In this episode, Thomas Fahrer joins Jarrett once again to discuss the current state of Bitcoin and its potential for future growth and global adoption. This conversation touches upon a lot of different topics related to Bitcoin including but not limited to:

⚡️ Bitcoin is currently at an all-time high and has seen increased interest and adoption since the launch of Bitcoin ETFs.

⚡️ Institutional investors, such as BlackRock and Fidelity, are entering the Bitcoin market, signaling a shift towards mainstream acceptance.

⚡️ Bitcoin's unique properties as a deflationary asset make it an attractive store of value compared to traditional assets like gold.

⚡️ The total market cap of Bitcoin is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, potentially surpassing gold's market share.

⚡️ Owning a home is a common investment strategy, but investing in Bitcoin may offer better long-term wealth-building opportunities. Renting may be a better strategy than buying a home in the current economic climate.

⚡️ Institutional investors have a longer-term perspective and are driving the adoption of Bitcoin.

⚡️ Spending Bitcoin is important for its network and utility, but its primary value lies in its store of value properties.

⚡️ Bitcoin adoption is more likely to be driven by financial institutions and portfolio diversification than by everyday transactions.

⚡️ The United States is likely to be a powerful economic nation that embraces Bitcoin, given its association with freedom and the growing interest of political candidates in the cryptocurrency.

⚡️ Bitcoin offers an opportunity for wealth preservation and is becoming an essential asset in investment portfolios.

⚡️ Bitcoin's adoption is influenced by government policies and regulations, but its decentralized nature allows individuals to transact freely.

⚡️ Bitcoin's impact on the middle class and the decline of traditional assets like government bonds is significant.

⚡️ Accessing the flow state in Bitcoin involves staying informed about institutional adoption and following the news and analysis of Bitcoin's impact on the financial world.

Daniella Rosa, founder of AIEA Golf, joins the pod to discuss her mission to create elevated sportswear apparel for women on the golf course. From challenges sourcing performance fabrics and finding factories willing to produce low quantities, Daniella shares all her highs and lows creating AIEA including but not limited to:

⚡️ The golf apparel market lacks high-quality, stylish options for women, and Daniella saw an opportunity to fill this gap.

⚡️ Sourcing performance fabrics and finding factories willing to produce low quantities were major challenges in launching the brand.

⚡️ Community building is a key aspect of the mission - creating a space where people can come together, learn, and enjoy the sport. Creating a strong, organic community is more important than having a large number of followers or members.

⚡️ Web3 technology has the potential to enhance the brand's offerings and create new opportunities in the golf industry. Incorporating web3 into a business can provide unique opportunities for community building and engagement.

⚡️Building an NFT membership project comes with challenges, such as the complexity of onboarding users and finding trustworthy collaborators.

⚡️ Collaborating with web3 influencers and brands can help expand the reach and impact of a business.

⚡️ The future involves integrating NFC chips into clothing and allowing members to have voting rights in the brand's decision-making process.

In this episode, Jarrett discusses three events that will impact Bitcoin price: the Bitcoin halving, the US election, and quantitative easing. The Bitcoin halving, which already occurred, will lead to a supply shock and eventually drive up the Bitcoin price. The US election, regardless of the outcome, is likely to create uncertainty and could result in a dip in Bitcoin price in the short-term. In the long-term, each candidate has different ideas about how to regulate and corral Bitcoin. Finally, quantitative easing, or money printing, is expected to occur in the spring of 2025 and could lead to inflation and a further increase in Bitcoin price. Understanding these events is crucial for understanding the future of Bitcoin's price discovery.

On this episode, Jarrett talks about how miners and investors are preparing for this monumental moment.

Unlike other Halvings, this one is different -- the institutions are here and it's going to be interesting to see how much, if any, of an impact that may have on price, sentiment and overall hash rate!

Bitcoin's growth over the next decade is so wild even posting this social media post that inspired this episode felt weird but here we are. We live in a world where fiat can be printed infinitely which, in theory, means that Bitcoin, a finite resource, could see its price appreciate at an astronomically rate as its adoption continues. This episode, like all MTB episodes, is NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE. The reality is that no one knows where Bitcoin's price will go over the next decade and it will be interesting to see how closely it does or does not follow these price predictions.

Originally on this episode, I was going to share my thoughts and data on why owning 0.1 BTC will be the future of generational wealth. However, after seeing some infographics on Instagram from friends in Guatemala and Mexico, I decided to pivot and discuss the importance that digital ownership will likely play in the future of impoverished communitIes in the developing word who will be impacted by the climate crisis and therefore may need to move to find new opportunities.

