The Millennial Misfits (aka The Mill Mifs) is a podcast hosted by Asher and Sheriston. Two 26 year old commerce graduates from McMaster University in Canada. We created this podcast as we are interested in sharing the stories of millennials trying to discover themselves and do something outside the box. We hope to follow the non traditional path and that is how this podcast was born because we know many people feel this way. We also discuss interesting topics, events, news and personal stories. Sensory deprivation or perceptual isolation is the deliberate reduction or removal of stimuli from one or more of the senses. Humans are constantly in a state of stimulation, whether from the news on TV, the music playing in your speakers, or the notification buzz from your phone - we are always alert. Removing these stimulants allow us to achieve a state of relaxation that is rare and much needed. Geoff is the owner of Go Float, located in Burlington, Ontario. He explains the benefits and misconceptions around floating and why everyone should be doing this at least once a month. Celine brings the perspective of a teacher, mother, and a friend as she details her experience of how schooling has changed over the years, the affects of the pandemic, and how she manages her kids and students in the twilight zone that is 2020. With the news recently that Joe Rogan secured an exclusive deal with Spotify to take his podcast to the music giant's platform, many of Spotify's employees are rumoured to be pressuring the company to silence the most listened to podcast in the world. In episode 35, we discuss sustainable development with Ale. She is a Colombian Canadian that has a Masters in sustainable development from McMaster University. In episode 34, we discuss the art of language learning and the experience of living abroad with our guest @glugbusta (on instagram). He is someone that can speak more than 10 languages fluently and continues to learn more while refreshing his knowledge on what he knows. What does it take to be a content creator? Whether you’re looking to get started or you’re a seasoned vet, there are plenty of struggles along the journey of being a creator on the internet. Asher and Sheriston dive into the world of content creators, being podcast hosts themselves on this channel as well as others. If you don’t know already, Asher hosts an MMA focussed podcast named the MMA Brothers Podcast and Sheriston hosts a business focussed one named the Generation Hustle Podcast. Between the combined experience, there have been many lessons learned along the way. One of which is - who owns your content? Is it yours or does it belong to the platform that hosts you? In this episode, the misfits explore the power of big tech conglomerates, whether creators hold the power or the companies, and much more!

Have you ever thought of working abroad? There are so many opportunities to work and travel at the same time (currently limited due to covid-19) that get overlooked. In this episode, we discuss teaching english abroad and how it feels to uproot your life from across the world. For those of you that don't know, Asher is currently working in South Korea as an english teacher for the second time! The Misfits discuss the process to getting approved, moving abroad and adapting to the local culture, and the ins and outs of teaching english as a second language. This news comes as yet another item that nobody expected for 2020, but we're growing used to that now (right?). This is confusing for many reasons - why is this released now? In episode 17, Asher (black man) shares his personal stories about his life going up in Zambia and coming to Canada as a teenager. He discusses the shift from being in an African nation to being in a city that is predominantly white. He shares stories of racist encounters and how he dealt with them. He also talks about the black lives matter movement and all the protesting that is currently taking place due to the death of George Floyd (black man) by the hands of a police officer. At this point, it is safe to say that the majority of the developed world is addicted to social media use at varying degrees. The statistics around social media use and its effects are well documented and hard to ignore. The good news is that you are not alone and there are things you can do to counteract these effects.
