Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today I speak on a topic that has always been important to Nathan and I. It's one that many parents may place on the back burner as we just try to juggle every day life of parenting and responsibilities. We all need to have a big picture of where we would like to see our life headed...on a personal as well as on a family level. Parenting never quite slows down regardless of us thinking, 'maybe in the next stage, I'll find more time'. Instead we need to change our mindset and think, 'how can we make this work?' What shifts need to occur when I know this can bring a greater good?
So grab a seat by the fire as I discuss the importance of keeping our inner flame burning!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Madeleine and Amber from Barefoot University joining us. Amber and Madeleine were two homeschooling moms looking for a community to walk alongside them and their kid's zeal for nature while navigating homeschooling, parenting, and life.
That’s when Barefoot University was born. Barefoot University follows the forest school principles for child led outdoor exploration, risk play, and nature-based skills. Along with these principles, Madeleine and Amber aim to create strong communities of families who enjoy meeting together weekly, organize activities by focusing on yearly learning rhythms, and teach kids the importance of serving through community service projects.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and discuss how the magic happens when kids are outdoors in nature!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have two certified teachers joining us for the conversation, both of which are my sisters. Emily is a homeschool mom to 3 young boys with several years of experience, teaching at the Elementary level. And Paulette is mom to two and currently still teaches at the upper grade levels and has been for the past 15 years.
This is an episode from last year but we felt the topic is encouraging as well as one that is important. It stems from the common doubts we have in homeschooling our children. What if I fail my child? Can I do this? Am I qualified? Aren't the schools more equipped to educate my child? We have assumptions when it comes to many of these questions that aren't always true.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to Florida to debunk some of these doubts and fears!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Kelly Edwards joining us. Kelly is an entrepreneur, licensed foster parent, creator of the 90-Minute School Day, and homeschool mom to 3. Seven years ago when Kelly first began to homeschool, she tried to bring school home and the boxed curriculum was the teacher. She soon realized this was not going to work.
Through her real-life failures, connections with other families in similar straits, and the guidance of some amazing mentors; Kelly redefined what she wanted homeschool to be like for her family. This is where the 90-Minute School Day was born.
Through this lifestyle approach to education, Kelly’s method connects children with learning in their natural environment: at home with their family. This method guides the homeschooling parent with a framework and system that will spark imagination, ignite wonder, and inspire your whole family to adventure.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to the mountains of West Virginia and discuss how to detox and launch our new diet of learning naturally in our homeschools!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Tiffany from Hinterlife Homeschool joining us. Tiffany is a business owner, founder of Freely and homeschool mom to two. She is passionate about child-led learning, supporting small businesses, growth mindset, and living a purposeful life without clutter and overwhelm. After a year of trial and error of trying to find the right tool to help organize their family’s lifestyle, she realized it didn’t exist.
She began to see a common need amongst other homeschoolers; ones that approached homeschooling as a life choice rather than just an education pathway. That’s when Freely was born. Through the creation of Freely as well as YouTube videos, Tiffany is following her passion of helping others.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to Australia to discuss how you can prioritize and enjoy what matters most in your unique, crazy, messy, adventure-seeking homeschool!
Quick reminder. With Fall approaching and the leaves changing, we are excited to announce the release of our Free Ultimate Family Camping/Outdoor Checklist! Nathan and I have been camping for years with and without kids. So we put together this checklist in hopes to help other families wanting to get out and camp more. See link below for download.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Jen Myers joining us. Jen is an entrepreneur, founder of Homeschool CEO, and longtime homeschool mom. Over the past 17 years, she has homeschooled 4 kids while building 3 multi-six figure businesses. It all started in 2004, when her life came to a crossroads. The traditional school system wasn’t working for her family, and their second grader and preschooler needed more than the school system could provide.
Back then, homeschooling wasn’t even on their radar and they had a thriving automotive repair shop. Was it even possible to be successful at BOTH homeschooling and entrepreneurship? Through a crazy turn of events, Jen decided to try out homeschooling. She quickly learned that running both the business and homeschool was possible AND she didn’t have to feel guilty about it. That’s why Homeschool CEO was created. To connect, empower, and inspire women who are building more than a side hustle, all while educating the next generation of leaders, who will change the world.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to Iowa and discuss how you can homeschool and build a wildly successful business AT THE SAME TIME!

