I am Andrea Neville. I am a psychic, a medium, a channel, and a healer. I am also a lover of heavy metal, good rock and roll and classical music. But wait, there's more. I am also a wife, mom, dog owner former teacher and a lover of chocolate!

Why am I introducing myself after my 58th episode? For a couple of reasons: #1. Some of you are new and 2. Because I am not the same person as I was in Episode 1! And that is ok. It is actually better than Ok. Because throughout my lifetime and my many experiences, I continue to evolve and in this evolution, I am becoming the person my Spirit Team knows me to be.

Did you ever see that X-files episode where Mulder finds a Genie rolled up in a rug and everyone that makes a wish has their wish come true...and each wish goes awry. What they really wanted and how they asked for what they wanted were two very different things. The Universe is kind of like that rolled up rug Genie!

Whatever you say you want, the Universe is going to provide. But be mindful because what you are saying may not be what you truly want. If you are saying, "I'm never going to be in a great relationship!", the Universe is going to say "YES! I can make that happen". If you are saying, "I am going to be in the best most loving relationship!", the Universe says "YES! I can make that happen". How you show up and what you truly believe you want is what you will receive.

Shadow work is a buzz term lately in the spiritual community but for good reason!! What is all this talk about Shadow work and why is it important? Carl Jung believed that the collective unconscious influences the shadow and to become whole, we must not only acknowledge but accept our shadow. Like Tarot, the evolution of life has many ups and downs and turn all arounds. In Season 3 thus far, Tarot has shown us that when you are evolving, you are on a journey. Some of that journey is filled with rocky, rough ankle-twisting terrain. And some of that journey is as smooth as a newly paved road.

In this episode, we pulled the Six of Cups. When your dogs frolicking, does it make your heart happy? Does your child's imagination make you smile? That is the Six of Cups! It represents innocence, nostalgia or an overall walk down memory lane!

This season we started with the Tarot card, The Fool. In Tarot, the Fool is card zero which is the beginning of the deck. Like Froddo Baggins, the Fool takes on an epic adventure. In our lives, essentially we are The Fool! Before you get upset because we just called you a fool, this is a good thing. We get to learn, change and evolve with each of life's experiences.

In this episode, Tarot has brought us "The Wheel." The Wheel of Fortune is one of the most highly symbolic cards in the deck, filled with signs that each have its own meaning. The Wheel reminds us of the old adage given to us from The Greek philosopher Heraclitus: the one thing that is constant is change. Everything has a cycle. If you haven't learned from the first time in the cycle, don't you fret, because like the trilogy of Lord of the Rings, the cycle repeats itself until we finally do what is called upon us!

Why are sacred spaces and rituals important? Used in the metaphysical and religious worlds, these terms can feel confusing, even triggering, when we are trying to align them with our past understandings and our new perspectives. On today’s episode of Adventures with Spirit, we discuss how to find a place of comfort for ourselves while making space for these ideas.. Grab a cup of tea and sit with us as we dive into maintaining the integrity of sacred space and ritual, how creating sacred space allows Spirit to work, and what to do when our past experiences cause us to feel uncomfortable as we use these tools to tap into our inner voice.

This episode, we discuss:

[02:26] Our childhood experiences of tuning into our own inner voices and rituals

As you grow and evolve as a human being, so will your prayers, rituals, and sacred space.

Jessica expresses that even though she loves prayer now, she still is sometimes triggered by the word as it is reminiscent of her past experiences with prayer. She felt that recited prayers moved her further away from Spirit as they weren’t her own words and didn’t connect with her true self. Now she feels prayer and her other rituals suit her more, because they are her words that carry deep meaning for her. Having a personal connection to the ritual or words in the prayer allow her to tune into and express her inner voice in an authentic way.

Andrea shares that she was raised in a Jewish and Catholic family, which challenged her and also opened her eyes to how she could have a relationship with Jesus that looked differently than others. She feels that it helped her reconcile her knowing that her relationship with Jesus didn’t quite fit into the typical religious connotation.