Whether it's Bitcoin, crypto or NFTs -- owning blockchain backed assets provide the underbanked, unbanked and those on the economic fringes something that has always seen nearly impossible -- OWNERSHIP.

As a Bitcoin professional and content creator, I'm often asked the simple, yet complex question - "What is Bitcoin?".

And while there are hundreds of ways to describe what bitcoin is depending upon who's asking, so on this episode I answer this to the best of my ability and do so under the guise that I'm answering your grandmother. Because, if she can understand this explanation, it should suffice for other Bitcoin curious people interested to learn more about this novel technology.

The story of money in the 20th century is intrinsically tied to the story of fiat or government mandated debt; a system that devalues the average citizen's currency, silently steals wealth and more often than not props up systems of violence. So, it was almost "on par" to see Fox Business usher Strike CEO, Jack Mallers, off the mic when he got into his backswing about the dangers of the over-burdened fiat debt system.

Crypto adoption is growing steadily but for mass adoption to take hold, more people will have to have a "need" for it, understand that their opportunity cost for not partaking in the crypto ecosystem is actually more expensive and just generally be surrounded by more people using the technology. On the 82nd episode of More Than Blockchain, Jarrett shares 2 personal anecdotes which touch upon what crypto will need for mass adoption.

Bitcoin mining is an essential component to ensuring that the bitcoin network is secure. It’s proof of work protocol provides second to none security for its global, decentralized network. As it becomes more competitive to secure the bitcoin network, the energy demand to keep the network moving forward continues to grow. One of the complaints I often hear about web3 is that a lot of the projects, companies and ideas are solutions looking for a problem. Meaning that we already have suitable web2 solutions and that just because your project is backed by blockchain doesn’t make it necessarily the best real-world fit to solve the outlined problem. To be honest, I understand this criticism. I think it’s valid. As it is today, blockchain, crypto, NFTs and web3 can only do so much but where it can find a good solution-problem alignment is where it will thrive.

On this episode, I had the pleasure of chatting with Domingo who’s a cofounder of Homebase. Homebase is a company that starting today, February 28th 2023, will offer the world access to fractionalized ownership to residential real estate for as little as $100. Domingo and Homebase are trying to provide people the opportunity to gain exposure to residential real estate. Real estate, as we all know, especially in the single family home sector, has gotten exceedingly expensive. This is where Homebase is woking to bring a perfectly sound web3 solution to a web2 problem and help more people and families build wealth via real estate exposure - something that for far too many in the US has become seemingly out of financial reach.

As a kid, I remember watching episodes of Star Trek and seeing them communicate via video and thinking whoa that’s wild, it’s almost like magic.Fast forward 30 years later and millions if not billions of people around the world have the technology and connection to make a FaceTime or video chat with little to no effort. The younger me saw Star Trek’s video chats as other worldly or so far in the future that it was tough to comprehend. Keep in mind, the younger me had never seen a smartphone or laptop, been on the internet and was still using a landline rotary phone. If we look back at the history of technological evolution, the only difference between what we deem to be magic and later understand as tech is time. It’s this similar sentiment that is shared by this episode’s guest, Andy Bryant, when it comes to artificial intelligence or AI.Andy has been fascinated by and engaging with AI for years now and within my professional and personal circle of technologists and futurists, he’s one of the most well spoken about AI and how we, as a society, should thoughtfully consider how this new tech will play a role in our daily lives. To contact Andy, please find him on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/andymbryant/To read the TIME article we reference throughout the episode, click here - https://time.com/6246119/demis-hassabis-deepmind-interview/Please follow us on social media and check out our website:Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/morethanblockchain/Twitter - https://twitter.com/morethanblckchnYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC45qe8qj0rIcXdYqI_aiIXgLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/more-than-blockchainWebsite - https://www.morethanblockchain.xyz/

As a final episode to 2022, I wanted to share with you the results of asking OpenAI's ChatGPT for 10 tips on how to create new year's resolutions.

Here are ten tips for creating new year's resolutions:

  1. Start small: Rather than trying to make major changes all at once, focus on making small, achievable goals that you can gradually build upon.
  2. Be specific: Rather than setting a vague goal like "exercise more," set a specific goal like "go to the gym three times a week." Specific goals are easier to track and measure, which can help you stay motivated.
  3. Write it down: Write your resolution down on paper and keep it somewhere visible as a constant reminder.
  4. Make a plan: Break your resolution down into smaller steps and make a plan for how you will achieve each step.
  5. Set a deadline: Having a deadline can help you stay focused and motivated to achieve your goal.
  6. Share your resolution with others: Sharing your resolution with friends and family can provide accountability and support.
  7. Keep track of your progress: Regularly tracking your progress can help you stay on track and make adjustments as needed.
  8. Don't be too hard on yourself: It's okay to have setbacks or to not achieve your goal right away. Just keep trying and don't give up.
  9. Celebrate your successes: Celebrate each small victory along the way to help keep you motivated.
  10. Be flexible: If your resolution isn't working out as planned, don't be afraid to adjust your approach or try something different. The important thing is to keep making progress towards your goal.

