So many people stay stagnant. They overthink. They come up with excuses. They blame their finances. They blame the timing of their life. Why are most people self-sabotaging their own success and growth?
Almost always it's a lack of CONFIDENCE.
CONFIDENCE to take the next step to create this new way is what’s the most necessary trait in my personal opinion. So many people sit on the sidelines just waiting for to something to happen or change for them and fall into their lap. That's not how the universe works. You have to ask believe and receive. You can’t receive without taking inspired action. This is where all your growth happens. This is where you change for the better and become the person you should be who has succeeded and knows how to handle the success. The person who knows how to handle the house, or cars, or the new promotion. etc. You see so many people don’t understand this part. Whatever you are asking for, you first have to become that person who can handle all that you are asking for. You have to go through the path and that means go through some trials and tribulations. You have to push your own boundaries. You have to try and fail and get back up and do it again. This builds character, persistence, attitude, vigor, strength, and confidence!
Two main ways to gain UNSTOPPABLE CONFIDENCE

2 Main Points of this Podcast:
Nina & Brian pull out all the stops for this episode, with science backed research, facts, statistics, and more!
Enjoy!
Inspire by a personal incident in the last week, Nina decided to discuss how to be self aware and conscious in an unconscious world/setting. It's easier to always take the high road when you have less human interaction with others. But most of us go to a job or work everyday that requires hours and hours of human interaction. With human interaction comes ego, trigger points, high emotions and the difficult choice of making a conscious choice or an unconscious choice.
Individuals who are on the path of reaching their highest potential usually tend to do the brunt of the inner work when it comes to self awareness and self understanding. After years of trial and error, making new friends, loosing old friends, shedding jobs or careers they don't align with them, distancing themselves from family members who aren't supportive etc, they tend to feel as though they have mastered "spirituality." But then they go back out into the world, and their human interaction spikes and one tiny incident can make them feel as though they took two steps forward in mastering themselves but then took 3 steps backward just when they thought they got the hang of life.
This happens to ALL of us. It is HARD work to always be self aware and always respond to people and life in a conscious manner. We aren't perfect beings. We are progressive beings.
WHAT IS SELF AWARENESS THOUGH?
Basic definition: it is the ability to pay attention to who you are and what makes you tick
Complex definition: it involves developing an understanding of your deeper beliefs, inner wounds, mental and emotional defense mechanisms and repressed unconscious material. In simpler terms it's; deep self understanding.

This week Nina & Brian are keeping it light. After a much needed vacay, they give you their "life updates" and share a few personal stories from the last few months.

Welcome everyone! If you're back joining us, thank you so much for your loyalty to our show and if your new then thank you for giving our a podcast a chance!
Today's topic was a suggestion from a "Deep Thoughts w/the Dixons" listener! Oddly enough, the night before this was recorded Nina had a terrible experience with overthinking only to wake up the next day and realize the podcast she has to record on is about OVERTHINKING and being over analytical.
There are two types:
For the Over Analytical/Over-thinker:
10 steps to snap out of it for GOOD!
For the Worry Wort Stuck in A Worry Cycle:
1 step to snap out of it for GOOD!

Last week we discussed jealousy amongst our peers. This week its all about romantic relationships and marriages!
In this episode we discuss:
1) Where did jealousy in love begin?
2) How did we learn otherwise and overcome the childish jealousy?
3) Is jealousy a sign of love or insecurity?
4) How to stop being a jealous partner
5) How to handle a jealous partner
Books:
Quotes:
There are better morning routines than Googling people you envy and hating yourself as a result. Jealousy is something we have all experienced at one point or another in our lives. But, if it's not healed it can consume you and eventually destroy you.
Fun Facts:
There are better ways to start your morning than bombarding your mind with what other people are doing. Subconsciously you are destroying your confidence, you are comparing and judging instead of focusing on YOUR well-being and on your path in this world.
Focusing too much on your peers forces you to be on the sidelines watching others succeed as you fall behind. It's your own doing. Your investing your time into falling behind whereas your peers are busy living their lives. This all leads to self hate, uncertainty, envy, jealousy, lack of confidence, and procrastination.
By comparing/observing others' way, you loose your way.

