In the last Episode, Chapters 21-24, we find out the results of the contest! Will Lucy get Grandma Lilah out on the lake to see the loons? How will the summer friendship end with Lucy and Nate?
In Chapters 16-20 something tragic happens to the loons! Will this effect Lucy and Nate's friendship. The photo contest is almost done and Lucy needs to mail in the entry so she needs to make some important choices.
In Chapters 13-15 Lucy and the gang start to make the posters to protect the loons and Lucy continues to take photos for the contest. There is a little more drama with poor Grandma Lilah too...

In the Trailer we find out that one of our main characters is running away with her brother to a museum and we also read a mysterious letter from Mrs. Frankweiler to her lawyer Saxonberg. It definitely set the tone for intrigue!
In the last three chapters of The Great Gilly Hopkins we will find out how the whole story finishes up. Will Gilly stay with Trodder? Will she ever reunite with her mother? Or will she end up living with her grandmother? What will become of Galadriel?
The arrival of Gilly's grandmother was certainly a surprise. Is she going to be leaving and starting a new life with her real family? Or will Gilly change her mind about wanting to leave and fight to stay in Thompson Park with the people she is learning to love?
After Gilly gets caught trying to run away she hesitates about returning to Trodder's house. But at the pleading of W.E. she goes back home. Let's see how this incident effects her relationship with everyone.

In Chapters 25& 26 Otto starts to sell dog walking subscriptions to try and make some money quicker, what a great idea from Malcolm! Otto continues to have his usual dog walking adventures. The $20 that Otto "accidentally" took from Lexi is still on his mind. What will he end up doing about that?
In Chapters 23 & 24 Otto and Lexi go to visit their dad and while he feels a little ignored he is impressed that they are so dedicated. Malcolm is busy helping Otto to win the Pet War and even though Otto was spying on his sister, he has a small crisis of conscience that he must deal with.
In Chapters 21 &22 Otto continues to try and earn more money. It is getting closer and closer to the end of the the contest and Lexi may have already earned her money. Otto is also worried about school, soccer, and most of all his friendship with Malcolm. Let's find out how Otto's dog walking business is going and if the two boys have made up.
In Chapters 19 & 20 the growing pressure to earn $500 is starting to effect Otto in many areas of his life; soccer, school, and even friendships. He also discovers what Lexi's new money making plan is.
In Chapters 17 & 18 Mom checks in on the kid's progress in the contest now that it is half way through the competition. Otto discovers that Lexi has another money making idea and he gets nervous so he has another idea of his own. Let's listen to find out what happens next.
In Chapters 15 & 16 Otto's Dog Walking business has had a few missteps but he is also getting creative with how to make some additional money. Something appears to be going wrong with Lexi's tutoring jobs though. Let's see what happens next.

Let's get started with our novel. In Chapter 1 & 2 we will be introduced to our main characters Otto and Lexi and the war will begin.
Hi Everyone,
I miss you all already! Since we do a read aloud in class everyday I thought we should continue even though we aren't together face to face. For those of you who read Class Dismissed, this book is by the same author, so it should be pretty good. I haven't read this book yet so it will be a new read for all of us, unless someone has read it already. I hope not! I was thinking of reading 2 chapters every day (there are 29 chapters) that would take us approximately 3 weeks to finish. If we come back before then, we will finish in class. I will also set up a book chat in Seesaw so if you want to discuss the book with others you can, but if you want to just listen and enjoy you can do that too. This is my first time doing a podcast so I am excited to try a new technology. Here we go!