Today we have Erin Loechner joining us. Erin is a bestselling author, founder of Other Goose, and homeschooling mom of 3. After traveling the world and searching for an all-inclusive classroom that valued play, freedom, and structure, Erin discovered the solution in her own backyard: homeschooling.
But when the time came to choose an educational plan for her kids under the age of 7, the search wasn’t so simple. Where was the methodology that valued all philosophies of learning? Where was the boxed curriculum that didn’t box out the parent? Where was the simple homeschooling strategy that held space for open-ended discovery?
Other Goose was born from these questions. Together with a team of thought-leaders, childhood development experts, research scholars, and environmentalists, Erin welcomes all learners.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to the Midwest to discuss simple and fun homeschooling for the early years!
Quick reminder. With Fall approaching and the leaves changing, we are excited to announce the release of our Free Ultimate Family Camping/Outdoor Checklist! Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Lewis Ames and Gemma Southerden joining us. Lewis and Gemma are qualified Forest Leaders and the directors of Children Of The Forest. They are both former teachers who have gone into business together to focus on what they are passionate about: giving children and families meaningful learning and play experiences, in the great outdoors. Tucked away on their beautiful, private 3 acres of Gaddon Woods, they run weekly sessions where children can explore and follow their own learning journeys. Their mission is to give children real skills, real freedom in their play, and to reconnect families with nature.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to the UK and discuss the importance of meeting children where they are and allowing them to progress holistically at their own pace.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Robyn Robertson, from Honey I'm Homeschooling The Kids, joining us. Robyn is an unschooling mom to two kids, local school board trustee, and advocate for self-directed learning.
Growing up, Robyn lived and travelled to different countries. She knew that her early travel experience had given her a viewpoint on life unlike many others around her. As a mom, she wanted to share that with her growing family.
After years of “dreaming” with her husband to leave the rat race and return to a life of travel and more family time, they decided that waiting “until...” would never happen and they took the plunge.
They spent the next several years traveling the world. At first, their decision to homeschool was solely for the purpose of travel. However, that quickly evolved into more.
It was the many experiences of life and travel that changed their idea of learning. Robyn started to let go and allowed her kids’ natural curiosity to shine. Their education has become an eclectic mix of many styles, but mainly unschooling.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to Alberta, Canada and discuss the beauty and freedom of raising self-directed learners and how it can help build family connection!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Welcome to Bite Size Wednesdays where we take a bite of life with a bite of your time. We will still continue to release 5 Minutes or Less whenever we have participants, but we had the idea to record mini episodes in between those on Wednesdays. And when we say mini, we mean mini lol. These episodes will probably range from 5-10 minutes in length and will cover a variety of topics. It may be on words of encouragement, helpful tips or hacks, a recipe we loved or anything we are currently loving, and maybe even after thoughts or reflections from a previous guest interview...the possibilities are endless!
If you would like to share a 'pro-tip' for the week, please send us an email or message us. There is so much out there we can all be sharing to help each other out.
So today on Bite Size Wednesdays, my sister Paulette will be sharing her parenting tip on the ‘if...then’ statement.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we are replaying an episode we felt would be perfect not only as we celebrate our Independence Day, but also to go along with our Home Education Series.
We have found a lot of families are asking about the different options available for their teens after graduation. College is not the only option, nor is it for everyone. So today we talk about a career in the military and some of the requirements to join. We try to speak generally since all services are different and everyone's experiences differ. I'm sure we missed something but we tried to hit on the important areas. If you do have a teen, stay tuned for more episodes later in the series. We will have guests on to speak about homeschooling highschool as well as transitioning to college for those who chose that path.
So grab a seat by the fire as we discuss what the military path can look like and the benefits it has brought for our family.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today I am introducing a series we have been working hard on and excited to finally launch it. Over the course of the next several months, we will be 'diving into home ed'. Each week from now until October, we will release an episode that discusses some of the main areas of home education. We will discuss alternative education, different styles and methods of learning, the high school years, transitioning to college, learning in the early years, planning your year, working while home schooling and more!
Our hope is to help new and current homeschooling families prepare for the upcoming school year. We have pulled a team of amazing speakers to join us on the show to discuss these different topics. They each bring with them experience and knowledge to help encourage and inspire each of us on our home education journey.
But come October, we will jump right back into the heart and soul of this podcast on speaking to families that are redesigning their family's lifestyle, to authors, and to professionals. So if those are the conversations you love, don't fret as we will return to them at the end of this series.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have homeschooling dad, Jake Suitter join us on the show. He’s a full-time adventure dad, wildshcooling his 3 active young boys. Jake was homeschooled himself, he has been a travel guide, built schools in the Alaskan bush, had a successful career in the oil industry, and eventually decided to leave that behind to be at home with his kids. So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to Denver, Colorado to speak with Jake about how homeschooling, adventures, and life experiences have shaped his philosophy on parenting and education.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have the pleasure of having Brice and Amanda Wurdeman join us for a conversation. Up until recently, they were the directors of Windward Islands School of Evangelism in Barbados. They are a homeschool family of 6 and are missionaries who have served in Haiti, the Island of St Vincent, and Barbados over the past 14 years. Life on the islands is all their kids have ever known up until this year as they will be moving back to the states. We love sharing yet another family's story of what this homeschooling lifestyle can bring. So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to the Island of Barbados and discuss their experience living overseas, serving as a missionary family, and educating their 6 children as they see fit.

