LIFE MORE ABUNDANT

It all happened in 72 pages. It was a short read, recommended by our main man Bob Proctor. To be honest, most people would rather not read it. It would rock their boats too much. Make them just a bit uneasy. Give their egos a bad case of the “yeah, buts…” Within those 72 pages, author …

Guest: Dr. Michael Breus I wanted to be a party animal…

But to be part of the party crowd you kinda have to be able to stay awake past midnight.

Uh, not happening.

Can’t say I didn’t try, though. No matter what I did, my best intentions for a Friday night would crumble amid a bad case of the yawns and heavy eyelids …. at 10pm.

I mean, people were just starting to come out and I was ready to go home.

It was so frustrating! I couldn’t understand how people could stay out all night and still function. It made no sense.

Now, almost three years after turning in my “bar and club scene” card, I finally get it.

I’m a Lion.

In other words, I’m genetically wired to wake up early, get things done, crash in the afternoon, and hit the hay while the Wolves and Dolphins are getting ready to paint the town red.

Guest: Sean Croxton I’ve always wondered…

What would it be like if I could interview myself?

Would I be able to open myself up?

Make myself cry?

Go places where no interviewer has ever gone before?

Of course, these are all questions that I’ll never be able to answer since interviewing myself is pretty much impossible. Though it would be fun to try.

But this week’s episode of The Sessions is probably as close as I’ll ever get to knowing what such an experience would feel like.

Guest host and long-time listener, Sean Baker, does a masterful job of peeling back the layers to reveal parts of me and my story that very few people ever knew.

Guest: Jake Ducey I’ve come with good news!

The podcast will be back with a brand new episode tomorrow afternoon with a pretty in-depth and vulnerable interview with yours truly.

Then we’ve got sessions coming up with sleep expert, Dr. Michael Breus, as well as the greatest therapist of all-time, Mr. Matt Sanders, revealing how men can get in touch with their Intimate Power.

Before we get to the new stuff, I wanted to make sure you were all caught up. Last month I recorded and uploaded a stellar interview with our pal Jake Ducey … BUT I never got around to posting it on the website.

Sorry. :(

Jake’s latest and third book, Profit from Happiness, is a must-read for anyone who feels disengaged, disempowered, and/or unfulfilled at the workplace.

According to a Gallup survey, that’s 71 percent of the workers these days. In other words, about 3/4 of us are spending most of our waking hours doing something we don’t like or even care about.

No bueno. We can’t let this keep happening.

So in today’s episode (well, actually last month’s episode) Jake and I discuss how you can find more energy, empowerment, and fulfillment … even at a job you’re NOT passionate about.

We’ll even show you how you can make more money while you’re at it.

Guest: Christine Hassler Greetings from Toronto.

By the time you read this, I’ll be sitting in a hotel conference room attending a small-group symposium led by Bob Proctor. So excited!

I tell ya, I’m cooking up some really awesome content for you this Summer, including a completely revamped website, a free ebook on how to end self-sabotage, doubt and fear, and indecision, and a long-overdue return to the wonderful world of YouTube.

With so much studying, writing, and planning going on, the podcast has been pretty inconsistent as of late…

But today I’ve got a brand-new episode for you with special guest Christine Hassler, author of Expectation Hangover.

This episode is GOLD for anyone who has ever encountered disappointment in work, life, and love. Which means it’s a must-listen for anyone and everyone breathing oxygen.

Here’s What You’ll Learn * Why coping strategies like distractions, numbing the pain with TV and food, and “being strong” never work in the long run … and how they almost guarantee you’ll meet the same disappointment down the road. * What surfers, horseback riders, and childhood temper tantrums can teach us about processing our emotions and moving forward. * Compensatory Strategies: why achieving your goal may not have been as fulfilling as you expected. * Why discovering your superpowers and your core values is the key to finding your true calling. I’m alive!

It’s been about two weeks since I last posted here, and three weeks since I posted a brand new interview. (The last one was a bonus.)

