In many ways the rise and fall of Christian Petracca represents the rise and fall of the Demons through the 2010s and 2020s. Daniel shares a story about Petracca's time in the red & the blue.
With huge top 6 ramifications, this clash between the Melbourne Demons and the Geelong Cats promised plenty. It certainly delivered with a pulsating first half where Geelong reined in the Dees. Tune in to see how it all unfolded.
On a cold and somewhat wet afternoon at the MCG the top 6 Dees underlined their credentials as they put on a professional performance to easily account for the young Richmond Tigers. Tune it for all the regular segments.!
The Hawks hosted the Dees in Tazzy looking for their 13th straight win at UTaz stadium. But it wasn't to be, a dominant Melbourne were up by 71 points at half time and despite conceding 12 straight goals, they ran out 35 point winners.
On a cloudy day at the MCG the Melbourne Demons and the Essendon Bombers renewed hostilities. The Dons have been somewhat of a bogey team for the Dees downing them in three out of three gather round clashes, but it wasn't to be on this occasion Melbourne set up the win with a dominant first half.

On King's birthday, things were in full swing with the Big Freeze. Neale Daniher had passed just two weeks prior,which made for an extra emotional occasion.
On the field both teams were in need of a win but it was the Demons who kicked the clutch goals in the lastquarter to move to a perfect 7 from 7 at the MCG for 2026.
All your favourite segments are back in addition to aplay by play of the huge last quarter.
On a warm May afternoon and evening, the Melbourne Demons faced their biggest test yet taking on flag fancy Hawthorn. On this occasion it was the underdogs who got the chocolates! Tune in to hear how it all went down.
With both the Sydney Swans and the Melbourne Demons sitting in the top 4 this clashed promised plenty. It certainly lived up to the hype with both teams cracking the 100 and scoring freely to get the highlight reel ticking over.
The Dees & the Saints renew hostilities at the MCG. In a classic seesawing contest there was a lot to like about how footy is being played in 2026.

The St Kilda v Geelong 2009 Grand final was a titanic struggle. It putted 1st and 2nd of the ladder.
The Saints were attempting to break through for their first flag since 1966, while Geelong were looking to avenge their loss to the Hawks in the 2008 Grand Final.
There were stars everywhere and a finish for the ages...
The Deed hosted the GWS Giants in round 1 to kick off the season proper. On a rainy day, the worst of the weatherhad relented prior to the bounce. Those in attendance were treated to a great game that went down to just about the final play of the day.

John gives us his initial reaction to the Melbourne v GWS game moments after the siren on Sunday March 16 2025.

Another year, another Grand Final in the books. Johnny jumps on to give his recap of how this one played out.
John here for a quick rundown of Round 23 and a look ahead to the final round of the season. What do the finals in 2024 look like?
A special episode of Footy Time this week where John and Dan go through the ladder as it stands. Who is over-achieving, who is under-achieving and how far can these teams go in 2024?
Daniel is joined by Lucas D'Costa as we go back all the way to 2013 to see if a curse could be broken.
In the 2013 preliminary final it was a clash of the titans as the Hawthorn Hawks took on the Geelong Cats. The Cats had defeated the Hawks 11 straight times following the Hawks upset win in the 2008 Grand Final. As the Cats winning streak grew it was labelled the “Kennett Curse”, as after the 2008 Grand Final Jeff Kennett (former Victorian Premier & Hawks president) had come out and said that Geelong lacked the mental fortitude to get it done against Hawthorn, when it really mattered. The Cats of course took exception to this and vowed to never lose to the Hawks again. Now the Kennett Curse would be put to the ultimate test as the Hawks looked to cement their place in history with another premiership cup (but first they’d have to get to the Grand Final). What we got was one of the great finals of all time! Tune in to see how itplayed out.
On a Sunday afternoon, the Melbourne Demons hosted the West Coast Eagles for the first time in over a decade. Melbourne desperately needed the win to keep their top 8 hopes alive. On the Eagles side of things, the drums were beating and it looked like premiership coach Adam Simpsons time could be coming to an end. Tune in to see how it played out!
On a Friday night the Melbourne Demons headed to the Gabba as heavy underdogs to face the Brisbane Lions. The Lions have been putting on huge scores of late and were expected to account for a middling Demons outfit. What we got was anything but the expected as Melbourne ramped up the pressure and intensity, going on a blistering 8 goal 2nd quarter run. How did the Lions respond? Tune in to find out!
On a Saturday night at the G, the Melbourne Demons and the North Melbourne Kangaroos renewed an old rivalry that was at its best in the late 90s and early 2000s.
On this occasion it pitted the improving kangas (sitting 18th on the ladder) against a Melbourne side who's been struggling of late.
The game ebbed and flowed and ended with a heart stopping finish. What more could you want from a game of footy? Be sure to tune in!