So today on Bite Size Wednesdays, my sister Nina will be sharing a fun science activity you can do with your kids at home. It's a perfect summer outdoor activity.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today I have my older sister, Nina, joining me for a conversation as we wrap up another year of learning. Nina lives in Mississippi and homeschools her 3 kids using the Gather Round Curriculum for year-round schooling. I use the Charlotte Mason method as the backbone to our learning and follow a 36 week calendar with more of a relaxed and interest-led approach during the summer.
Today we recap on how our year went, using the curriculum and resources we did. We discuss what worked, what didn't work, and thoughts on what we might what to change. We also discuss plans for the summer.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to Mississippi to chat with my big sis about all things homeschool!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have the honor of having Dr. David Lancy join us for a conversation, and it is one filled with many 'golden nuggets'. David is an Emeritus Professor of Anthropology. He began college teaching at Cuttington College in the interior of Liberia in 1968 and subsequently taught at a Community College and at three universities.
Dr. Lancy has authored 5 books and his current research interests center on the anthropology of childhood. He has done fieldwork with children as the focus for extended periods in Liberia, Papua New Guinea and Mormon Utah; for shorter periods in Trinidad (Fullbright Fellow), Sweden (Fullbright Fellow), Uganda, Madagascar, and in urban schools in the U.S.
We discuss childhood in the indigenous cultures versus the WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, Democratic) society. David points out that in the village, youth have great autonomy and learning bouts are self-initiated rather than teacher or caretaker initiated. Learning is woven into the flow of daily life versus being encapsulated in formal lessons.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to Utah to speak to him about the lost art of self education and the anthropology of childhood learning!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we are busting an episode out of the vault. We've had a hectic week and are taking the weekend to enjoy family time and the outdoors with our Scout Troop. There will be a fishing derby, hiking, bottle rocket craft, and tent camping! Even though this episode is a replay, the conversation is a great one. We talk about the different ways you can learn and extend learning outside of the home. One of the main focuses is learning in nature and how you can add nature days to your home education in a simple way.
So grab a seat by the fire as you travel to our home in Ohio and discuss how learning does not just take place in 'the classroom'.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Zac, the creator of An American Homestead, joining us. Zac is a single father of two boys and an off grid homesteader homeschooling his kids. An American Homestead is a platform and YouTube channel dedicated to teaching modern homesteading.
This interview was livestreamed to his audience, or so we thought as there were some technical difficulties, but is available on his YouTube channel. We discuss how his choice to homestead and homeschool were not only about education, but also about celebrating the family unit.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel deep into the American Ozarks where we discuss homesteading, homeschooling, and how this lifestyle choice is all about the family!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have the pleasure of sharing with you our interview with the Chief Editor & Program Manager of It’s A Military Life, Jenna Soliani. We have been able to work with It's A Military Life on several projects, but this time they asked to interview us about our experience as a military homeschooling family, among other things. We think this conversation gives some good insight into our decision to make a lifestyle change that involved taking our children out of the traditional education system. Our goal was to create a lifestyle designed to bring more quality time, less stress, and a more flexible schedule. As a military family, we share how the fluidity of homeschooling has allowed us to travel and adjust to ever-changing schedules without missing a beat.
So grab a seat by the fire as we discuss our life as a military homeschooling family and how we use home education to design our family's lifestyle. Enjoy!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today's encouraging conversation is with Heather Creekmore. She is a homeschool mom of 4, blogger, public speaker, and author. Heather's focus is on the pitfalls of comparison and how an unhealthy obsession with looking at what we don’t have can lead to many issues that will eventually filter down to our children. So grab a seat by the fire as we discuss her book (The Burden of Better: How a Comparison-Free Life Leads to Joy, Peace, & Rest ), her struggles, and how happiness can be achieved by something as simple as gratefulness for a cup of coffee or time spent with family.

