EPISODE 241In personal growth circles, we often hear about the importance of the 4C’s of connection, cooperation, collaboration and co-creation.

We are encouraged to connect, cooperate, collaborate and co-create with other people and with our own unique soul purpose, our own relationships, our own communities and our own goals.

Yet there is another equally important concept that receives far less attention: the ability to disassociate, then disconnect from things that are not good for us.

Disassociation, in this context, is not about denial or avoidance. Rather, it is the conscious decision to separate ourselves from negative thoughts, behaviors, environments, people, influences and energies. that no longer support our growth, well-being, or positive transformation.

Before we can move toward something better, we must first disassociated then disconnect from what is holding us back.

How can you disassociate then disconnect from things in your own life?

Positive transformation is about both what we are willing to release from our lives and what we put back into our lives.

Small acts of disassociation and disconnection create powerful transformations over time and create a postive impact in your life.

EPISODE 240Human life is rarely defined by permanence. It is instead defined by change.

You do not live in static conditions. You live your life in dynamic conditions.

A career begins and ends. Relationships form and dissolve. Health changes. Beliefs evolve. Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) disrupt industries.

You move through periods of uncertainty in the chaos of change before your life stabilizes into something new.

Between every significant “before” and “after” exists an interesting space: called the “passage.”

A “passage” is the ambiguous space between two change events.

A “passage” is a psychological, emotional, intellectual, relational, and spiritual interval space between what was and what will become.

A “passage” is often where your most important personal growth actually occurs.

How can you use effective use “passages” when they occur your own life?

Reacting to “passages” and change in a positive way can help you create a positive impact in your personal and professional life.

EPISODE 239Leadership used to be about certainty. You set a vision, built a plan, and executed it with precision.

How would you define your own leadership style right now?

My leadership style in part has always been, “Follow me.”

What are you doing to build a successful team right now?

In the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), leadership models and team building methods are becoming obsolete.

Today, change is constant, disruption is expected, and the future rarely unfolds the way you predict.

In this environment, the most effective leaders aren’t the ones with all the answers. They are leaders who can adapt the fastest with new leadership tools.

How can you become an Adaptive Leader in your own life?

The leaders who thrive in this new era of AI will not be the most authoritative or the most experienced.

They will be the most adaptable.

Becoming an Adaptive Leader can help you create a positive impact in your personal and professional life.

EPISODE 238Personal development has traditionally focused on goals, motivation, and habits.

People set goals to lose weight, write a book, start a business, etc. and then search for the motivation or discipline required to reach them.

Yet many people discover a frustrating pattern: goals are set enthusiastically, but over time motivation fades and habits slowly disappear to achieve those goals.

There is a new approach to personal growth and development that suggests a different starting point.

Instead of focusing primarily on goals, individuals focus on identity, who they are becoming.

This perspective is called identity-based development, and it proposes that lasting change occurs when behaviors align with a person’s identity rather than simply with external objectives such as their long term or short term goals.

At its core, identity-based development shifts the question from “What do I want to achieve?” to “Who do I want to become?”

What are some practical ways to implement identity-based development so that your behavior naturally aligns with the person someone you want become?

Practicing identity-based development creates a significant positive impact in your own life.

EPISODE 237Are You a Disruptor?

Many people feel the word disruptor used to belong exclusively to Silicon Valley. It described founders who overturned industries, rewrote business models, and rendered legacy systems obsolete, such as Bill Gates with Microsoft Windows, Steve Jobs with the iPhone, Elon Musk with SpaceX and Tesla and others.

What Is a Disruptor, Really?

At its core, disruption is not chaos. It is intentional pattern interruption.

A disruptor identifies an entrenched framework then challenges it.

In business, that might mean replacing physical stores with e-commerce such as what Amazon.com did.

In personal growth, being a disruptor means replacing inherited beliefs with consciously chosen ones.

Personal disruptors are individuals who transform their identity, habits, and trajectory.

A Practical Framework for Personal Disruption

If you want to operate as a personal disruptor in your own life, apply this structured approach:

Creating and using a new disruptive framework will create a significant positive impact in your own life.

EPISODE 236Most people think change requires more time, more information, or more motivation.
It doesn’t.

Immediate positive change begins the moment you Decide. Period.

Not consider.
Not hope.
Not wait until conditions improve.

Not try.

Decide. Period.

Decide right now.

“Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and committed decision.”
Tony Robbins the self-help and motivational teacher

How can you make decisions that will change the trajectory of your own life?

Decide. Period.

Your life doesn’t change when circumstances change.
Your life changes when you Decide. Period.

EPISODE 235In our age of constant comparison, endless opinions, and relentless noise, one of the greatest challenges we face is not deciding what to do, but deciding who to listen to.

Trends change. External validation is fleeting. Yet, beneath the surface of all this motion, there exists something far more stable: your North Star.

Your North Star is not a goal, a job title, or a destination.

Your North Star is an internal compass, a deeply held sense of purpose, values, and direction that remains constant even when circumstances change.

Your North Star, is your Intuition.

Stephen Lesavich, PhD

Your North Star, your Intuition, is your First Sense, what you use before using your other five senses of seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching.

Believing in your North Star, your Intuition, is the act of trusting that inner guidance, especially when the path forward feels uncertain.

A life guided by your North Star, your Intuition, is be linear, but it is coherent. Over time, seemingly disconnected choices begin to form a pattern. Effort feels purposeful. Resilience deepens. Confidence becomes quieter but more stable.

What are practical steps to connect with your own North Star, your Intuition?

When you trust that internal compass, your North Star, your Intuition, you move through uncertainty with dignity. You make fewer decisions driven by fear and more driven by meaning.

Believing in your North Star, your Intuition, is not about having all the answers. It is about committing to live in relationship with your inner truth, even as it evolves to create a positive impact in your life.

That is your real north, your North Star, its your Intuition.

EPISODE 234I was recently at a music concert at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, California with a friend of mine who is a Hollywood actress. It was a concert featuring Robby Krieger of the Doors and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.

Billy Gibbons said during the concert being a good performer depends on the “tuning” of your guitar and your “timing” playing on time with the rest of the band.

“It’s all about tuning and timing.”

Billy Gibbons

Like good music, a good life for you emerges when you are both in tune and on time.

How do you practice tuning and timing in your own life?

When you tune yourself carefully to your own intuition, pay attention to your own timing and enter your own song at exactly the right moment, you can create a positive impact in your own life.

EPISODE 233I was recently in Los Angles, California, to see a music concert at the Troubadour. A friend of mine, a Hollywood actress, joined me for the concert at Troubadour.

It was a concert including featuring Robby Krieger of the Doors and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.
Like most great venues, it has rules, and like most rules, they only matter when they suddenly apply to you. As we passed through security, her purse was searched and a forbidden item was discovered: chewing gum.

The security team informed her that chewing gum was not allowed inside. She was asked to give it up.
She could throw it away and leave it with security and pick it up after the concert.

She choose to leave her chewing gum with security.

However, some point, she made an empowered decision. She was going to get her gum back.

She left the club, retrieved the gum from security, walked back to her car, placed it safely inside, and then returned to the venue. Only then could she relax and enjoy the show with me.

She applied “The Chewing Gum Principles.”

“The Chewing Gum Principles provide a sense of empowered control over your own life within your own boundaries with you being responsible for you own actions.”

How can you use the Chewing Gum Principles in your own life?

Using the Chewing Gum Principles and always being aware of your own personal boundaries, being responsible for your own actions and always be empowered allows you to create a positive impact in your own life.

Even if someone tries to take away your chewing gum.

EPISODE 232You spend an extraordinary amount of time everywhere, except exactly where you are.

Your mind replays conversations from years ago, rehearses arguments that may never happen, and sprints ahead to a future that doesn’t yet exist. You re-live fears from your past and project your fears in the future.

Meanwhile, life, the real, tangible, breathing experience of it, is happening quietly beneath your feet.

You need to live in the now, right now!

The right now, the present moment is where your feet are.

Living in the now doesn’t mean ignoring the future or denying the past. It means recognizing that the only place you can do anything about either is here in the present moment, where your feet are.

How can you keep yourself where your feet are and live in the present moment?

Consider these practice tips.

Showing up fully in the present moment, where your feet are, allows you to create many positive impacts in your own life because it is where your influence is.

While cooperation aligns efforts, Collaboration combines individual strengths to produce something new.

It is synergy, where the whole, the Collaboration end product becomes greater than the sum of its parts.

How can you practice the concept of Collaboration in your own life?

Within the New Paradigm of the 4 Cs, Collaboration, is not merely about working together, it is about unlocking collective brilliance, elevating individual contributions and preparing the conditions where co-creation becomes not only possible, but inevitable.

EPISODE 226The other day, I made a small mistake while ordering something online. I typed in the wrong street address for my location to have my package delivered.

While trying to deliver the package, the delivery driver called me, confused. The location on her GPS delivery system in her truck, was showing a fire hydrant in an empty field.

I laughed quickly gave them the deliver driver my correct address. My package was successfully delivered, but my typing mistake stuck with me.

I was not surprised the fire hydrant may had a GPS address tag as the fire department needs to know where the fire hydrants are in an emergency situation.

However, the fact that my small mistakes got mapped to a fire hydrant in an empty field got me thinking: how often does a small mistake in your own life leave your somewhere you did not expect?

A single mistyped number, letter or set of misspoken words can often send you far off course in your own life.

How do you correct such mistakes in your own life?

Giving the Universe your correct address can create a significant positive impact in your own life.

EPISODE 223When I worked as a professional software engineer for AT&T Bell Laboratories, I was a member of the AT&T corporate running team.

At that time, one component of AT&T Bell Laboratories was located in Naperville, Illinois, which is a city about 30 miles south west of the city of Chicago.

