Brixton Jamm is a unique, multi-faceted venue offering a variety of purpose-built spaces for club nights. A staple party venue for South London, where they have welcomed some of the biggest artists in the world, to grace their stage over the last two decades! A concept contrived by a team of experienced clubbers and music lovers, for everyone to enjoy.
This is a live recording and BRIXTON JAMM requested a funky uplifting set. With that in mind, I put together, a selection of Funky and Jackin' House tracks, with a couple of well known classics.
This set is interlaced with Soul and Funk classics, guaranteed to make you dance.

Being able to connect with music lovers from home is so amazing. You're no longer alone and you can share your passion.
I’ve recently had some dark days, where I’ve not been able to reach out to my family or my dearest friends. I couldn’t even do the things that make me HAPPY! I couldn’t play or listen to music. This has been a very difficult period for me and I’ve found it so hard to speak out.
As part of my mindfulness, I try do as many things that I can, that make me happy and mixing music certainly does that. I woke up today and realised it was June 21st, the Summer Solstice, the longest day. With such an auspicious day and to make myself happy, I tried to mix a few tracks. Today was a good day … I felt like I was living and breathing this mix. For me, mixing is a deeply spiritual thing, the ultimate connection with music.
Doing this mix today, has somehow helped to defragment my mind. This is one of the best days I’ve had for a long time and Thank you to everyone that reached out to me. 🙏🏾

To celebrate their 1st Birthday, LOCKDOWNFM.LIVE hosted a virtual, musical, extravaganza over 3 days, involving in excess of 20 DJs from all over the UK.
Last year would have been very different for me without LOCKDOWNFM.LIVE. LDFM gave me something to focus on. It reignited my passion for DJing, after a 18 year hiatus. It’s such a great community, bringing together, like-minded, fun-loving people. I have reconnected virtually, with friends I haven’t seen for years and I have made many new friends. Massive thanks to the guys for setting it up in the first place, the many DJs and artists and of course the listeners and the dancers on the virtual dance floor!

I played from 18:00 - 19:00 (GMT) and it is an uplifting selection, of feel good tracks. The first quarter of this set is dedicated to the late, Aretha Franklin, RIP, the undisputed Queen of Soul and this set, is peppered with her amazing voice, as well as, other amazing vocalists.

Back in July 2020, a good friend asked me to do a mix for her. Chelsea went as far as providing me a playlist, which was most welcomed. I asked Chelsea to summarise this selection of tracks in word and this is what she said.
“All I can think to say is how I wish I could travel back in time. Those were the days when tunes were tunes. Each track takes me straight back to an amazing era and memories. When there was no agenda, no phones, just funky beats and harmony”

The Rhythm Doctor - Live at Tonic, Bognor, 15th August 1992.
The Rhythm Doctor had a residency and played every week at Tonic , in Bognor Regis on the South Coast. This is a mix originally on a cassette and it was digitised by my good friend Andy Campbell-Critchley, who had the foresight to preserve this amazing mix.
My friends and I have listened to this mix 100s of times collectively and there are some really special moments in this mix, When you listen to it, please bear in mind, it was done in 1992 and I have to say some of the mixing is first class and it's all done on vinyl, so you must truly appreciate what this guy is doing!
This is a LIVE set which fortunately includes the crowd, which takes this mix to another level and then there's the amazing MC. For me, this is as close to perfection that you can get.
This mix inspired me and my friends to buy two copies of the same track and experiment with the sounds, phasing, double beating and repeating. These days you can do all of this with a digital effects and although great' it simply does not have the same sound or effect as two vinyl tracks played together to create that effect.

On 23 March 2020, I went into 🔒 with the rest of Britain and I’ve remained isolated from family, friends and work colleagues for over 12 weeks. I’ve been lucky in that I’ve been working from home all that time but there is a cost to your mental health and well-being. This mix illustrates some of the crazy, dark and at times fearful places my mind has taken me. This is not my usual style of music but it is a manifestation of the impact 🔒 had on my mental health and my well-being.

A LIVE set recorded at LOVE DANCE POINT in Istanbul, Turkey.
This was the 1st time I'd played in an Islamic country and rather than play a hard, techno type set, which is what they were used to, I thought I'd make it soulful and full of LOVE.
Before I started my set, I noted that the majority of music being played was Turkish so I didn't really know what to expect. The promoter told me he was taking a gamble letting me play and he'd let me play for about an hour to see how it went. Anyway, 3 hours later, he came over to me and said I'd played a FAB set. It took the crowd about 40 mins to respond to my set - I guessed they hadn't heard this style of music before. One of the clubbers came over to me and said the last time he had heard music like this was in New York, I hope you enjoy this set too!
All tracks mixed are vinyl, as I love the feel and the sound they create as opposed to digital music.