[09:51] What we mean by ‘ritual’

Simply put, a ritual is something that you do that holds great significance for you. For Andrea, her ritual includes starting her morning by creating a sacred space and spending time with her guides, angels, and loved ones while in her prayer space. For others, a ritual could be getting coffee in the morning and being mindful of what you’re grateful for that day. The key piece to a ritual is having intentionality behind the habit.

[13:39] Intention setting, prayers, and requests

For us, our ritual involves settling in, calming our minds, and opening with a prayer with the intention that we're creating sacred space. However, you don't have to be giving readings, teaching classes, or recording a podcast; you can invite that sacred space into wherever you are with your intentions. When you think about intention, think about your ‘why’ and what your goal would be.

Prayer and requests are interchangeable, so we encourage you to use whichever term makes you feel most comfortable. Prayers and intention setting are often an expression of things or requests for help, and these practices are activating a rapport with the being that you are asking to respond to your request.

[16:39] Why it’s important to make space for Spirit to work

When you’re asking to receive, you also have to give, as in you have to give space to receive it. When we leave space for Spirit to work their magic, we keep ourselves open to receiving answers in whichever form they may come.

[19:00] How rituals, sacred space, prayer, intention setting, and your inner voice are all entwined

Rituals, sacred space, prayer, intention setting: What do they have in common? They’re all connected to your inner voice. It all comes back to finding an authentic way to express your Higher self. Just as we all connect with Spirit in different ways, we also have to learn what helps us connect to our unique inner voice. It’s a journey of bringing Spirit closer each step of the way.

[24:10] Ways you can create sacred space (and our personal practices)

Over the next few episodes of our podcast, we’re going to be sharing and experimenting with different ways to create sacred space and connect to our inner voice. We would ask that you choose one that really resonates with you and just play in the energy of being open and creating space with this new ritual. Be willing to try new things and different suggestions we discuss here on the podcast, and find your favorite way of creating sacred space in your life.

Some of our favorite ways to create sacred space include lighting incense or a candle, personalized prayers, grounding and protection, mediation and spending time in nature.

[28:57] Sacred space and altars

Altars, like the word prayer, can be a triggering term for some, but it is simply a physical expression of what's happening in your spiritual world. Your altar can change throughout life’s seasons and is a part of your sacred space. It includes items that make you feel good, such as pictures of your family and other loved ones, crystals, or other items. Your altar should be filled with what is sacred to you, and should be created with intention, tuning into your inner voice to feel out what you need to create your space. If you decide to incorporate an altar into your practice and space, you will find that it shifts the energy of the room.

[43:13] Creating sacred space in integrity

Whether speaking about it from a metaphysical or religious perspective, integrity of sacred space is important and incredibly helpful for you in connecting to your inner voice, guides, angels, and the world around you. A sacred space created in integrity will help you focus so that your intention becomes manifest.

Have you ever wondered if the stars and planets have an effect on how you move through the world? We invited an amazing being, Maeg Keane, to join us on today’s episode of Adventures with Spirit. Maeg is a consulting astrologer and clinical herbalist with a strong soul-calling to help bring others into nourishing companionship with themselves and our animate world. Maeg has helped us explore our place in the stars and on Earth many times, and we are beyond excited to share their knowledge and passion with you. If you have ever been curious about your purpose here on Earth, listen in as we discuss the what, why, and how behind astrology’s influence on our journeys.

This episode, we discuss:

[01:52] What astrology is

Astrology is the study of the movement of the planets and the way those movements correlate to experiences on Earth. It’s truly a bridge between the wonder we feel when we’re outside basking in the sun or staring up at the stars and our day to day life experiences. Astrology practices date as far back as our oldest history recordings, and some speculate the study may even go back as far as Babylonian times with astral omen watching. What is clear is that astrology has been woven across time throughout many different cultures.

