The first proposed (tabled before Indian Army) unit acting as organic-intelligence-support for Battalion..manned by the Battalion's infantry riflemen , not by soldiers with intelligence military occupational speciality. Actionable intelligence is highly perishable , the kill chain from sensor to shooter must be reduced to the minimum.Pushing int capability to the ground enables this and shapes the battle space , increases the situational awareness of both the Bn CO and higher HQs. Force Protection is addressed effectively
The importance of Counterintelligence in Force Protection.But we must first clearly remove the confusion between HUMINT and Counterintelligence ..we can then only apply either to their specific service domains.We will see that Counterintelligence is a HUMINT-asset based war-fighting domain , not a subset of HUMINT..more importantly it is the Commanders tool to penetrate the enemy's decision making cycle.For Force Protection it is INDISPENSABLE.
