Have you ever wondered why in the storms of life we cry out to God for help?? Difficulties in life often take our focus off the things in our lives that really don't matter and focus us on Christ; when we are in the storms Jesus becomes the ultimate reference point.
With the full Gospel latent within every believer, once unleashed, we are able to make ourselves significantly useful in the lives of every person we know, to bring the power and benefits of the Gospel to bear on the most important areas of their lives. Such a spread of the Gospel can “go viral” when it is moving life-by-life through the natural relationships we already have.

We expect that when God speaks to us that it's going to be in a big booming voice when in fact He speaks in a quiet whisper. We need to quiet ourselves from the busy life we live and listen for Him to speak.
The Kingdom Part II is the story of David and Bathsheba. What was the difference between the way God viewed Saul and David after they both sinned? Saul had a hardened heart and David had a heart of repentance.

This is the only commandment not emphasized by Jesus’ teaching nor singled out in the New Testament epistles. Is it therefore antiquated by the age of grace we live in? Jesus taught that man was not created for the Sabbath but vise-versa… Sabbath was given to man. How can we benefit from honoring this precept? What are the principles of a true Sabbath rest? What does the Sabbath look like in the context of 21st century NoVa? What does this command reveal about God’s nature?
Worship and allegiance to God while acknowledging our Christian obligation to submit and pray for Government. How can Christ-followers be salt and light as Americans without falling into 2 equal and opposite traps. Patriotism becomes Idolatry or Indifference toward engaging and influencing culture by assuming our full freedoms. (Prayer for Nation)
Why is God so concerned over marital promises? What is really at stake when we fail to recognize the sacredness of holy matrimony, the special union between a man and a woman?
During this teaching time we look at the psychology of a lie. What provokes this behavior, what reinforces this behavior, what is the ultimate fallout of this behavior etc… Why is honesty always the best policy?
Are there grey areas when it comes to this commandment? Most people would say yes. However, when it comes to suffering personal loss by another person taking what’s “rightfully” yours and the cries begin. Biblically, what constitutes as stealing? What constitutes property? (physical, intellectual, copyrights, etc…)
Humans fall into coveting because we have a sin nature that is self-centered and justifies entitlement. Christians most often struggle with coveting out of a distorted view of God and a misunderstanding regarding identity as our perfect Father. We comply with this commandment when by faith we chose to believe in God’s perfect parenting skills and righteous benevolence toward His children.

If we are truly hungry for authentic spirituality, we need to realize that it is not a spectator sport. Simply going to church, and sitting in rows, observing what happens on stage is not authentic spirituality. Rather, it is only a catalyst. This morning we will be challenged by a guest speaker, David Nicotra, to step into, with all we are, a life lived in Christ, authentically, spiritually. (Introduction by Chris Eads)
We’ve heard the concept of Jesus as Lord. Earlier in our Jesus Experiment series, we took several weeks to explore the idea of Jesus as Lord, and our call to commit ourselves to living out the will of God. Beyond the responsibility to yield ourselves to commitment and obedience to Jesus, there is an active role that Jesus takes in providing leadership and oversight to all the aspects of our lives. In scriptures, Jesus is called Lord, Judge, King, and the Head of the Church. It becomes so much easier to yield ourselves to God’s will when we understand the active role Jesus provides in leading us. We will discover a new comfort and strength to our daily lives when we see Him in these roles, and we partner with the energy and efforts that He exerts on our behalf.
We’ve all heard that Jesus died to take care of our sins. It’s the most central and powerful truth of the Christ-story. But what if we understood much more deeply what that really means to us today? Beyond taking care of the penalty of sins, Jesus stands positioned and active to mediate each issue in your life, to intercede over your circumstances, and to be the safest person in the world to take your troubles and hurts to. What if we could discover the trust and practice of going to Jesus as our priest, who will care for and love over our issues?
Jesus is identified in the scriptures as The Head of the Church. To a culture that is skeptical of organized religion, this should seem like good news to us. At the head of the real Church is not some group of political, power-hungry leaders. There is no scandal, no self-aggrandizing, no empire-building going on at the helm of the authentic Church. But that said, Jesus as the authentic head of His Body—of which you and I are a part—does call for some specific commitment and participation from each of us. We will explore what it means for us to step up to Jesus’ expectations of our life in the Body of Christ.
We think of experiences in terms of the progression of time. In other words, what is happening now happens first, and then what happens next comes next. We don't see what's next. We often fear what's next. We wonder what choices to make now to create a better outcome for what's next. And, the worst part of it all is when we cannot control what's next. There is an incredibly powerful reality to the fact that Jesus is right now in the present moment you live. But He is also simultaneously at the end of your issue, at the end of your trial, and even at the end of your life. Jesus is walking with you in the middle of your immediate moments, but is also living with you at the victory and solution of your troubles. The reality that Jesus lives beyond time can give us amazing hope that He is in fact sovereign over our days, and is a valid and victorious help to our immediate circumstances.