There’s really nothing exciting about taxes but that’s only if you’re thinking of them in the context of tradfi or traditional finance or even the way we’ve thought about them for seemingly well . . . forever. Although, in crypto taxes are different. This is because in crypto, NFTs and DeFi or decentralized finance - there is a lot of volatility in prices, unreal interest yields and just generally little to no regulatory frameworks passed down by the government on how we should go about filing crypto, NFT and DeFi related tax events. This is all the more reason why I was super excited to chat with my guest today - Micah Fraim. Micah runs a CPA firm that specializes in crypto tax support and has a portfolio of clients that will likely continue to grow with crypto’s long term forecasted mass adoption rates. Micah is an author of crypto tax related books and, as he says on this episode, is one of the earliest leaders in a space where more and more CPAs and tax specialists are diving in to understand how to tax crypto, NFTs, defi and more blockchain related products. On this episode, let’s decrypt crypto taxes with Micah Fraim.

Which current social media network will be the last to adopt a digital in-app wallet? I’m betting it’s the one that won’t make it to 2030 and that's just a hunch. By 2025, I think all of the big social media apps used around the world will likely have crypto wallets built into or linked to a third party account. It will start with Twitter and before you know it, voila crypto will be tied into the functionality of many, if not all, social networks. I know this sounds crazy but it’s already underway . . .

Like any other industry, web3 and crypto has its fair share of conferences. You know the ones with panel discussions, keynote speakers, SWAG, company booths, sponsorship branding everywhere and well you get the picture. And while I have not admittedly attended a web3 or crypto specific conference yet, I've been told by fellow web3 and crypto community members, including even guests who've joined this podcast, that there are a lot less suits and a lot more experiences that you might not expect at "professional" gathering with high ticket attendance prices. And to build on this notion of unique and curated experiences, this episode’s guest, Norman Gabula, will share all about his involvement in helping to create and then executing ETH Safari’s inaugural web3 conference in Kenya. ETH Safari, as Norman shares, is a web3 conference held in Kenya that brings in attendees from more than 40 countries to discuss how web3, crypto, NFTs, blockchain and more will continue to shape not just Kenya or Eastern Africa as a region but the continent of Africa and beyond. Norman also shares his own story of choosing to work on ETH Safari as a Volunteer over a paid gig in his more traditional professional legal path as a lawyer. It’s a story that will resonate with many who’ve decide to take the road less traveled and ended up in the global community of web3 and crypto.

As cryptocurrency grows in its global adoption, it will continue to fuel a new world of possibilities. Currently cryptocurrency is being used to facilitate cross border payments, remittances, tuition fees, bitcoin backed mortgages for real estate, it's how some are paying their bills, even their taxes and it's also becoming a growing medium through which we support the causes we care about under what's known as crypto philanthropy. Crypto philanthropy is opening up new opportunities for nonprofits and my guest today, Pietro Moran, works for The Giving Block which is an organization at the forefront of providing 501c3s with crypto solutions. At The Giving Block, Pietro serves as Director of Crypto Partnerships and truly has his finger on the pulse of crypto philanthropy, as you'll hear throughout this episode. While many non profit supporters donate with cash, checks, wire transfers and stocks, the demand is growing within the nonprofit sector to not only accept cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum but to understand the crypto donor of tomorrow, as they increasingly make up a larger part of the donor profile of the future.

