I have a friend that’s gone home, and I hated to say goodbye. Larry Rollins was a friend of mine and we spent a lot of time together. Larry and his wife Faith, went on cruises with Rosie and I and spent some time fishin’ at his lake home. We traded ideas and tools, jokes and a few beers. They came to a few music festivals of one kind or another and stayed in our trailer, played cards and laughed so hard we got headaches ( well maybe that was the beer.). I went to see him to say goodbye but there wasn’t much to say he was pretty drowsy from meds, but I hope he knew, at least I was there. So I thought of this song written by Tony Joe White.

I wanted to sing it to him but couldn’t so I hope this will do.

A Merle Haggard tune recorded late in his career. For some reason I wanted to record my version (Not sure Why).

Hiram (Hank ) Williams found this song and insisted on recording it though his manager hated it. Turned out to be one of his best though he didn’t write it.
