Backpacking America is a podcast dedicated to exploring the culture and society that makes up the United States of America.
President Joe Biden constantly falling sleep and wandering off and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell freezing up in public stresses the necessity of term limits. Careerism in politics must be eliminated so we never see a 40 or 50 year career in the Senate or Washington again. By eliminating such careerism, we can reduce the amount of corruption that exists in the halls of our Democratic institutions.

12-year-old Jaiden from Colorado was removed from class for sporting a Gadsden Flag patch on his backpack. The Vanguard School, a charter school, had its staff remove Jaiden after he refused to remove th patch. They claimed the patch symbolizes slavery and racism.
I mention how they school is incorrect, as the flag stands for the necessity of unity the 13 colonies needed if they were to overthrow British rule. I also mention how the staff is wrong constitutionally, as Tinker v. Des Monies allows students to practice the First Amendment on school grounds so long as it is not disruptive to the school day.

I make the case for everyday Americans to look into growing gardens, fishing and hunting as means to supplement or replace food from grocery stores.
Eating healthy, while possible, will become harder as GMO and Fast Food companies buy out brands seen as traditionally healthy. Make sure to read the labels and research what you can do to make a healthy change.

The Main Stream Media has been pushing for colleges, businesses, and government to begin implementing mask mandates in light of a new COVID variant found in Israel, Canada, the UK and the United States.
There have been whistleblowers and speculations of full lockdowns coming anywhere between October and December.

I visit the Greenport Skatepark for their "Under the Lights" Summer Concert Series! The concerts are put on to draw people to the park in an attempt to highlight the community building space that it is. Donations were being collected to repair the poorly maintained and aging park.
During this event, I interviewed Rena Wilhelm who organized this movement to save the park. I am also joined by Greenport Mayor Kevin, the coolest Mayor ever, who also used to skateboard at the same park. I was later joined by long time skaters of the park Angel and Bo. Then later by the youth that currently use the park today.

I go through the Department of Homeland Security's 2009 Assessment on Right-Wing Extremism to show two things. The first being that not much has changed politically in the issues that affect Americans, and the security state being used to make the average person an enemy of the state.
The second being a wide swath of the American public, diverse in thought and identity, being wrapped up in the Right Wing Extremist label. The label is applied broadly, making it easier to be labeled.

According to a CNBC survey, over half of all new marriages end in divorce. The reasons for divorce may shock you, with the number one reason for divorce being Career choice! 53% of divorcees said they would have stayed with their partner if they clearly understood their partner's morals and values.

The people have Ohio have sided with Democracy by rejecting Issue 1 in a state referendum. The Ohio Republican Party backed Issue 1 would raise the vote for referendums from a simple majority vote of 51-49% up to 60-40% approval. This issue was put to vote in an attempt to stop abortion from being codified into Ohio law through an upcoming ballot initiative.

The Colorado River is drying up, hitting its lowest point in recent history. This has led to shocking visuals of The Hoover Dam's water supply almost completely evaporated. These dry conditions leave 26 million Americans in jeopardy of losing fresh drinking water and electric power.

The United States Marine Corps. will be stationed on US cargo ships travelling through the Strait of Hormuz. This comes after several US and other Allied Cargo Vessels have been seized by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Iran's Religious wing of the Military. The USMC presence aboard American cargo ships is available if requested by the shipping companies.

The Writers Guild of America has embarked on the longest work stoppage in industry history, exceeding the 93 day record of the 2008 labor strike.
The WGA demands that Artificial Intelligence be used on a limited basis in the creative process, expansion of the writers room, as well as better compensation packages and stronger job protections for writers.

Florida Governor Ron Desantis banned AP Psychology from being taught in the state's high schools as the curriculum contained mention LGBTQ+ identities in relation to the psychological field. I believe that this move is detrimental to education and the endeavors of Psychological and Human advancement.

