Goals, goals, goals. They're everywhere. And they're great!

But as a society we seem to have lost our ability to do something simply because....we want to!

Don't quite know yet what you want to do? Don't have a clear picture of the end? Want to do something that seems silly, or you can't explain to others so you keep putting it off in favor of doing those things that "move you forward"?

Stop. Do it for the joy.

Why is it so scary and so important to let our voices be heard?

To speak up, first we need to believe that we need to. It's easy to believe that it doesn't matter, or that we are doing just fine if we don't. But not speaking up and letting your voice be heard is not only bad for your mental health, but it limits creativity and problem-solving and worse...it spreads and encourages others to keep quiet as well.

You are a beautiful, strong, smart woman. You deserve to be heard!

The concept of Extreme Ownership, which I recently encountered in the book Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin can be terrifying.

Until you get to the heart of it, and then it is one of the most empowering and freeing choices we can make in all aspects of our lives.

In this episode we are going to talk about what in the world it is...and why it can bring so much to our work, our home, and our mental wellbeing.

Got goals? Of course you do. Probably in your personal life, you work life, and much more. But setting goals often seems so much easier than actually achieving them. Why is that?

Well, often it's because we didn't take enough time and care in building the foundation for those goals. Because it's so much fun to dream and decide where we want to go, we rush it and make mistakes that don't set us up for creating a goal that we not only CAN achieve, but that will be super fulfilling when we get there.

So today's episode is all about the top 7 mistakes we make when setting goals - and, most importantly, how to fix them.

You are absolutely enough to achieve any goal you want to, but to set yourself up for the best possible path to accomplishing your dreams, avoid these mistakes and go get it goal getter!

Negotiation can seem so scary - but it doesn't have to be! One of the primary issues is that we think of it as an "us vs them" scenario.

There are a lot of subtleties and strategies that get taught, but as I've negotiated in business, at home, and just in general, I've found that there are three keys to negotiation that make the whole process a lot less stressful and a lot more rewarding.

  1. Really KNOW that you deserve it.

  2. Know your BATNA

  3. Always enter with the knowledge that it could and SHOULD be a win-win situation.

Who doesn't want superpowers? If I had a superpower, it would be to control the weather. Unfortunately, that's probably not in the cards for me. But the good news is, anyone in leadership or anyone who wants to connect more with others already has a powerful capability right now - being vulnerable. And the even better news for women is that women generally have more tendencies towards allowing themselves to be vulnerable, and that can make them incredible leaders.

We often think of leaders or bosses as cold and distant - standing apart with all of the answers. But most of us don't have the answers. I'm not saying turn into an emotional puddle at work. Boundaries are always important. But if you want to gain a better community at work, build more trust with those around you, and have a powerful force for good on your side, learning to be vulnerable is a great place to start.

How many hats do you wear? How many roles do you fulfill? Have you ever identified yourself by your many roles rather than by who you are? As the number of women who want to find alignment grows, the deeper the problem of figuring out what WE really want instead of what we are supposed to be DOING goes.

There's a lot out there about self-talk and how our subconscious has a huge impact on how we act, so we should be careful about how we talk to ourselves. And all of that is true, but one of the missing pieces in the conversation is how many of us have multiple identities, and those identities are usually defined by what others need from us and what our roles are, rather than who we really are and what we really want.

You are so much more than enough, and the world deserves to see your light - all of it - not just the part you show depending on the people around you. There's a very real argument to be made that our impact and influence on the world can grow if we start looking at ourselves and our lives as an integrated whole, rather than trying to balance and separate out work and life.

What does it feel like to take a deep breath? Apparently for me, it feels like wanting to share your story. In today's episode, we are going to go through what inspired this podcast and what you can expect going forward. She is Enough is for those of you running from task to task, feeling like life is all about reaction, not choice. It is for those of you who sometimes wonder if you're alone in trying to figure out how to succeed at work in the face of male-dominated BS and our own internal BS while simultaneously trying to feed the kids, clean the house, and get in some of that mythical self-care that everyone else but you seems to have time for. It's a podcast about the real real regarding leadership, self-doubt, career choices, work-life balance, and more. Basically, it's about being a woman in today's world. I don't have all the answers, and the answers aren't the same for each of us. But I do know sharing stories, strategies, what has worked, and what hasn't is a step forward. Why do I think I can talk to you about this stuff? Well, take a listen to the episode and I'll tell you. You are not alone. And you are more than ENOUGH.

We are on a constant search for work-life balance. And women seem to focus on this more, and have more of an issue with achieving it - primarily because of the imbalance in the amount of unpaid work that we do.

Between the errands, the meetings, the cooking, the pursuit of promotions, keeping up relationships from significant others to children to friends and relatives, maintaining a good social media profile, figuring out how in the world to do that Pinterest recipe, working out, meditating, and meal prepping - we often are in a constant state of running from fie to fire and waking up in the middle of the night wondering what we forgot to do.

How do we step off of this hamster wheel? Where is the exit that allows us to pursue the careers we love and maintain healthy relationships and not go crazy at the same time? Step 1 - realize that the way we currently look at work-life balance is a myth. It's not the same for any two people, and not even the same for one person throughout all of their life. This episode will take you through some ways to kickstart finding balance, in whatever way works best for you.