Hello everyone and welcome back to the campfire! Today we are taking you on our camping trip with us. We are currently camping in Ohio and it is our first time tent camping with the entire family. Nathan and I both grew up tent camping but for the last five years we have had a camper. As luck would have it, last winter a tree fell on our camper and we used that opportunity to try something different. We decided to purchase an old conversion van and buy a big tent. We wanted to be a little more flexible when it came to our next adventure. So today is our first time hitting the road and setting up a tent with all five of us and the dog ;)
We wanted to hit on the subject of building memories and moments for your children. What we are doing is very simple but they are the same memories that we both have from when we were little. We make a very conscious effort to give memories to our children and not THINGS. Camping is a beautiful experience that you can hand to your family. Trips and vacations do not have to be extravagant and overly expensive. You can keep it simple and the only person that knows that is you. Your kids look at the world with wonder. It's us as adults that are tainted through life. Lol. Don't project that on your kids. Remember to look at life through the eyes of a child and you will be blown away by the amazing thing that we call life.!
Thank you all for listening and please join us next week for another great conversation and interview. Have a great week!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have the pleasure of Dr. Jennie Germann Molz joining us for a conversation. Dr. Molz is a Professor of Sociology at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester Massachusetts and is the author of the newly released book, The World Is Our Classroom: Extreme Parenting and the Rise of Worldschooling.
Drawing on interviews with parents and stories from the blogs they publish during their journeys, as well as her own experience traveling the world with her ten-year-old son, she takes us inside a fascinating life spent on trains, boats, and planes. She shows why many parents―disillusioned with standard public schooling―believe the world is a child’s best classroom. Rebelling against convention, these parents combine technology and travel to pursue a different version of the good life, one in which parents can work remotely as “digital nomads,” participate in like-minded communities online, and expose their children to the risks, opportunities, and life lessons that the world has to offer. So grab a seat by the fire as we discuss how more and more families are choosing the world as their classroom!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today it's just Nathan and I. We woke up early on a Saturday morning to record with a cup of coffee. We wanted to talk about how to fill your cup. How do you recharge every day? What do you do to keep your energy level high and your internal fire burning? Today we discussed what we do and our routine for keeping our personal lives going strong in the midst of parenting and homeschooling.
To be great parents, especially homeschooling parents, you have to find ways to fill your cup everyday. To be the best you can be you have to fill your cup first and eventually it will overflow to the rest of your family and into the rest of your life.
We hope you all enjoy the conversation and that you can find ways in your own life to keep your cup full. Have a wonderful week.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Haley and Chad from All In Ollies joining us. Their story begins with Chad having a brush with death while flying, which led them to decide to prioritize things in their life. They took their children out of traditional school, eventually sold their home and most of their possessions, purchased an old school bus, and hit the road to start truly living. Their story shows us all how fragile life can be and that the best time to make a change and to put your family in the forefront of everything is today.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to Mexico to speak with the Ollingers about life's biggest lessons.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! On today's episode Nathan and I discuss what "Normal" means. As homeschoolers we are considered abnormal by most of society because we are still the minority when it comes to educating our children. We discuss how the world wants to give us a definition of normal in regards to education, finances, lifestyle, and just about everything else in our lives. Normal is whatever you decide it is and that does not have to look the same as the majority of others. We prefer to be abnormal when it comes to most of these categories and homeschooling is just the beginning. So if following the masses is not how you approach life, then grab a seat by the fire and join us in this conversation you will probably love!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! We are so excited to share today's conversation. We have Dr. William Jackson, AKA The Nomadic Professor, joining us. William has a BA in Asian Studies from Brigham Young University, a MA in Humanities from Pennsylvania State University, and a PhD in History from Syracuse University. He has been teaching as a university professor for almost a decade.
William has chosen to forego the traditional labor-for-tenure career track. He believes the internet holds the key to new forms of education that will, over time, erode and ultimately destroy traditional students in a brick-and-mortar-box education; and to this he says: "Hooray!" He grew up overseas and loves history. We speak about how he became a world nomad with his family in order to record history mini-lectures on-location that are available to students around the world. We talk about his family's worldschooling journey as well as the creation of his platform and what it has to offer students and adults. So take a seat by the fire as we travel to Idaho to discuss his story of re-imagining education.

