Self-discovery, improving oneself, and being the best version of yourself are intriguing to me. This is because, as a parent and role model, I want my children to model the behaviors that I want to instill in them. I want to plant the seeds for my kids, and in order for me to do that, it's very important for me to invest in my self-improvement education.

Part of getting this wisdom is having conversations with experts who can help me in my personal transformation.

Today we're bringing you Ilaria Petrucci, a qualified Inner Child and Trauma-informed Coach, and NLP Master Coach. She specializes in helping women overcome emotional eating and achieve their fitness goals without falling back into their old habits.

Having struggled with emotional eating for years herself, she perfectly understands the frustration and the root causes of these cycles. She is extremely passionate about helping women break free from this cycle, build deep confidence, achieve their fitness goals, and finally feel good in their skin.

Join me and Ilaria as we talk about people pleasing and where it comes from including how it is connected to emotional eating. We answer what can we do about these behaviors for our children and for ourselves.

How many of you are concerned about your eating habits?

As the first month of the year is settling down, we've all seen a number of goals floating around the internet world. One of those goals is our eating habits. We look to find our ideal weight without taking into account that weight management also includes our issues with body shame and how we make peace with our food to redefine our health.

Today we are having a conversation with Jennifer D’Amato, who is an Intuitive Eating Counselor, Coach, and Host of The Intuitive Eating Mama Podcast. She specializes in helping women reconnect with their bodies while making peace with food. She helps women redefine their whole physical health, especially in toxic diet culture. Jennifer not only takes us away from that dark culture but also helps women embrace their bodies, embrace their food, and look at what's on their plate with love instead of feeling guilty about it.

In addition to her work as an Intuitive Eating Counselor and Coach, she is married to her husband of over 20 years and mom to four brilliant intuitive-eating daughters! When she has downtime you can find her laughing at a sitcom episode she has already seen 5 times, hanging with her girls, or cooking up something yummy in the kitchen.

As parents, we are not going to be with our kids 24/7 for the rest of their lives. Instead of commanding and controlling their lives all the time, we should rather equip our kids with the tools they need to empower themselves to make the choices that are best for them.

In today’s episode, I will be talking about how I was impacted by the book“Trust and Inspire: How Truly Great Leaders Unleash Greatness in Others” by Stephen M. R. Covey. I highly recommend it since you are going to love the insights. It is going to inspire you to lead. You will learn how to become a trustworthy and inspired leader so your kids can then rely on you and learn from you to do the same.

To learn more about control and command leadership, please read: “Trust and Inspire: How Truly Great Leaders Unleash Greatness in Others” by Stephen M. R. Covey

Parenting is the most challenging leadership role out there. In fact, it is a leadership journey that never ends. But what does leadership have to do with parenting? There are so many myths about leadership where people believe that the term is just for Fortune 500 companies and high-flying entrepreneurs. But in reality, anyone can be a leader.

For this reason, there are many leadership concepts that can be applied in parenting. We can utilize these concepts to inspire our kids and lead our family life. I believe anyone can inspire others into action or growth since leadership can be learned, nurtured, and mastered.

In this episode, I will talk about leadership within family life and parenting, and how we can maximize the opportunities that we have with ourselves and our children.

It is that time of the year when retailers start bombarding us with ads for Black Friday sales. And I am sure that like every other year you are tempted to spend.

While it's enticing to take advantage of all these sales and buy a bunch of stuff we don't really need, I want to encourage you to think about investing in something else. Something non-material that will actually help you reach your goals.

I'm talking about coaching. Knowledge and the tools that can help you get ahead and make lasting changes in your life.

This Black Friday I want to share something big that I created. It’s a coaching program for parents called The Parenting Lab where parents can raise themselves along with their kids. Just like “it takes a village to raise a child”, it also takes a village to raise a parent.

This is not your typical Black Friday sale. This is an investment for you.

Don’t wait too long! The Parenting Lab will be only available for the next 48 hours.

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you truly believe you are being seen, heard, and understood?

Mothers often keep their emotions bottled up in order to show their bravery in front of their children. They want the best for their children, so they will go to any length to ensure that they are on the right path. However, moms occasionally want to be seen as well, which is why we created this episode.

