Danielle from Auburn has asked for help with her boyfriend Cameron after what she says was a disastrous Thanksgiving dinner with his family. She says after dinner, in the kitchen, as they were cleaning up the Turkey, Cameron’s father actually grabbed her butt and said “I wanna get up in those giblets.” She says, yes, the Turkey was right there, but it was clear the dad was talking about HER giblets, not the Turkey’s. No one else saw this, and she says when she told Cameron later he said she was over-reacting. When Cameron comes on he says his dad is just a butt-grabber, like baseball players, and he does it to everyone in the family, it’s no big deal. But Danielle feels very clear about that the dad wanted from her, and Cameron digs himself in a hole when he says the dad has no reason to hit on Danielle because the dad’s new wife – Cameron’s stepmom – is “hot”. Is Cameron fixing to be Dad 2.0? Should Danielle work it out or tell him to get stuffed?

Holly from Everett has asked us for help with her boyfriend Craig who she says has been lying to her for two months. She found out he lost his job two months ago but hasn’t told her yet; he just continues to leave the house every day and go somewhere and pretend everything’s fine. Holly says she found out when she ran into one of his coworkers a couple weeks ago who told Holly that Craig had been fired. Holly says she has no idea where Craig goes all day or how they have been making ends meet but mostly she is just stunned that he would lie about something so big for so long. When Craig comes on he says he didn’t mean to lie, he was just embarrassed and thought if he could just get another job right away it would all be fine. But then so much time passed, it got too big for him to handle. He says he didn’t want Holly to see him as weak…but holy crap, she does and she unloads! Will these two be able to get it back together?

Faith from Marysville has asked us for help with her boyfriend Jake whose family does not include her in any holiday activities. Faith says despite being together for three years, his family still does not include her in the Christmas Gift Exchange and they don’t ask her to cook anything for their potluck Christmas Dinner meal. And she says they are very rude and awkward around her as if she is a one-night stand he just dragged home. She wants Jake to stand up for her to his family and let them know she is here to stay and they should treat her like family. When Jake comes on he says his parents are just really traditional, the Gift Matrix is pretty solid, and they don’t want to bother her with trying to make the kinds of foods they like. He does sort of admit that until they get engaged they probably won’t count her in, but the P1’s (and we) seem to think it may go a lot deeper than that.

Claire from Tacoma says her boyfriend AJ is freaking out over a butt-dial call from her ex-boyfriend. She says it was totally just an accident, the Ex left a message saying so, and she thought it was funny and actually showed it to AJ not realizing he would totally obsess over it. Now AJ brings the Ex up all the time and is suspicious of all Claire’s plans and calls, asking her a lot more questions about where she’s going and what she’s doing. When Fitz says sometimes guys just want to “check in” and AJ is right to be nervous, Claire insists she loves AJ and has no interest in the Ex but admits AJ is being a total jerk and she’s not happy with him at the moment. When AJ comes on he says he’s not insecure, he just knows how guys think and thinks the Ex was totally testing the waters and Fitz agrees. Kate from Federal Way has asked for help with her boyfriend Josh who she says is turning their yard into a trashy junk yard. Josh has been buying cars with the intention of fixing them up and selling them, but Kate says he lacks the skills to do it, as well as the money needed to fix them up. At first Kate was supportive of Josh having this hobby and his vision of investment but now all he does is buy junky cars and leave them and their parts lying around and now the yard and garage make them look like, in her words, the “white trash house of the neighborhood” and she’s embarrassed to even have people over. Plus Kate is really stressed-out about how much money he is spending on all this. When Josh comes on he says this is an investment and she needs to be patient and in fact this is his plan for the future and how to send their kids through college. When he lists the cars he has, even Drew is impressed but Drew cautions Josh that if he doesn’t start working on them soon they will lose value. Josh says Kate needs to have more faith in him, but Kate says Josh needs to face reality. Can the P1’s help them? Can they work this out? And will Drew buy a few of these cars off Josh?

When Kelly comes on she says it’s been a crap year so she is going the extra mile to buy a little happiness for their family and friends. She says she’s getting great deals and also has a very specific plan for what she is getting for whom, as well as a plan for how to pay for it all. Tony from Lacey has asked us for help with his fiancée Whitney who he says sold her engagement ring to pay some bills. He says he can’t believe she would just casually sell off something so important that he saved so long to get for her. When we ask him to clarify if she sold it or pawned it he doesn’t seem to know the difference but also says it doesn’t matter – she should have talked to him first. When Whitney comes on she says she did try to talk to him but he refuses to ever have hard conversations around money. She says money is incredibly tight and she pawned the ring to literally pay the rent, and she says she will absolutely get it back. Also she points out they have never actually set a date for the wedding even though they got engaged long before the pandemic and she might be more concerned about needing to wear the ring if the wedding was looming. But Whitney is mostly frustrated that Tony wouldn’t talk to her but called a radio station about it. The P1’s think these two can work it out. Well, except this one guy who’s a little obsessed with butt implants.

Erin from Kent has asked us for help with her boyfriend Keith who she says wants her to cook a massive Thanksgiving Dinner for about 20 of their friends when she would rather go see her family. She says she hasn’t seen her family in Portland since Covid started and it’s important to her to spend time with them. Plus, she says his friends have not been particularly responsible; in fact she calls them “a bunch of Covid-infested monsters” who have been out partying a lot and she doesn’t want them crammed into their home. When Keith comes on he says he says his friends are not unsafe – only two of them got Covid and that was a long time ago – and he thinks it’s important to be there for people who can’t go see their families. He admits she’s the cook and yes maybe he “volunteered” her without telling her, but he’d just assumed she wouldn’t go to her parents because that would be too dangerous for them. The P1’s are pretty divided over whether they should Make Up or Break Up but everyone agrees Keith could benefit from better communication skills and a little Door Dash.

Marcus in Edmonds is upset that his girlfriend Kaylie is making extra money by selling her socks online. He thinks it’s dangerous and creepy and also seems concerned it will escalate into other activities like an “Only Fans” page or showing more identifiable body parts. When Kaylie comes on she says it’s really an amazing amount money, socks are less creepy than underwear, and it’s completely safe and anonymous. When Marcus asks what happens when someone offers a gazillion dollars for more, she says he needs to trust her that it’s only socks and nothing more and the socks alone are plenty good money to need any more. And she points out she’s been making his car payments for several months and can’t believe this is the first time he’s asked where the money is coming from; if she quits now, what happens to his car? Several P1’s call and text to help this couple out, although most of the women seem to want to know how to get in on this great gig!

Renee from Renton has been getting excited to go Trick-or-Treating with her son this week, but as the day gets closer, her fiancée Jonathan is getting nervous about it, afraid they are all going to catch COVID. Renee says she is taking a lot of precautions, and they will limit the number places they go, but it’s been such a tough year for the kids she wants them to have just one really special day. When Jonathan comes on, he says there are too many unknowns about how other people are taking precautions and he doesn’t understand why they can’t just make some fun inside the house. In the end though, he says he’s not gonna stop her, but if she goes out, he is going to self-quarantine at a hotel for two weeks. The P1’s wanna know: Where’s the Trust?

This may be one of the most controversial MUBU’s was have ever done. Nick from Olympia is upset that his fiancée Stacy suddenly says she isn’t going to take his last name when they get married. He says she hadn’t ever mentioned it before but as the date gets closer she suddenly decided that it’s too much work and not necessary. Nick says he’s traditional and the name-change should be a given in a marriage, plus he wonders why she would wait so long and blind-side him with it. When we ask him his last name, he says it’s Gracie, which would make her Stacey Gracie, and we wonder if maybe that’s part of the problem. When Stacy comes on, she says, yeah, the rhyme is a little weird, but it’s more about all the work that goes into having to change all the legal documents, plus she just doesn’t see why it’s a big deal – she likes her family name and wants to keep. And she did offer to hyphenate last names, but really feels like its old fashioned for women to be expected to totally change their names. The P1’s go off! Some feel its tradition and taking his name is part of the commitment; others think she’s having second thoughts altogether and isn’t’ really into marriage and others think Nick is way too old fashioned. But we really need to call our Therapist in Renton for Fitz and Claire!