The AT&T running team was very competitive at that time and there were a couple of runners who could run about 4:10 mile. On my best days, I was running about a minute plus slower, or could run about a 5:30 pace per mile at that time.

On May 19, 1988, I ran a 6K (3.7 miles) running road race, the Spring Fling Run, sponsored by AT&T Bell Labs at the Hickory Ridge Conference Center in Lisle, Illinois, which is a city near Naperville.

I had a winning strategy in mind for the race.

The strategy I used to win that race made me think about developing a winning strategy in life and in business.

EPISODE 215Your attachment style, is a psychological blueprint that influences how you relate to others.

Attachment theory was developed by British psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, John Bowlby and later expanded by American-Canadian developmental psychologist, Mary Ainsworth.

Attachment theory is based on how you bonded with your primary caregivers (e.g., your mother, grandmother, aunt, father, etc.) which tends to mirror how you bond with others as an adult.

There are four types of personal and professional attachment styles: (1) secure; (2) anxious; (3) avoidant; and (4) disorganized.

Attachment style is very important in your personal life.

Attachment style plays a surprisingly powerful role in your professional life as well.

Your professional attachment style influences leadership, communication, collaboration, negotiation, and even how you handle success or failure.

How can you change your current personal or professional attachment style?

Creating a new attachment style by rewiring your own emotional habits allows you to create healthier connections and build new relationships in a new way to create a positive impact in your own life.

EPISODE 214A traumatic event is defined as “a distressing experience that causes significant emotional, psychological, or physical harm.”

Examples of traumatic events include such things as a car accident, a death of a loved one, a breakup, a loss of a job, or an ongoing series of events, like a chronic health problem, continuous physical, emotional or sexual abuse.

These traumatic events typically trigger a range of intense feelings and emotions, including fear, helplessness, and a sense of being overwhelmed.

Post-traumatic growth (PTG) is defined as “positive psychological changes that emerge as a result of struggling with adversity and trauma.”

PTG includes the idea that individuals can not only recover from a trauma but also experience significant personal development and personal transformation from it.

PTG involves changes in understanding oneself, others, and the world, and can include increased personal strength, appreciation for life, and a significant shift in priorities.

How can you use PTG to overcome any traumas you have experienced in your own life?

Traumas are life’s hardest moments, but can be the very thing when viewed as just a temporary setback that propels you into a new stronger version of yourself and create a significant positive impact in your life.

EPISDOE 212 The concept of micro-achievements focuses on the cumulative impact of small, consistently completed tasks on overall personal and professional development. This approach is particularly powerful because it taps into the psychological principle that achieving even minor goals can provide a substantial motivational boost in your mental health, creating a positive feedback loop that propels further successes for you.

When you recognize that you have completed a micro-task, no matter how small, it triggers the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with feelings of pleasure and satisfaction. This release encourages repeated behavior, helping you to establish and reinforce new habits.

Over time, these micro-achievements add up, leading to quick substantial improvements and changes in you and your engrained patterns. They can significantly improve your health, knowledge, productivity, and overall well-being. More importantly, as these small tasks become habits, they require less effort to maintain, freeing you up to pursue other goals.

How do you effectively utilize micro-achievements in your own life?

By focusing on micro-achievements, you can create to create a significant positive impact and a new trajectory in your own life.

EPISODE 186When you are faced with an important decision, how do you evaluate the risk associated with the decision?

Evaluating risk involves assessing the potential outcomes of a decision, considering the likelihood of those outcomes, and weighing their potential impact.

Four Square Risk Management is a simple, but very effective technique used to visually represent and assess risks in a structured manner. It involves using a four-square grid to categorize risks based on their probability and impact. This method helps in identifying which risks require immediate attention and which risks can be monitored over time.

EPISODE 185I was just in Madison, Wisconsin to attend a college graduation ceremony as my daughter graduated from the University of Wisconsin.

During the graduation ceremony, one of the graduation speakers told the audience that the campus in Madison, Wisconsin, on which the university sits was originally land that was part of Native American Ho- Chunk Nation. The Ho-Chunk people are called “the people of the scared voice.

This speaker went on to talk about how the Native American Ho-Chunk women would start with a single bead on a thread and keep adding additional beads of different colors to that thread. This process would be repeated on a large number of threads. The threads with all the beads were then weaved together until they created a beautiful work of art.

You create the fabric of your own life by adding personal experiences, your own beads, to threads in your own life.

Metaphorically this bead work refers to the essential elements that make up and shape your own personal experiences and existence.

EPISODE 182Psychological “glimmers” are small, fleeting, micro-moments of positivity and positive experiences that can significantly impact your emotional well-being.

Glimmers, as introduced by social worker Deb Dana, are specific examples of micro-moments that elicit feelings of happiness, hope, and safety.

Glimmers foster a sense of calm, connection, empathy, happiness and joy and effectively counter daily fear and stress in your own life.

Why are glimmers so important?

According to other psychologists, you actually have an inherent bias towards negativity in your own life. That is, you have propensity to learn from and use negative emotions, negative experiences and negative information far more than positive emotions, positive experiences and positive information in your own life.

Glimmers help you overcome the negative bias and bring a sense of connection and regulation to your nervous system to move you into a new emotional state which allows you to temporarily feel calm and content.

How you do generate glimmers in your own life?

Experiencing, acknowledging and embracing glimmers creates a positive impact in your own life.

EPISODE 179Let me tell you another true story.

A few years ago, I was invited by a friend of mine to play a round of golf at a country club golf course in the suburbs of Chicago.

We were to play with my friend’s brother and his boss, both doctors in private practice.

I arrived at the country club with a nice shirt that did not have a collar. My friend was dressed the same way.

This country club has its own rules and etiquette for playing golf.

When we arrived at the first tee, the starter indicated that the rules of the country club were very clear and no one could play golf in a shirt that did not have a collar.

Since my friend and I both lived 45 minutes from the course, there was no way we could drive home to change.

We were told our only alternative was to buy a shirt from the pro shop if we wanted to play.

Every shirt in the pro shop was priced at least $90, making the required purchase a very expensive one.

My friend and I decided to both purchase shirts with size 3XL (3 extra large).

Let me say, we both looked ridiculous. The shirt can down past my knees and I could have fit three of me inside the shirt.

As funny as it turned out, this is one unexpected situation for which I was not prepared.

How do you prepare for unexpected situations and events in your own life?

Always remember to PACK before you do anything.

Always remembering to PACK before you do anything can help make a positive impact in your own life.

As an attorney and a business coach, that made me think about something.

I wonder how onboarding has changed in corporate America since I experienced it myself?

Let me tell you another true story.

In my previous career as a professional software engineer, I worked for two tech companies, AT&T Bell Laboratories and U.S. Robotics both located in the suburbs of the City of Chicago.

I experienced two different personal onboarding processes as a new employee at AT&T Bell Labs and U.S. Robotics.

What new things are now being included in the onboarding process for new employees?

Updating your onboarding process can help make a positive impact in your organization.

EPISODE 175Let me tell you another true story.

I had a law office on South LaSalle Street in the financial district of downtown Chicago for over a decade.

One summer morning I had a meeting scheduled with the CEO of a financial company in my office to discuss an important legal matter.

As I walked to work, there was a thunderstorm occurring. When I turned onto South LaSalle Street I was hit by a microburst from the thunderstorm whose effect was magnified by tunnel effect of the tall buildings.

A microburst is “a pattern of intense winds and rain that descends from rain clouds, that hits the ground, and fans out horizontally in a wave.”

The wind and rain were so strong in the microburst, in just a few seconds I was completely drenched. Every inch of my clothes were 100% wet including my underwear and socks. Even my shoes were filled with about an inch of water. I looked like I had stepped in a shower with all my clothes on.

I experienced a microburst caused by a weather event on South LaSalle Street in Chicago.

You can experience a personal microburst in your own life.

A “personal microburst” is a psychological event that occurs in your own life.

A personal microburst is situation where you experience a strong, rapid, intense stressful event that causes you to be abruptly drenched and overwhelmed with negative feelings and emotions.

EPISODE 174Are you recognizing gradual change occurring in your life?

Let me tell you another true story.

The city I live in is considering closing several public grade schools, middle schools and one high-school due to declining enrollment.

In the neighborhood I grew up in, in just one square block, there were 13 households with 37 children.

When my mom passed away, in that same one square block I grew up in, in the same 13 houses, there were just three school aged children. Three.

The changes in my old neighborhood represent cycles of gradual change and necessary transitions.

Such cycles of gradual change and transitions are occurring in your own life.

Gradual changes are often incremental, happening in small steps over longer periods of time. You may not recognize gradual patterns of change as they slowly occur in your own life.

How do you learn to adapt to gradual change in your own life in a positive way?

Adapting to gradual change creates a positive impact in your own life.

I have written a free e-book you can download immediately from SLesavich.com to help you adapt to gradual changes that are occurring in your life.

EPISODE 173What are your financial values? Can you define them? Can you change them? Are you afraid to change your financial values?

A value is defined as “a person’s principles or standards of behavior; one’s judgment of what is important in life.”

Financial values are defined as “what you think or believe about debt, credit, spending, money and investments.

Do you know the root of your financial values?

A root is defined as “the origin or source of something.”

Let me tell you another true story.

I first learned about my initial root for my financial values because of one of the small plastic toys in a box on the window sill of a drug store I wanted to buy when I was 6 years old.

Wanting to purchase that toy provided a positive root for my own initial financial values. The purchase also planted a seed of interest in me for financial matters.

That seed grew over my lifetime and motivated me to co-author an award-winning and best-selling book, The Plastic Effect: How Urban Legends Influence the Use and Misuse of Credit Cards.