In today’s episode, we have invited Haley. She is a content creator who shares a mother's life from a mom’s perspective. Haley will share how she became a content creator and built a community of mothers supporting each other.

It is natural for parents to feel guilty when they leave their children for a vacation, a business trip, or even for making poor decisions. This guilt is because we know we could do better leads to self-destructive behavior and, in the worst case, shaming ourselves.

You can feel guilty and shame yourself, but we also have the freedom to choose again, to make a new choice, and learn from the past.

In today’s episode, we will define what guilt is, the difference between guilt and shame, and what parents should do whenever their children feel guilty or ashamed.

One of the most difficult challenges we face as parents on a daily basis is how to get our children to listen.

When we say that we want our children to listen to us, we mean that we want them to follow whatever instructions, recommendations, or tasks we give them. Not just with our children, but in any relationship. We all want others to comply with our requests or expectations.

In today’s episode, I want to share a phenomenal concept that I learned from a book called “The Four Tendencies” by Gretchen Rubin. This can be a tool to facilitate a growth environment for your kids, guide them, and help them to make the best choice for them.

Laughing with your kids and enjoying the moment of connection is one of the best feelings ever as a parent. Parents, particularly dads, tend to rely on humor to connect with their children. You know, the ones that lead to loud groans or sometimes lots of eye-rolling. They're appropriately called "dad jokes."

A little humor can help make parenting easier.

In today’s episode, we have invited Doug Schneider also known as @oldrocklife on Instagram and TikTok. He'll share how he connects with his kids through humor, as well as some nuggets of information on how to connect with our kids with humor at the right time.

The home environment of a child has a significant impact on their development and overall well-being. A positive home learning environment encourages children and young people to be curious about learning and to believe in themselves.

As parents, we must be responsible for providing a growth environment for our children, and one way to do so is to design our home to be conducive to learning and let our kids learn to play independently.

In today’s episode, we will uncover five zones that we can start transforming in our house to build a space for conducive learning and at the same time help our kids play independently.

What should you do if your child is acting out?

Our kids have strong emotions that they want to express, and throwing tantrums or acting out is one way for them to show it. Seeing your child throwing tantrums or acting out can be upsetting, and sometimes our way to solve it is to yell at them, stop them from throwing tantrums, or punish them, which does not help at all.

In today’s episode, I will share how I handle my kids when they are acting out or throwing tantrums and I will also give you helpful tips that you can apply when they start acting out.

A good relationship is built on effective communication. Have you ever ended a relationship because of misunderstandings caused by poor communication? Or when you're talking to your children or loved ones and find yourself in rational conflict or despair.

Having conflicts throughout the day because of communication is not the way we want it to be.

In today’s episode, I will share the concept of nonviolent communication and how we can apply this in our everyday lives to maintain and perhaps improve our relationships with anyone.

As our kids grow, they develop their own uniqueness at the same time they create their own space, their own views, and characteristics, so they are more influenced by their peers, their surroundings, or devices. It gets a little harder for us parents to get into their space.

In today’s episode, we’ll talk about “The Human Design”, a tool that will help you connect with yourself and your kids. Your kids will allow you to be part of their own space at the same time they will develop into the person they dream of being, not the person society tells them to be.

The ability to choose and change is a gift, especially since so many of our habits and identities that we're walking around with, we're just not consciously chosen by us. What do I mean by that?

As parents, we consciously want to show our children to be positive. We want to show them that it’s a choice and that’s what we want to model. But sometimes, life just happens. Instances such as kids are struggling to get up in the morning, they fuss about the clothes they’ll wear or they keep complaining about breakfast. As much as you want to be that parent who smiles and stays happy, you can still feel the pressure and stress and it takes away your joy.

But what if I say that it doesn't have to be this way? What if I say that there is an end to the struggle? What if I say that I have a solution for you?

In this episode, I want to share with you how I dealt with these struggles through pre-planning.

I believe our mindset shapes whether we believe we can learn, change and grow or not. I’m saying this because I want to teach my children about mindset even as young as they are. Growing up, kids go through a lot of changes not only physically but most especially mentally and emotionally. And I believe mindset is key to addressing every issue they can encounter growing up.

In this episode, I would like to share with you how we can teach our kids about mindset. There are two kinds of mindsets, a fixed mindset, and a growth mindset. I would like to share my views because it's not only important to teach our kids this whole concept of mindset, but it's so  important for us parents to model the right behavior for our kids. Let’s dive into knowing their differences and how we can help our children learn and improve their mindsets.