[03:00] Maeg’s astrology practices

Maeg studies and practices within natal astrology, which is the study of the moment someone was born. A chart or a horoscope is drawn up based on the placement of the sky at the moment of someone’s birth. Maeg then uses this information to guide them, studying correlations between the sky, their client, and their client’s life experiences.

[04:04] A peek into an astrology session

Astrology charts can be really disorienting for someone who isn't well acquainted with the practice, which is one of the many reasons it’s important to have a guide on your journey of discovery. Maeg shares that they start their astrology sessions by helping their clients acclimate to the space and information. They will draw a line across the ascendant and descendant sections of a chart, which is called the horizon line. This allows them to better understand the moment at which their client entered the world, their client’s inner multiplicity, and even their entire life stories.

[07:51] Jessica and Andrea’s personal experiences with astrology sessions

Jessica shares that after an astrology session, she felt like the information began to connect for her and made sense for the first time. Her reading resonated with what she knew to be true about herself and what she was seeing unfold in her story. Once she had a guide to look at the whole picture, not just her Sun sign, it came together in a way that allowed her to see herself more clearly.

Andrea had a reading with Maeg in August for her birthday, and within two weeks she began to hear and see pieces of her session come into play. Andrea shares that she feels more prepared for the year now that she has completed a reading.

[10:23] How astrology moves us out of hyper individualism

Astrology moves us out of hyper individualism by helping us build relationships with the planets and stars while guiding us to a better understanding of how we play into the collective. It allows you to have a greater sense of what story you’re in and where you are in that story, which influences how you approach experiences and relationships as a whole. In the end, astrology is connecting you to other people, the multiplicity inside yourself, and what exists beyond the human world.

[13:22] Maeg’s nonlinear discovery of astrology

Sitting in the backseat of a car, reading through a magazine article discussing which prom dress to buy based on sun signs, Maeg was not impressed. The dress chosen for Maeg’s sun sign was something they would never wear, and so the belief that “this astrology thing is stupid” began.

Years later, a college friend began asking about Maeg’s sun sign based on personality traits Maeg displayed. She eventually pulled Maeg’s chart, connecting mannerisms and personality with the fact that Maeg was a Virgo rising with Mercury and Venus in Gemini.. It was then that Maeg realized Astrology was more than just a sun sign, and began to think of it as an elaborate sort of personality test.

It wasn’t until Maeg fell in love with plants that their idea of astrology really began to shift. The plants began to come alive and Maeg began to recognize them as wise beings that they could have a relationship with, which in turn opened their eyes to being able to have a relationship with the planet as well. From that point on, Maeg continued to cultivate their self-proclaimed healthy obsession with plants and planets.

Maeg also attributes her passion and education to Chani Nicholas, whose work led her toward traditional astrology. Channi’s writings and workshops gave Maeg a clearer framework for moving through astrology.

[17:58] The details behind a Mercury retrograde

Here’s the scoop on Mercury retrograde: it gets a bad rap. Typically, we associate Mercury retrograde with life becoming chaotic, but you may go through Mercury retrograde seasons and not feel chaos at all. Maeg explains your experience may depend on whether or not Mercury is a particularly important planet in your chart, or perhaps important for your timing for the particular moment or year. Maeg suggests taking the ‘re’ in retrograde and using it to review and reflect inward regarding how your processing information.

[22:41] How astrology can support positive connection with self and others

Maeg studied their chart as well as their partner’s and began to understand how their chart placements influenced the way they lived and communicated. They began to realize their similarities as well as their differences in their desires to express themselves and be nurtured. This understanding unlocked a higher level of compassion with each other as well as self-tenderness around how they operate individually.

[26:11] Ways to connect with Maeg

Maeg offers various readings and sessions for clients of all levels of astrological understanding. They offer birth chart readings for people who are just getting into astrology and want to better understand their chart. Cycle readings are great for those wanting to dive into predictive work. Plant and Planet Devotion packages will help you gain an intimate understanding of one planet in your chart while leaning into the Earth-Sky connection. Maeg also offers The Dionsysian 5th House reading, which is all about creativity, joy, and pleasure based on your birth chart. You can find Maeg on Instagram or on her website Third Sister (third-sister.com).

