BRITISH TALKS Muchas opiniones se vierten sobre la Enseñanza Bilingüe, pero ¿qué opinan los verdaderos protagonistas? He preguntado al alumnado de 3º de ESO del programa MEC-British Council del IES Al-Qázeres y esto es lo que piensan sobre su experiencia educativa.
For me being part of the British Programme means an opportunity of learning english in many different aspects. The British Council tries to make you study as if you were a british student, so we learn a different culture and it can give us opportunities in the future due to the level that we can achieve. I think it is a way of improving this language, not only because of its level, but also because we have many subjects that help us to know a lot of new vocabulary and be more fluent.
As far I am concerned, being part of the British Council Programme has been and still is an extra help to improve my English language skills. Furthermore, this type of programme helps students to have more career opportunities in the future because we obtain a better English level. Although, the only small drawback of the project, In my view is that a little part of the Spanish vocabulary of subjects like biology or history is unknown for us. To conclude, this programme has influenced me by contributing to my academic development and knowledge of the language.
BRITISH COUNCIL PROGRAMME: To my mind, being part of the British Council Programme is very useful because learning English opens you a lot of doors to the future; for example: studying abroad. It is clear English is the best way to communicate with foreign people and you can use it all over the world, so thanks a lot to this programme to give me this opportunity. In all probability , it will be worth it.
Looking backwards, to my way of thinking, the British Council Programme has helped me to improve my skills and abilities in English. Despite there are more subjects in English, I had enjoyed learning it because I could take advantage of both subjects. If anyone has the chance or opportunity for being part of the programme, I strongly recommend to be integrated on it.

Since I was a child, I’ve been in the British Programme, so I’ve quite a large experience with this programme.
I think this project has opened a lot of doors for me and my classmates. Talking about learning, I can consider right now that I can speak English fluently and about mostly any topic because of the vocabulary I have. I know other people that they’ve limited topics to speak about because they’ve just learned simple words, but being in this programme allows you to have an extensive lexicon because we have other subjects in English too. The trips are very convenient to help us to come off and live at least a week in a whole inmersion talking about the English language.
Finally, learning about the English culture, the different pronunciations, the way they learn things in countries where English is one of the most spoken languages has been very interesting and I’ve liked a lot how the teachers of IES Al-Qàzeres, that is my school, have taught us from the very beginning. How they introduce us to the culture, and trying to think in English instead of just translating, I think they’ve done a really good job.
Being part of the British programme has a lot of advantages for example you can easily with people of other countries and it is really useful to find job in the future most of the jobs now a days is really necessary for example in any company more if those company treats about travel or trips but also learning English or any other language help us to train our brain know new vocabulary or maybe just for fun. I think enrolling in this programme is a great opportunity for learning English or even improving what you already know. This is my third year, and time has passed so quickly that I can’t believe there is only one left. You can meet very nice people with the same interest in English as you, and the most incredible thing is the ability of going on Linguistic Immersions. Although last year we couldn’t go to England due to Covid, I will never forget the marvelous experience of spending a whole week in Toledo, with native English speakers, in 2019. We had such an amazing time. I wish we could go back! Overall, if you are thinking of joining these lessons, I’d totally recommend doing it, and I am sure you won’t regret it.

Hernán and Adrián share their views and personal experiences on bilingual schooling using a Skype call. Their views are very INTERESTING since they acknowledge that the perks of studying in the British Council Programme are not only a matter of higher level of English but also a question of using a more active methodology in class. Like I said: very interesting.
