Anticipatory grief refers to grieving that occurs prior to the actual loss.

The mourning process begins prior to the actual death of someone, it is an awareness and acceptance of the fact that person is going to die.

It is important that you take care of yourself during this process.  Apply this Safety Plan as you go through this crisis:

B - Breathe, relax, meditate, gather your thoughts, think before you react

S - Selfcare (hydrate, exercise, eat healthier foods, get adequate rest and sleep)

A - Acknowledge your feelings and emotions, don't silence your grief, ask for help, talk with someone about your feelings

F - Focus on your faith, family and friends, prioritize those things that are important to you in your life

E - Embrace/Engage in your community, church, and co-workers, let those in who are offering support for you during this crisis. You are not alone.