On today’s special episode of Adventures with Spirit, we hold a live reading with our listener Mary. Spirit shows up in a major way as we are guided through mediumship, cards, archetypes and other spiritual tools that continue to show us the possibilities of healing through understanding your own personal adventure. Join us and our beautiful guest as we break down and shift belief systems and perceptions, making way for the journey ahead.

This episode, we discuss:

[03:36] A father’s reassurance

Our listener today had a visitor that had been waiting with us for 15 minutes to speak with her. As her father came forward, we felt his sense of pride and dignity, and the sense of security and safety that came with him. He helped us to understand our listener’s character, but also wanted his daughter to know that he was watching over her and a particular situation in her life and that it was going to work out in the end.

[11:07] Spirit guides + cards + clarity

During this reading, we felt Spirit guides moving in as well as some Angelic energy. As we began to tap in, it felt like there was a lot happening in terms of change and life transitions and that it had been going on for an extended period of time. For this reason, we began to pull cards in order to gain a bit of clarity on the energy that was coming through.

[11:57] Major Arcana cards

For this reading, using Tarot cards, a lot of major cards were pulled right away. When we see major Arcana cards show up like this, it can mean that there are a lot of really big energies coming around us, or that there are a lot of soul lessons that we’re learning at the moment.

[22:32] Moving from judgment to discernment/flags of awareness

It can be a lifelong practice, working to move from a place of judgment to discernment. For example, we may perceive someone as thoughtless or insensitive because they’re talking all about themselves. With discernment, we realize that they may not mean it as self-absorption or insensitivity, but as a way to share and open up. It’s important to be aware of your unique red flags that begin to show up as judgment in different situations so that you can shift into discernment.

[30:32] Meeting of interesting archetypes

Our listener had two very different archetypes show up: warrior and healer. It felt like a warrior energy wrapped up in healing. She was very nurturing, caring, and wanting to help others, but was also not afraid to go to battle for someone. It’s a combination we don’t see very often, but these archetypes were very helpful in her work when she had to stand up for the person who couldn't stand up for themselves. .

[38:37] Reading highlights

One of the biggest highlights of this reading for us was how Spirit came in and was really showing off, wrapping up all the episodes prior by seamlessly weaving in all of the elements. We went through cards, patterns, archetypes, and more. It was a beautiful reminder that Spirit is here to support.

Another big moment in this episode was a moment of recognition - a perception shift. Our listener had held a long time belief that she was being difficult when in fact she was being fierce and living her truth. When she shifted her perception and realized she didn’t have to believe that anymore, it was truly an amazing moment. When you have a new perspective on yourself, you can shift the way you see yourself and how you show up in the world.

[42:02] Moving forward after a reading

You’ve had a reading, now how do you move forward? The first suggestion we have for all of our listeners is to pay attention! Pay close attention to your words, actions, thoughts, and how you’re perceiving the world around you. Awareness is always the first.

After awareness, start working with your guides and angels. Ask them to help you see more clearly and to take things one step at a time. Know that everyone’s path is different, so you may be working on something for a short or long period of time, depending on what you need.

After working with your guides, it’s time to start applying what you now know to be true! Lean into the qualities that are in the highest good and in your best interest. You’re going to start approaching life in a different way and working on owning your power in both capacities. When you own your power in light and shadow aspects, when you truly know yourself, that’s when the magic happens.

Remember through your journey that it is going to require consistent attention, energy, and focus. Be willing to love yourself, call yourself out when needed, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

[46:07] How to receive a reading on the podcast

We will be holding live Mediumship readings throughout this season. If you’re interested, sign up for the newsletter and look out for email alerts inviting you to join us on the podcast for a live reading.
