Lillian Mitchell and Lucille Humphrey have both admired their sister, Tamela, as a political force that would pride herself on her community outreach in Akron, Ohio. This led to a group of Black Elected Officials targeting Tamela for her influence, using a smear campaign against her just days before an election. As Tamela serves a 5-year sentence, Lillian and Lucille are concerned about the lack of suitable healthcare available to Tamela, who suffers from ongoing heart complications.

Darin Adams and Darnell Worthy are two childhood best friends. However, life took them each down different paths after Darnell received a life sentence. After serving over 20 years, he was pardoned by President Obama and released early. Darin was instrumental in helping Darnell, and stood by his side the entire time he was inside through visits, phone calls and financial assistance. Now that Darnell is free, the new dynamic between him and Darin has been difficult to navigate.

At 21 years old, Ariel Mack moved from her home state of Texas to Atlanta, Georgia for a fresh start. She had come from a church-going family, but unfortunately got mixed up with the wrong people after her move to Atlanta. Ariel served four years in prison and has been able to move back to Texas since her release. She is now struggling to find and maintain work with a felony on her record.
Jimmie Gardner served 27 years behind bars for a crime he didn't commit. At a high moment in his baseball career, Jimmie was playing for the Chicago Cubs when he was accused of rape, with evidence of his DNA used to seal his fate. Originally sentenced to 110 years in prison, he worked feverishly and went through thirteen different attorneys to prove his innocence until finally he was exonerated just three years ago. To this day, Jimmie is still fighting for compensation from the state of West Virginia. He currently manages Gardner House Inc. which helps ex-cons assimilate into society.
Jimmie Gardner served 26 years for a crime he didn't commit, leaving his twelve year old brother Eric behind at the time. Eric remembers visiting his brother in prison as a child, and seeing the hardships he had to endure. This took a heavy toll on Eric, sending him down a path that led to heavy drug use. Now that Jimmie has been exonerated and the two brothers are reunited, it’s time to make up for lost time and begin to heal old wounds.