Since the beginning of computing and then the internet, connection speed and our desire to improve it has been an ongoing narrative. As a kid, I can remember dial up, living abroad in Central America in my early 20s it was a USB-like thumb drive that I loaded up like a prepaid phone card which then allowed me to keep in touch with friends and family stateside and while the speed wasn’t great - it worked.  Today, WiFi is the way we connect our laptops, smartphones, tablets and IOT devices to the internet. And on this episode, Roger Williams joins the pod to share how the next iteration of connectivity for homes, corporate offices and many more shared spaces will be light fidelity or LiFi where we use light to transfer data and information. While LiFi may seem out of this world, I’m sure a young me who only knew dial up would’ve thought that WiFi was more science fiction than the future. I’ve often said that crypto is community because anytime you meet another person who’s also into crypto- there’s often an immediate connection and energy around something that, well, is still fairly underground. So, it was great to finally connect with this episode’s guest, Jose Pichardo-Eve, and learn more about his crypto journey and what he’s excited about in the space moving forward. On this episode, Jose shares with us his thoughts on the ISO 20022 and how it will impact cryptocurrency, as the world starts to draw lines in the sand and create policy frameworks to regulate what has been a largely unregulated sector. We also discuss his pick for low cap gems during this crypto winter as it is almost moon bag season where a $50 buy of XYZ cryptocurrency could eventually be worth 100X that amount in the future bull market. Low cap simply refers to a lower market cap cryptocurrency that may not be on everyone’s radar. And we say gem because maybe it's a diamond in the rough. While it’s said throughout the episode, all of our opinions should not be taken as financial advice - they’re just insights into both of our investment strategies.

As buzzwords like crypto, bitcoin, and NFT become ever more imbedded in our daily lives and society as a whole, it’s no surprise that academic institutions would be some of the first to consider how blockchain might impact their faculty, students, alumni and communities in general. On our 40th episode, I sit down with a member of Bentley University who will share how Bentley is currently accepting crypto for tuition and gifts, leveraging NFTs to celebrate outstanding community members and share where he believes universities, like Bentley, will be able to lean into and benefit from blockchain. Sol Nasisi is this episode’s guest and, as you’ll see throughout the episode, he’s on the forefront of using blockchain to enhance the University experience and in my opinion future-proof the institution of higher education to the transformations brought on by web3 and crypto. Imagine playing an arcade style game like Tetris and getting paid in cryptocurrency for being a top scorer after only paying a penny to play and with the potential of even winning tokens for participation. Well, this isn’t part of a potential future - it’s already happening today by leveraging blockchain and micropayments. My guest on this episode, Joe De Pinto, is a former professional baseball player and Co-Founder of both Bar Pay and Haste Arcade - two enterprises which have led Joe and his fellow Co-Founder, Dan Wagner, to blockchain and cryptocurrency due to its low transaction fees and micropayment abilities. On this episode, we dive into both Bar Pay and Haste Arcade and discuss how blockchain backed micropayments could shift our subscription based and ad revenue models to a micropayment and consumer led landscape. Using Haste Arcade as a successful case study of micropayments in what Joe refers to as a play and earn game; This episode has left me wondering how long it will take other game and content creators to experiment with and eventually adopt similar systems?

Traditionally, real estate has been thought of in terms of either physical residential or commercial properties - everything from the single family home to a massive office park. The internet, however, made us rethink real estate and brought to the forefront the idea of "digital real estate" - you know where domains, like physical addresses, were coveted as they were unique and non-fungible. An example of this is owning a domain like hope.com, which Michael Saylor proudly owns, and he's been to known to say "Who wouldn't want to own hope?" Another and maybe more prominent example of owning digital real estate are the millions of content creators who leverage youtube to share their ideas with the world. Many content creators see their videos as digital real estate in an ever more digital world ie it's a good thing to have your ideas, brand, company, etc take up space where people are looking to find answers and socialize. And in the future, this idea of positioning yourself or your company or your brand in places where people will go for answers and to socialize is directly tied to the metaverse or the many virtual worlds where people can own land, own property, rent property and provide value.

Just like how owning real estate in Manhattan is valuable today - in the future, and even today, owning plots of land or buildings or even an apartment in either Decentraland or Sandbox, two of the most prominent virtual worlds is a big deal. Rapper and social icon Snoop Dogg famously owns millions of dollars of real estate in Sandbox and i think, as my guest today does, that as we begin to spend more time in virtual worlds, real estate in virtual worlds, or the metaverse, will become increasingly more sought after.

On this episode, I chat with Tomas from crypto house capital about their virtual real estate brokerage and how they're trying to onboard interested people and investors into the world of virtual real estate.

As web3 and crypto mature, there’s likely going to be increased demand from both creators and users for insurance. You know the thing you pay monthly for your car, home, apartment, even for your life with life insurance. Insurance is seemingly a natural part of any sector’s evolution where there’s a lot of money being exchanged for the sale and purchase of good and services. And even in a landscape where we’re told to verify not trust, insurance will play a unique role to ensure that all parties moving forward are doing their due diligence to cut down on negligence and improve the space as a whole. On this episode, I chat with Kyle Butler about his professional trajectory into insurance and how he’s excited to leverage his web2 understanding of the insurance industry to better web3 and crypto for everyone involved.

