The transparency of our grief when shared helps others find their way through their own grief journey. I examine and share my grief to learn and understand me, Donna, love, and others. I, in a way, am an advocate for grief and our collective need to share. I root for my grief and yours. Not for the pain but the window of light it can allow in.
Began with home hospice but never made it. Combination of me and donna. Not sure the clinical team had faith in me or my situation. Got the bed and supplies but recommendation was in the unit.
Hospice is about dying well. There is no good death any death is bad and painful but dying well surrounded by friends family loved ones changes the dynamic for both the patient and the family. It makes the time to the finite end better and kinder and comfortable but more important is the time after death.
The final week to ten days in hospice is pretty much a blur and mass of shifting images in my mind. Emotions that still choke me. During that time I was trying to keep myself busy. Again trying to will my way though this with activities around hospice and donna. I filled the day the night going to hospice to be with donna and start again the next day. Ground hog day in hell.
This is Part 2 of a two part interview with Alan Gross and Jane Townsend. Alan and Jane are two of the four founding partners at GrossTownsendFrankHoffman. GTFH was an agency I was lucky enough to work at for over five years during the mid to late eighties.

Create a narrative a story and place in the world where the memories and grief exist. To get grief right. Own it live it be proud that you can find it’s meaning and place in your world your life your context.

Love, Loss & Grief: A Podcast RSS This is an older podcast from a previous site. The truth be known it still works. These early podcasts are with a Hospice Social Worker I met Carolyn. We both share a common belief that hospice and end-of-life are critical for both those who are dying and their loved ones.