On this episode of Footy Time, Dan & Johnny have made their predictions for the top 8, which threw up some surprises. They each nominate a dark horse with Sydney the clear club house leader in the premiership race. Which teams could potentially do some damage from outside the top 4? Tune in to find out.
On King's Birthday we head to the G to watch a game of footy and raise much needed money to fight MND. Sitting in 9th and 10th on the ladder both the Melbourne Demons and the Collingwood Magpies needed a win to continue to push their top 8 claims. In particular the Dees needed a response after a 92 point mauling at the hands of the Dockers the previous week. Tune in to see how it played out!
In Alice Springs, the players were greeted by glorious conditions for a game of footy. The winner of the Melbourne Demons and the Fremantle Dockers would further stake their claim for a top 8 finish in 2024. It was expected to be a tight game between two tightly matched teams. But what we got was anything but...
With both teams needing a steadying win, the GWS Giants headed down to Kardinia Park to face the Geelong Cats. Not surprisingly it was a willing contest as the momentum changes many times through the day. It all led up to a thrilling finish. Who came out on top? Tune in to find out.
At 3:20 pm on a sunny afternoon at the MCQ, the Melbourne Demons took on the StKilda Saints to see who could steady the ship. Both teams needed to get back on the winners list and show their supporters that they mean business in 2024. Tune in to see how it played out!

In the graveyard slot of 6:20 pm beaming into Melbourne, the West Coast Eagles played host to the Melbourne Demons. The eagles have been up and about getting a more even contribution from their side and lots of energy from first year player Harley Reid. Do the Dees have enough to get the job done over in the West? On a Thursday night with a bit of rain around the Carlton Blues played host to the Melbourne Demons at the MCG. Carlton needed a win to hold onto their spot in the 8 and make claims to be one of the better teams in 2024. From the Dees side of things, they wanted to continue their winning ways after accounting for Geelong the week prior. Who will come out on top?
What more could you ask for than a 1st vs 4th clash on a Saturday night at the MCG? The undefeated Geelong Cats took on the Melbourne Demons to see which teams early season form would be rubber stamped. What we got was an awesome clash of styles where the uncontested marks and organised defence of the Dees met the precision and want to take the game on from the Cats. It all culminated in a ridiculously good last quarter. Enjoy!
Johnny joins Daniel to talk through all things Round 7, which just so happens to be the Anzac round. Every team get a mention was we work out through all 9 games using True or False to hone in on some of the biggest talking points coming out of the games.
On a cool Melbourne Anzac eve night 72,000 packed in to see the Richmond Tigers take on the Melbourne Demons. The Dees have enjoyed a good record against the tigers of late. Would this trend continue, or would the tiger roll the clock back to the late 10s where they were kings? Tune in to find out.

Getting smacked by 45 points by a winless team is alarmbells for the kangas
To kick off round 5 it was Melbourne taking on the Lions who'd started the season with 1 win and three losses. On paper it looked like it should be an easy win for the Dees. But as we all know, sport is not played on paper or spreadsheets. The Lions were desperate to kick start their season and were ferocious at the ball. Tune in to see how it went down.
John is back with Dan to discuss all things gather round on Footy Time! Who's exceeded expectations and who seems to be floundering. Some of the things we thought we knew coming into the season now seem to be looking anything but true.
To kick off Gather round for 2024 on a Thursday night, 48,000 packed into Adelaide Oval to see if Adelaide could get their first win of the season. Melbourne had other ideas wanting to make it two wins in Adelaide from two weeks, having handed Port their first loss of the season. In a tight game, it was moments of brilliance and some slick ball movement that was the difference between the teams. Tune in to see how it played out!
On a Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval, the undefeated Port Adelaide Power took on the Melbourne Demons. The Power were favoured to take this one out with a tall forward line, as the Dees were missing Steven May (and maybe even Jake Lever). We were treated to a top draw game with many swings in momentum and great plays. Tune in to find out who took the chocolates!
In this round 2 clash on a sunny Melbourne afternoon in late March, the Hawks played host to the Dees at the MCG. Just over 40,000 people gathered to see if the Hawks could pull off an unlikely upset. From the Melbourne perspective it was another chance to put their altered game style on display and show they mean business in 2024. Tune into find out how it played out!
With round 1 in the books Johnny joins Daniel to talk allthings footy. Hard to believe that the grand finalists from 2023 don’t have a win between them from 4 games. Much of the action appears to be outside Victoria with the Giants, Suns, Swans & even the Dockers getting some great wins on the board. The state of the game is also up for discussion with the importance of an attacking game style in 2024 in the spotlight.
On a hot Sunday afternoon Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs battled it out to see who could get the chocolates. Who would come out on top, the tall forwards of the Dogs or the stingy defence of the Dees?

Since when did Melbourne Demons vs Richmond Tigers games turn into such great contests. Since 2023 I suppose. We had Dustin Martin winding the clock back, an attack at all costs mindset from both teams and a 6 goal haul from defender turned forward Harry Petty. Settle in and enjoy the ride for a cracking afternoon's action at the MCG.
What better place is there to be than the MCG on a sunny winter's afternoon. With the Melbourne Demons sitting pretty in 4th on the ladder and the Adelaide Crows way down in 13th, few would have predicted the trilling game we were treated to, especially in the second half. A bit of Max Gawn & Kossie Pickett was enough to get the ball rolling against an up and coming Crows side led by Jordan Dawson, Tex Walker and an ever improving Izaak Rankin.

Johnny Raf and Daniel Andrews are back to bring you the action from Round 18 on Footy Time!
Dubbed the greatest season that was, 1993 saw some of the greatest games and individual performances in history. With both Gary Ablett & Tony Modra kicking over 120 goals it was hard not to fall in love with the game.
Here we relive the 1993 Premlinary Final fought out between the Baby Bombers & the Adalide Crows who joined the AFL just two years earlier. It all added up to one of the all-time master-classes in attacking footy, the perfect antidote to the winter slogs we are currently witnessing in 2023.
The Bombers are up and about in 2023 but can they knock off a Port side who hasn't lost since the first of April? Tune in to find out.
