In our final Madison Taxi Basketball Game of the Week, it didn't disappoint. Stoughton had a 2 point lead at half time. Monona Grove tied it on free throws with 16 seconds remaining in the game. In our Madison Taxi Game of the Week, the Middleton Cardinals looked to build on their current win streak and remain near the top of the Big 8 conference. Madison West traveled to Middleton tonight in a conference battle. The Cardinals jumped out to a 9-0 lead early on, and carried an 8 point lead into halftime. The Regents climbed back to within 3 midway through the 2nd half, but then Middleton pulled away down the stretch. Cardinals G Sam Close finished with 28 points in the victory. On a snowy Friday night in the Madison area, the Spartans and Lancers weren't going to let the weather stop them from battling for 2nd place in the Big Eight. Memorial opened the game with a barrage of points. then La Follette clawed their way back to take a 2 point lead into half time. The Lancers opened the 2nd half with some hot shooting beyond the arc, but the Spartans kept the game within reach. Memorial F Nick Caropreso hit 2 clutch free throws to tie the game with 23 seconds left. La Follette SG Troy Reeves Jr. found himself open and hit the game winning jumper with 2 seconds left. Week #5 of the Madison Taxi Game of the Week featured a Big Eight conference battle between Sun Prairie and Middleton. In front of a packed gym at Middleton, both teams were a little sluggish to start. Defense played a key in the first half as Sun Prairie took a 4 point lead into Halftime. In the 2nd half, big defensive plays led to even bigger points on the other end as each team traded leads down the stretch. Middleton hung on to secure the win. Middleton 62, Sun Prairie 60.
Week #4 of the Madison Taxi Game of the Week featured a non-conference battle between McFarland and Monona Grove. In front of a packed house in Monona Grove, both teams took several trips up and down the court early to find their rhythm and the first points. Once they settled in, the fast-paced game took over from there. The Silver Eagles used a balanced attack from all over the court to take a 2 point lead into half time. The Spartans came out strong to start the 2nd half and took the lead. The two teams slugged it out down the stretch trading points with each possession. In the end, McFarland took advantage of a few miscues and a double-double by Trevon Chislom helped secure the win. McFarland 74, Monona Grove 66
Week #3 of the Madison Taxi Game of the Week featured a Big Eight conference battle between Madison East and Sun Prairie. The Purgolders came into the game undefeated and the Cardinals only had 1 loss. In a defensive scuffle as the two teams tried to outsmart each other in the 1st half, Sun Prairie took a 2 pt lead into halftime. Madison East opened up the 2nd half with a run to take the lead. Several attempts by Sun Prairie down the stretch weren't enough to push the Cardinals back into the lead. Free throws would ice it for the Purgolders. Madison East 62, Sun Prairie 55.
Week #2 of the Madison Taxi Game of the Week featured a non-conference battle between 2 1-loss teams, Madison Memorial and Waunakee. The Spartans put the 1st 2 points on the board, but the Warriors controlled the ball thereafter and took a 6 point lead into halftime. At Halftime, we were able to catch up with Madison Memorial G Leilani Kapinus about her season ending injury. In the 2nd half, the offenses erupted. The Spartans took the lead early in the 2nd half. The two teams traded leads down the stretch, then Madison Memorial gained the upper hand with some solid defense and opportunities at the free throw line. Madison Memorial 64, Waunakee 54.
Week #1 of the Madison Taxi Game of the Week featured an intra-city battle between 2 undefeated teams, Madison Memorial and Madison East. In front of a raucous crowd, the Purgolders of Madison East unleashed a few quick buckets to take an early lead and carry a 9 point lead into halftime. The Spartans of Madison Memorial battled their way back to a lead midway through the 2nd half but couldn't hold off the Purgolders' pesky defense and opportunity scoring. Madison East runs away with it in the end to remain undefeated. Madison East 66, Madison Memorial 49.
Free throw shooting down the stretch vaulted the Silver Eagles to a 6 point win, 67-61, over the Stoughton Vikings. Monona Grove wins the Badger South conference title.
Tied at 13 a piece at the half, Sun Prairie's Marlon Ruffin erupted for 13 of his own in the 2nd half to help lead his team to a 41-32 victory over the Spartans of Madison Memorial.
The Cardinals took a 45-27 into the halftime break and never looked back. Sam Close led a balanced attack with 19 points as Middleton beat Madison West 86-64 at Madison West High School
Brady Sc hipper led all scorers with 16 points and 11 of his teammates tallied points as the Vikings pulled away in the 2nd half to beat the Crusaders 79-53.
Brogan Brunker leads all scorers with 24 pts and a double-double as the Cardinals beat the Purgolders 70-52 at Madison East High School.
The Falcons and Tyler Herro take on the Warriors in a Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shoot-out game in front of a standing room only crowd in the R. John Buuck Field House at Concordia University in Mequon, WI.
