A podcast that aims to bring knowledge of Late Antiquity to the public. Its remit includes the end of the Roman Empire and the so-called ’barbarian kingdoms.’
This podcast will cover the lethal Justinian Plague which affected the Late Antique world. I will cover the 'minimalist' view of its impact, before arguing for its significance. Finally, I discuss the relationship between the humanities and the sciences, in light of the latter being increasingly used to understand the plague.
Today, the term 'vandal' has connotations of destructiveness. However, the term originally comes from a barbarian group from Late Antiquity. This episode shall examine the Vandals and see if their poor reputation is deserved.