There are a 1,000 reasons not to own Bitcoin. Although, I argue on this episode that people, maybe even you, don't own due to your/the fear of its "newness". What if you were to view Bitcoin as a avant-garde technology, like the rotary engine, an airplane, the automobile, the internet or even Facebook, would that change your view of it? Bitcoin is much more than just a potentially sound financial decision or an investment, although this is NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE. Acquiring Bitcoin is betting on the internet's first successful internet currency. And like all of the aforementioned technological advances, they may not make sense in their inception but, as time passes, they start to be so integral to our existence that we can't fathom a world without them. I mean, can you imagine a world with the rotary engine? Air travel? Cars? The Internet? Or social media networks like Facebook? If not, maybe consider looking into Bitcoin for what it is - a nascent technology with global adoption potential.

Calcio is Italian for football or soccer, and to be honest there are a lot of different names for the beautiful game around the world. On n today’s episode, I catch up with Mark Anthony De Francesco and we chat about how blockchain, crypto, NFTs and tokenization will likely change the world of sports for fans, players, owners and anyone tied into the ecosystem of entertainment that is professional sports in the year 2022. Instead of talking about sports in general, we explore these topics through Mark’s love for Roma, one of Italy’s and Europe’s most beloved soccer clubs. And, I must say, as a huge fan of soccer and European club football or calcio, it was great to connect with Mark and hear his thoughts on how fan tokens and crypto will enhance every súper-fan’s relationship with their club.

I also want to say that we had some technical difficulties during the recording and so half way through the episode Mark’s microphone changes from his AirPods to that of his phone.

Calcio or soccer is the world’s sport and so it makes sense that web3 and crypto, like all new tech before it, play a role in the continuous and iterative evolution that is the beautiful game.

Yesterday, I ran into someone I’ve known since high school and when she asked about my podcasts, the topic of the metaverse came up. If you check out some earlier More Than Blockchain episodes, you’ll know that I’m very bullish on the potential of the metaverse and really feel that it will eventually be the place where we spend a lot of our time.

In episode 15, I outline multiple ways in which I think the metaverse will transform our world and in episode 17, I discuss how the metaverse will change the way we each individually think about self and our own identity. But, wait - are we already living in the metaverse?

The future is here and it’s web3. However, people need more direction and as I discuss with my guests today some people entering the space interested to create don’t even know what to google or what questions to ask which is truly a sign that while web3 is here it’s extremely new.

On this episode, I chat with Tomas Pansini and Adam Vallejo two of the cofounders of Co-Labs which is a full stack web3 development studio out of the New York / New Jersey area. Web3 creators need guidance and Co-Labs’ one stop shop to help take any web3 project from an idea to execution is gaining real traction and is likely to continue to bear fruits. While founded less than a year, Co-Labs is finding success offering their clients the priceless service of direction in the mapless world of web3.

In 2017, I remember being up in crypto, then by the end of the first quarter of 2018 I was down. In 9 months I had seen my initial investment peak around 15x and then tumble back down to below my initial investment entry prices and that's crypto - it's brutal! The highs are higher than you can fathom and can make even Everest look small and the lows are the Mariana trench and then some. On this episode, I want to quickly share with you my thoughts on when bitcoin's bottom or lowest price will be in.  This is not investment advice.  Please follow us on social media and check out our website:  Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/morethanblockchain/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/morethanblckchn YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC45qe8qj0rIcXdYqI_aiIXg Website - https://www.morethanblockchain.xyz/

The word "phygital" is the blending of the words physical and digital and refers to a product, service or experience that's a blend between both the physical and digital. For this episode’s guest, Victor Rivera, phygital is the best way to describe the way in which he’s blending the physical with the virtual world. Victor is a veteran collector of African art and one visit to his Opensea page (https://opensea.io/collection/africanartnft) will show you how when you buy one of his African art pieces, you’ll also receive an image and an AR or augmented reality 3D file of the purchased art piece that you can then interact with in any physical space. This approach to selling a physical product tied to a- blockchain backed digital asset is likely the future of commerce and experiences as AR starts to play a bigger role in our daily lives. On this episode, Victor and I discuss his journey into crypto, his African art phygital project, his experience at NFT NYC, what the NFT space could use to improve, his work with the artist collective and where Puerto Rico is with blockchain adoption. Discords have gone quiet. Twitter has become less optimistic and full of apocalyptic memes.  Bitcoin’s price has dropped below the 2017 previous ATH of $20k.  And, NFT floor prices are dropping even as Ethereum’s price drops with the rest of the crypto market.  That’s right the bear market is here or crypto winter, a phrase used to speak more specifically about the cryptocurrency market.  On this episode, I outline the 3 ways I’m planning to navigate it.  Visit the More Than Blockchain website and follow us on Instagram and Twitter. Crypto and NFTs are new, so there’s a lot of demand for informative and easily digestible educational content.

