In this episode Caleb talks with real estate investor and coach Mark Owens from Baltimore Maryland. Mark has built a very successful business which was born out of a past of drug addiction, multiple robberies, homelessness, and numerous prison sentences. Mark’s mindset in his teens and 20’s was that he would either overdose or get shot and die eventually. It wasn’t until Mark’s lawyer said something while he was in prison that woke him up. He said, “Mark, what’s wrong with you? Don’t you realize you are young enough to start a whole new life when you get out of here.” From that point on Mark began to change his thinking about himself, his circumstances and his future. Mark started a new life of educating himself and taking his negative thoughts captive. This new approach to life led him to his success today. Your story may not be like Mark’s but you will relate to his journey. We all face obstacles and have daily decisions that determines the course of our lives. We’re never too old to have a new life. In this episode of the podcast Caleb sat down at the end of 2020 with his life-long friend Albus Brooks. In this far ranging conversation Albus takes us on the journey of his life and the 'thread of his life's calling' that has guided him forward. Albus was an all-star football player on a trajectory to the NFL when an injury ended that dream in college. After that setback Albus moved into one of the toughest neighborhood in Denver and invested in the lives of young African-American boys through the ministry of Young Life. After seven fruitful years this work propelled him into politics where he won a city council seat in the largest municipal election in history where he ran against 37 other candidates was the youngest African-American ever elected. He rose to become the President of Denver City Council for two terms. He also served as the Director of the Issachar Center for Urban Leadership and as the Outreach and Political Director for John Hickenlooper’s Colorado Governor’s campaign. After the disappointment of losing a bid for a third council term Albus became the VP of Strategy and Development for Milender White where he continues to follow the 'thread of his calling' -- servant leadership & community development. This conversation has so much insight & inspiration (and a few humorous stories of Albus and Caleb's friendship along the way)!

Forgiveness. Deep down most of us know it's the "right" thing to do but it's so difficult to extend to people. This process will literally change your life and has the power to change the world.

Everyday we are confronted with having to make decisions. In our present reality with an uncertain post-Covid future, many of us are facing some pretty big decisions which are overwhelming at times. In this episode of the podcast Caleb lays out 7 practical steps to help us make those decisions. These steps will help you move you from worry to wisdom and prayer to peace.
DISCUSSION GUIDE: https://bit.ly/MakingBigDecisions
One of the most famous stories in the ancient scriptures is about Jesus healing a paralyzed man whose friends brought him to Jesus in a very dramatic fashion. But, one of the accounts of this miraculous incident leaves out some of the most dramatic details. Why would the writer, a disciple of Jesus named Matthew, do this? What was he communicating to the religious establishment of his day? What is this story communicating to us in the era of Covid-19? What does this story have in common with the movie, "The Matrix?" Caleb answers these questions and encourages us to see our present reality in a new way.
Discussion Guide: https://bit.ly/NoHouse
The Covid 19 pandemic has changed our world, including how we think about church and growing spiritually. In this episode of the podcast Caleb highlights a shift he sees in the way we view, experience and participate in church and community. While the large corporate church gathering has its place there is an ancient tried and true gathering that Jesus himself was a bigger fan of. It often shook up the religious establishment and showed everyone what God's Kingdom was really like...the dinner party! Listen to Episode 103, "First Dinner", as a companion teaching to this podcast.
DISCUSSION GUIDE: https://bit.ly/DinnerPartiesChurch
In this short bonus edition of the podcast Caleb encourages us to shift & reimagine the traditional (and often awkwardly formal) practice of communion to a gathering called "First Dinner". By regularly getting together with people over a meal, having fun and recognizing the work of God our faith and connection to others comes alive. Listen to Episode 104, "Dinner Parties & The Future of the Church" as a companion teaching to this episode.
The quarantine due to Covid 19 can be viewed as a time of isolation where you feel like your life is on hold OR it can be experienced like a 'cocoon'. God is using this time to birth something new. What will be different about your life? What will emerge once this crisis has passed?
In this episode of the Spirit Farm Podcast Caleb interviews Sarah Bryant. Sarah's story is rooted in the trauma of loss, drug addiction, and an abusive relationship. Sarah grew up in church believing in God but spent years angry and running from Him. From an early age she displayed a gift and ability to see the spiritual realm that surrounds all of us. For years the darker side of this spiritual reality tormented her and kept her in pain with emotional grief. In this honest and fascinating conversation Sarah shares her story and the freedom she found after learning the true character of God. She also talks about her work and ministry helping others experience deliverance from the things that weigh them down while helping us all understand more clearly the misunderstood and often misrepresented spiritual dimension. For more information about Sarah and her ministry go to joyandhoperestored.org
As Jesus was being crucified two criminals also hung on crosses next to him. One hurled insults and condescending questions at him. The other experienced peace and a promise from Christ that he would be paradise with him that very day. One often portrayed as 'saved' the other 'condemned'. In this teaching, Caleb believes the 'insult hurler' gets a bit of a bad rap. After all, most of us have the same kind of feelings & questions about God. Where is he? Why won't he change my circumstances? Why is there so much pain? Does all 'this' simply end in death? These questions are all answered by what transpired on that first Easter. And the question Jesus asks us all to reflect on this Easter is, "How's your soul"?

The world is in the middle of a global pandemic. People are experiencing a wide range of thoughts and emotions. Fear and anxiety simmer right below the surface and it’s difficult not find yourself in a constant state of worry. Inner peace seems impossible. In Matthew chapter 6 Jesus says, “Do not worry.” When we hear this statement, most of us think, “Thanks Jesus, but that is easier said than done, especially during this time.”
In this episode, Caleb shows us that inner peace is possible. There is a “road to peace” that we often overlook which precedes this famous statement of Jesus. There are practical things we can do daily that make it possible to leave worry behind and experience true and lasting peace, regardless of our circumstances…present or future.