I discuss my views on Traditional Religion and how I fell out of touch with God as a result of the Church's institutions. I instead believe that spirituality based on an independent connection with God, your spirit guides, and your relatives who passed on is more fulfilling.
Even building a church in your room, at the park, or in a basement with your close friends and family where you discuss scripture or connectivity with spirit and self is more conducive than traditional religious institutions.
This episodes purpose is to present a "third way" between the traditional religious movements and the growing "spiritualism" based off of astrology, occultism and mysticism that is seeing a resurgence in 21st Century America.

New York city Mayor Eric Adams has went from being a supporter of the cities efforts to maintain its Sanctuary City status, to being totally against it. This change of heart represents many municipalities labeled as sanctuaries in the aftermath of Texas and Florida sending illegal immigrants to Sanctuary Cities and States around the country, most notably New York and California.

The amount of garbage related to Adam22 and his "wife" Lena the Plug has irritated me enough to make this podcast. Marriage and committed relationships are a sacred thing.
While I understand the difference between monogamy (one partner) or polygamy (multiple partners) what Adam and Lena are doing is insane. Allowing your spouse to have sex with someone outside of your married partner(s), film said interaction and then promote it and post it for all to see for money no less is gross, irresponsible and immoral.

Tiktok is certainly a Chinese spying app. It can also be a great place to learn about the harsh realities concerning kidnappings, cryptids and the paranormal. I recall some personal experiences and share experiences others have posted ontiktok and around the internet.
I also give a brief explanation as to what cryptids really are, which are Native Americans with shamanic powers who decide to be spiritual hit men. What most people see in the woods are paranormal entities, not cryptids.

Rena Wilhelm is by no means a skateboarder. But when she heard an 11 year old boy wanted to fix the crumbling skatepark in Greenport, NY she answered the call.
She organized a nonprofit and a multitude of events to gather donations to give children and amateur skaters a safe place to practice skateboarding, scootering, BMX and rollerblading.
So far her nonprofit has collected $50,000 of their $100,000 goal to resurface and rebuild the park. While many skaters can remember middle age and elderly people chasing them away from spots or hurling insults, Greenport's residents and government want to help skaters find a safe place to skate and have become included in the tight nit skating community.

Dr. Evan Howard Ashford has published Mississippi Zion, a book focusing on Attala County from 1865-1915. The purpose of his book is to challenge the narrative of Black history in America. The narrative in question being one where Black people are constantly oppressed and constantly struggling. T
his book instead focuses on Black people embracing their rights as freed American citizens and shows not just the bad, but the good as well. It shows how black farmers, shop keepers, teachers and scholars rose so quickly. And shows how this rapid success led to jealous and fearful reprisals.

Van Life is a trendy way to be homeless without the inconveniences of freezing or overheating to death. I talk about the cool aspects of Van Life, such as the craftsmanship and freedom. However, I also address the emerging view that van life and tiny homes are a "solution" to the housing crisis. This lifestyle is not a solution, rather it is just that. A lifestyle. Many cannot afford the money to invest in a high tech van or tiny home, nor have a career that enables working from home or on the road.

After a long hiatus I discuss why America must return to Civic Responsibility. We need to understand how our country works, its history, ideals, and our duty to maintain the country. Part of this maintenance is solving food insecurity, providing civic education to school children, having an active role in children's lives at home and in our nations institutions. We also must defend it with the concept of the "Universal Army" in the face of international terrorism and potential invasion.

Elon Musk purchases Twitter for over 40 Billion Dollars on April 25th 2022. The Left decries this as an end to their safe space, the Right celebrates this as a victory for Free Speech, but as your local Marxist I vehemently disagree. Unless Musk eliminates the algorithm that prioritizes echo chambers then we will not have free speech. To have free speech, we must have all opinions interact with each other daily to breed healthy discussion and debate. This constant challenge to ideas is what builds positive discourse and refines positions. This is simply a moralistic outcry to get investment capital and to cater to an audience. He wants everyone to be included on Twitter, that way he can get everyone's money.