When Henry comes on he says he really didn’t want to go to the reunion and really was out hunting but his hunting buddies thought it would be fun to crash the reunion party and as their trip took them closer and closer to the reunion site, they went to it and he ended up in a bunch of pictures. Henry says it’s not a big deal and Bonnie is blowing it out proportion. Christine from Bothell has asked for our help with her husband Steve. She says they were getting a little flabby due to quarantine so she got them a couples' gym membership that included personal training. But now she's worried that Steve is getting way to close to his trainer. Christine says the trailer, Melissa, is a super cute girl with a really tight "Brazilian work out" butt, and the only reason Steve is going to the gym is to flirt with the girl and look at her butt, and Christine would be more comfortable if Steve chose a different trainer. When Steve comes on he says Christine is being ridiculous. He says he and "Melly", did hit it off but that's really helped him improve his workout and he feels better about himself than he has in years. He says Christine has no reason to be jealous of their relationship, although he can see why she's be jealous of Melly's butt. It's not like we don't all see both sides, but the conversation sure turns when we suggest Christine goes and gets a hot male trainer.

Lisa from Bremerton is really unhappy that her husband Eli went absolutely nuts on the decorations for Halloween. She says he spent money they don’t have and should be saving with every out-of-sorts due to Covid. But when Eli comes on he says Covid is exactly why he is pulling out all the stops this year, because he wants the kids to have just one good, normal thing this year. Eli says Halloween is an important time for kids to be creative and have fun and says the kids would probably be fine with fewer Christmas presents if they can have a super cool Halloween. But Eli also says this whole thing isn’t about money at all, it’s about how Lisa hates Halloween because of her religious upbringing. Lisa doesn’t dispute this – she thinks it’s a Satanic holiday and the whole thing should be scrapped and Eli is really pushing the issue by making it even bigger than it needs to be. Can this relationship be save? Wait until you hear the advice from a P1 from Issaquah who shares her experiences of being possessed.

He says he understands that no one else is seeing it at the beach or anything, but he is seeing it and Gina should consider him important enough to keep up her appearance for him. When Gina comes on, she is surprisingly calm but clearly pissed off that Robert is making such a big deal about this. She says she keeps clean and shaves pretty often but she's not gonna do it every single day. He says it was like a gut punch after all these years and he is not sure how to get past it, or whether he even wants to. When Katie comes on she says Luke is blowing this way out of proportion. He says the conversation was different than what he heard, and yeah she may have misspoken and used the word "settled" while consoling her friend, but she loves Luke and she wouldn't still be with him after all these years if she didn't. Vanessa says this girl is not just all over his social media all the time bringing up "the old days" but sometimes shows up to parties they go to, or even restaurants, and sometimes it's Carl that has invited her and she feels like it's a "Throuple". When Carl comes on he says, yeah, he and Shelby are still close, but they've been friends since their days as Drum Majors at UW, which is a really tight community, and they still have a lot of friends in common. He says they are not like "real" exes because they are better as pals than they ever were as boyfriend-girlfriend, and he doesn't think its fair he should have to stop being friends - he loves Vanessa and she needs to just stop worrying. The P1's debate this one pretty hard - can you really ever just stay "friends" with your ex? Or is Vanessa overreacting? And is the real problem that Carl is a Husky and not a Coug?

And Jenn says Brandon has their daughter doing inappropriate thing like Twerking. But when Brandon comes on he says TikTok fulfills two really important functions: he is actually spending quality fun time with their 13-year-old doing something they both enjoy - which is hard to find with preteens - and he says TikTok is helping to keep him relevant on Social Media for his business. The P1’s are pretty divided along pro-TikTok-anti-TikTok lines, but we all seem to agree that Brandon may want to rethink the way he his promoting his business.

This one’s a doozy: Claudia from Buckley has asked Fitz for help with her husband Stuart who she says has hired a way-too-hot tutor for their kids. She says with everything going on with quarantine and working from home, she put Stuart in charge of finding a tutor for their kids to help them keep up with home schooling and distance learning. According to Claudia, Stuart looked on social media and found a hot 22-year-old with big boobs to just be eye candy. But when Stuart comes on, he says he interviewed 8 different potential tutors, and this one – Megan – has as good of qualifications as any of them, but also has the skills of younger people with making and posting videos, troubleshooting Zoom, and other things he says an “old school marm” can’t do. Claudia is skeptical that he couldn’t find someone the same age but less attractive. And then…she brings up some former babysitter she eludes was an “issue” with Stuart. We never get the full story on that babysitter, but the P1’s agree that whether or not Stuart cheated or Claudia is just paranoid, these two have a bigger problem than home schooling. And wait ‘til you hear the perspective of a P1 named “The Hot Nanny”.

He says he is thinking long-term about it being the safest vehicle to carry their future children, as well as it’s usefulness for camping trips and such. When we question him about the lying, he is a bit evasive, but he does make a compelling argument about the truck’s long-term value versus the cost or rentals. But when the talk turns to the cost and value of an engagement ring, the wheels come off.

Hannah from Tacoma has asked Fitz for help with her boyfriend Robert who she says is always pointing out the way she smells. He says it’s not body odor so much as just a specific smell she has. She doesn’t smell it and neither do any of her friends and after about 4 months of extra showering and trying several perfumes and body scents, Robert admitted he made it up on the advice of his father who told him it was a technique for keeping women a little insecure so they stay around. When Robert comes on, he says he never said she stank, he just noted her personal odor, and he says he dad always taught him it’s important to keep women from becoming complacent in the relationship, and to remind her that she isn’t any better than him cuz, after all, he says stuff about him too, right? And Robert says it’s worked with other girlfriends – but has it, Robert? Really? There is at least P1 who thinks Robert has the right idea but the overwhelming majority think its Robert who stinks.

Miley from Enumclaw has asked us for help with her man Joey who she thinks needs a fashion intervention. She says Joey has been tearing the sleeves off all his shirts to make home-made tank tops, which generally is a nice “country” look”, but she doesn’t think Joey has the arms to pull it off and is embarrassing himself. When Joey comes on he says the idea he is doing it for fashion is stupid, it’s just hot out and he likes to enjoy the summer weather and cool off a bit with short sleeves. But he does say he’s worried that if she is more concerned with how he looks than how he feels, then maybe he she doesn’t love him as much as he loves her. The P1’s have a lot to say to Miley about self-image and unconditional love, but we all agree that cut-off sleeves and Jorts are what make America great!

Eddie from Sumner has written in to us for help with his girlfriend Diane who he says has been waking up in the middle of the night saying other guys’ names. He says she didn’t do it when they first got together so he’s concerned that she’s dreaming about other guys, and if she’s dreaming about them, well then, what else is happening with them? And he’s pretty sure she is dreaming about someone he doesn’t know because he doesn’t recognize the names, like other friends or TV characters. When Diane comes on, she says Eddie is being completely ridiculous; she is not cheating and can’t be judged on what she dreams. The P1’s agree that it’s weird that Diane says other dudes’ names while sleeping, but they don’t think that’s anything to act on. But as for this whole relationship? They may both be dreaming if they think it’s gonna work.

Tiffany from Bellevue has asked us for help with her boyfriend Ken, although more specifically the problem is with Ken’s son with his ex-wife. She says the little boy is really acting out against her over Ken’s divorce. She says at first the son was just rude to her, but now he is verbally abusive and sometimes violent. She feels bad for the little boy because she knows he is frustrated over his parents’ divorce but it has escalated to where she doesn’t feel safe around him and she needs Ken to address it with the boy, and probably the boy’s mom who Tiffany suspects is fueling the boy’s anger. When Ken comes on, he acknowledges the boy’s behavior is bad and says he has talked to him and will do it again. But Ken also says Tiffany is not totally blameless because she fuels some of the fight back to the mom. We get a TON of calls on this one as a lot the P1’s feel bad for Ken but think he’s the one who needs to get a handle this. Although…little boy aside…Tiffany and Ken may have some other lurking issue.

Tom from Renton has asked for help with his girlfriend Sophia who he says is mad at him for doing something he thought was really nice. It seems Sophia owed a bunch of money to her ex-boyfriend and was paying it off in installments so Tom went ahead and paid it all off. Tom says he thinks the guy was just using the debt as an excuse to keep in contact with Sophia so he figured this was a good way to end that and he doesn’t understand why she’s so mad. When Sophia comes on she says this wasn’t Tom’s issue to deal with and he stepped over the line when he paid the debt without asking. And she disputes his theory that the ex was using it to hang on to her – it was her decision to pay it in installments because it was a business-related debt and she wanted a clean record of payment. Now she just feels like owes Tom a bunch of money and thinks maybe this is all about control. The P1’s are pretty divided as to whether the ex was really just keeping her hanging on and also whether these two should Make Up or Break Up, but everyone seems to agree Tom has some control issues.