This episode is all about being/feeling OFFENDED.
Are you easily offended?
Do you always take what others do/say personally?
Are you always trying to defend yourself to others?
Being offended is by far one of the most negative emotional states one can find themselves in. When someone feels offended, they are basically giving their personal power away to someone else or something. How can this be healthy? How is this any way to live?
Being offended is a CHOICE. Allowing another person to hurt your feelings or allowing someone to offend you is nothing short of self-imposed mental cruelty.

TOPIC:
Throw Away Your Past/Your Old Story.
You may be confusing your past story with your current and future one. Too much attachment to our old story leads to victimhood, an unfulfilling life, and repeat scenarios. All of which is self inflicted and can be changed starting today!
In this episode you will learn:
To allow something from your past to dictate your actions or beliefs (which affect your actions, which then affect your life) is senseless. This type of behavior makes you helpless, makes you feel like you are the victim to life's circumstances. People tell themselves all kinds of stories and live in them as if they are forever attached to it. There is a scientific reason for this; comfort. Many individuals tend to stay in the past and replay it over and over again and allow their beliefs and actions all to be shaped by it too because they want to stay in that victimhood mentality. Not that anyone purposely does this but subconsciously its the ego's way of allowing individuals to NOT do the work that is necessary to bring forth positive change in their lives.
An example would be of a man who has been divorced twice and now chalks up his life to staying single and just casually dating around because "he's no good in marriages." Or he blames women all together for his lack of interest in a healthy, adult relationship. This man is replaying his past story over and over again and allowing his beliefs to be shaped by his past, and worst, allowing his actions in the present, be shaped by the past. His romantic will never change until he rewrites a NEW story for himself by accepting his part in the past experiences and making conscious changes to himself and to his perception of women and love.

"HOW DO YOU MEASURE YOUR SELF-WORTH?'
This is major. This question requires a lot of honesty and a lot breaking down old habits and patterns. It's not something that comes easy to all of us, yet I truly believe it's one of the most important questions we must take the time to answer for ourselves.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Today's podcast is jam packed with VALUE. Both Nina and Brian, this previous weekend with a lot of thought and dedication, "reverse engineered their life and goals." What is Reverse Engineering? This means you will look at the end result, such as your goals and then figure out how you will get there. What you will do is work from that end result backwards until you make it to where you are currently at. Highly realized people learn to think and feel from the end. That is, they experience what they wish to intend before it shows up in material form in their life.
On a basic energetic level, when we want something it all begins with a desire. It begins with liking or admiring something. Over long periods of time it turns into "want", "need," "don't have it yet," etc. The latter is negative energy and blocks your path to achieving or having whatever it is you desire. The universe continuously keeps in a state of "not having it" because that it what you are putting out and saying. All you have to do is stay in the desire, the admiration, the liking phase of something and take calculative, educated, informed ACTIONS towards it. Then it will materialize.
Nina's Tip: When thinking of your goals or attaining something you want, keep it light and airy. Think of it as a crush on someone. When you have a crush on someone you aren't negative, you aren't thinking about the future or the details of if, when or how you will ever be with that person. You just love, and bask in the moment and smile whenever that person is around, or when you think of that person. You are happy, airy and lighthearted about it. That is exactly how you should be when thinking about goals or things you want. Don't let the passage of time, make you bitter, or make you doubt or worst make you realize the goal hasn't been attained or you don't have that shiny new car yet. Instead continue to have a "crush" on your goals/desires AND take methodical, educated ACTION towards them.
Step By Step Reverse Engineering Your Life/Goals: After you heed the advice above take the following steps

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Today's episode is packed with "thinking outside the box." Multi-faceted people aren't celebrated as they should be in our society. Nina & Brian dig into why they should be and how anyone can work on themselves and their craft in multiple industry verticals and STILL be successful. A one track mind isn't a once size fits all approach. It works for some but for many it does not. Enjoy!
On this week's episode Nina & Brian continue the theme from last week; be better in 2020. Something we can all use a little bit of help with is forgiveness. A lot of us carry emotions of hate, fear, hurt, resentment etc. for people or events in our lives. Learn how to officially let go of all of this baggage, once and for all, and ring in the New Year with a fresh start!