My reasoning for the decline in factual information being valued is the manipulation of social media. I believe that the wealthy classes of America created our current social media algorithms to divide people. They experience "culture shock" when they encounter groups and people other to their own. Which explains not only stupid online arguments, but the fast tracking of radical ideals.

I discuss how any decision effecting Mr. Rogan will effect thousands of other podcasters and content creators. I also play three videos. One of Jen Psaki agreeing more must be done to combat misinformation, A second one of Mr. Rogan speaking about the incident, and a Third of The Independent attacking Mr. Rogan with a mashup of 0:46 Seconds of his episodes and the reaction video. I look at what is considered fitness is our society from a Marxist lens. In doing so I compare what Fitness actually is; functionality, and health. But I look at what is considered "fitness" in wider society which is vanity and excess. In a socialized society, gyms would be collectively owned where classes, membership, and trainers would not be blocked by monetary blocks. This would create an informed public in regards to basic body function, and increased standards of true fitness.

Igor joins me to explain how body fat works and the negative stigmas surrounding fat loss and "proper" nutrition. Functional training can certainly help reduce fat levels, but the process in doing so is radically different for each person. It also depends on every individuals caloric needs and nutrition. NYS Assembly Bill A416, and its previous versions, entail detaining segments of the population that have come in contact or carry a pandemic like infectious disease.
Versions of this bill have attempted to make it to the floor of the State Assembly since 2015. The bill goes into vague detail about where positive cases would be detained and for how long.
I explain why the constant division of workers will make something like this possible. I also urge people to abandon focus on the culture war. "Cancelling" someone based on their views on racism in America, vaccination status, and masking habits is counter productive to class unity. Class unity is the only way to ensure that we can eliminate racism, and pandemic mismanagement.

New cars are going to have "Kill Switches" in them. This new addition to motor vehicles have been mandated by the recently passed infrastructure bill. These devices will shut your car off if it determines your driving patterns resemble and intoxicated person. I contemplate whether these are measures fro the safety of all, or measures of tyranny. I discuss the awful results of Astroworld, and the terrible response from Travis Scott. Scott has a history of destructive and violent venues that often feed on the worst human characteristics. I cover the social effects of the great resignation and what this means for the Labor Movement. October marks what the AFL-CIO appropriately calls "Striketober". Over 169 strikes have taken place this month across all American industries. We also see a record number of first responders, medical workers, and other working class people leaving their jobs in protest of the vaccine mandate. I discuss how this in particular is an advancement in the labor struggle, even if the reasoning is not agreeable.

The CIA, and before them the FBI, have been funding the various formations of Progressive thought and movements in the United States, Europe and Latin America for over 100 years.
The aim of this is to make anti-communist socialists. The ultimate goal of this was to make sure the communist movement, and in the 1960's the New Left, became fragmented and powerless.
They achieved this by using Anarchist principles of anti-authoritarianism and individual action of achieving socialism to weaken these mass movements. The Communist Movement and the New Left focused on mobilizing the entire nation with a strict chain of command to lead actions and elections. Both deteriorated by the influence of FBI/CIA sponsored individualism and hyper criticism of chains of commands within these movements.
In this episode I show evidence that exposes the connection between government intervention in the thought and movements of the people.

Long Island is feeling the labor wave caused by "Striketober" the month of strikes across various American Industries. UFCW 2013 is currently on strike against poor working conditions at Quality King's Bellport Warehouse.
Our communities across Long Island are also feeling the brunt of political development, and antagonization by the Far-Right. Saturday October 16th saw the Proud Boys, a National Chauvinist/Fascist group, march through Patchogue at peak drinking hours. The next day, Sunday October 17th, saw the annual Long Island Loud Majority caravan back up traffic for miles on 27 East from Seaford LIRR station to Montauk. In this episode I talk about how to fight fascism by helping your neighbor, and uniting through labor and national duty.