Did you know that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to master something? Yes, you heard that right. It takes about 10,000 hours of practice to achieve a world class mastery of anything.

This information came from the book Outliers, and the author, Malcolm Gladwell, mentioned that talents are certainly a key ingredient in the recipe for success, but there is also another key which is practice.

In this episode, I’d like to share with you the perspective of why there’s no such thing as perfection. As it was said in the book, 10,000 hours is the minimum to be a master of something, and most of us will probably not have the time or spend this time to be an expert. And just like in parenting, we need to throw away this notion of being the perfect parent, instead we should replace it with progressing.

Disciplining a child can be a challenge, and sometimes it can be emotionally draining.

As kids are growing up, their emotions and attitudes are just developing. And sometimes they are still not able to control their emotions. Things as simple as doing chores can cause arguments and pressure in our relationship with them. Therefore, it's so essential that we discipline our children in a positive manner.

In this episode, I wanted to share what I've learned from the book No-Drama Discipline: The Whole-Brain Way to Calm the Chaos and Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind. A research, science, and spiritual based book that talks about how to discipline our children. Let's dive a little deeper into how we can positively discipline our children to take on certain habits for their physical, mental, developmental well-being.

Recently, I came across a metaphor that was said by Stephen Covey. He said, before the plane takes off, the pilot has a perfect plan. A perfect strategy. But, what happens during the course of the flight? There’s wind, rain, turbulence, air traffic, human errors, and so forth. No matter how prepared the pilot is, there are circumstances along the journey he doesn’t have control of.

Same thing happens with parenting. We might have the perfect plan in place but just like flying a plane, we don't have control of the external factors that can always affect how we parent our children. All we can do is adapt and make adjustments to still stay true to our purpose, our goal.

In this episode, I would like to share with you three strategies you can do whenever you feel discouraged about being imperfect at parenting, and whenever you feel like you’re not a good enough parent.

Do you believe in the saying that says, “A diamond is a chunk of coal that did well under pressure?”. I used to believe that, I used to believe that perfection is everything, that perfection is the goal. And I used to believe that success is a result of perfection. Little did I realize that perfection is boring, but getting better is where all the fun is.

Similarly, with parenting, many of us parents expect perfection. Some parents view their children as extensions of themselves and these kids are the ones suffering. They are putting pressure on their kids to do good, to be the best and not make any mistakes. They hope that by pushing their children to succeed, they can heal their own wounds of failure.

In this episode, I would like to share with you why parenting shouldn’t aim for perfection. How this kind of parenting affects our children negatively and how we can still repair our relationship with our children.

Have you ever gone out in public and suddenly your child throws a massive meltdown?

As he kicks and screams, you feel eyes starting to stare at you. Your heart keeps on pounding and you start sweating. Does this sound familiar? Guess what, I’ve been there, my child had a meltdown in a library. Imagine where you have all the signs of keeping silent, then suddenly your child is just screaming, and everybody's just looking at you. Looks that say you do not know how to handle your child, or control him. I felt ashamed and embarrassed

But then, what do you do about it? That's where consciousness comes. That's where modern parenting comes in. That's where conscious parenting comes. .

In this episode, I would like to share with you how to appropriately respond in these situations. How conscious parenting can control not only your child but your own emotions and behavior.

As parents, it is our desire to see our kids become successful in life. But how do we really define success?

In today’s generation, success is essentially related to material things. Having a great career, a big house, cars, and money is usually how our society views success. What we fail to realize is that isn’t the true essence of success. Yes, it does play a role but it doesn’t entirely represent it.

Success in life is all about authenticity. To be your authentic self. We shouldn’t teach them to act based on our society’s approval but it should be based on who they truly are. Teach them not to conform or please other people, but instead teach them to listen to their body and listen to their mind.

In this episode, I would like to share the seven spiritual laws of success we can teach our children. A truly important lesson we can start teaching our children. Planting the seeds to grow successful children.

The pandemic has been a wake up call for parenting. So many things have been uncertain, and parenting has become harder and more challenging than it already was.