Welcome to another brand new episode of this podcast! Today, in honor of this last month of the year, Nina & Brian reflect back on this year. They share the tough moments but also share the positive lessons they have learned and hope to apply in all of 2020. By taking you on their reflective journey they will show you how you too may have had a very successful year in 2019, all it takes a little peek in your rearview mirror to acknowledge just how far you have come. Many of the times success is made up of small insignificant moments, therefore, leaving us feeling like we haven't made strides in our life. This is almost always a lie. We ALL have made progress if we just take the time to look back and appreciate the journey thus-far.
Some hurdles we all may have experienced this year that Nina & Brian discuss are:
Fear, Doubt, Feelings of Unworthiness, Impatience & Insecurity
Some positive lessons your hosts will discuss that they intend on applying in 2020 are:
(1) Dream Big; you will always get what you have the guts to ask for
(2) Take Risks; the right people & resources will appear
(3) The more fearful you are, the more you must do it
(4) Enjoy Life more
(5) You will always receive your heart's truest desires, but not in the way you thought
(6) Become the vibrational match of who or what you want/to become
(7) Put on blinders, ignore the chatter of the world around you

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF OUR LISTENERS IN THE U.S.! Today's episode is brought to you by a "Deep Thoughts w/the Dixons" podcast listener! In addition to this, they get you thinking about the difference between negative people and those who call themselves realists. Is there a difference? Listen to find out! Enjoy!
This is Brian's dream episode and he was way too excited to record this one. For those of you who know him, he's been obsessed with conspiracy theories and today he comes in hot with all of his viewpoints on major controversial "theories." Nina chimes in with passion when things get a bit political. Don't forget to leave a rating & review on iTunes. Hope you enjoy the show! Thank you for listening.
While out to dinner this past weekend Nina & Brian started discussing what the future would be like for the next few generations..... they later came home and decided to record their thoughts on this topic. Ever wonder why we worry? Where does worry come from? Anxiety? A neurological disorder? Is it Pessimism? Nina & Brian share some of their research on this topic and explain the human psyche behind worry, why we should stop and how to get rid of it for good.
Does anything good ever come from worrying? Think about this for a second. Why worry? For what? It clouds judgement, it debilitates solutions, causes disdain, depression and mood swings, and then parlays into other areas of your life like a leech…. Is anything really THAT worth it? NO.

Nina shares the benefits of not yelling and also shares some tips on how you, too, can learn to stop yelling and take a much calmer approach to life.

We discussed childhood trauma in depth last week and touched on some of the negative long lasting effects it can have on an individual and one of them was victimhood mentality.
Today is going to be all about HOW TO OVERCOME THIS VICTIMHOOD MENTALITY:
At some point in life, everyone has had to do something against their will. Everyone has experienced a difficult time when she/he felt humiliated or betrayed in some way. Many of us have experienced the loss of a loved one, or even of our own health. Some of us have been victims of violence – at home, in school, or in life…
But while some manage to cope with pain, self-pity, anger and guilt, others come to see themselves as victims. The victim mentality is formed not only as a result of sustained violence or humiliation but also by the environment. Often people do not recognize and do not even realize that they are acting the victim.
Seeing yourself as a victim does not necessarily mean that you have been subjected to physical or psychological abuse. A victim is a person, who believes that something or someone is externally controlling her/his life. Victims see themselves as impotent. They believe that external factors control their life, and see life as a wall of insurmountable circumstances.
They feel compelled to do things against their will. They might complain, but they will still do what they do not want to do, thinking that there is no alternative. It seems like that the whole world is against them. Victims always feel dependent on the mercy of external forces and blame them for everything that happens in their world.
The victim mentality can be seen in all areas of our lives: relationships, friendships, career, family relationships, health, body image, self confidence etc.
But, today we are focused today on overcoming victimhood mentality from childhood trauma

Welcome to another brand new episode Deep Thoughts listeners! So glad to have you back & for those of you new to our show welcome! The lifestyle tip this week is MAJOR and based on some real life observations both Nina & Brian have made.
This week's main topic was suggested by a dear friend & listener of the podcast. It definitely took Nina down a rabbit hole of emotions while researching and also taught both Brian & Nina a lot. Although it is a very serious and semi dark topic, both Nina & Brian have made the effort to help their audience see the positive or see the good in something traumatic their audience members may have experienced.
This segment will be broken down into three parts to help us stay on track as we move through this topic with you guys.
Childhood Trauma:
Definition: trauma results from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or threatening and that can have lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning and physical, social, emotional well-being.
There are three main types of trauma: acute, chronic, or complex.
EXAMPLES OF TRAUMA:
Early childhood trauma generally refers to the traumatic experiences that occur to children ages 0-6. Children can experience various types of trauma including:

Happy Tuesday people! We are back as promised with yet another brand new episode of "Deep Thoughts w/the Dixons!" This week Nina shares a lifestyle tip she just stumbled upon.... Quiet Time. Sounds simple right? Many of us are so used to always be talking, listening to the TV, listening to podcasts, reading something, consuming some time of content at all times. Even when meditating we use youtube videos and headphones! Well quiet time is the exact OPPOSITE. It helps lower your cortisol levels, helps get rid of anxious thoughts, helps calm and center your mind and body and you can do this while enjoying your morning coffee/latte/matcha. It help you to learn to sit with yourself and not be at the demand of your thoughts or emotions but instead it help you to become very intentional in just being calm, present and grateful. It's a great way to start your day. For the main topic of the day, Nina & Brian share their personal sacrifices they are currently making for their careers and also put a positive spin on it for those of you who feel like you're sacrificing a lot as well. ENJOY!

We hope this episode helps you realize that it takes work, determination, discipline, and lots of sacrifices, in the short term, to get what you want/live the way you dream of living. Some of us handle it easier than others, and some have a very positive outlook while doing it others not so much.
Think about where you are right now in life? What can you do within your construct that can take you to the next level of where you want to be. If it's freedom you’re after then you should make moves towards that. If it's a promotion then I'm going to challenge you to think about your future. Will you always be at that desk or office job? How do you plan on 4-xing your income? I'm sure it's going to tap out at some point where they will replace you. Are you working for that pension plan after retirement? Did you know its really not that much?
These are the questions that ran through our minds that pushed us. We also have parents who are very entrepreneurial and create their own opportunities with no ceilings or caps in life or any area of life for that matter, and that’s what got my attention.
It’s not for everyone of course. But no matter what you are trying to do for yourself you are making sacrifices whether you realize it or not and you should prolly make sure they are all worth it. Play big, and believe in yourself more.

We become so focused on the everyday tasks in life that we forget why we are even doing what we are doing? This can suck the motivation out of anyone at anytime. An easy way to snap out of these funks is to always keep a little reminder, a note of some sort or a physical token that represents your goal.
For me personally, I just think of the future version of myself. I do it for her. I am driven by the promises I have made to myself. That’s what drives me. So on my toughest days, I just vision the 33 or 34 year old Nina who is looking back at her 31 year old self and thanking her for not giving up. Sometimes I get very detailed about this future “Nina”: Where I am living? What does my new office look like? What product lines have I launched? How big or small is my team? What do my campaigns look like? How many people still download our podcast? Has my business gone international yet? As I am thinking those questions above I am also answering them through my visions bc I know exactly what I want for myself at 33 or 34 years old. So then my current, unmotivated attitude shifts into an energized, motivated & inspired attitude.
I know this works for me, because I look at where I am at today…. and in a lot of ways, maybe differently, I saw 75% of this for myself 4 years ago.

In this episode Nina & Brian share their lifestyle tips on diet. Specifically adding more raw fruits & vegetables to your meals and why this is so crucial to maintaining great health. The main topic is all about confidence! What it is, how to work on it and how we deal with it on days we don't feel so confident. Today is all about confidence!
Where does confidence come from? Is it something we are born with? Is it something our parents instill in us? Do we work at it and become more confident? What’s the deal here?
Why even discuss confidence?
Two reasons. (1) many people silently suffer from a lack of confidence & it morphs or rears its head in several forms such as, shyness, some form social anxiety, fear of judgement/opinions from others, lack of belief in self, lack of deservingness for self, lack of self love sometimes too.
(2) A healthy dose of confidence can significantly help you achieve things in life and experience life in a much more fulfilling and joyous way. For example, who wants to dread going to the gym b/c they are self conscious of how they are working out or afraid of people coming up to them? The gym or your workout session is meant for you. It’s meant to be invigorating and fun and boost your serotonin levels not the other way around. Another example, who wants to sit on the sidelines of life and watch others achieve success and do things they love and not do them themselves b/c they lack confidence and mask it with fear. Fear of not being perfect, fear of failing etc. You have to be confident in your abilities, be confident that even if a failure occurs you will try again and learn and get there.
Think about it, this applies to any/all areas of one’s life; relationships, friendships, career, changing careers, fitness, body, social life, EVERYTHING!

