Hello I have a petry board in German Language. We are working on video and podcast presentations of poetry.
Trying to find my own style, I created my first track: much bass, mystical, with some dub effects and moderately crazy. I feel myself influenced by Roots Reggae and Nyabinghi. Therefore listen to the bongos talking to the snare and the bassdrum. You can listen to some 80's synthesizer emulations like Oberheim OB-Xa and Arp 2600, that give the product a specific touch, somehow vintage and ghosty. And so is my old world. The world I live in. I wonder, don't you got something longer or blacker? Something that can ruin my days even more?
I very like dub, reggae in general and dance hall music, i.e. "King Yellowman". Therefore I try to do the same thing. Because I'm situated in Germany and depend on Computers for music production (mostly linux and opensource) I also depend on creativity. It is kind of bedroom music. I hope you like it!
Heard It Through The Grapwine is one of Marvin Gay's greatest hits. This dub / danchall song is a lament about how this Soul King found his death. He was shot by his father with a pistol, he granted to him. In this lyrics the name Babaluga stands not only for his murderer but also for any supressors in the world. Kill the Babaluga! But not hatred is the message - one love, the first Rasta obligation.
A reggae and dub song and a ballad, matching the biblical story of Cain and Abel and the history of slavery, which manifests itself in Cape Coast Castle and the Door of no Return. It poses the question of how such injustice could be ever removed. Because history has a big impact on how Black people live today in the diaspora. Therefore Rastafari still claims for Repatriation and Reparation.
Not typical the reggae bassline, but funny. All done by Linux with Ardour, Rosegarden, Hydrogen, AmSynth, simulating a dub siren.

Lying at the beach last summer, toasted by the sun, one reggae riddim came into my mind. Later I took out my guitar and composed this love song for my lovely wife.
The Song is a tribute to Haile Selassie I. Many people, mostly Rastafarians worship him as the Second Messiah. Others are full of adminration like me, for what he has done not only for Ethiopa but also for Afrika and mankind. Always on the trail to find the right riddim. Reggae gives a good feeling. Dub means using delay, reverb, flange and tubbing. All done by myself in my homestudio.