The need for educational content around crypto is so great that rapper Jay Z and ex Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey just created the bitcoin academy to support Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn community members in their understanding of Bitcoin.

This demand for digestible content aligns perfectly with my guest today who has spent her professional career in brand building and marketing endeavors for clients both big and small with her PR and creative digital media agency located out of New York City.

Shirin is one half of the Crypto Witch Club which, as their website proudly boasts, "is an inclusive, equitable space for all to learn about blockchain tech.

On this episode, Shirin and I talk about crypto, Bitcoin, the Luna collapse, NFTs, the behind the scenes look at how Crypto Witch Club was formed, a look ahead at how she hopes to position Crypto Witch Club and also spills the tea on a potential NFT collection.

Crypto and web3 is a world ripe for exploration and the crypto witches are building a brand ready to tackle the bear market and beyond.

When I think about a day trader, I often picture the character of Bud Fox who was played by Charlie Sheen in the 1987 movie Wall Street.

If you haven’t seen the movie that’s okay because the imagery portrayed throughout the film is likely what you think of when you imagine a day trader — fresh suits, expensive shoes, big mansions in the Hampton’s, fancy apartments in mid town Manhattan. But, this opulent 80s, 90s and even early 2000 imagery of a day trader has evolved greatly.

And, in the world of crypto - day trading continues to be a worthwhile pursuit sought after by many and the stocks from the traditional finance system are now Bitcoin, Ethereum and thousands of other cryptocurrencies.

This episode's guest is Josh Somma and Josh works as Product Manager for VEMA Trader - a new day trading support platform that’s transforming the way day trader’s approach the market and engage with their trades to ideally increase their profits while reducing the amount of daily time and energy they spend on the platform.

On this episode, Josh and I dive into how he got into crypto, his thoughts on NFTs and DAOs, where he thinks the space still needs to improve and how VEMA Trader is positioning itself to be a premier crypto day trader must have product.

Day trading is nothing new but day trading In cryptocurrencies or crypto, an asset class that never sleeps or takes weekends off, really needs a product to support the new crypto focused generation of Day traders and VEMA Trader looks like it’s primed for global adoption.

On this podcast, I often talk with guests about the waves they’re making in web3 and yet, it always feels a little off as 99% of my day is spent on web2 even if I am talking about web3. LinkedIn and Twitter, while major hubs for web3 chatter and community, are very much web2, so it was refreshing to have a guest speak to this dichotomy and share the idea that not everything needs to be web3. And that we, as he is currently doing, will likely continue to mix the best elements of web2 with web3 to make the gradual slide into web3 more of an evolution rather than a revolution. This will also allow the tech to catch up with our lofty web3 dreams - you know where everything is on chain. This episode’s guest is Brent Craige and we sat down in his hometown of New Orleans to discuss how he’s putting the big easy on the web3 and crypto map with his projects — NFTeacher and Jammaround. NFTeacher currently is leveraging and Jammaround will leverage blockchain to shift paradigms and build a future that, like with all web3, will allow more people to create on their own terms while actively building community. Since the crypto bull run of 2020 started and flowed into 2021 and now into 2022 , it seems like there’s a new NFT project every hour or a new discord to join and grind in the hopes of getting a coveted WL spot to then mint an NFT.  I must admit, I totally partook in the whole NFT madness of 2021 and now have a nice little portfolio of NFTs. However, on this episode I want to briefly share 3 reasons why I think 99% of all current NFT projects will flop within the next two years.  For more information on the podcast, please check out our website and be sure to subscribe on Spotify and Apple podcasts.

According to coinmarketcap.com there are currently more than 19 thousand cryptocurrencies that can be bought and sold either through centralized or decentralized exchanges, however there is only one Bitcoin. But, this idea often gets lost among the newly created DAO and DeFi projects and the literal open sea of NFTs where seemingly every brand is about to drop their own NFT project.

The more I dive into the world of blockchain, the more I feel people have gotten bored with Bitcoin likely due it’s simplicity and so they’re onto the next project of promise searching for a mix of economic and social upward mobility. And yet, there is an ever growing community of people around the globe that are becoming Bitcoin maximalists which, according to investopedia , "are those that believe that Bitcoin, which is the world's most popular cryptocurrency, is the only digital asset that will be needed in the future. They believe that all other digital currencies are inferior to Bitcoin."