My book is a self-help book helping people understand credit, debt and how credit cards and debit cards actual work. The book won an independent publisher award, named the best new book in the finance/budgeting category and became a best-seller in paper and electronic formats on Amazon.

What are your financial values right now? What is the root of your own financial values?

Determining the root of your financial values and planting seeds to create new financial values will allow you to make a positive impact in your life moving forward.

EPISODE 172I am sure all of you have been on an interstate highway or a county highway and have seen a car carrier. A car carrier is a type of trailer or semi-trailer designed to efficiently transport multiple passenger vehicles.

Multiple vehicles are loaded on multiple levels of the car carrier trailer.

Actual car carriers are symbolic of how some groups of people travel on their own soul paths on their journey through life.

The car carrier represents a set of collective energythat people are obedient to and are under the control of some other person or some other thing who is energetically driving the car carrier represented by the set of collective energy. Such sets of collective energy include such things family, religious, spiritual, cultural, political and other types of collective energy.

I call this obedience to any collective energy “the Car Carrier Effect.”

STEPHEN LESAVICH, PHD

Being part of a set of collective energy that is included in an energetic car carrier means you are living in a passive, dis-empowered state. In most instances you are not making any individual decisions, are not accepting responsibility for any decisions you do make and are not trying to co-create your own life in any way.

So what should you do if have determined your energetic passenger vehicle is parked on one or more energetic car carriers in your life?

Being aware what energetic car carriers your energetic passenger vehicle is parked on can help you make adjustments to make a positive impact in your life.

I am driving my own passenger vehicle, a sports car, model, SXL, how about you?

EPISODE 171Let me tell you another true story.

A little while ago I was driving down a very busy county highway and there was a guy standing in the middle of the road.

He was waiving his arms and I stopped my truck.

He indicated that he ran out of gas and asked if I could give him a ride to the nearest gas station.

Since there is a gas station near my office, I agreed.

I drove the guy to the gas station and he purchased a plastic gas can and filled it with a gallon of gas.

He then asked me if I could drive him back to his vehicle because he had no way of getting back.

I agreed again.

When we arrived at his vehicle, the guy just got out of my truck and walked away without saying a word.

Not a thank you. Not a good bye. Nothing. Not a single word.

I had given about an hour of my time and a gallon of my own gas to take him to the gas station and then back to his vehicle.

I have to admit, I was expecting a different response, a different attitude and showing some gratitude.

I believe the man I helped was letting his attitude about running of gas and having a bad day override his ability to express any gratitude.

What are some advantages of practicing gratitude instead of attitude in your own life?

Practicing gratitude allows you to create a positive impact in your own life and in the life of others

EPISODE 164Many of you take self-help, personal empowerment, professional development classes and other types of educational classes, that cause you to grow and evolve as a person.

You may also go on retreats during which you gain significant personal, professional and spiritual insights.

Such classes are almost always taken in a group environment where you feel safe, supported, excited and eager to apply what you have learned. Some people actually get addicted to these feelings and just keep taking additional classes on a regular basis, over and over again.

However, when you leave such classes and return to your daily lives, you typically experience an “energetic mood crash” in which start to feel isolated and experience negative emotions such as fear, sadness, anger, etc. or even depression. You make plans to keep in touch with your classmates to support each other and in most instances, you never do.

The key to applying what you have learned in such classes is to “integrate” the positive knowledge, growth and evolution you have experienced into your daily life and into the person you are in that daily life.

After taking such classes how can you integrate your knowledge, growth and evolution into your life?

Use the 3-R’s approach.

Integration using the 3-R’s approach creates self-awareness, a feeling of wholeness, and expands your consciousness to create a positive impact in your life.

EPISDOE 160

I never know where the inspiration for my next blog post and podcast will come from.

Let me share another true story with you.

I was reading an article about television shows done in the 1960’s.

One of the TV shows mentioned in the article was “I Dream of Jeannie.”

In this sitcom, an astronaut is stranded on a beach on a deserted island after a failed space flight and finds a fancy bottle.

He opens the bottle and finds a female genie named “Jeannie” trapped inside.

He frees her from the prison that was her bottle.

Jeannie uses her personal “magic” throughout the show to grow and evolve into her true “authentic self."

Have you trapped yourself inside an "energetic bottle" in your own life that is keeping you trapped from using your own "magic" and growing and evolving into your own true "authentic self?"

EPISODE 159

According to the Marathon Handbook only about 0.17% of people worldwide have finished a marathon (i.e., the 26.2 mile distance).

The Marathon Handbook estimates only about 1.3 million people out of the world population of about 7.93 billion people on the earth have successfully finished a marathon.

Are you one of the 1.3 million who have successfully finished a marathon?  If so, you are in a very elite category.

It is also estimated that about 1% of all people who attempt to run a marathon race fail to successfully finish the race.

I am a runner. I have successfully completed marathons in Chicago (multiple times), New York, Los Angeles and other cities.

So I am one of those people who are this very elite category of 0.17% on the earth.

I have also have had bad races where I did not finish a marathon in Chicago, Milwaukee and other cities.

So I am also one of those people in the 1% failure category as well.

Even if you are not a runner and how no desire to run a marathon if you are, there are many situations, events and circumstances in your life which are hard, take a lot of time and include a large risk of failure to successfully finish.

What can you do to be one of the small percentage of people who overcome physical and psychological challenges and risk failure to successfully complete an important activity?

Use the saying “I, CAN.”

Using the saying “I, CAN” allows you to successfully complete a challenging, risky activity and create a positive impact in your life.

I CAN. How about you?

EPISODE 158

Have you ever helped someone with the best intentions and have the situation turn out as a big disaster?  Did your helpful acts have long lasting negative effects?  Did your actions enable another person not to accept responsibility for their own actions?

Let me tell you another true story...

So how do you help someone facing adversity or a challenging situation starting with the best intentions, so that it does not become a big disaster, does not have long lasting negative effects, or allows someone to avoid taking responsibility for their own actions? Do you not set proper boundaries to enable the behavior of someone facing adversity?

Use the modified STAR technique. (Fair Use - Educational Purposes).

The modified STAR technique is Situation, Truth, Action, Result.

Using the modified STAR technique and setting proper boundaries allows you to assist others and make a positive impact in their lives without becoming an enabler.

EPISODE 157

How many layers of lower vibrational energy are you carrying around with you that have become your life story?  If you had to describe your energy, would you say it is shiny or dull?

For those of you who have been reading my blog and listening to my podcasts, you know I previously worked as a janitor in a bar.

I also previously worked as a janitor at a grade school.  I recently did a post and podcast on one of my experiences working as a janitor at the grade school.  Click here to read that blog post.  Here is another actual true experience from working that janitorial job.

During the summer one of the biggest projects we needed to complete was to remove the wax from all the tile floors in the classrooms and in the hallways.  To remove the wax from the classrooms, we moved out all the desks, chairs, books, etc. from the classrooms.  We then used a wax stripper to remove the old wax.

By the end of school year, the old wax on the file floors in all the classrooms had a dull luster and included many scratches and gouges from the daily use during the school year by the students.

After we stripped the old wax, we applied four coats of new wax to the tile floors.  After each coat of wax applied, it was buffed with a rotary buffer.  The surface of a coat of wax is soft, so buffing it makes it stronger and less subject to scratching and gouging.

Buffing the newly waxed surface with a rotary buffer also gives the wax a “shiny luster.”

Negative emotions, such as fear, guilt, anger, sorrow, sadness, grief, being a victim, etc. associated with these negative experiences have caused your energy to have a “dull luster.”

How can you strip away the many old layers of lower vibrational energy, add new layers of higher vibrational energy, and return your energy of your story to a shiny luster?

Applying new layers to your story with positive emotions and positive actions allows you to make a positive impact in your own life and the life of others who see you as your story.

EPISODE 156

Have you ever had an intuitive insight to create something new or do something and did not act upon the intuitive insight you received?  What prevented you from taking action to bring your intuitive insight into a physical reality?

Let me share another true story with you.

My dad passed away in 2011.

My dad was a carpenter by trade and one of his hobbies was to make original folk art wood carvings to express his very own creativity.  He liked to carve birds and horses.  He would display some of the creations on the walls of his own house and give others away as gifts to his friends.

My dad was working on a wood working project right before he died. It was partially finished bird. It was his intuitive creative vision of a bald eagle.

My dad was working on this eagle when he got sick, went into the hospital, transferred to hospice and then passed away. My dad’s time on this earth expired before he was able to finish this project.

What can you learn from my dad’s last unfinished project that he started based on his own intuitive insights to create a positive impact in your own life before your time may run out?

Using your own intuition and understanding the duality of your energy in your body and the duality of the non-physical and physical worlds will allow you to physically manifest things into your existence and create a positive impact in your life.

Do not let your own time run out before you do.

EPISODE 155

I previously did another blog post and podcast about some of the philosophies of the legendary football coach of the Green Bay Packers in the 1960’s, Vice Lombardi.

There is a series entitled “A Football Life” on the NFL network on cable television.

In part one, in an episode entitled “Lombardi Saves the Franchise” there is an interview with the NFL Hall of Fame football player, Jerry Kramer.

Jerry Kramer played the guard position on offensive line for the Green Bay Packers teams in the 1960’s. Jerry was sharing on the show how when he was being yelled at by Coach Lombardi for doing something incorrectly in practice or a game he would frequently be “checking his shoeshine.”

In other words, Jerry had has head down and was looking at his feet because he was feeling discouraged,. He had lost his confidence and enthusiasm because he was being yelled at so often.  He was being yelled at so often, he was sure he was going to be cut from the team and was wondering what he was going to do with the rest of his life.

I have a friend Kimo Mahikoa, from Kauai, Hawaii.

Kimo told me one time during a class I was taking on Kauai that if you are feeling down for any reason, you will always start to feel better if you “check your sunshine.”

