Every meal is more than a meal. We share more at our tables than food and drink.

Eric Hoffman, our Executive Pastor of Outreach & Ministry Strategy, teaches about the practical ways we can invite those around us to our tables. We've created a simple guide to inviting people to your table called a Host Kit, which—whether you host regularly or have never had guests in your home—is designed to help you avoid the guesswork and eliminate the potential barriers to inviting others to your table. We can't wait to hear the stories of all that God does around our tables.

We had no idea what would happen, we just sensed the nudging of the Holy Spirit to take a step of faith…

Last Wednesday, while studying for the weekend message, Lloyd was struck by the profound and courageous “immediacy” of the Ethiopian's obedience to be baptized in our passage. Later in our worship planning team meeting, it seemed good to us and the Holy Spirit that we should give our church body the opportunity to make an “immediate” step of obedience, however the Spirit might lead.

Oh my… God answered our prayers! And not just this prayer, but what we prayed during our 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting! Our prayers for the Spirit's renewal, empowerment and direction. It was a gift of God to remind us of who we are and why we exist. To give people the opportunity to trust God like they never have, and be changed by God in ways they never imagined, that the world may know God’s great love in Christ. I think we can all agree… changed lives change lives. Even for those of us not baptized, we will never be the same.

Karen Jobes, in her excellent commentary on Esther writes:

When we speak of God’s providence, we mean that God, in some invisible and inscrutable way, governs all creatures, actions, and circumstances through the normal and the ordinary course of human life, without the intervention of the miraculous.

Key Scripture

Psalm 135:5-6

“For I know that the Lord is great; our Lord is greater than all gods. He does whatever He pleases in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the depths!”

Westminster Shorter Catechism

What are God’s works of providence?

God’s works of providence are, His most holy, wise, and powerful preserving and governing all His creatures, and all their actions.