Eve from Federal Way has asked us for help with her boyfriend Derek who she says is chronically late. She says she feels disrespected because he is especially late to things that are important to her, but is usually on time, or even early, for things that are important to him. Her examples include him being late picking up their children and to parties she throws, but being hours early for his Seahawks tailgates with his buddies. When Derek comes on he says Eve is just picking out isolated incidents and making a huge deal out of nothing. He says he knows about the tailgates because they are on a calendar but picking up kids is usually last minute and easy to forget. The P1’s are split – some think Derek is being disrespectful of Eve’s time, others think he is just unintentionally flaky and have suggestions for how he can get more organized. But we ALL agree that Fitz’s unusual brand of “Kiss Therapy” is one of the weirdest things we’ve ever heard.

Janine from Puyallup has called in for help with her fiancée Eddie. She says he is letting his beef with another neighborhood dad stand between her son and that dad’s son, who is his little best friend. She says Eddie doesn’t want the kid exposed to this jerk because he has said stuff about Janine and refuses to apologize. When Eddie comes on, he says Janine doesn’t understand how bad this other guy is, and the things he says about her body, especially her butt, and it’s all inappropriate language for a man to be using in front of kids so he doesn’t want his son over there hearing that. Janine says Eddie is too jealous and sensitive about what men think about her bootie, and he needs to rise above his insecurities to meet the needs of his son who needs his best friend. This one gets us - and the P1’s - ALL riled up over a myriad of issues, but in the end, is it a Make Up or Break Up?!

Ben from Auburn has asked us for help with his girlfriend Angela who he says wants to start an “Only Fans” account in which she would livestream herself showing and doing…things...for money. He says she needs money since she lost her job during the Pandemic, and thinks it will be an easy way to make a lot of it. Ben is not down with this, even though she says she won’t show her face, so no one will know she is, because he feels it’s the same as if she were actually with other guys. When Angela comes on, she says Ben is over-reacting. She says it’s totally safe, she has several friends doing it making a ton of money, and since she has no distinguishing birthmarks or tattoos no one will ever know it’s her. But can she keep up those limits? And does that matter – it’s her body, can’t she do what she wants with it? Is Ben just being insecure? Should they Make Up or Break Up? And what exactly did Claire just admit to?

Damon from Bremerton has called for help with his girlfriend Angela who he says is a total Daddy’s Girl. He says she is way too dependent on her father for his opinions about everything in their lives, including their vacations. He says before COVID even hit they had to cancel a “once in a lifetime” trip to Africa because her dad didn’t like the idea. And pretty much every vacation they have ever taken was because her dad strongly suggested it like skiing in Vail and Whistler. Then Damon admits Angela’s dad has actually been paying for these trips, and we start to wonder how Damon thinks he is going to get her to stop being less dependent then they are both still taking Daddy’s money. When Angela comes on, she says her parents are very important to her and she really does value her dad’s opinion. And she thinks Damon is just jealous of her relationship with her dad because he never really had one with his own father. And the P1’s weigh in on this: in this day and age, do you still have to ask a father for permission to propose to a woman?

Tom from Lynwood has written for help with his girlfriend Tiffany. He’s upset because before COVID hit they planned to take a summer vacation together. But after 3 months of quarantine, Tiffany says when they are allowed to travel she is going on a girls’ trip with her friends instead. Tom thinks that ain’t right – she should want to spend their first time “out in the world” together and he is really hurt that she doesn’t want to. When Tiffany comes on she emphasizes how much she loves him but that they have really, really, really been in each other’s pockets all this time and she is honestly a little tired of seeing him every day. She says it’s healthier for couples to spend a little time apart and wants him to go take a trip with his boys. Some of the P1’s agree with Tiffany and think Tom is too clingy (and can’t wait to get away from their own spouses!) but others think she and her girl’s may have something - or someone - a little “extra” planned!

Kayla from Olympia has asked for help with her husband Joe who she says is feeding their son too much junk food. She says Joe uses fast food and ice cream as rewards and fun “Dad/Son Time” and the boy is getting really heavy. She says in the past few months he has gained about 20 pounds and she’s worried that when school starts up again he is going to be teased, but also she fears for his long-term health. And to make matters worse, Joe is encouraging the boy’s video game playing and not any kind of sports or outdoor exercise. When Joe comes on, he says Kayla is overreacting, that every kid in the neighborhood has gained weight during Quarantine, and this spring and summer have been so hard with all their sports and activities, cancelled that the boy needs some pick-me-ups to feel better and have some fun. Joe is also upset that she’s fat-shaming their son although she insists she has never said anything to the son about his weight, only to Joe. And then suddenly we get a view of what Kayla thinks of Joe’s weight and what Joe thinks of Kayla’s helicopter parenting

Maureen from Mill Creek has asked us for help with her boyfriend Kevin. She thinks Kevin’s female boss is after him, because she calls him a lot, sometimes late at night, and has nicknames for him, including “handsome”. And to add to Maureen’s suspicions, sometimes Kevin goes into a different room to talk to the Boss Lady. When Kevin comes on, he says the boss doesn’t call nearly as often as Maureen says, but admits she does call a lot because it is the nature of their business, which he says moves very fast. Kevin says he calls all the workers a lot, but his view is that she especially calls him a lot because he is a valued employee. And he says she calls all the men “handsome.” This sparks a big debate about male vs female bosses as well as whether flirting is an appropriate way to get a raise, but what about the main question: can they Make Up or should they Break Up?

Alexa from Shelton has asked Fitz for help with her boyfriend Ryan. Before COVID, they had been planning a big vacation for the summer which had to be cancelled. Fortunately they were able to get back the several thousands of dollars they had already paid for it. Unfortunately, at least according to Alexa, Ryan used most of it to jack up his truck. She says he has always loved his truck and put a lot of his own money into it, but this time she feels it was their joint money that went into something that is only for him to enjoy. When Ryan comes on he says Alexa is missing the big picture on how he did this for both of them: he says since COVID he no longer wants the kind of vacation where you fly somewhere and stay in hotels; now he would rather go off-roading and camping and that’s why he needed to outfit the truck not just with better suspension but with better gear inside and out. But is the truck really the issue? Because the P1’s seem to think it’s more about who controls the money.

Roger from Spanaway has asked for help with his girlfriend Melissa who he says has formed an unusually close relationship with his mother. He says at first he was glad they hit at off but now they are practically BFF’s. Roger feels weird that his mom is the one telling Melissa about his exes and important moments of his life instead of him which. And they hang out so much that Roger feels like he basically has to fight with his mom for Melissa’s time. When Melissa comes on she says she has no idea what the problem is and wouldn’t it be worse if they hated each other? She thought he would love that they hit it off so well and it’s been a great bonus for her personally because Diane, Roger’s mom, is a great person and they share a lot of similar interests. And then Diane calls in to the show! First of all she is a P1 and is pretty excited that her “baby boy” is on the radio. She confirms she and Melissa are clearly BFF’s and calls her the “daughter I never had”. She admits she never liked any of his other girlfriends before but thinks Melissa “a keeper” and thinks he should propose

Amber from Edmonds is asking for our help with her boyfriend Kevin. She says Kevin has been reaching out to his ex-girlfriend, and the ex-girlfriend has been over-reaching back, so much that Amber thinks she is trying to get him back. She says she knows the original contact had something to do with getting some family pictures, which she understands, but that could have been done in one conversation and an email, not multiple conversations and not needing late night private phone calls. When Kevin comes on, he says his grandfather recently passed away and his family is putting together an online memorial, and his ex has a lot of really great pictures. When Fitz questions why that would require more than one phone call, he says the woman keeps finding more pictures so she calls to ask if he wants them and they end up talking about good times. When Amber asks why this needs late-night phone calls, Kevin says she is a busy woman and that’s when she has time, and since she is doing him a favor he doesn’t want to be rude. But the P1’s are absolutely not buying what Kevin is selling.

Nicole says the girl is so upset that she has only applied to colleges in Florida, which the girl says is the farthest away she can get from her father, something she never even considered before this year. When Josh comes on, he says he is merely trying to protect their daughter from what he knows are the true intentions of teenage boys. He says he is sure to stay back far enough when they are out so they have privacy but he wants to be available in case of trouble. As far as the social media, Josh says it’s a different world now and thinks Nicole is naïve to not read everything the kids are saying and doing.

Reese from Federal Way has asked for help with her roommate Jeffrey. They are just friends, nothing romantic, and have always made great roommates, but quarantine may have brought an end to all that. Reese says ever since we were all ordered to stay at home, Jeffrey has been bringing more women home, than ever before, from Tinder, Bumble and Hinge. And if it’s not enough that the women are in the apartment, they are leaving their undies all over the place, including her bathroom, and Reese says doesn’t want anyone’s “fluids” anywhere near her or her stuff. When Jeffrey comes on he says he “screens” the women to make sure they aren’t symptomatic, and says he’s sure everyone is telling the truth because no one wants to get sick. But Jeffrey says he thinks the real problem Reese is having is that she is in love with him and is just jealous that he’s seeing other women.