When you are feeling discouraged, ask yourself are you “checking your sunshine or your shoeshine?”

Stephen Lesavich, PhD

How do you check your sunshine instead of your shoeshine?

Checking your sunshine instead of your shoeshine allows you to create a positive impact in your life and the life of others.

EPISODE 147The health club I belong to has an elite junior volleyball program.

One thing I noticed is that a majority of the volleyball players are female, high-school age players that all look the same. They are all tall, about 5’8″ to 5’10”, thin, all have shoulder length hair, tied up in pony tails. They all are wearing the same volleyball club uniforms, so they all look very similar, almost identical. It is very difficult with just a casual observation to tell any of the players apart.

To me, the volleyball players reminded me of box of pencils,

Volleyball pencils.

Of course there were also other athletes on the volleyball court. Athletes who were taller, shorter and had different body types (e.g., thicker, thinner, etc.) than the other athletes on the volleyball court. These athletes were the “outliers.”

Malcom Gladwell, in his book, Outliers, explains why “outliers” are some of the most successful people in the world.

So how can you become a successful outlier? Try reprogramming your subconscious.

Reprogramming your subconscious to become an outlier allows you to make a positive impact in your own life helps you co-create the life you truly desire.

A “flame” is the visible part of a fire. It gives light and heat.  The color and temperature of a flame depend on the type of fuel that is used to make the fire. A blue or white flame is often very hot, while a red, orange, or yellow flame, is less hot.

What I mean by a “flame” is not necessarily an actual flame from an actual fire, but an “energetic flame.”  Remember everything in our reality is energy that is constantly moving and changing.

Do you are ever feel like you are just going around in circles in your life? What patterns are you repeating to give you the illusion you are traveling around in a circle?

Let me share with you another true story.

As you may know by reading my blog posts and listening to my podcasts, that I have worked as a janitor in a bar. I also worked as a janitor at a grade school which included the grades of kindergarten through six grade.

During the summer months, one of the big tasks at the grade school was to re-paint all the lines on the playground. The playground included numerous hop-scotch outlines, circle outlines for dodge ball, tag, duck, duck, goose and other games, and outlines for several basketball courts.

Each day for a couple of weeks I would carefully paint the lines on the circles with yellow paint. Each day, several times a day, I would pick a starting point with my paint roller on a circle and follow a circular path around the circle, ending up where I started. I was using gallons and gallons of paint and traveling miles the painting lines going nowhere. I always ending up back where I started on the circle.

How can you change the repetitive patterns and not travel around in circles in your own life?

Changing your point of view and your actions to remove or alter repetitive patterns allows you to make a positive impact in your own life and not travel around in circles.

Episode 134

I recently did a blog post and podcast about following the updrafts in your life.

Returning from a recent trip to Los Angeles, I was sitting in a window seat overlooking the wing of the airplane on my way back to Chicago. The forces operating on the wing of the airplane made me think about updrafts and lift.

The difference in pressure between the bottom surface and top surface of the wing results in more pressure at the bottom and less pressure at the top, pushing the wing upward, creating lift.

So how can you create lift in your own life?

Creating lift in your own life will help you initiate and maintain the momentum of change and help you build a new reality with confidence and enthusiasm for yourself in which you thrive.

A new reality in which you can make a positive impact on yourself and others.

Episode 132

Let me tell you two more true stories about “lending a hand” to others.

When I was about ten years old, my next step neighbor’s husband passed away very suddenly.

At that point my brother and I took over the grass cutting and snow blowing responsibilities for our neighbor who became a single mom with four children.

When I was a software engineer at AT&T Bell Laboratories in Naperville, Illinois, I was part of the Bell Labs Community Outreach program.

One of my volunteer assignments to assist the high school students at Simeon Career Academy High School on the south side in the city of Chicago with learning computer programming.

My colleagues and I lent a hand to the students who desired to try to better themselves and give them other opportunities to make it out of their neighborhood and into a high-tech major in college or a technical school.

In both instances, lending a hand resulted in a positive impact for my next door neighbor and students at Simeon Career Academy High School.

How can “lending a hand” make a difference in your life?

Lending a hand will always create a positive impact in your own life and the lives of others you are interacting with.

I am still “lending a hand” whenever I can. How about you?

Let me tell you another true story.

In addition to being a life coach, I am an athletic coach. I hold a US National Level One coaching license from USA Track and Field.

When my daughter was in middle school, I was the coach for both the girls and boys cross country team.

Cross countryis a running sport in which individuals run races on open-air courses in parks, fields and forested areas.

Virtually all cross country courses include a white line throughout the whole course for the runners to follow.

On a Sunday, I went out with the high school cross country coach and we laid out a 1.5 mile course in the city park as we were hosting a very first middle school invitational.

We marked a 1.5 mile course with white paint directly on the grass in the park.

The next Monday, the grass cutting crew cut the grass and totally erased our 1.5 mile course. I was not told about grass being cut until about an hour before our very first invitational was going to start.

I had to think fast and I used the Improvise, Adapt and Overcome framework and worked the problem to come up with a solution in a few minutes before all the buses started arriving with the middle school cross country teams.

How did I use the Improvise, Adapt and Overcome framework to come up with a solution to the disappearing white line?

Using the Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome framework, will help you create a positive impact in your own life any time you are facing an adverse event.

Nicola Tesla (b. 1856, d. 1943), was one of the most influential and brilliant scientists of all time.

Tesla invented and developed alternating current (AC) transmission and generation technologies for electricity.

Anytime you plug a cord into a wall socket, you are using technology developed by Tesla.

“If you knew the magnificence of the numbers 3, 6 and 9, you would have a KEY to the Universe.” NICOLA TESLA

According to Tesla, the numbers 3, 6, 9, form a “magical” code that represents and controls in part, how the Universe actually works.

Tesla also believed the numbers 3, 6, 9 represent a “vector” from the third dimension where we live, into fourth dimension and higher dimensions of the energetic realms.

The 3,6,9 vector is called a “flux field” of energy. A flux field is a flow of energy along pre-determined energy lines.

The 369 manifestation method is attributed to Nicola Tesla and is based on the Law of Attraction.

I am offering a Free 3 Lesson Mini-Course on 369 Manifesting available on Podia.com

I am also a Free E-book on 369 Manifesting that you can download immediately from this site.

What are the steps for 369 manifesting?

Let the Universe work its magic for you and bring what you desire out of the energetic realms back to you the physical realm based on the numbers 3,6,9.

Using the 369 manifesting method will help you create a positive impact in your own life and manifest the people, events and circumstances you truly desire.

I was Los Angeles again recently to meet with the CEO of a tech company that is one of the clients of my law firm.

After the meeting I went out to dinner with a friend of mine who is a Hollywood actress.

As he personally handed us menus, he observed us and asked if could he prepare a special meal for each of us based on what he saw “in the present moment.” The special meal was not anything on the menu.

Spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle, who wrote the book, Power of Now (New World Library, 1999), says that only through living in “the present moment” do you have access to the power of life itself, the power of the Divine, the power of the Creator.

Esther and Jerry Hicks, who wrote the book, Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent (Hay House, 2006), say that living in the present moment is the point of “deliberate creation” from which you manifest all experiences moving forward. If you don’t live in the present moment, you live your life by “default creation” where you simply observe and respond to what is happening to you moment-by-moment.

“Living the in present moment can create magical experiences in your life.

Stephen Lesavich, PhD

How can you stay “in the present moment” in your own life?

Living in the present moment allows you to create a positive impact in your own life and co-create the life you truly desire.

I am living the present moment. How about you?

Let me share another true story with you.

I was in Florida recently to attend the wedding of a friend.

I was dealing with a client matter and it triggered an anger response in me.

I don’t get angry very often, so it was an unusual energetic state for me.

So what do you think I attracted? That is correct, angry people.

The Law of Attraction, simply stated, is “like-attracts-like.”

I know many of you think the Law of Attraction is either not a real thing or something only those involved in the “woo-woo” world believe in. However, it is a real thing.

Everything in the world is energy and energy based. For example, when you are feeling angry, you attract angry people and situations that make you angry.

When you are feeling angry or some other negative emotion, how do you shift your own energy?

Do it with the acronym, ACT, A-C-T.

Shifting your emotions and energy with ACT, allows you to create positive impacts in your own life.

Emotions are defined as “bodily reactions that are activated through neurotransmitters and hormones released by the brain.”

Feelings are defined as “a conscious experience or conscious state of emotional reactions.”

The difference between emotions and feelings is very confusing, but also very important.

Feelings are very important if you are trying to manifest something into your life.

If you are interested in manifesting, consider the 369 manifesting method based on the work of Nicola Tesla.

I have created a free mini-course available to teach you the basics of the 369 manifesting method.

https://coachlesavich.podia.com/369-manifestation-3-day

I have also created a 369 Manifesting Accelerator Master Course available for purchase if you desire to take your 369 manifesting practice to the next level.

https://coachlesavich.podia.com/369-manifestation-master-course

I have also created an e-book entitled: “The Ultimate Guide to 369 Manifesting” available for purchase that includes include 6 lessons over 91 pages.

https://coachlesavich.podia.com/e-book-the-ultimate-guide-to-369-manifesting

When you are faced with a person, situation or event in your life, you create one or more emotions, based on your current attitudes, beliefs and physical perceptions.

The emotions that you create are a complex experience of behavior, subconsciousness and physical sensations you receive from your 5 senses of the sight, sound, touch, smell and taste.

David R. Hawkins, MD, PhD in his book, Power vs. Force, originally published in 1994, examined the energetic frequency levels of human consciousness as they pertain to a variety of different human emotions. He used kinesiological muscle testing to determine energetic frequencies in Hertz (i.e., cycles per second) of lower vibrational human emotions (e.g., fear, guilt, shame, etc.) and higher vibrational human emotions (e.g., courage, joy, love, etc.).