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we are playing a special episode. Several months ago we had the honor of being interviewed by Emily from the Untaming Podcast. So, we reached out and asked if we could use her audio. She was kind enough to let us use it and share it with all of you.

Hello everyone and welcome back to the campfire! Today joining us are Keith and Renee, the creators of the platform, Sailing Zatara.
Several years ago after a successful career, accumulating material possessions, and finding that happiness was not on the other side of money, Keith and Renee decided they needed a change. Their family of six left their Texas home with virtually no boating experience, and took off on a sailboat for a journey around the world and are still on that journey today.
So grab a seat by the fire as we travel to Australia and listen as they tell a story about family, their passion for homeschooling, and how sometimes you just need to put fear aside and go on an adventure that will last a lifetime!

Hello and welcome back to the campfire! Today we have Tara and Jared from The Classroom Less Travelled joining us for a conversation. Several months ago they decided to sell their home, get rid of many of their belongings, and take their three children on an adventure of a life time. They purchased a van and have been touring the backroads of America to explore, experience, and teach their children about this amazing part of the world. Although it all hasn’t been easy, they show us how being a little uncomfortable can be a life lesson all on its own. Hello and welcome back! Today we have Vanessa, the creator of Vanessa's Holistic Living, joining us. She is a Waldorf inspired homeschool mom, US veteran, Military Spouse, and minimalist. She also has an educational background in health and wellness, and has a passion to lead her family and others in living a more holistic lifestyle.
Vanessa and her family have moved and shuffled around the country due to her husband’s military career. In each new location she has brought a positive growth mindset allowing her to develop groups and organizations that didn’t exist when she arrived. Her positive attitude towards life and her entrepreneurial qualities have helped hundreds of families to find community in areas where it didn’t exist. She has left each place better than when she arrived and shares how this outlook on life is all part of her child’s education.
So grab a seat by the fire and join us as we discuss this homeschool mama's amazing journey!

Today I spoke with my sister and cousin about how our homeschool year is going. I always like to take a step back and evaluate how my plans are working out mid-year. I think we all know what happens to 'plans'. We spoke about how everything is going as new homeschooling moms, finding our rhythm, and some of our curriculum and resources that we are using.
So grab a seat and join us as we find inspiration and encouragement amongst one another.

In today's episode we had the honor of speaking with journalist and author, Linda McGurk! Linda blogs over at Rain or Shine Mamma and is the author of 'There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather: A Scandinavian Mom’s Secrets for Raising Healthy, Resilient and Confident Kids (from Friluftsliv to Hygge)'.
When Linda moved from Sweden to Indiana, she quickly learned that the nature-centric parenting philosophies of her native Scandinavia were not the norm. In Sweden, children play outdoors year-round, regardless of the weather, and letting babies nap outside in freezing temperatures is common and recommended by physicians. Preschoolers spend their days climbing trees, catching frogs, and learning to compost, and environmental education is a key part of the public-school curriculum. In the US, McGurk found the playgrounds deserted, and preschoolers were getting drilled on academics with little time for free play in nature. And when a swimming outing at a nearby creek ended with a fine from a park officer, McGurk realized that the parenting philosophies of her native country and her adopted homeland were worlds apart.
Struggling to decide what was best for her family, McGurk embarked on a six-month journey to Sweden with her two daughters to see how their lives would change in a place where spending time in nature is considered essential to a good childhood. (Description from Amazon)
After reading her book her philosophy, ideas, and thoughts have become an inspiration to us and our entire family. During our conversation we spoke about the importance and culture of the outdoors, teaching children to respect nature, and how we as parents are essential when it comes to creating a positive mindset for our children and their love of wild places. Linda was such an amazing and gracious person to speak with and we hope you enjoy this as much as we did. So grab a seat and join us as we get inspired to not just survive the season but to embrace it!