I heard someone say, life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. Rather, it's about learning to dance in the rain. As parents, we need to adjust with any circumstance. Our children look up to us, and it is our responsibility to be able to model resilience and hope.

In this episode, I would like to share with you the three parenting truths I have learned in my twelve years of parenting. Truths that can guide you in your own parenting journey.

I believe life is a process. It’s all about the evolution of consciousness. If you look at the way the universe created this world, it's always about the seed, a plant, a flower, and a fruit. Then, it goes back to the seed.

Similarly, we're all on a journey of greater consciousness, becoming more compassionate, and more loving. Through planting the seeds. It’s also like taking small steps leading to a bigger goal. Taking one significant life transforming step at a time.

In this episode, I would like to share with you the relationship of planting seeds and taking one step at a time to conscious parenting. To be conscious role models to our children.

Ninety percent of the time, I am in the doing mode.  It’s just hard for me to take some time off. I do have Saturdays and Sundays, but weekends are still packed with activities like spiritual practices, volunteer work, coaching, and all the other stuff. And I haven’t really had the time off I needed.

I’m currently traveling for work, and fortunately the weekend came while I’m on ‘workation’. Last night, after a day of exploring, I came into a reflection that is really important in a work-life balance.

In this episode, As I have taken some time off for myself, I want to share with you the reflections I learned during this short vacation. I realized that no matter how important our goals are, it is also equally important to have time to switch off.

Sometimes, we exhibit behaviors towards our children we don’t mean. When we’re tired, overwhelmed, or having bad days, we tend to respond to our children in an unloving way. Though we don’t do them consciously, we still end up hurting our kids.

Unknowingly, the spur of the moment display of anger towards them is affecting their mental and emotional well being.

In this episode, I would love to share three behaviors we need to watch out for. Behaviors we can reflect on, learn to manage and avoid, for us to not to hurt our children.

On September 20, 2021, I tested positive for Covid. News nobody would like to hear and  scared to deal with. But in spite of that, I choose to take it in a positive approach.

Here I am quarantined in my room for the fifth day, eating, reading, sleeping, and working in one space. As I reflected a couple days ago, I chose to not feel negative about my situation, but instead to use this time to be more productive, be positive, and focus on what’s really important in life.

Being a mom doesn’t have a pause button, even when you’re quarantined. And so what this time has taught me are two things. First, is my connection with my children. And second is taking care of my mind.

In this episode, I will share with you what I learned from my Covid journey.

Recently, we found out my mom was Covid positive. And we’re all quarantining together in one house. And as we spend a lot of time together, there are moments we clash, especially around my four year old.

Dealing with a young child is not easy, when they go through tantrums especially during a stressful situation like now, I can’t help but ask myself - Why is my child not listening to me?

As parents, it is our duty to keep our children safe, feel loved, accepted, and worthy. Raising them with these core goals will potentially make them good adults and most importantly good parents in the future.

But what if they’re behaving badly? How can you practice conscious parenting when they’re being aggressive or screaming at you?

For the longest time, parents have practiced traditional parenting. A parenting style that is mostly influenced by what the society dictates. It’s all about  strict rules, punishment, and authority.

However, if we want to have a meaningful life and a healthy relationship with our kids, we need to shift to a different parenting style. A parenting style that is focused on building and maintaining a good relationship with our kids, that is conscious parenting.

In this episode, we will look into how we can practice conscious parenting through dealing with our children’s behaviors. And to identify why they are showing these behaviors and what they’re trying to communicate with us.

Children, as we know, go through a whirlwind of emotions. Sometimes they're so lovely and cuddly, but other times they’re so angry and frustrated that we don’t seem to know how to console or stop them from throwing a tantrum.

And for us parents, we get frustrated too and end up saying the wrong things. The words we say end up hurting our children and can cause a huge impact on them growing up.

The Question is, how can you make your child listen or stop? To address this, I have observed in my ten years as a parent three common mistakes or phrases that created a disconnect from me and my kids during a tantrum.

Understanding a child’s behavior can help us become aware of our own emotional triggers and reactions.

Children are an extension of ourselves. We pass on traits to our children, and  how we model influence them growing up. And so what we experienced as children is likely what we pass on or show our kids. As a result, a child can mirror back even the unresolved issues we had as a child.