Each human emotion includes a unique energy, frequency and vibration.

Feelings form when your brain assigns a meaning to the emotional experience that you are having and integrates and acts upon emotional data it is receiving into a conscious thought.

Feelings are completely conscious while emotions are not.

For example, you can “feel” happy, sad, fearful, loving, etc. which are based on the human emotions of happiness, sadness, fear, love, etc.

Each human feeling also has a unique, energy, frequency and vibration.

When you manifest things into your life, it is based on the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction simply stated is “like-attracts-like.”

According to Law of Attraction expert, Esther Hicks, when you want to manifest something into your life you must “believe it before you see it” instead of having to “see it before you believe it.

How “do believe it before you see it?” You do it with your feelings.

Believing it before you see it, when you are manifesting allows you to create a positive impact and successfully manifest the objects your desire into your life.

“If you knew the magnificence of the numbers 3, 6 and 9, you would have a KEY to the Universe.”

Nicola Tesla

According to Tesla, The numbers 3, 6, 9, form a code that represents and controls in part, how the Universe actually works.

Tesla also believed the numbers 3, 6, 9 represent a vector from the third dimension where we live into fourth dimension and higher dimensions of the energetic realms.

The 369 manifestation method is attributed to Nicola Tesla and is based on the Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction, simply stated is “Like-Attracts-Like.” Whatever you send out as an energetic frequency and vibration is what you attract back into your life. The Law of Attraction is always working on you and for you, whether your realize it or not or like it or not.

The 369 manifestation method is a way to supercharge the Law of Attraction to work for you.

What are the steps for 369 manifesting?

Using the 369 manifesting method will help you create a positive impact in your own life and manifest the people, events and circumstances you truly desire.

If you are interesting in trying 369 manifesting in your own life, I am offering a free mini-course on the 369 manifestation method. Click Here for additional details on how to sign up. https://369threeday.coachslclasses.com

Let me tell you another true story.

As I was driving home a couple of days ago from having dinner with some friends I was passing by the local airport close to where I live.

There was a plane landing and the Approach Lighting System (ALS) was active.

An Approach Lighting System (ALS) is a lighting system installed on the approach end of an airport runway and consists of a series of light bars, strobe lights, or a combination of the two, that extends outward from the runway end. The ALS helps a pilot locate and land on a runway.

Watching the plane follow the ALS to the runway made me think about something. I have a pilot license for fixed wing aircraft (i.e., airplanes, but not helicopters).

My designation is private pilot, single engine, land, with instrument training. What this means is that I can legally fly a plane with one engine and take off and touch down on land. Taking off and touching down on water requires a totally different certification.

Most of my flying was under Visual Flight Rules (VFR). Visual Flight Rules (VFR) are a set of regulations under which a pilot operates an aircraft in weather conditions generally clear enough to allow the pilot to visually see where the aircraft is going (i.e., not obstructed by clouds, fog, etc.).

The VFR pilot is required to “see and avoid” obstacles and other aircraft.

When operation of an aircraft under VFR is not safe, because the visual cues outside the aircraft are obscured by weather, Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) must be used instead.

I also did some of my flying under Instrument Flight Rules (IFR).

Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) are a set of rules and regulations established to govern flight under conditions in which flight by outside visual reference is not safe because the pilot cannot visually see anything (i.e., obstructed by clouds, fog, etc.).

IFR flight depends upon flying by reference to instruments in the airplane cockpit and navigation is accomplished by reference to electronic signals instead of by visual references under VFR.

We live in a three-dimensional (3D) world in which we rely on our 5 senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.

Just like in IFR flight, in any stressful situation you are facing relying solely on your 5 senses can produce illusions and disorientation.

For example, if you are feeling fearful, in many instances your feelings of fear are based on illusions as one acronym for FEAR, is False Evidence Appearing Real.

If the people, circumstances or events in your life are causing you to fly under IFR conditions how can you avoid illusions and disorientation to touch down somewhere other at your desired end point?

When you are facing IFR conditions in your life, relying on your intuition, adjusting your attitude and trusting will help you create a positive impact in your own life and allow you to touch down at your desired location co-creating a life you truly desire.

According to an article by Debra Shields on PubMed, the national online library of medicine, all humans have a Human Energy Field (HEF).

According to Ms. Shields, the HEF is defined as “A luminous field of energy that comprises a person, extends beyond the physical body, and is in a continuous mutual process with the environmental energy field. It is a vital energy that is a continuous whole and is recognized by its unique pattern; it is dynamic, creative, nonlinear, unpredictable, and flows in lower and higher frequencies. The balanced HEF is characterized by flow, rhythm, symmetry, and gentle vibration.”

The HEF is also called the “auric field,” “luminous energy field,” “light body,” and other names.

If the flow, rhythm, symmetry and vibration of your HEF is disrupted and includes stuck energy, you typically will have a short attentions span, have trouble sleeping, have trouble focusing, be emotional for no reason, have trouble interacting with friends and family, etc.

If the flow, rhythm, symmetry and vibration of your HEF is disrupted in a significant way, you can even develop a physical disease.

Everything in the world is composed of energy, which is constantly in motion.

All energy has a vibrational frequency, how fast the energy is moving. Even objects that appear to be solid and stationary, like rocks and trees, are in fact vibrating, oscillating, resonating, at various vibrational frequencies. All such energy also directly affects your HEF.

The flow, rhythm, symmetry and vibration of your HEF can be disrupted in two major ways.

The first is having “energetic gunk” added to your HEF. The second is having “energetic holes” created in your HEF.

How can you get rid of “energetic gunk” and close the “energetic holes” in your energetic field?

Taking care of your own HEF allows you to create a positive impact in your own life.

“Time” is a defined as “an indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.”

“The only reason for time is so that everything doesn’t happen at once.”

Albert Einstein

You as a human being experience time on a series of personal timelines as a linear progression of events in a three-dimensional (3D) world you live in.

A personal “timeline” is defined as “a linear flow of experiences that include past events you remember, a current present state, and one or more possible future events yet to occur.”

Everything in the Universe is made of energy that is constantly moving with its own unique vibration and frequency.

On your personal timeline, time does not actually exist. The past, present, andfutureall occur at a present moment energy state.

You never directly experience the past or the future at your present moment energy state.

Instead at your present moment energy state, you remember your past energy states and you imagine your probable future energy states.

At your present moment energy state, thoughts from “the past” share a distinct slower and lower vibration and frequency.

At your present moment energy state, thoughts about the “future” share a distinct by different higher and faster vibration and frequency.

In another blog post I wrote recently, I talked about a recent article where scientists have hypothesized that “Energy Lines” are likely the building blocks of the Universe instead of particles or waves.

According to that article, “energy” is made up of “lines” that fill up a region of space and time, flowing into and out of that region, never beginning, never-ending.

It is thought these “energy lines” can be used to accurately make predictions about the Universe at the largest and tiniest scales.

Those of you who follow a non-spiritual, 3rd Dimension (3D) belief system, you believe you have only one timeline or energy line assigned at birth you can follow.

On such a timeline the past is fixed and cannot be changed, the present is your present moment energy state where you are having your current experiences observed by your five senses of sight, sound, touch, smell and taste, and your future is an open, but limited to a set of possible experiences that are defined and limited by your current belief systems and your past and present experiences.

For those of you who follow a spiritual, higher-dimensional (e.g., 4D, 5D, 6D, etc.), belief system, you believe you have an infinite number of timelines or energy lines you can follow.

You believe the past and future are both open sets of probabilities of energy lines to follow from the infinite field of possibilities of energy lines that you select from your present moment energy state using your first sense, your intuition. You believe you can change a current timeline, jump to another point on a current timeline, jump to a new timeline, etc. by changing your own vibration and frequency to match that of a new timeline or a new point on an existing timeline, etc.

You believe you can visit and change the past bymatching its slower and lower vibrational frequencies and you can visit all probable futures from the infinite number of possible futures by matching their faster and higher vibrational frequencies.

Therefore, the timeline, the energy line you are currently operating on in your life is not actually fixed and can be dynamically adjusted.

How can you identify, understand and change the energy line you are currently operating on to co-create the life you truly desire?

Changing the energy line you are currently operating on will help you create a positive impact in your own life and allow you to become truly present in it.

There is a saying attributed to the U.S. Navy Seals (and possibly other branches of the military) when you are facing any kind of adversity, you should focus on a “three-foot world.

In this context, your “three-foot world” is an area three-feet around you in every direction. This three-foot space provides you with a small area of interest in which you can directly control, affect, influence or touch.

You may be feeling anxious, sad, depressed, fearful or other negative emotions generated by a person, situation or event in your life that is causing the adversity.

Expressing such negative emotions have no effect on and do nothing to eliminate the adversity or change the person, situation or event in your life that triggered the negative emotions outside of your three-foot world.

To find an appropriate solution to any kind of adversity, you need to first find a solution within your three-foot world. You empower yourself by focusing on what you can do from within your three-foot world and not on what you can’t or might not be able to do, outside your three-foot world.

Always focusing first on your three-foot world allows you to create empowered solutions to overcome any adversity you are facing your life.

Although living in a three-foot world is very empowering and can help you overcome any adversity you are facing in your life, it can also be very limiting.

How can you enhance the advantages of operating in your three-foot world to effectively address people, events and situations that exist outside your three-foot world?

Operating both inside of and outside of your three-foot world based on intuitive insights you have collected for yourself helps you to create a positive impact in your own life.

There is a chapter in the book, Zen in the Martial Arts, by Joe Hyams, called “Lengthen Your Line.”

In this chapter, Joe Hyams tells a story about when he was a new student of martial arts master, Ed Parker.