Today we spoke with S. D. Smith! He is the author of The Green Ember Series, a bestselling middle-grade adventure saga. The Green Ember has reached hundreds of thousands of readers and spent time as the number one bestselling audiobook in the world on Audible. Smith’s stories are captivating readers across the globe who are hungry for “new stories with an old soul.”
It was such a pleasure speaking with Sam. We are huge fans of his books and our kids (elementary age) hang on every word. Getting to know him a little better through this conversation just solidified us as fans of him and his work. He was such a funny, entertaining, and humble person that we will be life long readers of anything that he creates. We hope you will be as well!

Today we spoke with Brittany, the creator of Farm to Table Mama and the YouTube channel, Honey I'm Homestead. Her and her family have spent the last five years learning to grow their own food and be self sufficient. They sold their home, payed off debt, left corporate America, and are now building a new off-grid homestead from the ground up! They are currently living in their camper on 9 acres while they build their new home. For the time being they are without a water source or electricity. This is their story of making the decision to change their family's future and to raise and educate their children as they see fit.
We hope you enjoy this inspiring conversation as much as we did! Grab a seat and join us as we discuss one family's mission to living out their dream, despite the hardships and sacrifices that come with it.

Today's episode is a repeat from last year. We felt it was perfect after our family's first Polar Bear Plunge in Lake Erie! (Kids included) Water temperature was about 43 degrees Fahrenheit, and it was invigorating.
In this episode we discuss the Winter Blues and how to embrace Winter. We talk about what you can do to stay busy and active so you don't get down or depressed during the winter months.
What fun adventure or challenge will you and your family create this Winter?

Hello everyone and welcome back! Today we have Emily from the Untaming Podcast joining us. She is a Homeschool Mama to 2, carries a degree in psychology, is a world traveler, and seeks to prioritize the biological, evolutionary, and physiological needs of children through the process of Rewilding. Emily has traveled to 46 countries, and currently resides in New Zealand. She has lived off grid with her family in Portugal in a home completely rebuilt by her husband. She has been an international classroom teacher, a live in and live out nanny, and a mental health support worker for teenagers and adults.
Our discussion spanned from her and her husband's travels across Europe, what Rewilding is and what it looks like with her family, and how life experiences supersede the pursuit of money and material goods.
We truly enjoyed this conversation with Emily. She was open and honest about her life which we truly appreciate.
So grab a seat and join us as we discuss one family's mission to Rewild the Child.
We hope you enjoy!

Hello everyone and welcome back! Today Nathan and I are flying solo as we reflect on all that we can be thankful for, as we recorded this on Thanksgiving Day. This year has been different for all of us and to top it all off, we've had a streak of unfortunate events in our family lately. We speak about some of these events, what we are doing to keep a positive mindset (some of which may sound funny to other people ), and how to tackle and embrace the season of winter rolling in.
So grab a seat and join us for inspiration in creating a holiday and winter season to remember for our families.

Hello everyone and welcome back! Today we have Bryanna from Crazy Family Adventure joining us. She is an Unschooling Mama to 4, entrepreneur, and creator of Crazy Family Adventure. Six years ago, Bryanna and her husband Craig decided to sell EVERYTHING and move into an RV to travel full time. Their goal is to enjoy each other, focus on the moment, and spend as much time together as they can while spreading the word that you can truly deepen your family bond through travel.
Our discussion spanned from their decision to leave a seemingly normal life, moving into an RV and traveling full time, Unschooling their children, and the trials, tribulations, and rewards of living a life on the road.
We truly enjoyed this conversation with Bryanna as she is a very open and genuine person.
So grab a seat and join us as we discuss one family's mission of family, freedom, and travel.
We hope you enjoy!

