On March 30, 2024 Salvatore Di Vittorio’s orchestral Sea Fanfare “on a theme by Monteverdi” will receives its Connecticut Premiere with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony led by their Music Director Toshiyuki Shimada. The work was commissioned by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra, for the centennial of Balboa Park and the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in 2015. Salvatore Di Vittorio’s conducting debut with the Teatro Massimo Opera Orchestra at its opera house in Palermo was extraordinarily successful. The much awaited for performance was sold out one week before the concert date, between the evening’s featured artists including Di Vittorio also the commissioned composer dedicating his Viaggi di Enea (Voyages of Aeneas) to the Teatro Massimo and its concertmaster Salvatore Greco’s 30th anniversary. Di Vittorio also made a bit of history by showcasing John Williams’ Star Wars Suite in Palermo for the first time. The performance was truly stellar, and the conductor and orchestra found a home with their collective music making.
La Repubblica wrote “Viaggi di Enea (Voyages of Aeneas) is a beautiful, tonal and challenging work especially in the virtuosic finale, dedicated to the Teatro Massimo Opera Orchestra and for the 30th anniversary of their concertmaster Salvatore Greco. Entrusted by Respighi’s heirs, Di Vittorio’s program sheds light on Respighi celebrating 15 years of his published restorations under Panastudio / Casa Ricordi.” This was followed by an article in Giornale di Sicilia ““Commissioned by the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, violin solo of Viaggi di Enea (Voyages of Aeneas) has the role which in Berlioz’s Harold in Italy features the viola, where the hero’s identity recurs in each movement as a unified musical theme. With his prized restorations and recordings, Di Vittorio has been recognized among the principal scholars and interpreters of Respighi’s music.”

On January 5, 2023, Salvatore Di Vittorio will make his conducting debut with the Teatro Massimo Opera Orchestra in a program featuring the World Premiere of Viaggi di Enea (Voyages of Aeneas), commissioned by the opera house in favor of their concertmaster Salvatore Greco. The program includes Respighi’s Fountains of Rome alongside the early Berceuse, one of Di Vittorio’s restorations of early Respighi, and John Williams’ Star Wars Suite. https://www.teatromassimo.it/event/concerto-di-vittorio-greco/
Then, on April 14, 2023, Di Vittorio will repeat the entire musical program with violinist Salvatore Greco at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall, for the orchestra’s 15th Anniversary Concert.

In April of 2022, Salvatore Di Vittorio recorded two of his restorations of Respighi’s mezzo songs with Chamber Orchestra of New York for Naxos Records, which will be world premiere recordings. The titles include Respighi’s rare orchestration of Claudio Monteverdi’s Il Lamento di Arianna (Ariadne’s Lament) and Respighi’s own Tre Liriche (Three Art Songs) – both, restorations that Di Vittorio completed and published in Italy as part of the 2008 Respighi family commission.
Two of the Three Art Songs were originally championed by Luciano Pavarotti prior to the Respighi family contacts discovering the original three-song opus. Di Vittorio’s autograph manuscripts of these very completions are now preserved in the prestigious music archive of The Morgan Library & Museum for future generations of music scholars.
The Naxos album is expected to be released in 2023.

On Friday, September 17, 2021, Chamber Orchestra of New York premiered Salvatore Di Vittorio’s Larchmont Harbor under the composer’s direction, in honor of the 130th anniversary celebration of the Village of Larchmont in Westchester, New York. Originally scheduled for an outdoor concert at Larchmont’s Constitution Park, the performance took place at Kenny Hall of St. Augustine Church.

Then, in October of 2021, Larchmont Mayor Lorraine Walsh honored Salvatore Di Vittorio by entering the autograph manuscript and published orchestral score (and parts) of Larchmont Harbor into the village’s historical archive.
