With Easter just behind us, I have been lost in the lingering echoes of Holy Week. While reading the Bible demands we place ourselves in the context of the narrative, the echoes of the text allow us to extrapolate the Biblical stories into our current life. Then these echoes act as a bridge, bringing the stories of the past to lessons for our present.

Eloisa Rice is my amazing guest on the podcast today! Eloisa is originally from the Philippines--born and raised. Now she's a wife and a mom of 3 who has a penchant for theology.
She is part of a team that teaches a 9-month long Inductive Study of the New Testament books, while also been the chairperson of 2 women's conferences geared towards fostering deep knowledge and love for God through the Bible. The Lord has called Eloisa to help disciple women towards true spirituality and perseverance in holiness in the midst of our darkened social and cultural landscape.

At 21 weeks of pregnancy, Kathleen's life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes and her water broke. After 5 weeks on bedrest in the Hospital she gave birth. As you can imagine, Kathleen's baby girl spent months in the NICU as Kathleen and her husband fervently prayed over their baby and loved her as best as they could.
Kathleen's story is not a simple story, and honestly, it is still developing. But it is a story of honest faith, raw vulnerability and deepening trust in God.

**The Greek word, “shield” is from the root word meaning “door or gate.” This kind of shield was a large shield, usually oval in shape and covered the majority of the soldier’s body. And just like the Roman soldiers had this shield for protection, you and I have a shield also and that shield is our faith. Our faith is the doorway between getting burned by Satan’s attacks and being protected from Satan’s attacks.

Ephesians 5 begins with the command to "Be imitators of God as beloved children." Paul then goes on to detail three ways we can walk out the imitation of God: in love, light and wisdom. Join us today as we get a birds eye view of how Paul develops the themes of love, light and wisdom.

Three times in Ephesians 4 Paul uses a verb "to build up" as a reference to the calling upon all followers of Jesus. What does this look like in 2023 when the American Christian Church is facing division and contradiction. How do we move forward as a body, a unit, a temple, while holding to the truth yet acting in humility, gentleness, patience and love? Today's teaching from Ephesians 4 will explore these questions.
We are going to focus today's teaching on the prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21, which serves as the grand finale to Ephesians 1-3. In summary, God, rich in glory, imprinted you with power to strengthen you for His calling. He is all more than you need for this roller coaster called life.

I'm honored to share Christina Wilkins' story on the podcast today! Depression crept into Christina's life while she was young in High School. Keeping her depression a secret, she resorted to self-harm for release from the inner pain. But God had a beautiful story to write in her life. She fell in love with Jesus in the middle of her depression, and he helped walk her through a deep healing journey. The journey included more depression, but Christina maintains rhythms of connectedness with Jesus and her therapist. You will love this story!