Welcome back and thank you for joining us! Today's episode is on a topic that is dear to our hearts and that is, your identity and finding ways to keep your identity flame burning. With the daily roles and responsibilities we have towards our family, homes, and educating our children or going to work, it's so easy to fall into the trap of forgetting about numero uno (you). We need to keep in mind that these seasons in life are not forever. Things will change and when they do, will you still feel confident in knowing who you are? Are you taking time for yourself right now?
So grab a seat and join us as we discuss how to focus on yourself and your own passions. By doing so, we feel that you will become a better version of yourself.
We hope you enjoy and find inspiration.

Welcome back and thank you for joining us! On today's episode, we spend time with the Lawrence family as they share their inspiring homeschooling story. From making the decision to remove their son from public school to embarking on a journey of unknowns, parents Kemiko and Mark knew that their son Anthony's best interest lay at home with them. After graduating from homeschool Anthony has gone on to become the first African American male officer to graduate from the Air Force's Pilot Training Next Program. His story is one of encouragement and should inspire every one of us who homeschools their children. It helps remind us all that anything is possible and that just because one system fails us another is waiting to embrace are true talents. We hope you enjoy this amazing conversation! That wasn't the first time we've been asked this question so we figured it was time to create an episode on the topic. We tried to be as transparent as possible so you can have a real idea of how money gets spent in our family. We have found that with a purposeful plan, you can attain an affordable quality education.

Welcome back and thank you for joining us today! Today's episode is a lengthy one but well worth your time. It stems from the common doubts we have in homeschooling our children. What if I fail my child? Can I do this? Am I qualified? Aren't the schools more equipped to educate my child? We have assumptions when it comes to many of these questions that aren't always true. Today we chat with Paulette and Emily, 2 certified teachers, to help debunk some of these doubts and fears. Our hope is to encourage homeschooling families as well as those considering home education as an option. Together we can embark on this journey, and what a beautiful journey it is. This week we discuss thankfulness and gratitude in uncertain times. We talk about how it is up to you to be thankful for all the things in your life. Even in hard times there are always things to be grateful for because we are all blessed in many ways. We asked family and friends to tell us a little about how things have changed for them and what they are still thankful for. Each one recorded their own thoughts and shared them with us. Gratefulness is a mindset and it is your choice on how you want to approach this difficult situation. Do you want to be the light that shines in others lives or do you want to be the one who exudes pity and despair. We challenge you to be the light. We hope you enjoy and that it reminds you of what you are all thankful for, even the little things that each day brings. Homeschooling has taught us to enjoy the little moments and we hope that you can do the same. Join us on Instagram to post something each day that you are grateful for with #7daysofgratitude2020.

Today we speak about COVID-19. We talk about some of the facts that we know of now, some of the precautions we can all take, and some of the measures that are being taken worldwide. We discuss the domino effect of the national emergency, our similar experiences with the hurricanes in Florida, and some great ideas and resources for not only homeschooling families but those that have been thrust into the homeschooling world. We know that this is a very serious and stressful situation for many but we also want to make sure that people are keeping level heads and keeping their humanity. Panicking and altering the way that we treat people is not the answer. Lets all get through this together and maybe, just maybe, some great things will come from this. Families being together and realizing how precious this time together is and also how fragile the world as we know it really is. Have a great week and enjoy your family. Helpful Links Below

Pick up a book and read together as a family and travel to distant countries, meet world leaders, and blast into far away galaxies. All these adventures are just a turn of the page. We have found a lot of families are asking about different career fields for their high schoolers. They are interested in certain areas but don't know much about them. We decided to start doing some career spotlight episodes to shed some light on different opportunities after graduation. Today we talk about a career in the military and some of the requirements to join. We try to speak generally since all services are different and everyone's experiences differ. I'm sure we missed something but we tried to hit on the important areas. We hope this helps and if you have any questions please send us an email at thehomeschoolprojectpodcast@gmail.com. If you are in the military and have something else that you love about the military send an email and we can add it to the next show. Also follow us on Instagram at homeschool_project_podcast. Enjoy!
