Named after the founder of bourbon, Reverend Elijah Craig, this whiskey packs a 12 year age statement and is bottled at barrel proof without chill filtration. Three batches are put out every year, and this particular one is the first for 2023. Taking a closer look at the name A123, the “A” denotes that it is the first batch of the year, “1” is the month that it was released in (January), and “23” signifies the year it was released in. Elijah Craig Barrel Proof A123 is bottled at 125.6 Proof (62.8% ABV) and has a retail price of around $69.95 USD.

Art of Alchemy, a small collective of friends working with other friends in the industry to bottle unique spirits for all to enjoy. Lux Row Distillers recently announced the release of Old Ezra 7 Year Straight Rye Whiskey. But what does that mean? Well, Old Ezra 7-Year Rye features two rye mashbills (51% rye whiskey and 95% rye whiskey), is aged a full seven years and is bottled at full proof (114 proof, or 57% ABV). 3,000 six pack cases were released and this is at a suggested retail price of $79.99. Mike Ryan from Big Stick Bourbon and Semper Fi Spirits joins us to talk about their unique product. Big Stick Bourbon is unique because before bottling they add a charred New American White Oak Stick into every bottle. The bourbon to stick in bottle ratio is 99.8% equivalent to that of bourbon in a 53-gallon barrel. Similar to a “Double Oaked” whiskey, this added step allows their bourbon to integrate with new oak for a second time.

THE SPIRIT OF WOMEN is a female driven piece that takes an intimate look at the women paving the way for females in the male dominated world of whiskey and bourbon. The film will sit down with these trailblazing women, who are changing the entire landscape of the what the world thinks it knows about women and whiskey and most of them are the first in their field. This includes the first female bourbon taster in the world, the first female Master Distiller in Kentucky, the first female African-American Master Blender, the first female African-American CEO of any major spirit brand among others. We will also take on the important social issue of sexism, as well as how womens involvement in the alcohol industry has been buried throughout the ages.
