected event or unforeseen circumstance arises to remind us how shaky the world is. Hope is often in short supply and it is in these times that we have to decide what we will place our hope in. With the recent and tragic rise of suicide rates, it’s clear that more than ever, people are desperate for an unshakable place to build their lives.
Where do we find our hope and strength when the realities of life devastate and depress us?
In a year where I lost my cousin, my husband lost his granddad, a school friend committed suicide, another suffered a miscarriage, I found myself feeling hopeless.
Only through the promises of God, restoring my faith, and stirring my hope, did I survive this season of loss.
Hope stirring is a series that will show us that we can build our lives on the firm foundations of Gods promises, the only lasting sources of hope. Once you believe in these promises, not only do you have hope, your life is forever changed. Hope stirring will draw you closer to the God who promises to richly provide for all your needs, and will give you scripture base truths to hold you through every season of your life.