With this in mind, healing and managing our child’s behavior, helps in healing our own emotional triggers as well. Once we become aware of these feelings, we start responding instead of reacting. We resolve to empathize with our child’s needs and emotions in chaotic situations.

Finding calm in chaos is one of the most stressful and biggest challenges in parenting. When our emotions take over, we lose self control. We forget how to be mindful of our actions in front of our children and we lose our ability to self regulate.

But guess what? There is a way for us to control our emotions. There is a solution to the problem. That is to learn how to catch the triggers before we even spiral out of control.

Do you know your real self? Who are you? Who am I?

What are my needs? How do I do self care? Why is this important to me?

Self care is as vital as putting food into our body. If we know how to take care of our needs, then we grow and flourish, bringing out a better awareness of ourselves.

In addition, understanding psychological needs based on emotions is in our own hands. If we understand and if we show that we understand, then we love, and the situation will change and will get better.

It is important to listen to ourselves more. We need to be in charge of ourselves and our spaces. Self care is taking care of our needs and facilitating the environment. Listen to your heart, mind and body.

Having an uninterrupted downtime is essential to our wellbeing, especially to our brains. It is like the food we eat. Everybody needs some time to be on their own. It is paramount  to restart, gear up and influence the environment.

In today’s episode, Mital will go into different psychological needs based on the emotions we have. We’ll look at some examples of self care that we can do for each of these basic needs.

Why do we delay things we do when we can finish them on time? When can we get to fulfill this dream project when we are caught scrolling to our friend's vacation pictures? Why are we procrastinating? What is the root cause of procrastination?

Procrastination is everyone's relatable story. However this culprit hits you, have you ever thought about where this comes from?  Putting things  off intentionally is a lack of knowledge, according to my personal coach. But the real procrastination comes from self doubt. These annoying thoughts of "we're not good enough", "we can't solve a problem" or "we can't solve a hurdle", are signs of self-doubt. It is a sign of procrastination.

How can we deal with this? That’s what I’ll be talking about in today’s episode of Raise To Rise!

We all know that we all are different, we all are unique, including our children. Even though we're all connected through blood, we all possess different personalities. And due to that, we all deal with pain differently. It's when we recognize this, our perspective and empathy increases. Empathy and resilience are some of the skills and values that we need in our kids' lives, for them to be resilient, confident and happy in their life.

Imagine we were in the park with our kid, and then suddenly, he or she just trips and starts crying. Our response is we rush to their rescue. We take them into our arms, and we try to comfort them. And then after a while they're back on their feet again, and they're playing again. It seems like it's a normal thing for them, right? Our parenting instinct is always to avert any pain or failure because we don't want them to feel like they're losers or we don't want them to be deprived of something or feel that they lost. And so we just fulfil their wishes.

In this episode, we are going to shift this a little towards conscious parenting. I'm going to share with you three ways to raise a resilient, confident and a happy kid.

How can you respond when a child deliberately does something like throw a block at your head, draws on the couch, pinches the brother?

When kids push boundaries and our limits, many of us get overwhelmed, annoyed, terrified, even up to the limit where we really want to punish our children to make them listen. This can all be so consuming and feels hard at times.

However, research has shown that punishments are actually very counterproductive, hurtful, and harmful. These yelling, spanking, shaming and other forms of punishment actually teach nothing to our kids. They might teach kids to obey, but out of guilt or fear, which can cause big problems like anxiety and depression down the road. When they no longer fear us, they'll no longer have a reason to cooperate or listen.

So they will likely keep pushing our limits and disobeying not listening, ignoring us acting out until we respond with the clear limits. We need to set clear limits, in order for them to feel safe.

In today's episode, I am going to share three steps on how to respond in situations where you kids are throwing and hitting.

Leanne is a mentor, guide, teacher, and a coach. Through her years of teaching children and teenagers, she realized that it’s important from a young age to encourage children to tap into THEIR potential (not the parents) by encouraging them to have a voice.

In her experience, especially at the highschool level, children are choosing careers that are based on other people’s expectations and not their own.

More and more today children are afraid of failure because of helicopter parents who have the best intentions but need to see the true value in failure and realize that’s it’s okk..Failure has become a buzzword for negativity when really it is truly growth. She believes that When children are not parented to think, years  later they realize that they never liked their career choice, life path, etc. Because they never made the decision in the first place.