Frances Haugen, also known as the Facebook Whistleblower, rose to national attention out of thin air exposing many of the corrupt policies of Facebook and voicing concerns about the sites safety for children and its practices eroding democracy at home and stoking ethnic tensions and harm abroad. For such a broad assault on this very powerful and wealthy company, why is she given positive attention by the government and minimal pushback from Facebook? If Chelsea Manning, Edward Snowden, and Julian Assange are hunted down and in jeopardy of death why does Haugen get a verified Twitter and celebrity status?

The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) have voted almost unanimously to enact a Strike Authorization. Over 98% of the 89% of voters voted YES to Strike Authorization. This means if the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers (AMPTP) fails to come to an agreement with IATSE, then a strike will be underway and all production of television and movies will cease.
SB8, the controversial Texas Abortion Law was sent back to Federal Court this past weekend. US District Judge Robert Pitman is questioning wether the Deputization of private citizens is a proxy for the state to enforce this law. This would violate Roe v. Wade. Over 600 protests around the country took place this weekend to demand an overturn of this law. Women in Texas have been forced to carry pregnancies to term, or flee to neighboring states for care. This has led to their abortion clinics being overrun.

In this episode I cover additional union led strike waves that have occurred in all major areas of the American economy. This episode focuses on Starbucks workers in Buffalo, NY organizing for higher pay, in conjunction with food service workers in general fighting for better conditions. The deaths of 678,000 Americans, inflation, and a lag in production. These factors have made workers have more power due to their smaller numbers and lack of people wanting to return to work for low compensation. Thus making workers more valuable.

The International Alliance of Stage and Theatrical Stage Employees is voting on "Strike Authorization", the process for formally striking union wide, from October 1st through the 3rd. They are fighting for an end of "Fraturdays", a schedule of being worked 14-18 hours ending the shift on Sunday morning. They are also fighting for an end to 14-18 hour shifts throughout the work week as this has resulted in numerous deaths, car accidents, and workplace accidents/illnesses.
The United Farm Workers are going on strike in opposition to California Governor Gavin Newsom's (D) veto of AB-616. This bill would have given UFW members and other Agricultural Unions the ability to vote in union elections via mail in ballot. Sharp criticism emerged against Newsom, who allowed mail in ballots for his recall election, but not for union elections.

The war in Afghanistan has been waged for 20 years. The United States has finally pulled out of the country, leading to the Taliban swiftly taking control of the country. Many are warhawking about Afghanistan, demanding America stay in the nation forever, while others acknowledge that while the Taliban taking over is a tragedy, US imperialism is not the way to defeat the Taliban. Nassau County Executive Laura Curran has vetoed the Police Class Protection legislation. This bill passed the County Legislature 12 to 6 and would give Police a wide range for legal retribution against protestors. This came with the strong advice by the Attorney General of New York after concerns of First Amendment violations would soon occur after the passage of such a document. The internet has become an addictive, habit forming, and privacy destructive place. I realized I needed to talk about this after reading Caitlin Flanagan's article in The Atlantic about her Twitter addiction. I agreed that I too have fallen victim to Twitter and Social Media in general. Especially her conclusions about it being harmful to her attention span, which I linked to the push for shorter length of content. I also linked the rise of political divisions to social media and its algorithmically created echo chambers, used solely for marketing purposes. We are killing our nation for someone else's profit!

The Coronavirus Pandemic is rapidly coming to a close leaving many wondering what is the point of masks. Those in fervent support of mask wearing say it is because they don't trust people or feel uncomfortable ditching the mask yet. Others feel that since they are vaccinated their is no reason to mask up. Businesses are also divided along these lines. Low Power FM was the last ditch effort for pirates to finally give there communities a voice while being legally sanctioned by the government. The Prometheus Project was in large part responsihble for making communities aware of LPFM becoming available, and constructing the radio stations these communities would use. One of these radio stations is Radio Free Nashville.