When I think of a Bitcoin maximalist I think of Michael Saylor, Max Keiser, Saifedean Ammous and now I’ll add gclef05 to the list. Gclef05 is this episode’s guest’s Twitter handle and I call him Gclef for short.

I have long been looking for a Bitcoin maximalist to join the podcast and well, todays the day and gclef is here to as he put it “orange pill all of my subscribers”. The orange pill being the third option not shown to Neo by Morpheus in the matrix which leads to another world of possibilities - a bitcoin world

As a footnote to this episode, the Netflix documentary I was trying to think of is entitled CAPITAL IN THE 21st CENTURY and the hype cycle that GClef05 mentioned is called the Gartner Hype Cycle.

As a kid, I, like many, ripped music off Napster and Limewire, downloaded it to my desktop and then burned it onto CDs.

Since Sean Parker disrupted the music industry with Napster, the distribution of music has evolved greatly and landed us in a world of subscription services which give listeners unlimited access to millions of songs whenever they want to hear them - there’s Apple Music, Amazon music, Tidal, Youtube music, the biggest player - Spotify and many more.

But, how are these platforms taking care of their creators financially? What type of negotiating power does an artist have with a major platform like Spotify?

My guest today, Brandon Tory, is looking to completely overhaul the way creators are valued for their shared content with his company FORMLESS.

Brandon’s worked for Apple & Google and has spent as many years as a hiphop artist as he has coding, so formless really is the perfect blend of his two life focuses which are tech and music. And it’s fitting because I believe at the backbone of both good music and well designed tech is the aim to bring people together.

On the 1st episode of our 2nd season, Brandon shares with us how he got into hiphop, Silicon Valley and most importantly how his company FORMLESS will leverage blockchain to shift the way creators are forever compensated for their art.

I was raised in the world of Web1, went to High School and College in web2 and more recently have found myself not only immersed but fascinated daily by the people I meet via web3, NFTs and the metaverse. The metaverse especially is maturing seemingly weekly as more and more funding is allocated towards the space.

Citi bank has high expectations for the metaverse, with its analysts projecting the Web3 economy to reach up to $13 trillion dollars in valuation by 2030.

The metaverse has the potential to seamlessly blend the physical and digital world in an immersive way like we’ve never seen before.

And one of the key challenges to ensure that the metaverse flows is making sure we, as the metaverse’s participants, are able to express ourselves and maintain our physical world identities through motion as we do in real life.

And for this episode, I can’t think of a better guest to discuss how we will move in the metaverse than Remco Sikkema. Remco and I met on LinkedIn where his daily posts are an impressive window into how the metaverse will incorporate our human movement into AR, VR and/or MR spaces.

Remco is the Senior Marketing Manager for Movella and Xsens and really finds himself on the forefront of movement technology which will ideally allow all interested parties to one day move freely and uniquely in AR, VR and/or MR spaces in the metaverse.

As a footnote to this episode, I’d like to clarify two things - First, the NFT project I mentioned that had a technical problem and lost $24 million well, it was actually $34M. And secondly, Remco confirmed that the Xsens suit‘s price tag is not $10k but actually $3.5k and if you’re interested in acquiring one - please reach out to Remco on LinkedIn for more information.

In this episode, we discuss:

✔️ Web1 - Web3

✔️ Metaverse community

✔️ NFT wins and failures

✔️ Avatar communication

✔️ Motion-Print

✔️ Xsens Motion Capture

✔️ VR and AR

✔️ Afterlife Metaverse

✔️ Digital IP & copyright

✔️ And of course about Movella

In a more candid approach, Jarrett discusses the simple idea that 1 Bitcoin could eventually be worth 1 million US dollars. It's something that may sound wild but many within the bitcoin, investing and hard-money community think this number may be conservative even within the next decade. With inflation, money printing or what governments now call "quantitative easing", supply chain shocks, war and Bitcoin's 'halvening', we could see a $400k Bitcoin by 2024/2025 and more than a $1M Bitcoin by 2030 or within the next decade. Check out the episode to learn more and a big shout out to Saifedean Ammous for his influence on this episode via his book 'The Bitcoin Standard'. Also, be sure to check out episodes 2 and 3 for more insight on Bitcoin as an investment and a retirement vehicle.

In the world of web3, NFTs, cryptocurrency and the metaverse, things move really quickly.