This one is pretty perplexing. Danielle from Puyallup has called to ask Fitz for help with her boyfriend Luke. She says they are both P1’s of the show, listening to Fitz for many years, but she is perturbed because lately Luke will change the station. And she has figured out why: he doesn’t like certain songs. When we drill down to diagnose the problem with Danielle, we figure out the songs are what we call “Boyfriend Country” – simply put, Luke hates Dan+Shay and all the other nice guys who sing nice songs about their nice girls. When Luke comes on, he admits it: he doesn’t like a lot of the newest songs because they are too “wimpy” and they also don’t have enough banjo, fiddle, or pedal steel. Fitz defends Country Music in all its forms, and tells Luke he needs to keep up with the times. But that’s all beside the point for Danielle who says the true measure of a P1 is that once you set that present, you never, ever take it off.

And she says Ben doesn’t really know anything at all about investing or about tech and is just relying on the advice of the friend who wants the money. When Ben comes on he says he is really bummed that Janna doesn’t believe in him a little more. He says while he knows there is no such thing as a “sure thing”, his friend’s start-up is actually really great and he feels that by getting in on the ground floor, he and Janna will make a fortune. And he says now is a perfect time to invest because hedge funds have the time to take a good look at start-ups. Complicating the conversation is that Ben can’t tell any of us what this thing even is that his friend has invented and wants them to give him their life savings for.

Anna says she feels like a prisoner in her own home and can’t get through to him how invasive this is. When Mike comes on he says times are crazy with people stealing stuff and it is all to protect Anna. For his part, he doesn’t understand why she feels threatened rather than secure. And Ryan says she is buying a bunch of frivolous stuff they don’t need like shoes and a wine club membership. When Donna comes on, she says she’s not buying anything they won’t eventually use or need and the sales are so incredible right now she is actually going to end up saving them money in the long run. Andrew says no way – they need her income, and the whole “arts and crafts” thing is a boondoggle; he even goes so far as to say Etsy is a Cult. When Renee comes on, she says she never realized just how incredibly stressed she was in her job until she had a break from it. To make matters worse, Allison is the only bread winner right now, and she is legit afraid his behavior will affect her job. When Brent comes on he admits he is kind of acting like a slacker because he is enjoying being off work for the first time in ages and sometimes he just loses track of time and totally forgets she is actually working. He also wishes she would get her work done faster so she can spend more time slacking around with him. When the P1’s weigh in, we learn a lot about…well, how to play “Doom.”

Sarah from Olympia has written to Fitz for help with her boyfriend Jeff who she says absolutely will not argue. While it sounds like the kind of problem most people would like to have, she says she can tell when he is unhappy about a decision or situation but rather than discussing it she says he just says “whatever” and stews for a while. She knows that’s not healthy for either of them. She says - and we agree – that the occasional argument is good for a relationship so Fitz thinks it could be a sign that Jeff has lost interest in the relationship, maybe even to the point of looking at other women. Fitz always says that, right? But when Claire agrees, Sarah starts to panic. When Jeff comes on, he says we all need to calm down, especially Sarah. He says the problem is she wants to argue about every little thing, and enjoys getting into major blow-ups over nothing and he’s just not into fighting for the sake of fighting. This one really lights up the P1’s who agree if they don’t fix this now it could escalate into a major problem.

He says she is not only super aggressive, but she actually cheats at cards, board, games and video games. And he says Wendy is even cheating at Netflix, getting ahead of him on shows they are supposed to be watching together while he is asleep. When Wendy comes on, she says he is being way too sensitive – she grew up with older brothers and learned early that if you aren’t aggressive and don’t find ways “around the rules” you are never gonna win. Plus, she says, Adam just isn’t very good at games, and it’s actually not even fun to play video games because he doesn’t even try. While the P1’s mostly think this is just a big case of “cabin fever” and they probably shouldn’t break up, we do hear creative ways of saying Adam should “grow a set”.

Nicole from Graham has written to Fitz for help with her boyfriend Scott who she says has gone way overboard home-schooling their son. She says their son is 7, in second grade, but Scott treats him more like a teenager with discipline and a strict schedule. Nicole agrees with keeping what would be his regular school schedule and learning, but she says Scott is going well beyond that, not just locking up his toys until 3pm every day, but also introducing curriculum that’s beyond what their son would normally be doing. When Scott comes on, he says kids crave structure and if their son is going to get ahead, let alone keep up, he needs to keep the schedule consistent, and since he wouldn’t be normally home until 3pm to play with his toys anyway, it is only logical that the toys would be off-limits. As for the curriculum, Scott thinks his son’s teachers are not keeping up with the times and he has found better courses online. By the time these two are done talking, it’s the most divided the P1’s have ever been!

She feels like he might even be borderline OCD. He absolutely refuses to leave the house so she has to do all the errands which she doesn’t mind but he makes her shower multiple times when she returns home and now he won’t even go near her. She is afraid he will turn a corner he cannot come back from. When Daniel comes on, he says if everyone was as cautious as he is, we wouldn’t all be in this predicament. As for the excessive washing, he says because the science of COVID-19 is so new and unknown, just because he doesn’t go out doesn’t mean the virus is not in the house. And while Daniel does speak reasonably, we can all hear there is something much deeper happening.

He admits it’s probably cabin fever, but he can’t get through to her how dangerous it is for her and her family given all the truck stops and gas stations and fast food places she will have to hit on the way. When Kathy comes on, she is really irritated that Paul is not understanding how the quarantine is affecting her mental health and that what she is planning is well thought out and will be carefully done. But now that Brie is home, Maggie can see perfectly well that Brie has plenty of time to clean up and is just a lazy slob, spilling and splashing food and not cleaning it up. And then there’s the shower drain hair. When Brie comes on, she says Maggie is plenty slobby on her own, and is only complaining out Brie’s stuff. Plus she says he is watching a lot of “work out” videos and it’s creeping her out. When Mark comes on, he says he is feeling isolated and bored and craving human interaction so he got on social media to connect with his family and now, yes, he is really into it. The Stay-at-Home order has unfortunately increased your requests to be on Make Up or Break Up! When Ed comes on he says this is an actual doomsday, and no one knows how long it will last, and he thinks it’s perfectly reasonable to stock up, thinking it’s better to have too much than not enough. As far as helping the next-door neighbor, he doesn’t want to become the “outpost” for a bunch of people who didn’t prepare. He says at the beginning of their relationship he thought it was kinda cute and flirty but now she does it all the time and he is uncomfortable and embarrassed. He claims she calls him “Benny-Wenny” and sometimes even does that in front of his friends. And now that they are both in the house all time, it’s really making him crazy. When Alicia comes on, it turns out she actually just has a naturally baby-ish voice so it’s not like she’s doing it on purpose. We all think Ben is way over-reacting until Alicia starts to get a little upset and suddenly someone’s got an owie! Do the P1’s think she is doing it on purpose, or is there something a little…different…going on?

Adam from Arlington is upset that his girlfriend Liz is being pretty cavalier about Coronavirus. He says while he admits he may be an overly cautious person, she is carrying on as if life were normal, going out and seeing friends and sometimes in rather crowded places. He says they both have big families in town they could pass it to, and he is concerned that she seems to be treating this pandemic like it’s no big deal. When Liz joins us she says Adam is a hypochondriac and is buying too much into the negative hype and refuses to let Coronavirus defeat her. She says she knows it is a global problem and is absolutely taking it seriously and being very careful wherever she goes but she is not going to stop living her life. She says if they can do everything in the world to protect themselves and still get it, then why just hide at home and sulk? As things start to get heated she says she also thinks Adam is just using all of this as an excuse to just stay home and play video games. Will these two need their own “Social Distancing”?

Cassie from Tacoma is disgusted by her boyfriend Mark’s refusal to tip servers. She says she loves everything else about him, and he is not at all a cheap person, but he draws a really hard line on this for some kind of philosophical reason. She says she is embarrassed when they go out and even tries to sneak tips when he is not looking. When Mark comes on, he says tipping is a cultural problem; that the customers are not the boss of the servers and he shouldn’t be expected to pay their wages. He thinks if everyone took this stance it would eventually help to raise wages for servers. This ignites the P1’s on the phones with several people chiming in on both sides of the tipping debate and going into great detail on how much servers make and don’t make. It gets very passionate – so much so that we forget we are supposed to be helping Cassie and Mark with their relationship drama.