After a long week away from home, Nina & Brian are back from a family vacay and talking about INSTAGRAM! Do you feel unmotivated, deflated, insecure & maybe ungrateful after scrolling through IG? You're not alone. In this episode your hosts break down the business behind IG and the strategies used that play with your psyche. Instagram is a great tool. It's so useful in helping get exposure and being creative BUT what consumers forget to remember is that it's just content...it's not all real. Perception is reality and it's imperative you keep your wits about you. People don't see the whole picture on instagram. You only see the highlight reel of someone's life therefore stop comparing yourself/life to instagram. It's a business for content producers, a creative outlet for artists, and a great way for exposure for anyone. Nothing more, nothing less.
Comparison is the Thief of Joy; it’s easier to gain tunnel vision and focus on your work, what and who makes you happy. Be inspired or motivated by others but don’t be envious or jealous. These all lead to very negative feelings.
This week your hosts Nina & Brian keep it simple yet effective. Gratitude is the single most powerful tool us humans have and we don't use it enough. This week learn new ways to practice gratitude everyday and revamp your mood instantly! You will manifest with ease, you will be happier, you will be more motivated, you will be more calm and you will definitely see progress in your life!
The POWER of Gratitude!
This might seem like a no brainer but if we are all being honest with ourselves, how many times do we actually stop and smell the roses? By that I mean stop to look around and be grateful for things as they are because c at one point we have asked and prayed for exactly some of the things we are experiencing right now
We live a very fast paced life, always chasing the next moment and postponing happiness that we forget to be grateful for all that is now. In doing so , you realize how far you have come and how great you are doing and it helps you appreciate yourself and how far you have come. It makes you hopeful and confident in your future endeavors but helps you stay grounded in the present moment which is very powerful; for you cannot create the future without being here now, in the present moment.
There’s real scientific data behind the power gratitude but not enough dedication to it and I think it should be. I like to keep post-it notes in random places and have little reminders set in my phone that force me to stop sometimes and just be grateful; which in turn makes me happy. I don't care how bad something is, we can always find the good if we look hard enough... past ourselves. There is always a blessing in disguise, there is always a silver lining you just have to be present and look for it.
Look around you and count your blessings right now…..

