I didn’t set out to become a paid speaker or a professional podcaster. But those things happened. And it all began the day I started telling one simple personal story. You have a story like that. On The Aaron Schlein Story, I share everything I learn about building your personal network, expanding your influence, and monetizing your expertise. It all starts with that ONE damn story.
A single dramatic and captivating real-life tale can become the foundation of your personal brand business. Book deals. Speaking gigs. Affiliate partnerships. These are just a few ways entrepreneurs generate revenue year after year because of one story from their lives. And the reality is that you don't have to land a passenger jet on the Hudson River to have a story that earns you a revenue-rich reputation. I didn't set out to become a paid speaker or a flag waving travel advocate. Those things came as a result of sharing a simple story about traveling with my grandmother. My story got people's attention. It opened their minds and vividly illustrated the importance of travel in young people's lives. As my story began to spread through my podcast and personal network, lives were touched and changed. People I've never met heard my story and started taking their kids on trips that they might not have otherwise. I'll ask you again: What is your ONE story that will change people's lives (including your own!)? In many ways, my work has since transcended those simple beginnings. But it all started with that one damn story. Period. End of story.

Travel has the power to transform young lives, and dramatic life-changing travel experiences should not be reserved for the fortunate few.
When I was a kid, I was lucky enough to have adults in my life who understood the value of travel. They got me out into the world and positively changed the course of my life. Travel instilled in me levels of humility, gratitude, patience, and empathy that may not have developed otherwise.
Realizing just how fortunate I was, I began to imagine that someday I would do something to give under-served youth an opportunity to explore the world the way I did.
Recently, I learned that there is an existing organization doing exactly what I’d always envisioned. That organization is FLYTE.
FLYTE is a non-profit organization that empowers students in under-served communities through transformative travel experiences. FLYTE was founded in 2015 by travel author and blogger, Matthew Kepnes, better known as Nomadic Matt.
Kirsten Maxwell is a freelance travel writer, photographer, and social media influencer based in Chicago.
Kirsten is the owner of Kids Are A Trip, a travel website inspiring families to explore the world with their children.
She is also a Travelocity and Moon Travel Guides Ambassador. After traveling with her family for 15 years, she has learned to find those off-the-beaten path experiences while still finding time to explore the popular attractions.