Today we check in with Brad and Anna from Gig Harbor. Brad had called for help in early February saying Anna was oversharing details about their life together on social media. He says at first it was just pictures and a “play-by-play” of their activities but when he started getting messages from his friends about their private issues he discovered Anna was posting about their troubles and fights, and asking everyone for advice and support. When Anna comes on she says she is using the social media as a journal of their lives they can look back on when they are old. She also admits she likes the validation of hearing what her friends have to say as well as relying on their advice and isn’t sure why Brad is so against that. Things got testy but they actually agreed to go see our recommended therapist in Renton. Today we find out how that went; is it a good sign they are calling together…?

Today we talk to Stephanie and Jeff from Des Moines. Stephanie is struggling because her mom is getting older and may need more help around the house and she thinks it would be best for her mom to move in with her and Jeff, but Jeff seems dead set against it. Stephanie says her mom is a widow and the house she is in now – they one Stephanie grew up in – it just too big for her, plus Stephanie feels her mom needs to really watch her money at this stage in her life. Plus, Stephanie really feels she doesn’t have that much time left with her mom and wants to make the most of it. When Jeff joins us, though, we get a very different picture of Stephanie’s mom: turns out she is a lot younger and more vibrant than Stephanie has described, and Jeff is frankly freaked out that mom is gonna bring home dates from Bell Town bars.

Ally from Lacey wrote to Fitz for help on Facebook for help with her boyfriend Chase. It seems he forgot her birthday - like completely, totally, forgot. She says they have been together for several months and he could have easily known when it was, if he had paid any attention at all, including the fact that it’s on Facebook and she knows he is on there frequently. She says while she would have disappointed that there was no dinner or gift, she would have ultimately been OK if he had even just remembered at the last minute and said “I’m sorry I forgot but Happy Birthday” but he didn’t even do that. When Chase comes on, he is very upset. He says they have only been going out 5 months so he would have no way of knowing when he birthday its, he is in the middle of a custody battle, and he is having job troubles, and he is upset that she is being so petty. These two already seem kind of rocky, but the P1’s think it can be worked out, until Ally mentions…Kevin?

Back in January, we met Megan and Tim from Auburn. Megan had asked Fitz for help because she thought Tim was going to propose on Christmas and he didn’t, and then she thought maybe it was New Year’s, but that passed too. It turns out Tim had planned proposing New Year’s Eve but made the mistake of telling her friends who leaked it to her but told her Christmas, after which, with no ring, she became very cold and when New Year’s came around Tim didn’t feel like proposing. When they were with us on MUBU, Tim explained that it was really important to him that the proposal be perfect and be a memory they have forever – like something out of a movie – so he was waiting for the perfect moment and New Year’s Eve wasn’t it and now he has to wait for the next perfect moment, after he’s not mad anymore. Megan didn’t realize any of that and just couldn’t figure out why he was taking so long to propose and though maybe he changed his mind. Today we get them both back on the phone to talk about what happened after their call with us, and maybe revisit their Valentine’s Day?!?! Although at this point, Megan would probably take President’s Day too. Pick a day, any day, Tim!

Tania from Auburn has asked Fitz for help with her boyfriend Noah. She says he has gotten into the “comfort zone” with their relationship is no longer putting any effort into being romantic. She says he wants to just stay home and watch TV all the time while she wants him to want to get out and do something more. She says she has been getting offers from other guys and never took that seriously but lately has been thinking that maybe she is missing out. She has not told him about the other offers – she doesn’t want to threaten him – she just wants to know how to get him to put in more effort into making her feel special. When Noah comes on he admits they don’t go out a lot, but he works hard and comes home tired and just wants to chill. He says he will try a little harder and, OK, sure they can go out to eat sometimes, but as Fitz says there is a big gap between what Noah thinks is “effort” and what Tania thinks is “romance”. These two are really reasonable…until Fitz mentions the availability of our therapist and suddenly Noah gets cold feet.

Joanna from Bremerton wrote to Fitz for help with her boyfriend Dave. She says he sometimes hangs out with her group of friends without her while she is at work. And the weirdest thing was he didn’t tell her – she saw a post on Instagram of them hanging out, and then learned they were doing it a lot. And it’s not just coffee and beers and stuff, but also - and this is odd – going to the gym together. She says she’s not necessarily worried that he’s cheating or at that any of her friends are trying to get with him, although it has crossed her mind; and in any case she just finds it unsettling and honestly wants our opinion on if she’s overreacting, because Dave thinks she is. He says he just likes her friends, and at first was just trying to be nice to them but just genuinely liked them so started accepting their invitations. And while he admits he is a “naturally flirty guy” and some of those girls are flirting back, he claims there is absolutely nothing else going on, they are just having fun. Plus, Dave says, since Joanna is a bartender it’s not like she doesn’t flirt with guys. His stance seems pretty reasonable until the gym butt-grabbing starts…

Ryan from Buckley has written to Fitz for help with his girlfriend Jessica. He says he followed Fitz’s advice to share his social media passwords with her so she can see he has nothing to hide, but now it seems she is using posing as him to try and bait women to see if she can catch him cheating. Ryan says he noticed he was getting a lot of weird answers from certain women but knew he hadn’t reached out to them, and says only Jessica has that kind of access. When Jessica comes on she says he has a lot of female friends and wanted to know how Ryan knew them all, so she sent some simple messages, as him, just to see how they would respond. When we press her it turns out she has been cheated on before so she has trust issues. This upsets Ryan because he says he is just not that kind of guy. He concedes that he is in sales and has a lot of attractive women “friends” and “followers” that he has to be nice to, but feels Jessica should not let her own past color how he lives his life, and she needs to learn to have trust. Can the P1’s fix this one? Or is Jessica too far gone? (Also - do you bring your wife or girlfriend on sales calls? Asking for a friend…)

Brad from Silverdale is having trouble understanding why after 6 years of being with his girlfriend Eva, he still has to make a big deal and spend a lot of money on Valentine’s Day. He says she demands the full treatment every year, with a ferry trip to Seattle and dinner at Canlis, and he just can’t afford that kind of stuff anymore. He says he did it at the beginning of their relationship when they were dating and stuff to show her he cared, but doesn’t think he should have to keep it up and he feels Eva should be at a point in her life where she is over Valentine’s Day too, but she continues to push it really hard. When Eva comes on, she sounds pretty frustrated with Brad being lazy about their relationship and she says money can’t be too much of an issue because he drops a lot of dough on video games. The P1’s think Brad may need to step it up a bit, until Eva brings up some dude named Derek who has offered to show her a good time and suddenly we all wanna get on a ferry and get away.

Brad from Gig Harbor has called for help with a situation with his girlfriend Anna. He feels like she is way oversharing details about their life together on social media. He says at first it was just pictures and like a “play-by-play” of their activities and he felt even that was too much, but thought maybe he was just less interested in the day-to-day of social and let it go. Then he started getting weird messages from his friends about their private issues and discovered Anna has been posting about their troubles and fights, and asking everyone for advice and support, and now Brad feels it’s an invasion of his privacy. When Anna comes on she says she is using social media as a journal of their lives. She admits she likes the validation of hearing what her friends have say but also sometimes really just wants to know that others are going through the same thing and to get their advice. Well, if she wants advice, here come the P1’s to give it to her, but it may be not the advice she wants to hear.

James from Lynwood moved here from San Marcos, Texas, three months ago to be with his girlfriend Maria who is an engineer for Boeing. He says he still loves her, but his own life feels like it’s going the wrong direction, mostly because totally he hates living in the Northwest. James says at first it was the rain and now it’s the snow and he finds the gray skies depressing and he wants to move back to Texas. Fitz says he understands, being from Texas himself, but it takes times, and James should open his eyes and heart and enjoy that the Northwest is a “Postcard Everywhere You Look.” But James sounds like has made up his mind, and he’s going back to Texas whether Maria comes or not. When Maria comes on, she says she understands it’s easier for her since she has a cool job and James doesn’t really have much to do yet, but he’s being unreasonably impatient about the weather; they moved here in the darkest part of the year and he needs to give it a lot more time to see everything the area has to offer and how beautiful it can be. But this all seems to be falling on deaf ears. Is James a lost cause?