Nina & Brian turned it up a bit this week! They discuss meditation and self awareness. The benefits of both and how these two learnings and practices have changed their lives for the better! Get ready because this gets deep!
SELF AWARENESS :
If “awareness” is about noticing stuff in the world, “self-awareness” is about focusing your awareness on yourself.
It’s your ability to notice your feelings, your physical sensations, your reactions, your habits, your behaviors, and your thoughts.
You are aware of all those different aspects of yourself as if you were another person observing you.
Another way to think of it is paying attention to your intuition, also known as your 6th sense or your gut feeling.
Or as someone I once interviewed told me, self-awareness is about being honest with yourself.
We all have a self-image of how we want others to perceive us. You might view yourself as punctual, but in reality you are often late to appointments.
Self-awareness is about focusing on the reality of your behavior and not on the story you tell yourself about yourself.
Why is it important to be self aware though? Why should anyone listening even care to invest time and effort into this?
Listen to the full episode to learn how you can practice and learn self awareness.
Books:
Quote: "When I discover Who I am I’ll be free"
This quote is great b/c that's the ultimate goal. I don't want to be mad or triggered. I don't want to care what others think or their opinions. I don't want to disrupt my peace of mind with giving a shit of what religion someone is or isn't OR caring if someone is judging me for my beliefs. I want to live a free, peaceful, happy life. I don’t want to walk around this life reacting to everything and everyone around me. I don't want to suppress it either and then blow up one day…. So to become self aware you understand you allow and then you release. You learn so much about yourself, especially your insecurities, or need or desire to control others, unnecessary fear, child hood traumas, acceptance from others etc. You learn how much shit you take personally for no reason at all. It's all to your detriment. Eventually you just drop it all. I don't even care to be politically correct anymore and what I mean by that is I'm not trying to put up a facade or a mask around friends and family, We are all different just accept it… I do and it has given me so much peace.
This week things get a bit interesting as Nina & Brian go down the rabbit hole of a very perplexing question...do we have free will/choice or is everything predetermined for us? They explore metaphysical, scientific, historical & societal viewpoints on this question in hopes of spurring some deep thoughts from their audience. THE QUESTION OF FREE WILL VERSUS PREDESTINATION:
Do you ever wonder if we have free choice or will? Or is everything predetermined or destiny?
Last week Brian and I were in the living room working on our computers in the evening and he randomly asks me this question: I did have a response…..
My response was: if we aren’t being true to ourselves and are acting out of fear, judgement, confusion or pure laziness then i believe the universe intervenes in dramatic ways and you can’t explain why and it forces you down another path or another door meant for you. This is why I actively work on myself for myself. I try to be so self aware, and I question my own intentions, actions and beliefs and emotions that bubble up sometimes bc i never want to be forced by the universe I always want to be aligned with my heart and luxuriously create my world.
But, I think we were both left with some open ended questions well after my answer so i decided to make it a topic in hopes of our audience helping us out too. Bc I don't know even know is this a scientific question or spiritual question or a psychological question?
One of the oldest questions aside from where did we come from? How did the earth appear, is do us humans have free will and choice? Meaning, are we able to choose what we will do with our lives?
Our choices feel free don’t they? I chose to have a protein shake after my workout? I chose to eat an apple after instead of nachos? I chose to record this episode today? Listen to this episode to learn what we concluded.
Books:
Quote: "Humans are powerless, and even in our exercise of free will, either the universe is going to get down with your plan or it isn’t."
Do our male listeners still use shaving cream to shave their faces? You might want to stop and hear what Brian uses every morning. Just give it a try, you can thank us later! Nina & Brian go heavy on the topic of "Manifesting" or "The Law of Attraction, and how they each go about it in their daily lives. It's changed their lives forever and they wish to share these techniques with anyone & everyone.
By learning the secrets of manifesting, you can begin to change your thoughts and your life. You can remain focused on what you want to happen. And soon, your greatest desires will manifest.
You've probably noticed that you're constantly thinking about something – about where you want to go or what you want to achieve. Your mind is always thinking and manifesting something.
That's why it's so important to know exactly how to use your manifesting power.
Everything happening in your life is a reflection of what is happening inside of you. Whatever you focus on will take shape and manifest into your daily life.
Of course, you know that not everything you think about manifests. Otherwise, every time you thought about an elephant, one would appear before your very eyes.
That's because the speed at which your thoughts manifest depends on how much resistance you have to their actual appearance in your reality.
Resistance is why no matter how much you may think about what you want, it doesn't appear. Your resistance doesn't allow it.
Until you get rid of the resistance, your desires won't manifest.
But as you eliminate resistance, your desires will manifest faster and easier…sometimes manifesting instantly!
So ask yourself what are you thinking about now? What is manifesting in your life?
Three Elements of Manifesting:
Tip: Don’t mistake what we are saying here for “all I have to do is think and it’ll happen.” No, you have to take action too. You have to learn to listen to your intuition too.
It’s not magic.

This week, Nina and Brian have lots to talk about! The St. Louis couple witnessed the STL Blues win the Stanley cup, Nina visited her family back home in Pennsylvania and amidst all this they sold a company this past week! In this episode Nina & Brian begin to share lifestyle tips...are you drinking enough lemon mint water? Is your water too hot or too cold? Are you drinking fluoride free water? The main topic of discussion is something the couple is super passionate about.... traditional education and why it may not be the answer for success anymore. One size does not fit all. They dig deep and dissect the pros and cons of the current educational institutions and question the motives behind higher education and the high profits these organizations reel in while students across the country reel in high amounts of financial debt.