It can often seem that a week spent exploring and staying up-to-date with web3 or NFTs or cryptocurrency is equivalent to 6 months in the real world as far as innovation and advances in technology are concerned. It truly is a space that’s moving more and more on a Lightning network both literally and figuratively. And it’s this speed in the development of the the blockchain ecosystems and metaverse that allow content creators like our guest today to thrive.

On episode 15, I discussed 9 ways the metaverse could transform our world but I now realize that I forgot the most important way it could alter what we deem as reality. And that’s that it could change the way we see ourselves; how each one of us presents to the world. It could transform all previously held notions or ideas of identity and the movie that helped me to see and understand the metaverse from a new perspective is Ready Player One.  On this 8 minute QuickPod, let’s take a look at what the metaverse will mean for identity through the lens of one of my new favorite movies!

Identity and more specifically gender in web3 is fascinating to explore as NFT communities are sprouting up weekly around the globe and unlike web2 or traditional tech, not all the founders are majority males.

In fact, web3 offers anyone the opportunity to be a part of a community, contribute, learn and add value like we’ve never really seen with web2.

My guests today not only see the potential for web3 to create new lanes for women but are building what they believe and I feel will one day be a blue chip NFT project.

As a women-led NFT project, MetaMoms NFTs is looking to empower more women into joining web3, crypto and NFT spaces.

Ryan and Noel are my guests today and their thoughtful approach and community-first attitude to designing their NFT collection is setting them up for some big time web3 success.

On a final note on the episode, Ryan and Noël shared with me off mic that they are going to cover gas fees which in the world of NFTs is truly paying it forward. They’re doing this to reduce barriers to entry to get more new people into the NFT space. And for that I applaud them.

Find them on social media @metamomsnft and be sure to reach out to them and ask any question about their project and/or web3, crypto or NFTs.

DeFi or Decentralized finance is defined as an emerging financial technology based on secure distributed ledgers similar to those used by cryptocurrencies. Defi eliminates the fees that banks and other financial companies charge for using their services. With DeFi, you hold your money in a secure digital wallet instead of keeping it in a bank. On this episode, let’s talk some DeFi as it’s a growing global digital financial movement that has gotten the attention of the traditional financial institutions due to the fact that it offers bank-less and under banked communities around the world a chance to earn yield or return on the money. Today, I’m joined by Grant Nieddu who shares how DeFi and crypto play a role in his life as an entrepreneur, coach, investor and on his own financial freedom journey. Grant’s optimism about the future of DeFi and crypto is perfectly balanced with his personal and very accurate belief that at the end of the day - - markets and the larger economy are driven by human behavior and psychology. Throughout this episode, there is a bunch of new jargon and we both do our best to define things as we go. If we miss anything of interest, please google it and know that the DeFi and crypto communities are constantly creating new vocabulary for the growing space. And like with all of the previous episodes that discuss investments and personal financial opportunities, please know that this is not financial advice but rather a candid convo highlighting how people today are leveraging DeFi and crypto to create value and build wealth. Everyday, we’re surrounded by design. But how often do we think about those who spend hours designing our world?  And beyond that, how are the creatives that design our world treated? How is their creative energy cultivated and encouraged within the the larger profit driven capitalist system? If it’s not being properly cultivated and encouraged, is there a better way?  My guest today is Jesse Rademacher and he’s CEO and cofounder of Madeium - and Madeium is that better way.  Madeium is a new-generation freelancer platform that brings together top design experts to build brands, products and experiences. It is also the world’s first blockchain innovation network that hopes to be the release valve for pent-up creative frustration.  Jesse and his team have been building Madeium for the past three years and it was humbling to have met Jesse in this moment.  The idea of design has been around a long time and it’s this history that has and will continue to inspire Madeium to create the future and not just think outside the box, but all together create a new one. For more info or to contact Jesse, visit www.madeium.com  Be sure to follow Madeium @madeiummade on Twitter and IG and click their links in bios to join their discord!

Delving back into the existential climate crisis, Jarrett references everything from Interstellar (2014) to Fern Gully (1992) to Avatar (2009) to candidly share his thoughts on the state of the natural world and how we as humans are "dealing" with the impacts of a warming planet. While not offering any particular solution, the questions posed in this episode are ones that need to be discussed both around kitchen tables and across the aisles of the US house of representatives. If the politicians are too slow to act and the corporations are too profit-driven to change gears, what are we to do? What can we do as individuals? As society? I, for one, am done with hearing buzz words and blah blah blah and no action.

It's often cited from cryptocurrency skeptics that the U.S. government will one day come along with regulation to ban or block cryptocurrency, bitcoin and the entire space.
