Gerald Irons Sr. is a very prominent business person in the north Houston area so much so that they named an elementary school after him, Gerald Irons Sr. Middle School in the south Conroe area.
So we will talk with Gerald Jr. about what is was like growing up in an NFL family and how he worked with his son Gerald III through recruiting and his decision to attend West Point next fall.

We are just 2 weeks away from the start of football season and teams are already having scrimmages here in the 2nd full week of practices.
A very unique podcast this week as Matt and Josh will do their normal thing in segment one as far as talking high school news in football, recruiting, and volleyball, but in the second segment we bring you Terry Bradshaw’s speech from this weeks Touchdown Club of Houston’s annual dinner recognizing the pre-season high school football team in the area.

Welcome back everyone to another edition of the VYPE Locker Talk Radio podcast. This week Managing Editor Josh Koch and the gang talks about the Rockets meltdown in the NBA regional finals and of course the softball state finals coming up this weekend and the baseball regional final playoffs.
In softball action this week Houston can make some noise as in 5A we have Richmond Foster and Barbers Hill at opposite ends of the bracket and in 6A we have Oak Ridge and Atascociota with the potential of having an All-Houston finals in both 5A and 6A. That has never happened before.
In baseball we still have plenty of Houston teams left with 5A we have Kingwood Park taking on Tomball Memorial in region 3 action, moving to 6A for region 2 we have The Woodlands taking on Round Rock and in region 3 6A we have Cy Fair taking on Cy-Ranch which is a rematch of district 17-6A
In the second segment we’ll bring you the press conference of Kliff Kingsbury as he visited the Houston Touchdown Club earlier this week. Kingsbury will talk about the Red Raiders “state of the program” and how local Houston area players will be contributing this season.
Kingsbury mentions Travis Bruffey of Ridge Point, Atascocita’s Quan Shorts and Lonzell Gilmore from Spring High School.

Coach Madison is a great story as she led The Woodlands to two state titles in 2013 and 2014 and also took the Lady Highlanders to the 2010 state title match where they would succumb to Lewisville Hebron.
Coach Madison also is married to College Park football coach Lonnie Madison so we will get an inside look on what it means to be a coaches wife.

Bomar recently accepted the Offensive Coordinator position under head coach Cedric Hardeman at Conroe.
Bomar is a very interesting young man as he was the #1 high school recruit in the nation back in 2004 out of Grand Prarie HS, Bomar also played at both the division 1 level at Oklahoma and at the FCS level with Sam Houston State and had a time in the NFL so Coach Bomar brings a ton on insight in recruiting and playing at the next level.

Every 2 years the University Interscholastic League redraws every district based on enrollment and geographic area.
VYPE Magazine was down at the Region 4 Education Service Center in Houston to follow all the district announcements that began at 9am.

A very busy week in Houston high school sports as Todd James and Josh Koch talk about the latest coaching movements in Houston, we’ve got big news from The Woodlands, Houston ISD, and some new hires in Montgomery ISD that we will touch on.

Bisselman takes over the most challenging job in Texas this season as he will attempt to rebuild a football program that has been in shambles since the 1980's. Formerly of Fulshear and Cinco Ranch Bisselman takes over a program which has gone 39-207 since 1990. Bissleman brings youth, energy, and desire to a program which features all-district wide receiver Henry Hampton and returns 9 total starters from 2016. Baliff leads a Rice Owl program that is chalk full of Houston talent including RG Cory Klinger (Alvin), CB D'Angelo Ellis (Cypress Ridge), and RE Brian Womac (Memorial).