Gina from Everett has called in for advice about her boyfriend Sean. Gina says Sean suddenly shaved off his beard and now he looks completely different. They’ve been together for quite a while and she had never seen him without his beard. She says she knows it’s just a simple cosmetic change but she can’t help herself – she sees him differently now; she wanted a rugged outdoorsy mountain man, and now he’s just a regular guy. But most of all she wishes he had consulted her. When Sean comes on he says he is not sure why she Gina is so upset – he is still the same guy, he still does the outdoorsy stuff, but he just got tired of dealing with the beard. He hadn’t seen his own face since he was a teenager and was curious what it looked like, but now that it’s done he’s enjoying not having to do the work to maintain his facial hair so he probably won’t grow it back, at least not for a while. He says he was actually getting eczema and he feels much better now. As far as not telling her, he thought it would be a new sexy surprise and didn’t think he needed her permission. As usual Fitz thinks the sudden change means Sean is cheating, and the P1’s agree, until Gina shows her ugly, superficial side.

Brittney from Bonney Lake has asked for help with her boyfriend Wes. She says he’s a crier. Like, a lot. She says at first she found it kind of sweet that he was able to enjoy sad movies and stuff along with her. But then she realized he was crying at happy things. And sports, win or lose. And not just in private but in public too. And it’s not just tears dripping down, but sobbing and wailing. Her breaking point through recently came when Harry and Meghan left the Royal Family. Brittney says Wes has been inexplicably upset by that and thinks he needs to man up a little. When Wes comes on, he says he was raised in a commune in which everyone – girls and boys – was encouraged to express their feelings. Wes says he doesn’t understand why it bothers Brittney so much because it is just a natural reaction to being in touch with your true self. And we get that. But when he starts to explain his take on Harry and Meghan, things get…awkward.

Listener Anna has asked Fitz for help with her boyfriend Walter. She is upset because he has decided to go ahead with his annual guys’ trip for Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas even though her father is having surgery this weekend and she has asked him to stay home and help her. She says her dad has been like a father to Walter and she can’t believe he would up and leave when the man really needs him. And, she hasn’t even old her dad yet because she is afraid he will be upset. Before Walter even comes on, the P1’s demand to know what kind of surgery this is – life threatening or mole removal? When Walter comes out we find out it is in fact just foot surgery, a bunion, not at all serious, and Walter thinks even Ana’s dad would agree that’s a ridiculous reason to cancel any trip, let alone the Super Bowl. She says the type of surgery is not the point, it’s about being there for each other. But, come on, do you always really have to actually, literally, like, “be there?”

Taylor from Mill Creek has called in to talk about her boyfriend Chris. They live together in an apartment in which they have to use the living room as their bedroom because his DVD collection takes up the entire bedroom. She says Chris has obsessively collected DVD’s for years and refuses to get rid of any of them. But what’s worse is that he firmly believes that quality-wise they are best the way to watch anything and so he refuses to stream any current TV shows, so she can’t keep up with her friends on the latest shows that everyone is bingeing. And she feels like something as simple as watching TV should be a common interest for a couple but since he refuses to budge on the format she is forced to choose between spending time with him and keeping up with her friends conversations. And then there’s her concern over the third person in their relationship: Harrison Ford.

Erica from Lake Stevens has asked Fitz for help with a problem with her boyfriend Jeremy. She says last week during “Snowmaggedon” she lost control of her car and got stuck on the side of the road but when she called him for help he wouldn’t come. She says she specifically called him for help because he has a big truck with a winch and could have gotten her out easily but he said he was too busy to help. But what really upset her was that this wasn’t the first time – in fact, she claims, there have been several times that she has called him for help with either car trouble or some other issue where she really needed his help and he wouldn’t come. When Jeremy comes in he says the reason he didn’t help during “Snowmaggedon” was he was working and as an independent contractor he couldn’t just leave work. As for the all the “other times” he can’t explain every single circumstance, but thinks in general Erica needs to learn how to be more self-sufficient. Watch out Jeremy – the P1 Ladies are teeing off on you!

And he further claims she was so drunk that she didn’t know what she saw, but Melanie can’t even with that statement. Things got so bad that Melanie asked him to refrain drinking for the rest of the holiday season! Ryan seemed like he thought that was overkill but was willing to do what she wanted to keep her happy. Today, Melanie catches us up on what happened over Christmas - and it went beyond her family to her office Holiday Party!

Rachel from Marysville has written to Fitz for help with her boyfriend Dominic, who she says is addicted to Karaoke. At first she was suspicious that he was cheating because he was going out so many nights, but she did “Find My Phone” and tracked him and determined that he really was always at different Karaoke bars around the region. It’s affecting her for two main reasons: 1) he is totally obsessed and talks about it day and night and goes out every night so its affecting their time together. But perhaps more importantly, 2) she thinks he is not very good at it. She’s never told him that, but confesses it to us, not realizing he is already on the line and hears it! After Dominic and Fitz discuss the finer points of Karaoke, he talks about how important it is to him, and how much of a following he has and how happy it makes him. Fitz and some of the P1’s support Dominic and his dream, but Drew and the rest of the P1’s think Dominic should do some more work on the relationship. And wait – is that Barry singing?!?!

Jesse thought Mark was being really insecure and says everyone has a past that shouldn’t have to be erased for someone new. The P1’s thought they both needed to give a little: Mark needed to “man up” because Jesse is with him after all, and but also Jessie needed to do some think cloud “housecleaning”, and frankly they both need some therapy. Today we had Mark on the phone to update us on their relationship and he says they broke up because she was too stubborn to erase the pictures. But Jessie called in - unplanned – and says that’s not really the way it went down…

A few weeks ago Nikki from Bremerton wrote to Fitz about her boyfriend Andrew – or more specifically, about his mother. Nikki was dreading going to Andrew’s for Thanksgiving again this year because his mother doesn’t like her; she liked his old girlfriend a lot and was really upset when they broke up. She even makes comments about Nikki not having a college degree and wearing too much makeup and she calls her names behind her back. When Andrew came on he admitted his mom didn't like Nikki and also admits she really loved his old girlfriend, but he claims he has told his mother multiple times that it was a high school relationship and this is a grown adult relationship and it’s for real and forever. Andrew’s attitude was that his mom is never gonna change and that he and Nikki just have to suck it up and put up with it. He said it’s only one day and no one in the real world likes Thanksgiving, “it’s just something you get through.” The listeners are lit up over this one because, let’s face it, we all have “that relative”. But how did the dinner actually go? Did they Stand up to His Mom? Did they Make Up or Break Up?

Hannah from Tukwila has written to Fitz about her boyfriend Justin. She says he refuses to get a car because he doesn’t want to contribute to the local transit problem and he has an idealistic notion about using mass transit and riding his bike or Ubering when necessary. But she says he doesn’t really do those things very often and ends up borrowing her car a lot. And he works in Redmond so when he takes the car he has it for a long time and she’s the one who ends up Ubering. When Justin comes on, he says Hannah is blowing it out of proportion. He says he certainly does ride his bike all the time, and has even ridden it to work in Redmond a few times. And he says he absolutely will use the light rail when it’s completed to Redmond in a few years although until then will just keep making do. And he says riding his bike is getting him into great shape, and they are both saving money by not taking on another car payment. These two sure have a different view of just how much he rides his bike and when Fitz suggests she put a mileage tracker on him, things get a little…heated!

Carson from Enumclaw has written in to Fitz for help because he thinks his girlfriend Cat is pretending to be this monster San Francisco 49’ers fan just to be obnoxious. He says it’s all a show because she doesn’t really know much about football and sometimes wears a football jersey when it’s not even football season. And to make matters worse, he thinks, it’s a Colin Kaepernick jersey. He is getting too embarrassed to bring her to his family occasions anymore because she once actually had a run-in with his dad. When Cat comes on she says Carson is misrepresenting this – she does love football and has always been a Niners fan, and she wears the jersey because she loves the colors as well Colin Kaepernick’s mission, although she’s not quite sure what it is. And she says her problem with his dad is more about how much his father drinks than it is about who she roots for. Can these two work this out or, as it often is on MUBU, is this a symptom of a much bigger problem? The P1’s have a thing or two to say…!