Did I take another vacation?

Nope, I’ve been practicing what I preach by following my bliss.

You see, as much as I LOVE interviewing our podcast guests, the prep time can take up to 25-30 hours. Doesn’t leave a lot of time to tackle the other projects I’d like to complete.

So I’ve decided to move the podcast to an every-other-week schedule for the next couple months. That way, I can finish the FREE ebook and 30-day program I’ve been wanting to put together for you.

This month I’ve been delving deep into The Science of Mind, reading lots of old books from the 1930s as well as more recent ones by today’s most brilliant neuroscientists.

Interestingly, if there’s one thing that these authors can all agree upon, it’s this: we become what we think about, and therefore we MUST protect our minds as if our lives depended on it.

Or as this week’s podcast guest, Tara Mackey, suggests, you must “always stand guard at the door to your own mind.”

Code Yellow Alert!

If you didn’t know already, a Code Yellow is when I read a book and just about every page is full of yellow highlighter.

That means it’s REALLY good.

The best part is that this particular book was a perfect blend of three of my favorite things: personal development, health, and storytelling.

And you know how I absolutely LOVE a good story.

The book is called Cured by Nature, written by Tara Mackey of The Organic Life Blog.

As tempted as I am to reveal Tara’s story here, I think I’ll save it for next week. That's when she’ll be my very special guest on The Sessions. Do not miss it. I feel an Instant Classic coming on. :)

If you want to get a head start, pick up her book here.

Unfortunately, this week I don’t have a new interview for you. Sorry!

BUT it would be totally unbecoming of me to leave you hanging for two weeks between interviews. So I’ve got something really awesome for you today...

I was having a difficult time coming up with something to write about for this week’s episode of The Sessions. Just haven’t been feeling very creative this week for some reason.

And then I heard that Prince passed away.

I can remember being a little boy, maybe eight years old or so, walking around the house with my Fisher Price boombox, playing Purple Rain, 1999, and Little Red Corvette.

Not only did I admire Prince’s musical genius, but I loved the fact that he was … different.

I mean, the guy would go on stage wearing high heels, skin tight leather pants, see-through tops, and fuzzy pink scarves!

For every person who hated him for his eccentricities, there was someone who LOVED him and wanted to be just like him.

It was as if he gave his fans the inspiration and permission to be themselves. To wear what they wanted to wear. To say what they wanted to say. With no need for anyone else’s approval.

I think we all wish we could be that way. Fully expressed.

I’m on a train.

Headed back home from Los Angeles, where I watched Kobe Bryant drop 60 points and score the go-ahead basket in his last game ever.

If it were a Hollywood movie, it would have been the corniest ending ever. The injury-plagued, over-the-hill superstar turns back the clock and gives his fans one final electric performance.

But it happened. In real life. I saw it with my own eyes.

Being a Kobe Bryant fan since I was 18, I’ve always been fascinated by his work ethic. The 4am workouts. The daily routine. First one to practice. Last one to leave.

While his teammates partied, he was fast asleep. Because at 4am the next morning it would all begin again. A lifetime of routine days shaping an extraordinary career.

Love him or hate him, if there’s one thing we can all be certain of, it’s that Kobe Bryant will never look back on his career and wonder how great he could have been. There was no procrastinating. No resting on his laurels. He did what very few of us ever do.

He gave it his all.

I can tell dating stories all day…

But there’s one particular date that I’ve played over and over again in my mind, wondering what in the world happened to me.

It was with the woman of my dreams, the spitting image of “my type”.

We agreed to meet up at True Food Kitchen, one of my favorite spots here in San Diego. I arrived a few minutes early to snag a couple of seats at the bar.

I felt good. Confident … but with the typical case of the nerves that happens before any first date.

Just be yourself, Sean.

Ten minutes later, I looked over my shoulder and there she was, walking through the double doors, headed in my direction.

Just be yourself, Sean.

I pulled out her chair, she sat down … and I FREAKED OUT.