On this brand new episode learn what Brian surprises Nina with on her 31st birthday. As Nina turns 1 year wiser she faces her fear of heights and goes rock climbing. Brian & Nina make new announcements for the progressive plans of "Deep Thoughts W/The Dixons." Are you egotistical? Well you are about to find out and how and why you should delete your ego ASAP!
EGO: it's an unhealthy belief in our own importance. Arrogance. Self-centered ambition. The one that chooses getting his or her way over anything or anyone else. The need to be better than, more than, recognized for, far past any reasonable utility — that’s ego. It’s the sense of superiority and certainty that exceeds the bounds of confidence and talent.
How to Get Rid of Ego?
Books:
Brian shares stories about his latest adventures in Russia. It was a business trip but unbeknownst to him it would be quite the spiritual one as well. Nina decides to get the listeners involved & answers some personal questions. The main topic Brian & Nina discuss is RESILIENCE. Nina credits her successes & “failures” to her resilient character & discusses how she’s built it up over the years. Brian puts his take on resilience & how it stems off emotional intelligence & what he tells himself when he senses he’s about to react or be triggered. They discuss what resilience is, the importance of it, how to gauge where you fall on the resilience spectrum, attributes of resilient people & how YOU can build up resilience too with the proper mindset and dedicated effort.
What is resilience ?
The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. It’s the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress — such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or workplace and financial stressors. It means "bouncing back" from difficult experiences.
WHY are some resilient and others aren’t?
When faced with adversity in life, how does a person cope or adapt? Why do some people seem to bounce back from tragic events or loss much more quickly than others? Why do some people seem to get “stuck” in a point in their life, without the ability to move forward?
Well, everybody has resilience. It’s just a question of how much and how well you put it to good use in your life. Resilience doesn’t mean the person doesn’t feel the intensity of the event or problem. Instead, it just means that they’ve found a pretty good way of dealing with it more quickly than others.
Everyone can learn to increase their resilience abilities. Like any human skill, learning greater resilience is something that you can do at any age, from any background, no matter your education or family relationships. All you need to do in order to increase your resilience is have the willingness to do so.
A TIP FOR ANYONE TRYING TO BE MORE RESILIENT OR BUILD UP MORE RESILIENCE: Building better resilience takes time, effort, commitment, and focus. It will not just happen to you overnight, and it won’t just happen to you if read a book about resilience, or begin work with a therapist. It’s a process that will take months to learn and master. Don’t be frustrated by this, resilience is not a trait but rather a skill that you can readily enhance with patience and training.
In the most basic simple way, I could say, you stop caring about the outside noise. You don’t care about what didn’t go your way, or who’s saying what, or who’s doing what, or who’s talking to who, you just don’t care b/c u don’t FOCUS on it.
If it’s an adversity you are facing in the professional world or it's something tangible like getting sick or getting fired, again you don’t care, b/c you are now focused on finding a different job, or looking for ways to get healthy. You are NOT sitting there moping at the one thing that makes you sad or angry. You are focused on fixing it, mending it, or moving away from it.
You need resilience for EVERYTHING.