Today we have a “Make Up or Break Up Follow Up”. Last month we had Nicole and Jason from Marysville on the show. They’ve been together 3 years but Jason had never changed his Facebook status from “it’s complicated” to “in a relationship”. Nicole said she didn’t have any particular suspicions that Jason was cheating but found it weird and had her friends always asking her if things are OK. When Jason came on he says he doesn’t care about social media and is only on it because he “has” to be in today’s society and was hesitant to change his status because that would lead to a flurry of reactions and unwanted attention. But when Fitz pushed him on whether he was keeping his status loose as a “lifeline” to other girls, Jason got weirdly dodgy. So here we are a month since that call and we tried to get them both back on the show to find out what happened, but, ummm, only one of them agreed…

Blake from Des Moines has called into the show about his girlfriend Roxie. He says she is really over the top about cleaning, constantly picking up after him and vacuuming, and sometimes even gets up the middle of the night to clean. We kid with Blake that he should be happy living with someone that does all the cleaning so he doesn’t have to, but Blake says it’s hard living with the pressure of always feeling like he’s making a mess plus Roxie’s always dashing around doing something, and frankly Blake is just worried about her. When Roxie comes on, she says she grew up in a very dirty home and vowed that she would never live like that; she even confides that at some point authorities came to her home for a welfare check and nearly took her away from her family. This leads us to wonder about the deep-seated root of this problem, and we – and the listeners – weigh in on whether Roxie needs some professional help, or if Blake really is so much of a slob that keeping up with him really is a 24-hour-a-day job.

Eric and Melissa have different styles of discipline for their kids - he does it and she doesn’t - and now their 8-year-old son is acting out and they have come to an impasse on how to handle him; plus they also have a 3-year-old son and Eric wants to get Melissa on the same page before the little one gets any older and sees what his brother is getting away with. When Melissa comes on she says she understands their son is difficult – he has ADHD – but her own father ruled through fear and she doesn’t want that for her kids. Amy from Spanaway has written in to Fitz for help because she thinks her boyfriend Brad is extremely over the top about Christmas. Today is Halloween and she says their house is already decorated for Christmas, and not just decorated, but totally lit up Clark Griswold style. Not just outside, but also inside every room, garage and everything. Amy says she doesn’t hate Christmas or decorations – they are fun – but it’s the amount and how early in the year it is, when kids are coming to trick or treat, it’s embarrassing. Amy does offer that she is an atheist and wonders if Brad is trying to kind of throw that in her face. When Brad comes on, he is absolutely 100% about Christmas. He says it lifts his spirits and thinks others feel the same. And he even admits to the Griswold comparison because his parents loved “Christmas Vacation” and bought all the lights. Amy feels like we do not understand the enormity of his obsession, and Brad feels like she is missing out on something major in life. The P1’s are interestingly divided on this one – this couple may have deeper issues.

She also wants him to recreate his proposal with all their friends and family around and with better lightning and clothing than they had that day. He feels like Toni is sucking all the romance and fun out of a really important day and her obsession is starting to get in the way of their lives. When Toni comes on she’s says she has looked forward to this day all her life and that all women will agree with her that weddings are about the woman and not the man so Marcus should just relax and stay in his lane. But she may have miscalculated how the women will react – the P1’s are fired about Toni not staying in her own aisle, er, lane.

Nicole from Marysville has written in about her boyfriend Jason. They’ve been together 3 years and he has never changed his Facebook status from “it’s complicated” to “in a relationship”. She says he says he doesn’t care about that stuff but he is on Facebook so she knows it matters to him somehow. When Fitz asks if she thinks he is using “it’s complicated” as sympathy bait, she says she’s hopes not and she doesn’t have any particular suspicions that he’s cheating but she just finds it all really weird and her friends are always asking her if things are OK. She says it’s causing her anxiety and that alone should be enough for him to change it. She hopes WE will get to him to give up some kind of answer. When Jason comes on he says he doesn’t care about social media and is only on it because he “has” to be in today’s society. When we suggest that he just change his status to no status at all, he says that would lead to a flurry of reactions and unwanted attention. But when Fitz pushes him on whether he is keeping it a “lifeline” to other girls, Jason is a little….dodgy.

Clay from Maple Valley has asked for our help because he is uncomfortable that his girlfriend Megan from Kent is always paying for everything and spending a lot of money on him. He acknowledges that she makes more than him and says he is OK with that, but he doesn’t like that she takes him on elaborate vacations and buys him nice things; he thinks she should be saving more for the future. When Megan comes on we get quite a bit more detail, including that she works at Amazon and he is an assistant manager at Taco Time and her salary is about 4 times his. She says she has worked very hard to get where she is, she is absolutely saving for the future, and she wants to enjoy whatever time off she has doing cool stuff and travelling with Clay and she doesn’t get why he can’t just enjoy it. It seems like such a solvable problem and an easy “Make Up”, until Clay says the reason it’s so important to save for the future is because he assumes when they have kids she will quit working. That’s when the Mexi-Fries start flying.

Mike from Bonney Lake has written in to Fitz. He says he knows this won’t sound like a big problem to other people but it is to him: his girlfriend Sylvia is way too into Public Display of Affection. He says she is constantly wanting to hold hands and kiss on him and have him kiss her. He says he knows it sounds lame but she really goes overboard, even comparing her to a bear mauling him. When Sylvia comes on she admits she likes physical affection but doesn’t think it’s overboard. She thinks when people love each other they should show it. And she says it’s not just a public problem for Mike – he is not particularly affectionate at home either. And it gets a little…uncomfortable…when she brings up the name of another woman at his job and questions whether he is touchy feel with her. In fact, the P1’s are pretty much on Mike’s side until the name “Allison” pops up.

Michael from Issaquah has written in to Fitz because he has had it with his girlfriend Chase violating the couples “Streaming Code”. He says it was bad enough when she started getting ahead of him on shows they watched together, but now she is starting to not even care about saying spoilers in front of him. He says she has finished “Big Little Lies” and told her a major spoiler and now it’s ruined for him. When Chase comes on she says Michael is not giving us all the information: he falls asleep while they’re watching TV so if she waited for him it would have to be an entire day. And as for the alleged “BLL” spoiler alert Chase says she wasn’t talking to him she was talking to her friend on the phone and Michael just overheard. When the P1’s get involved, we get lots of versions of the rules of the “Streaming Code” and its clear both Michael and Chase need to go to the Penalty Box.

You’ve been asking if we ever hear back from couples who’ve been on the show before and whether they made up or broke up. Well, we recently heard from a couple from a few weeks back. Jeff from Buckley had written to Fitz because his girlfriend Vanessa didn’t like his friends. He said they were all great guys that he’s known forever, and they’ve been through thick and thin together, but he really loves Vanessa and doesn’t get why she won’t even hang out with his friends a little. But when Vanessa came on she said Jeff’s friends were all stoner losers and she thought they were holding him back from doing more with his life. And she thought they were purposely bringing around girls for him to meet to break them apart. While the P1’s felt Vanessa should try to be nicer and understanding about Jeff’s homeboys, they also thought maybe she had a point about them holding him back. On today’s show, we talk to Jeff and Vanessa again to find out what happened after they were on the show, and how they are doing now. Get some snacks ready.

Sasha from Auburn has written in to Fitz because of an incident that happened with her boyfriend Ryan. It started because Sasha has been having an ongoing problem at work involving her boss and a coworker. She was up for a promotion and the other woman got it and Sasha was really upset. This has been going on for a while and, as with all relationships, Sasha has been coming home to Ryan and venting about it. Ryan is a good listener but he is also a man of action, and suddenly one day he decided he wanted to help, so he called Sasha’s boss to try and correct the situation. Sasha says it is now super awkward at work and Ryan should have stayed in his lane. But when Ryan comes on he says he wasn’t trying to cross the line, he was just trying to help. He says he was tired of listening to her complain about something he thought was easily solved so he solved it. The P1’s think this couple can work this out, but it leads to a debate on the age-old question: do women want someone to just listen to them vent, or to actually go do something? And how are men supposed to know the difference?

Melissa from Parkland is suspicious about her boyfriend Tommy’s activities and whereabouts after work. She says he often takes a long time to get home, which he blames on traffic, but which she says can’t be true every day because she’s actually driven his route just to check. Sometimes he says he is at work late but he never has details to offer about what he was doing. Melissa admits she sounds paranoid, but she says Tommy works with a cute girl and he does have a past history of cheating when he was with his former girlfriend. When Tommy comes on, he says he loves Melissa but she is a complete control freak who tracks his phone and then calls him, wherever he is, to confirm his location and found out when he is coming home. Tommy admits to sometimes stopping off at a bar after work for a drink before going home for some “alone time”, and he also admits that yes, one time, a long time ago, he was unfaithful to someone else, but the past is the past and Melissa needs to let it go. Once the two of them start talking to each other, though…ooof, it is not looking good for these two.