Ed Parker is a famous Kempo Karate instructor who students included Elvis Presley and many other celebrities.

According to the story, Hyams was a new student and was sparring with an experienced student and could not score any points. Hyams became very frustrated.

Ed Parker took Hyams aside and drew 2 lines on the floor with chalk. The first line was longer and represented the more experienced student. The second line was shorter and represented Hyams.

Master Parker asked Hyams how he could make the first line representing the more experienced shorter? Hyams gave several solutions attacking the skills of the more experienced student including one in which he proposed cutting the longer line into shorter pieces.

Master Parker then responded, “It’s always better to improve and strengthen your own line or knowledge than to try to cut your opponent’s line.”

Master Parker suggested Hyams spend time developing his own knowledge, skills and ability to “lengthen his own line” to match that of the more experienced students.

Joe Hyams situation is a very common situation for students of all levels in the martial arts and in life.

You do not have to be student of the martial arts to use the wisdom of this lesson.

How can you apply the lesson of “lengthening your line” in your own life?

Lengthening your own line is a good way to make a positive impact in your own life.

Let me share another true story with you.

As I have shared with you a number of times already, for over a decade I had a law office in downtown Chicago, IL on S. LaSalle street.

For those of you who do not know Chicago, LaSalle Street is a street similar to Wall Street in New York city, that runs through what is considered to be a portion of Chicago’s financial district and the Chicago Loop.

Late one Friday afternoon about 2:00 pm, the lawyer I shared office space with, Joseph Leonardi, came into my office and said, “Let’s go get a piece of pie.”

It had been a rough couple of weeks for both of us. Joseph was a litigator and was in the middle of a big trial and I was in the middle of the multiple transactional matters with very short deadlines.

So it was a good time for both of us to take a break and do something different and fun.

I immediately said, YES! From my point of view, any day that includes eating a piece of pie, is a good day.

“Pie is one of my favorite food groups.”

Stephen Lesavich, PhD

So Joseph and I went on a quest to find a piece of pie. As we worked in downtown Chicago, there were not many bakeries anywhere close to our office. We had to travel away from downtown into the various neighborhoods of Chicago to find a bakery where we could actually buy a pie.

We did a quick search on the Internet and made a list of the nearest neighborhood bakeries that sold pies on a regular basis and hailed a cab in front of our building on LaSalle Street to begin our pie quest.

When we arrived at the first bakery, the clerk indicated that she had just sold the last available pie a few minutes before we arrived. We hopped back into the cab and went to the next bakery on the list. It was the same result. All the pies were sold out earlier in the day. We hopped back into the cab and went to the next bakery on the list. Again no pies. We repeated these actions many times until we visited all the bakeries on our list.

After spending $100+ on cab fare, we were dropped off back at our office, sad, dejected and disappointed. No pie.

Our quest for a piece of pie was in part “titling at windmills,” a phrase found in the early 17th century novel, Don Quixote, by the author, Miguel de Cervantes.

One definition of titling at windmills is “to use time and energy to attack a problem that is not actually important or may not even be real.”

For Joseph and I, the problem we attacked on that Friday afternoon, was the lack of an easily accessible and available piece of pie near our office in Chicago. A problem that was both important and real to us.

How can you add some joy and fun by “tilting at windmills” in your own life?

Tilting at windmills every now and then is a way to experience fun and joy and make a positive impact in your own life.

Unfortunately, my friend and colleague Joseph Leonardi passed away suddenly on October 20, 2021. I met Joseph when I was 12 years old and in Jr. High. He was a lifelong friend.

Joseph, I will remember you and our quest for pie that Friday afternoon and chuckle everytime time I enjoy a piece of pie the rest of my life. Thank you for creating that memory with me.

I will miss you my friend. Rest in Peace.

When you are applying self-help techniques to initiate positive change in your life, they are many times you when you miss a day, because you are too busy, you are in a bad mood, in a low energy state, you are tired, etc.

On such days you don’t follow through on something or you engage in one or more actions that are detrimental to what you are trying to achieve.

Research has shown that about 95% of all people who try to stick to a diet fail, about 92% of all people who set a new year’s resolution fail and about 90% of all people who try to manifest something applying Law of Attraction or other spiritual techniques, fail.

When you are doing anything to initiate positive change in your life, remember it is the progress you make, not chasing perfection, that will actually initiate change you desire.

Perfection is defined as “a condition, state, or quality of being free from all flaws or defects.”

In contrast, progress is defined as “something happening or developing gradually or in stages; proceeding step by step.”

Many highly successful and demanding people have realized that achieving perfection is not possible.

One research study found that it took participants an average of about 60 days of repeatedly performing focused actions to create a new behavior pattern before the new behavior pattern became “automatic” in the participants’ lives.

This same research study also concluded that missing a day or two, here and there, of not performing the new behavior pattern and starting over again did not hinder the new behavior pattern creation process at all.

Be aware, that initiating positive change in your life is not a “linear” process. Instead it is an irregular process where setbacks occur and a process where you have to start over again.

So how do you initiate positive change in your life using progress instead of chasing perfection?

Practicing progress not perfection allows you to make a positive impact and initiate positive change into your own life.

Let me tell you another true story. I grew up along the western shore of Lake Michigan in southeast Wisconsin. When I was a small child, my parents used to take me down to a local beach to swim in Lake Michigan during the summertime.

One summer day, when I was a small child of about five years old, I was playing in waist deep water with my back toward the waves.

A large rouge wave rolled in, hit me and knocked me over. I swallowed a large mouthful of water was immediately disoriented, turned upside down and pushed under the water. I was struggling to come back to the surface.

I may have actually drowned if my dad did not reach down into the water and pull me back up to the surface.

Being knocked down by a rouge as a child was very dangerous.

As an adult, I was on vacation on the Hawaiian island of Maui, swimming in the Pacific Ocean. I was once again in waste deep in the water with my back turned toward the waves.

Again, a rouge wave hit me and knocked me over. I was ground into the sandy bottom and moved around with great force. Enough force to cause serious injury. I felt like I was inside a washing machine filled with sand.

As I am a good swimmer and an experienced scuba diver with several certifications, I was not in any real danger of drowning. I eventually popped back up to the surface.

However, there was no place on my body that escaped being coated with sand, from my head down to my toes.

Being knocked over by a rouge wave as an adult was very uncomfortable and could have also been dangerous if I did not know how to swim.

Turning your back to waves on a body of water reminded me of the act of procrastination.

When you procrastinate, you turn your back on something you need to do.

Procrastination is defined as “the action of unnecessarily and voluntarily delaying or postponing something, or not doing it at all, despite knowing that there will be negative consequences for doing so.”

Procrastination results in negative consequences like turning your back on the waves in a large body of water and getting wiped out by waves of consquences caused by your inactions.

As I have discussed many times, everything in the world is composed of energy that is vibrating, oscillating and resonating, at various vibrational frequencies.

Procrastination is a negative, constricting action, based on a low, slow, dense vibrational frequency of lack. Procrastionation is turning your back so you do not have to deal with a person, situation or event in your life.

Why do you procrastinate?

You procrastinate because you feel something you need to actually accomplish is difficult, fearful, stressful, unpleasant, etc.

According to Dr. Tim Pychyl and other physiological researchers, procrastination NOT a time management issue. Procrastination is instead a an emotional management issue.

Procrastination is actually a strategy you use to cope with negative emotions by projecting what interacting with a person, situation or event will actually feel like to you a some instance in time in the future.

Get additional insights on procrastination from the Out There on the Edge of Everything® Podcast.

How do you overcome procrastination in your own life?

Not turning your back to the waves allows you to make a positive impact in your own life and avoid being hit by the rouge waves of procrastination.

Many of your strongest reactions to people in your own environment are a direct result of your own emotional triggers.

According to healthline.com, an emotional trigger “is anything including memories, experiences, or events that sparks an intense emotional reaction, regardless of your current mood.”

Emotional triggers include thoughts, feelings, events, people, opinions, situations, or environmental situations such as sights, smells or sounds that invoke such an intense emotional response in you.

I was recently having a discussion with Ms. Christine Lopez, the CEO of Mindful Rise, a new social media marketing company in the Los Angeles metro area.

We were discussing why we both appear to cause emotional triggers in certain people we interact with.

What causes such emotional triggers in you when you interact with certain people in your own life?

There are typically two reasons. The first reason is the energy of the person you are interacting with, is causing an emotional trigger in you. The second reason is you are projecting your own energy onto that person, which causes an emotional trigger in you.

Virtually all of your emotional triggers include at their lowest level a base vibrational frequency of fear.

So how do you avoid being triggered emotionally by a person in your own life?

Recognizing, acknowledging and taking responsibility for your own emotional triggers allows you to create a positive impact in your own life and co-create the life you truly desire.

Everything in the Universe is made of energy that is constantly moving.

We all exist in a collective energy, a grid of energy that includes our shared consciousness that directly affects everything we observe with our five senses of sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste.

The collective energy includes such things family, religious, spiritual, cultural, political, govermental and other types of collective energy based on the vibration of fear.

The vibrational frequency of fear is used by governments, politicians, the media, religions and corporations selling products, to dominate, control and manipulate you.

Fear makes you feel, helpless, hopeless, anxious and depressed. Fear is a vibration that causes division and separation between you and others.

How can you live your life without being affected by the collective energy of fear?

Practice the 3 C’s.

Operating outside of the collective energy of fear allows you to create a positive impact in your own life and those people you are connected to.

Discernment and judgement are two words that are commonly misunderstood.

These two words are often used interchangeably, but they have very different meanings and very different energy when the applied and used in your life.

Discernment is defined as “a perception in the absence of judgment with a view to obtaining spiritual guidance and understanding.”

In contrast, Judgement is defined as “a process of forming a personal opinion or evaluation or something.