Quote: "Never Give Up"
In this Episode of "Deep Thoughts w/ the Dixons, Brian is getting ready for his business trip to Moscow, Russia, Nina is hanging back taking care of their two companies and the household. They discuss how they quit their traditional career paths and took the road less traveled which ultimately led to financial freedom, creative freedom, and no authority to answer to. They share how they channeled their energies into different avenues that they would have never dreamed of before. They dive deep into how to find your passions and then how to go about setting intentions which ultimately lead you to your goals. Nina gets super real about happiness and where you can find it. Hint: it's not found in your dream car or the lottery.
How to find your passion/purpose?
The first step:
This first step is huge and that is being able to openly admit to yourself that you may not be happy or fulfilled in your current career or job. This is huge. This step shouldn't be undermined. Because it is not easy to admit this after you may have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on education in a particular field, or spent 5 or 10 years in an industry that just isn’t what you thought it would be? Or just doesn’t make you happy anymore. Many people I know are already at this point able to say “this just meant for me anymore” I don’t know what I want to do but i know it is not this. This is important Because now you're telling the universe and yourself you want something more something different. How can we make changes in life without first realizing we even want a change? Or need a change? Another reason I personally believe this is an important step b/c you are more likely than not going against the grain now. What I mean by that is you are standing up for yourself in a society that commends people for spending a lifetime at the same job. Tenure is looked upon as some badge of honor. You are standing up in a society that does not yet fully realize that money and success follows happiness and creativity, not the other way around. You are standing up in a society that applauds a fancy title or a fancy degree yet they will put entrepreneurs on the cover of Forbes magazine many of whom haven't even graduated college. To be able to get out of the limitations that have been taught to us by the people before us is major and that's when doors and opportunities and success is unlimited. The possibilities become endless.
The second step:
You can start by getting clear on what your passions are? Well what is a passion? Your passion can be anything that simultaneously challenges you, intrigues you and motivates you. Contrary to the idea that doing what you love makes work effortless, a passion puts you to work. It fuels you, it gets you motivated, excited, inspired, resilient, focused, determined, etc. It's what you're willing to sacrifice lesser leisure and pleasures for because this passion means so much to you and brings you so much joy, fulfillment, creativity and success.
To learn what questions you can ask yourself to help you discover your passions listen to the full episode.
Books:
Quote: “The minute you decide you want better for yourself is the minute the entire universe begins to shift in your favor. Your declaration, your command, your intentions, visions, and prayers begin the creation of a new reality. All you have to do today is decide."
In this second episode of "Deep Thoughts w/ the Dixons," Nina & Brian discuss their personal stories around when they each became aware of the constant "programming" in our society. They share the changes they made to their lifestyle and how they continue to question everything and make their own choices after careful research.
If you look around at your reality, there is a programmed falsity that exists in this matrix, in this life we live in; and that is to; wake up, go to work, come home, eat, maybe have a few beers or a glass of wine, watch tv, go to sleep and then rinse, wash, repeat and do it all over again the next day.
This is literally how the majority of society operates and people accept it as true. As if they are just doing things as a means to an end. What a terrible life. That is literally slavery and people are sleepwalking through life totally unaware of how they can WAKE UP and actually pursue their dreams and passions. Life is about creating and finding what drives you to create your own experience. It's not about falling victim to being programmed by the illusions of entertainment that exist in the matrix. People that control our global population, which is a small handful of people in the scheme of things, want you to be stuck in mental slavery because they gain profit and control off of it. But it is up to each and everyone of us to break free from this mental downfall, take responsibility for your life and go change it for the better. The reason these controllers want you to be entertained is because a controlled population doesn’t ask too many questions and they obey like a bunch of docile sheep.
6 Major Things To WAKE UP to NOW:
Books/Documentaries:
Quote: "The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you're inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it."
In this first episode of "Deep Thoughts w/ the Dixons," Nina is excited to start her own podcast with her husband Brian Dixon and shares some background information about who her hubby is. They elaborate on the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. They walk you, the listeners, through how they have programmed their conscious state of awareness to always be engineered for a growth mindset. Nina and Brian share their practical steps and tactics that you can use in your daily life to have a growth mindset as well.
Mindset is so important. We are not taught how to think. We are taught what to think. I am happy to report that I focus all of my efforts on how to think as opposed to the later. Mindset literally creates our beliefs. Our beliefs create our reality. For example, if I have a growth mindset, which says “I can do anything” then I am going to eventually believe that and go after my dreams without harboring any limiting thoughts/beliefs. I will not procrastinate, instead I will be motivated and inspired. I will end up giving it my 100%. This will lead to success. Too many people focus/think about the wrong things in life. Their mind’s attention is on useless garbage.
I see people focusing on others’ lives and gossiping about them. I see people feed off others’ misfortunes as if somehow deflecting from their own pile of shit. What one should do is focus on themselves. Focus on health, focus on abundance, focus on your craft, focus on your family. Focus on the positives. Focus on the life you would like to be living. Focus on all the good in ALL areas of your life. Focus on growth and progress. Focus on being a better human being.
What is a Growth Mindset? In a growth mindset people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.
What is a Fixed Mindset? In a fixed mindset, people believe their basic qualities are simply fixed traits, and use their performance to document those traits.
What does all this mean? Basically, allowing the programming of your mind by outside negative situations or people or emotions means your in that fixed state however you are on the path of growth mindset when you become aware that YOU CONTROL AND STEER AND PROGRAM your own mind and once you actively apply this and begin to change your outlook, your reactions turn into responses. Now, you’ve fully entered the growth mindset and can apply this to all areas of your life.