Dave from Federal Way is asking us for help with his relationship with his girlfriend Olivia. He says she has become obsessed with weight loss and its affecting their relationship. He says he loves her and has always loved their lifestyle, but it’s all changing now. He says he fell in love with her the way she looked before, kinda curvy, and he loved their routines like going to Olde Country Buffet or going to the movies. Now he feels like he’s dating a “gym rat health nut”. When Olivia comes on she says he left out a major detail: her doctor told her she is at an unhealthy weight and at risk for diabetes and heart disease, and has to make some major changes. Dave says he gets that, but thinks Olivia is overreacting. He also doesn’t think she really needs to dress so provocatively to go to the gym, although he is describing basic workout clothes. And then…it becomes clear they’ve both been holding on to these issues for a while because the gloves come off!

Whitney from Stanwood thinks her boyfriend Bill has become a conspiracy theorist and she wants it to stop; he spends all of his free time reading up on aliens and the related government cover-ups, and has started chatting and meeting with groups who she says are totally winding him up. She says he’s entitled to his beliefs, but thinks it’s beyond reason and his obsession is starting to interfere with their relationship since it’s all he will talk about and spend his time on. When Bill comes on, he is frustrated and worried that Whitney doesn’t share his belief and is in no way prepared for the world to come. Bill also hates the term “conspiracy theory” because he says they aren’t conspiracies if they’re true. And he’s adamant about trying to get Whitney to understand what he knows to be true. The P1’s are pretty sure these two are not gonna make it because they don’t agree, BUT, the real drama is everyone’s disagreement on whether Bill is completely crazy or completely right!

Lyla and Chris from Bothell have been together for five years. Lyla has asked Fitz to put them on the show because she is getting tired of Chris having so many female friends and contacts on social media. She says he is constantly engaging in banter, commenting on photos, and using lots of emojis. And she says Chris says much nicer things to these random people on Facebook and Insta than he ever does to her. She says it’s not that she is fishing for compliments, but she would love some of the attention that he heaps on others. When Chris comes on he says he is a realtor and he needs to cultivate these relationships for work. He says the flirting and complimenting woman on their LuluLemon yoga pants is just part of the process of selling homes. No one is buying this act though: not Lyla, not us, and certainly not the P1’s, many of whom are realtors!

Christine from Lakewood has called in to the show because she feels like her boyfriend Ben is really cheap. She appreciates that he’s responsible with money and is saving for the future but feels he’s doing it at the expense of their present happiness like living in a really grungy apartment and wasting time on a Sunday waiting in line to get gas at Costco. And she’s really embarrassed when they go out to eat because he doesn’t tip servers, calling tipping a scam. When Ben comes on, he impresses us with how much money he’s saved with the intention of buying a house. And he says he does too tip, if the service is outstanding, but doesn’t see why you should tip people just for doing their job. Fitz calls him out for not tipping, but for the most part the P1’s are supporting Ben and saying Christine should consider herself lucky to have a man who is so good with money.

Brandon from Granite Falls is getting pretty grossed out by his girlfriend Tiffany’s lack of cleaning skills around the house and in his car. He claims that, on a scale of 1-10, she is a 2000. His primary example? Finding a Starbucks cup in the car console with - get this - a booger stuck on top! He tells us a few other examples that might make you lose your breakfast. It’s pretty damn funny, but it’s serious to Brandon because he is a Real Estate Agent and sometimes has clients in the car so it can be an expensive problem if an old cheeseburger rolls out. And he says he has spoken to her about it a million times and he’s tired of having the conversation. But when Tiffany comes on, she says Brandon is completely exaggerating about the car, it’s not that bad, and bedsides, she does his laundry and we wouldn’t believe the skid marks. When the conversation degenerates into an argument about Proper Booger Procedure, it seems clear these two are made for each other! And….it’s possible no else wants them!!

He is wondering if there is something about them that she is trying to hide from him, or maybe something about him that she doesn’t want them to know. When Stephanie comes on she is pretty casual about it, and thinks Noah is making something out of nothing. She finds it more unusual when people rush into meeting family, but Noah points out that 2 years together isn’t “rushing” and presses her about why the delays. And as the conversation continues, she gets a little…evasive…

Hannah from Shoreline sent Fitz a message because she is concerned about her relationship with her boyfriend Alex. They’ve been together for 6 years and she loves him, but the fact that he’s a “momma’s boy” is really getting in the way now. The breaking point was their latest vacation – she says for six years running now they only ever vacation with his entire family in the same place every year - Phoenix in August! - and she’s tired of it. They are all trapped inside together, only go out together as a group, and she and Alex can’t even share a room. She also says his mom is very needy and controlling and whatever she wants Alex always puts her first, even ahead of Hannah. When Alex comes on, he is upset to learn his girlfriend “hates his family” and is shocked to realize that’s why they came on the show. He is also surprised that she doesn’t appreciate that they get a free vacation every year. His call does not last long and to be honest, this episode ends very awkwardly and abruptly.

Sara has called in to the show because she is concerned about her future with her boyfriend Dylan. She feels like he is not living up to his potential, and not using his degree to better himself. She also doesn’t like that he comes home dirty. She is a nurse and is not against hard work but thinks he could do something better. But when Dylan comes on, it turns out he is and a plumber’s apprentice. Money-wise, he earns well enough already and when he is done with the apprenticeship in 7 months, he could be making six figures within the year. And it’s not just about the money for him – his grandfather was a plumber, so it’s a family trade, plus he loves the challenges and the problem-solving, and helping people who are in dire straits. He’s perfectly happy and doesn’t understand why Sara is so unhappy about it. As for the P1’s, well, brace yourself, because the response is a landslide and they let Sara have it.

Steven from Bremerton has written in for help with his girlfriend Olivia who he says has impulsively quit her job to go to school to become a dental hygienist. He says he is proud of her and wants her to be happy but now he’s not sure how they are going to make it on just his check as a part-time waiter. When Olivia joins us, she acknowledges the actual decision was impulsive but says they had been talking about the future a lot and this was on the table, and she knew it was time to make a move to better their lives. She says she loves him and is doing it for both of them. The P1’s are pretty divided on their prospects for the future: some say she is selfish for doing it without talking to him, others say he sounds lazy and she could do way better. What do you think?

She can’t go to Canada because she has a DUI which stops her at the border. She feels like this is insensitive of him, but also she feels left out and like he is putting her second to his buddies. She also wonders if maybe there are women involved when they go. When David comes on, he says she is exaggerating about how often he goes to Canada although he admits it is about ten times a year. He says this is something he has done with these same buddies for several years and it’s their “thing”, and he says he and Sara go other places together. He also throws in a comment about how she brought this on herself with the DUI. The P1’s have some choice words for both of them.

Tara from Olympia has written to Fitz for help on our Facebook Page because she doesn’t like that her boyfriend Zack from Lacey is mean to his mother. She says he is very impatient with her, yells at her and says mean things about her, including calling her the “B” word, and declines her phone calls. When Zack comes on, he says Tara is being ridiculous, he is no nicer or meaner to his mom than the average person. He admits declining her calls but says he sends lots of people to voice mail all the time. He admits he has called her “the B word” but it’s OK for him to that, just not other people. Tara feels Zack is lying on this phone call, and is concerned about their longevity. We do not feel a lot of warmth from Zack for either his mom or Tara, and the texters point that out, but some P1 callers come to his defense saying that we don’t know much about the mom and Zack’s relationship with her and maybe Tara needs more info before she judges.

As for the relationship, she says she and Rob are drifting apart, spending less time together, and fighting more and Robert doesn’t want even to acknowledge it. Robert says he is willing to work on the relationship if she really wants to (he’s not especially enthusiastic) but if the relationship ends, he is taking the dog, there is no question about it. She says she it was her idea to get a dog and she is the one found Sigmund; he says he is the one who put up the adoption fee and first medical bills. They both seem to want to argue about the dog but not take any responsibility for their actual human issues and the P1’s try to get them to see be that.

She is upset because it’s not what she would consider a safe and convenient family car, and because he made such a major decision without consulting her. When Chris comes on, he says there wasn’t time to call her as the dealer was offering him an amazing take-or-leave it package. He says he got the model with safety features and a good safety rating. But their son is really into a YouTube channel he has created and Matt says Cassie is feeding that in the hopes that he will make a lot of money. But when Dana gets on, she says Ryan had a lot of useless crap lying around, with broken frames and pictures with beer stains, some actual trash, and really old ripped clothes from every era of his life. And she says she still left many of his personal items around, even though she doesn’t like them. She says it’s also occurred to her that he may be doing “other things” when he claims to be out driving. But when Mike joins, he is pretty upset. He says he is trying to save up for a “certain thing” which we assume means a ring. He says there is no “silly business” going on, it’s all just fares. And he is a writer so all the stories he hears from riders are going into his work. But she says there is no “us” anymore – all they talk about is his Uber people.