How can you apply discernment instead of judgement in your life to situations, events or people in your life?

Applying discernment instead of judgement helps you to attract connected, supportive and collaborative situations, events and people to make a positive impact in your life and in the life of others.

Are you aware that there are 1440 minutes in a 24 hour day (24 hours x 60 minutes/hour = 1440 minutes)?

Most people are awake and conscious for about 12 hours each day. Many of you are awake and conscious for more than 12 hours each day as you sleep 8 hours or less.

However, let us use a 12 hour day in this discussion.

There are 720 minutes in a 12 hour day (12 hours x 60 minutes/hour = 720 minutes).

If you make one decision a minute in a 12 hour day, you can make 720 new decisions about your life each day.

If the individual digits in number 720 are added up (7+2+0 = 9), the number 9 is obtained.

In numerology, the number 9 also represents the finality of something and the start of something new.

Spiritually, the number 9 is associated with spiritual enlightenment and personal fulfilment.

Will you commit to making just 9 positive decisions every day?

Making just 9 positive decisions every day will change the trajectory of your life.

Making 9 daily decisions based on positive declarations puts you in a state of empowerment and allows you to make a positive impact in your own life.

I am taking the opportunity to make at least 9 of the 720 possible decisions I can make each day based on positive declarations and positive emotions to empower myself.

How about you?

This is 75th episode of my podcast, Out There on the Edge of Everything®.

Photo by Marcel Eberle on Unsplash There are several different ways to look at the concept of power and force.

Neville Goddard, a self-help author, who worked in the early and middle 1900’s examined co-creating your own life using the Power of your intuition and your imagination. The power of the Divine instead of with physical or mental forces.

David R. Hawkins, MD, PhD in his book, Power vs. Force, published in 1995, examined the energetic frequency levels of human consciousness as they pertain to a variety of different human emotions. He used kinesiological muscle testing to determine the energetic frequencies of lower vibrational human emotions (e.g., fear, guilt, shame, etc.) associated with force and higher vibrational human emotions (e.g., courage, joy, love, etc.) associated with power.

Let’s take a look at the concept of power and force from the level of your intuition, the level Neville Goddard talked about.

How do you want to live your life? With Power or Force?

Using your power in instead of your force can help you create a positive impact in your life and co-create a life you truly desire.

I am using my power instead of force in my life. How about you?

Do you perceive your own journey through life on your own soul path as a linear path, or a path along a straight line? Do you believe you move forward from point A to point B, to point C, etc. through time from birth to death experiencing the highs and lows of your soul growth lessons along the way?

Do you know your journey through life on your own soul path is actually on an upward spiral shaped path? It is similar to a path followed by walking up on a spiral staircase.

A “spiral” is defined as “a continuous and gradually widening upward curve that relates to advancement to higher levels through a series of cyclical movements.”

The spiral is one those universal symbols found in virtually all cultures and religions.

As you face challenges on your own soul path and learn your lessons, you grow and expand your own consciousness. As you do so, you “evolve” and move upwards to new expanded levels of consciousness.

With respect to your soul growth, your “evolution” is how you change, develop and expand into a better, more complex person, and into more advanced states of consciousness.

So your soul growth is actually cyclical. As you follow your spiral soul path upwards, you often re-visit a same or similar situation from a higher vantage point from which you can observe them with a greater clarity. This allows you to make free will decisions to avoid old patterns and situations that no longer serve you.

What are the advantages of viewing your own soul path and your journey through life as being on spiral path so you learn your life lessons and complete “evolutions” instead of “revolutions?”

Completing evolutions instead of revolutions on your own spiral shaped soul path allows you to create a positive impact in your own life and expand your own consciousness.

Have you ever met someone who is truly empowered?

Someone who is 100% comfortable in their own skin, in their own abilities, someone who does not care what other people think of them?

My friend, the late Dr. Linnea Hauge, PhD, was one of those people.

Linnea was hired to teach experienced doctors and surgeons in the Department of Surgery how to be better, more effective teachers and mentors to new medical students. The Rush Medical College was trying to modernize and change of the culture of how new medical students were taught surgical medicine.

Since she was new, she was to be one of the first people introduced that morning to the faculty and the new medical students. On the first slide of the power point presentation for her introduction was her name:

Dr. Linnea Hague, MD

The mistake in her title was a mistake made by the secretarial staff member who just assumed she was an MD and did not know she was a PhD.

When the slide was put up on the screen in the auditorium, the first words out of Linnea’s mouth were:

“Who DEMOTED me?

Who DEMOTED me from PhD to MD?

Dr. Linnea Hague, PhD

I have a PhD and not an MD.”

Dr. Linnea’s work did initiate a change in the department of surgery at Rush Medical College. She served as the Interim Director of the Center of Medical Education and Research at Rush. Linnea made many significant contributions in the field of surgical education before leaving for a new position at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Linnea Hauge, PhD was an empowered woman who initiated positive change in the world. What does is mean to be empowered?

Being empowered means you can create a positive impact for yourself and all the people you come in contact with in your own life.

I miss talking with you and laughing with you, Dr. Linnea Hauge, PhD. Rest in peace, my friend.

When I worked as a professional software engineer for AT&T Bell Laboratories, I was a member of the AT&T corporate running team. At that time, one component of AT&T Bell Laboratories was located in Naperville, Illinois, which is a city about 30 miles south west of the city of Chicago.

We would do at least one track workout each week and meet on the weekends to complete a long distance run.

The AT&T corporate running team would compete just about every weekend in road races and in selected track meets all across the country.

As you can see from the picture above I have run a large number of races over the years and collected a large number of medals for placing in my age group and finishing long races such as 26.2 mile marathons and 13.1 mile half-marathons.

The AT&T running team was very competitive and there were a couple of runners who could run about 4:10 mile. On my best days, I was running about a minute plus slower, or could run about a 5:30 pace per mile at that time.

One spring day the team was racing a short race near our work facility, a distance of 6 kilometers which is about 3.73 miles. There were about 100+ people in the race including members of the AT&T corporate running team.

That particular spring day, magic happened for me. I won the road race. I was the first runner to cross the finish line and was the overall winner. My time was 20:32 which was about a 5:30 per mile pace and I missed the course record by just two seconds.

That spring day everything aligned for me, magic happened and I was of the overall winner of that road race.

Even though several of my teammates could run faster than me. That spring day, my teammates expected me to eventually slow down or give up running the 5:30 pace per mile I ran, but I never did. By the time they realized it, they could not catch up to me.

It was the only time in my life I won a large road race. I have won my age group many times over the years, but that spring day was the only time I was the overall winner in a road race.

Magic” is defined as “a power influencing a course of events by with mysterious or supernatural forces.

To successfully manifest anything into your life you need to apply your own “magic” powers in two places, in the energetic realm (e.g., with meditation, intentions, declarations, visualizations, etc.) and in the physical realm (e.g., with physical actions, etc.).

Did I apply my own magic to manifest winning the road race?

Probably. I had been setting intentions and doing visualizations in the energetic realms to become a better runner.

I also had been training really hard and running very well that year in the physical realm.

When you race, you race against the people who show up that I day. I just happened to want to win the race more than the other 100+ people running the race, including my usually faster teammates.

I am a lifelong runner. I have been running almost every day since I was in junior high. Running is my me-time, my freedom time, my stress management time. Running is a big part of who I am as soul in this lifetime.

I did another blog post and podcast on the concept of Magic and Manifestation. Check them out if you want some additional techniques for using magic to manifest things in your life you truly desire.

The letter M in the word Magic caused me to think about something. The letters, words and numbers we use on a daily basis all have very interesting meanings.

Every letter in the English alphabet has a “spiritual” meaning.

Do you know the powerful spiritual meanings and the numerology behind the letter M?

Using positive words that start with the letter M creates a positive impact in your life. Do you believe in using Magic for Manifesting the life you desire? I do. Both of these words start with the letter M.

Seeing a four leaf clover made think about the concept of “luck” and the “Law of Attraction.”

You are considered “lucky” if you find a four leaf clover in nature because the odds of finding one are about 1 in 10,000. So a four leaf clover is something that is rare.

Odds provide “a measure of the likelihood of success a particular outcome.”

Dictionary.com defines “luck” as “a force of chance that seems to operate for good or bad in a person’s life, as in shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities.”

“Chance” is defined as “a possibility or probability of anything happening.”

A “force” as defined in physics is “something that changes a motion of an object.”

Wikipedia defines “luck” as “the phenomenon and belief that defines the experience of notably positive, negative, or improbable events.”

Wikipedia also states “Force can also be described intuitively as a push or a pull.”

The Roman philosopher Seneca who lived in the first century A.D. is given credit for saying:

“Luck is where opportunity meets preparation.”

Seneca

Does “luck” really exist? Or is “luck” just a component of the Law of Attraction?

Everything in the world is composed of energy that is vibrating, oscillating and resonating, at various vibrational frequencies.

The Law of Attraction, simply stated is “Like-Attracts-Like.” Whatever you send out as an energetic vibrational frequency is what you attract back into your life. The Law of Attraction is always working on you and for you, whether your realize it or like it.

Do you think you are a lucky or an unlucky person?

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.”

Henry Ford

Although I do not like or agree with everything Henry Ford did or said as a person, this quote does apply to the concept of “luck.”

What actions can you take to prepare for “lucky” opportunities and become a “lucky” person in your own life?

Declaring yourself and practicing to be a “lucky” person creates a positive impact in your life. I am a lucky person. How about you?

There are some words that carry very powerful meanings in their original language, but have no direct translation into other languages.

“Saudada” is one of those words.

According to Dictionary.com, Saudada (pronounced sou da da) is a noun, a word in the Portuguese language, with a meaning of “a deep emotional state or melancholic longing for a person or thing that is absent.”

