Human species has survived and thrived because it was active. And #running comes naturally to us. We are designed that way.

Running is not just about stamina and strength. There are four systems at work - Mental/Brain, Respiratory, Cardiovascular, Muscle and bones.

Just as in our careers, progress in running is slow and the steady and diligent are rewarded. Working on strength, stamina, balance, and rhythm is critical to improving performance.

While minor injuries will happen as we build strength, no major long term injury happens because of running. Most are due to improper preparation or over-ambition.

Running in a community or group helps to stay motivated and it's easier to follow a plan. This is especially important also for women runners from a safety point of view.

This book helps you to understand how to become Indistractable which I think is the superpower of the 21st century.
How can we stay away from distractions that keep us away from our goals is probably the power that all of us need. This book also busts the myth that we are distracted by the technology around us.
A quick disclaimer. This is not a book summary. This is just a book recommendation. I have read the book and I'm sharing my recommendation with you.
My suggestion is that you buy the book and read it.
Quick. Think of this. What is the opposite of distraction? No. Focus is not the opposite of distraction. It is traction.
The book is full of tips to hack back your time from the distractions that keep you away from your goals. My top two tips are:
- Calendarise your to-do list
- Resist your temptation for just 10 mins.

Earlier today I hosted a #managebetter show with #personalbranding experts Sakshi Chandraakar and Sri Ram Kumar C on #LinkedIn for Personal Branding.
This was my highest registered (1500+) show and even though I had a major issue with streaming on LinkedIn many of stayed on and caught the show on #YouTube and #twitter . I am grateful for your sustained interest and support.
So what were the top lessons from the show:

Find your Why? Why are you on LinkedIn? Who is your audience? What is your purpose?

Do not chase numbers. Becoming consistently visible on LinkedIn is an organic process and if your content resonates with your audience they will like and stay.

Reaching our to #recruiters is a two way process. Personal branding is primarily about making your brand strong and visible so recruiters reach out to you.
-
Create credible content that resonates with your brand. Random posts occasionally do get viral but do not do anything for your brand. This is organic and long term.
-
Your career success can be explained in a 10-30-60 rule. 10% is your performance. 30% is your brand. And 60% is your visibility
-
Be Real, Relatable, Respectful, and Responsible. Don't get into wrangling matches. It is a waste of time. Respect all opinion including yours.

Follow role models in your space and learn from them. Copy them. If possible tell them that you copied from them as well.
-
Don't miss out on basics such as having a professional photograph, crisp clear headline, adequate (but not too much) detail of your roles and achievements, etc.

Connect sensibly not indiscriminately. Your connections and followers count for nothing if they don't connect and resonate with you who you are. Keep your brand in mind all the time. What is your Why?

Keep learning. LinkedIn keeps changing and improving. Stay in touch with the changes. Example. LinkedIn recently changed it's post length from 1300 to 3000 characters.

Last week Balaji S Reddie of the #Deming forum, and I spoke to our guru and mentor Suresh Lulla on my show Manage Better. This was the season finale show and was totally worth it.
Mr Lulla is a legend and the foremost Quality teacher and consultant we have. A disciple of Dr J M #Juran, in this one-hour interaction he shared nuggets never heard before in public. Key points included:

- Vision comes when we are in consciousness about the benefit to others. It's actions beyond the Self.
- If all of us get better, humanity gets uplifted
- Vision is the most powerful tool for Leaders to navigate into the future
- If Vision does not INSPIRE, it's not a Vision that people would feel invested in
- Vision is a MUST Have for Organisations to be Incredible and Inspirational
- The #1 mistake organisations make is to be too egoistic about their vision. Be humble.
- What's Greater? My Problems or My Goals?
- We all need a vision even if we are not a CEO.

OKRs entered the business lexicon with the publication of Measure What Matters by John Doerr. Many small and large companies have now adopted OKRs and are achieving their objectives.
I spoke to three of India's top minds on OKRs - Vaidyanathan of OKR Stars, Sienam of OKR Edge, and Senthil of Profit Co on my LinkedIn and YouTube show - Manage Better.

I don’t intend to make this a class or a plug in for popular software vendors and will try to stay clear of that. I will cover why RPA has still not taken over the world and its impact on the profession of Process Excellence or Transformation.

Today I want to share a key concept in Operational Excellence that is often missed out in the rush of getting things done and fighting a fire a day. I have often said that Operational Excellence is a balance of theory and practice. Most of us are consumed by the practice and do not take the time to stop and ask ourselves – what is the theory behind this? Is there a better theory I can use? What are others doing about this issue?
The concept I wanted to share today is called - Runners. Repeaters. Strangers. This is a not often used concept from Lean Thinking but should be used more. Before I explain the concept, I want to highlight that 'differentiation' is the key to this concept. If you are a fan of the concept of 'standardization,' then 'differentiation' may seem counter-intuitive to you.
So, what is the concept of Runners, Repeaters, Strangers about? In simple terms, it classifies all work done in three categories – runners are the most often repeated and standardized tasks, repeaters are less often repeated but fairly standard, and strangers are once in a while and with hardly any standardization. Let me explain. Next time you go to a fast-food chain, try to observe the ordering pattern. You can do this activity at any fast-moving place, but I think a fast-food counter is the most suitable place for this study and I suspect if you have kids, you are visiting such places often as well. Observe the ordering pattern, and you will notice that most people orders a very standard set – maybe fries, burger, and a soda (also called cola in some countries). The next and much smaller set of people will order something more complicated but not totally unusual. And a third set will have a very complex order – maybe something that the restaurant only makes once or twice a day. You get the point.