Another meaning that has been associated with Saudada is the “presence of absence.”

The “presence of absence” typically represents an emotional state associated with sadness or grief.

The “presence of absence” includes a longing for something or someone that no longer physically exists in your life.

For example, you may have experienced a death of a loved one, a breakup of relationship, the loss of a job, the loss of a living situation, the loss or a change in a friendship, etc.

Since absence has a presence in your life, it also has an energetic footprint, a vibrational offering that is sent out to the Universe.

The “presence of absence” is a lower vibrational state that is “restrictive” and based on a vibration of “lack.”

The presence of absence, Saudada, is something you will likely experience many times during your lifetime.

How can you effectively deal with the presence of absence, when it occurs in your own life?

Effectively dealing with the presence of absence allows you to make positive impact in your own life and give you the freedom to co-create the life you truly desire.

According to a recent article written by Larry M. Silverberg, Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, North Carolina State University and republished on Interesting Engineering:

Energy lines” may be the building blocks of the Universe.

According to the article, “energy” is made up of “lines” that fill up a region of space and time, flowing into and out of that region, never beginning, never-ending.

It is thought the “energy lines” can be used to accurately make predictions about the Universe at the largest and tiniest scales.

For those of you interested in math and physics, “energy lines” are defined mathematically as “energy fragments” and the mathematical equation, A = -⍺/r, where ⍺ is an intensity and r is a distance function.

Is this recent finding by scientists really anything new?

Most mind-body-spirit practitioners and even most religions have always understood that everything in the Universe is made of energy that is constantly moving.

Prayers, intentions, declarations, affirmations, mantras, chants, etc. are all based on energy and energy lines.”

Stephen Lesavich, PhD

Many intuitive, mediums and others who give people “readings” (i.e., a procedure to discern information through the use of heightened perceptive abilities) will typically tune into “energy lines” that are the “brightest” (i.e., have a largest amount of energy) and represent a prediction at that instant in time, a greatest probability from the set of infinite possibilities, that something is most likely to occur in a given time frame after the reading.

Your Intuition also emanates from the energy lines of a Higher Power and provides you with Divine guidance and Divine intelligence.

Your Intuition is your inner guidance system, that operates on an energetic vibration of truth and love and helps you stay authentic and in integrity with your soul plan.

Most mind-body-spirit practitioners consider your intuition as your “first sense,” the sense you should rely on and use most often in your life before you use any of your other five senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch.

How can you tune into your intuition and the energy lines around you?

Using your intuition to read the energy lines around you on a regular basis will help you create a positive impact in your own life and in the lives of others.

Photo: Dottie Lessard YouTube Can you make it to the fence? No matter how bad things look, do you have the energy, the motivation, to take another breath, another step? Are the obstacles in your life real? Or are they self-imposed? For Dottie Lessard (1966-2015), the obstacles were all too real.

Dottie was born with the chronic lung disease cystic fibrosis but with the heart of an athlete. Dottie underwent a bilateral lung transplant and died twice on the operating table. She survived the operation to become an athlete.

However, post-operative complications and medications caused kidney failure, requiring Dottie to undergo a kidney transplant. Never losing sight of her dreams and with a clear and determined focus, Dottie fought her way through surgery and recovery to become not only an athlete once again, but a professional one under contract with NIKE.

After hearing Dottie’s story, can you make it to the fence in your own life? I know that you can.

The health club I belong to has an elite junior volleyball program for middle school and high school students. According to their web-site, the program has had 250+ athletes who went on to play volleyball in college. Their teams are competitive at the national level each year and several have won national junior championships. These volleyball players are dedicated athletes that practice several hours each night and play in tournaments just about every weekend.

During the winter and the days when I am not able to run outside, I run inside at the health club which includes the this elite junior volleyball program. As I am running laps on the running track around the volleyball courts, I am able to observe the volleyball practices.

To me, the volleyball players reminded me of box of pencils, volleyball pencils. A group of very uniform individuals.

“The volleyball players all look so similar, I call them Volleyball Pencils.”

The volleyball pencils remind me of those individuals in our society who live in and controlled by the collective energy of our society.

Being part of the collective energy often means you are living in a passive, dis-empowered state. You are reacting to this collective energy based on what is already programmed in your own subconscious.

In most instances you are not accepting responsibility for the decisions you do make and are not trying to co-create your own life in any positive way.

Of course there were also other athletes on the volleyball court. Athletes who were taller, shorter and had different body types than the other athletes on the volleyball court. These athletes were the “outliers.”

In statistics, an “outlier” is a data point that differs significantly from other observations.

An outlier is typically a person whose thoughts and actions are significantly different than the majority of other people.

One type of outlier is a person who understands and lives by the “Law of Attraction.”

Stephen Lesavich, PhD

The Law of Attraction stated simply is, “like-attracts-like” and that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person’s life.

Many outliers who practice the Law of Attraction are those people who have changed the patterns and programming in their own subconscious mind.

live by the Law of Attraction and co-create a life you truly desire, you need to re-program you subconscious mind to alter any established negative behavior patterns. Re-programming your subconscious mind allows you to live in an active, empowered state, in which “miracles” commonly occur.

However, your subconscious mind will likely cause you to feel emotionally and even physically uncomfortable whenever you attempt to change any of your established behavior patterns.

So how can you overcome resistance to re-program your subconscious mind to create the life you truly desire?

Reprogramming your subconscious to become an outlier who practices the Law of Attraction allows you to make a positive impact in your own life helps you co-create the life you truly desire.

I am definitely an outlier. How about you?

Are the words appreciation and gratitude different? Many people use the words interchangeability. However, are they really interchangeable?

Appreciation” is defined as “recognition and enjoyment of the value and good qualities of someone or something and a full understanding of a situation.”

Gratitude” is defined as “the quality of being thankful; a positive response shown by the recipient of kindness, gifts, help, favors, or other types of generosity, towards the giver of such gifts.”

According to Law of Attraction expert, Esther Hicks, “Appreciation is presence of everything that feels good and the absence of everything that feels bad. The state of Appreciation is seeing whatever you are looking at through the eyes of Source. Appreciation and gratitude are very different vibrational states.”

Why are appreciation and gratitude different vibrational states?

Again according to Esther Hicks, “when you feel gratitude, you are looking at a difficulty that you have overcome, but there is still some of the vibration of struggle present.”

Your expression of gratitude and appreciation send out very different vibrations.

Stephen Lesavich, PhD

How can you the correct choose words to use in your own life with the best vibrations?

Choosing words wisely in your own life will help you create a positive impact in your life and co-create the life you truly desire.

I was talking to a female acquaintance who is single and she told me that when she puts a profile up on a dating site, she considers her profile being a “message in a bottle.”

She writes a note (her profile) about what kind of partner she is looking for, puts it in a bottle (her login identifier) and tosses the bottle into the ocean (searchable profiles by login id on the dating web-site) including the tens of thousands of other daters. She is hopeful that her bottle will “wash up” on the virtual shore of her desired partner, he will open it, read her message, contact her and personally interact with her.

Her comments made me think about something. Her analogy about being a “message in a bottle” is how most of us go through life, our own unique message stuck and isolated in our own bottle floating around some kind of personal ocean we live life in.

We are all here to accomplish something extraordinary based on our own unique soul plan. Yet, we isolate ourselves from others and trap ourselves in our own bottle based on our life experiences, our belief systems, our relationships and our interactions with our friends and family.

What kind of bottle is your message in? Is it clear, opaque, or does it have a color? Is your bottle glass or plastic?

What is your message, the unique message that is your true, authentic and genuine self that you need to share with the world outside your own bottle?

Are you waiting for someone to open your bottle or can you open it yourself?

Most people agree that stress is bad for your physical and your mental health.

However, recent studies have also shown that “freak out stress” may actually be good for your health!

What is “freak out stress?” Is it really good for you?

Freak out stress” is designated as “an extreme short term psychosocial stress associated with stimuli that triggers a stress response in multiple systems in your body causing the release of stress hormones adrenaline and cortisol.”

Freak out stress includes responding to such events and situations as, trying to ride a 60 foot wave, being called upon to try to make the game winning during a time out, meeting your boyfriend’s/girlfriend’s parents for the first time, being asked to give a keynote speech in front of a large audience on short notice, asking your boss for a raise, stepping into the cage with current world-champion MMA fighter in your weight class, etc.

In a recent article for Surfer magazine, Justin Housman suggests something he calls “big wave stress” and I call “freak out stress” that supercharges the immune system, improves memory functions in the brain and provides other effects beneficial to your health.

Housman cites a study by Firdhaus Dhabhar, a professor of Behavioral Science at Stanford University, that suggests that “freaking out in the face of danger supercharges the immune system, sending beneficial cells to places most likely to be injured, everything from the skin, the lungs, and the gut. Wound healing throughout the body is increased too and memory is improved.”

Are you willing to voluntarily engage in activities or put yourself in situations that cause “freak out stress?” If so, consider these three things.

Are you voluntarily willing to a take a large short term risk to supercharge your body and your brain to help you heal?

Something that may make you feel alive again?

I am in. How about you?

Just like in a basketball game, in your own life you have a three point arc called your major life arc, which defines your own comfort zone. To initiate any change you desire or embrace and cope with events associated with undesired change in your own life, you must step completely outside your major life arc with both feet into your own three point life zone and take “3 > 2” risk actions.

To initiate any change you desire or embrace and cope with events associated with undesired change in your own life, you must step completely outside your major life arc with both feet into your own three point life zone and take “3 > 2” risk actions. Doing so will dynamically change your internal and external boundaries of your major life arc, where a set of new rich and diverse experiences is possible. Only then will you experience the transitions, transformations and personal growth you desire.

I am a 3 point shooter in my life. How about you?
