You just had an amazing relaxing trip, but as you head back home that vicious thought creeps back in: "You're going back to life just as bad as it once was." "You will never be able to live this calm in your personal life." "Don't forget to get the groceries, do the laundry, and file your taxes before work on Monday." The list goes on and on. And those intrusive thoughts can tear you down SO fast. But what does the Lord say about these thoughts? How can we guard ourselves for the post vacation blues? In this episode we will take a closer at some Bible verses to see what the Lord has to say on this topic.Â

They never told us making friends would be a challenge. Growing up, making friends was easy - we were stuck in the same classes with the same people or we lived in the same dorms. Now? Thanks to the pandemic was may be working remotely and have more freedom to travel, but the cost can be seen in the increased difficulty to make friendships. We may have a great conversation with someone we meet - but how do we move from acquaintances to friends? And if they don't agree with you on everything - does that take friendship off the table? In this episode - we will unpack these nuances and take a closer look at how Jesus befriended others.

Visiting Israel is not just a look into the past - it is a glimpse into what God is doing today. For the many travelers who visit Israel, they get the opportunity to experience God's Word come to life. They get to walk where Jesus walked, see the lands of Abraham, and reflect on the stories of Moses. But God's Word isn't just stories of the past, they are words of transformation in the present. Did you know that less than 2% of the people living in Israel are Christian? That can make it extremely hard to find a place of worship while you are there on holiday. Not only that - if you google churches in Israel - you will likely find a lot of markers for places of Biblical significance (ie. where Jesus turned water into wine or where Jesus multiplied the fish and loaves to feed over 5,000 people.) So then, how do you find a group of believers to worship with in Israel? In this episode I cover a number of options and share a few resources to help you find a worship service on your next trip.

Have you ever attended a worship service in an airport? Gotten to worship with other believers - or - taken some time to cry in a prayer room because your flight got delayed again? I had never considered this to be a possibility until I was at Chicago O'Hare and they announced that worship services were starting in 15 minutes. Despite all the signs, I never found the chapel - but this moment did cause me to wonder - do most airports have some sort of chapel? Are they multi-religious spaces or do they have services geared directly towards Christians? I decided to do a little bit of research on the topic and that is what we are diving into today.Â
If you want special access to the FULL list of airports, their worship service times, and contact information - that will be coming soon with the start of our special online platform for Christian Travelers. Can you attend a worship service on a cruise ship? In 2015 - almost every cruise line offered some sort of worship service, but today it can be incredibly hard to know which cruise lines offer a service or a space for Christian worship. I contacted multiple cruise lines and came up with five cruise lines that offer a worship service. Hopefully this is a helpful tool as you plan your next off land adventure! A full list of cruise ships & their worship service offerings will be available on our new platform - a place where Christian Travelers can connect, share their trips, and plan them together! Your story is part of a larger story - one that God is intricately woven together. And each of your travel adventures play an important role. In January we were about to gather with 40 people from around the globe to talk about different aspects of your story and hear from four amazing speakers. Peter spoke about the "why" behind your travels. I shared how like many of the travelers in Scripture, God is using our story. Esther shared how to connect with other Christian travelers on the road. And Ashley shared how to share our travel testimonies on social media! If you were unable to attend, or are wanting a refresher - this episode will show small sneak peaks into the many amazing topics discussed!

As Christmas is this week, I thought I would take a break from the word study we've been doing (looking at the word "journey" in Scripture) and jump to the Christmas story. From a travelers perspective we will be looking at the journey of Mary & Joseph to Bethlehem and the shepherds to the manger. In fact, we will take a closer look at why the traveling shepherds were the first ones to find out about Jesus' birth!
I would like to take this moment to encourage you to register for the Christian traveler virtual event: "How God Is Using Your Travel Story" on January 15th. You will get to meet people from around the world, learn more about their travel stories & share your own, and hear from four amazing speakers! One of the things that I find so tempting is to take my travel plans and ideas into my own hands and start acting right away without ever consulting the lord. I mean, when I get an idea in my head I just go full force. I have that creative passionate drive, but when things don't go my way - it is so easy to become aggravated with the Lord. But I know that the Lord would love it if we all would consult with Him before driving headfirst into our next crazy idea or trip. Maybe He would reaffirm what we were planning already or maybe He actually has something better in store - something that might not lead to burn out or cause us to be so wary of the future. But when we look at Joshua chapter 9, we find ourselves in an interesting spot where the Israelites did not consult the Lord. They acted from their own wisdom and their own strength. As we ponder this Scripture in this episode, we will also look at how this aligns with our travels.
Also, if you haven't already registered for the upcoming Christian Traveler Virtual Event: How God is Using Your Travel Story, then head on over to our website www.ChristianTravelers.net to sign up. You aren't going to want to miss this amazing opportunity to connect with Christians around the globe, share your travel story, and hear from some amazing speakers!
When you go on a trip, is there a general pattern or routine that you fall into? A rhythm to your vacation? A schedule for your day? In this episode we will be looking at Deuteronomy 28 when Moses reminds the Israelites of the covenant they had with the Lord. If the covenant was obeyed there were blessings, but if they disobeyed there were curses. It was a hard line to walk. Our journeys walk along this fine line too. We walk between the struggles of flesh & spirit, between law & gospel, in the midst of judgement & forgiveness. As we dive into this episode, we pray that you find a little more comfort in the midst of your wrestling.Â
In addition, we are so excited to announce that on January 15th we will be hosting a Christian Virtual Networking Event focusing on "How God Is Using Your Travel Story!" This free event will include time to network with other Christians, listen to some AMAZING speakers, and share your own travel story. Register now as spots are limited: www.ChristianTravelers.net
Take a moment and think back to some of the road trips that you have been on with your family. Are there any rules you have on road trips? Or when traveling with a group on a plane? Some of the first ones that come to mind or me are the unspoken rules like: not annoying other passengers, hold your bladder as long as possible, and don't ask "are we there yet?" - especially when you know the ETA. In this episode we are going to be looking at some travel rules that the Lord gave to Moses, and in turn to us. Not only were the 10 commandments rules for them to live by on the road, but also when they settled in their homes in the Promise Land. We will be pondering what those implications mean for us today.Â
Later today we will be announcing our upcoming Christian Traveler Virtual Networking event. Please consider subscribing to our email list & following us on social media so that you don't miss out! www.ChristianTravelers.netÂ

What are some victories that you've had in travel? What are some common quests and things that you have achieved while traveling? For many of us it's crossing something off that bucket list or conquering our fears. Those are great examples of travel victories, but when we dive in to Deuteronomy 2 we'll find that the victory that God gives them is a lot more war oriented. But there's still a lot of aspects that do apply to us so that's what we'll be exploring in this episode.Â
One of the upcoming events to mark on your calendar, is a virtual networking event for Christian Travelers, like yourself, on January 15th! Have you ever heard of someone passing away and not being able to complete something on their bucket list? In response, an individual decided to take the trip in memory of the loved one passed on. Do you know anyone who has ever done this? In this weeks episode, we will be diving into Deuteronomy 1 where we will see the Israelites on the brink of entering the Promised Land. Moses enthralls them with a final sermon and reminds them of the mistakes of his ancestors. Of the reason why this generation will be be the ones to reach the Holy land. The Lord had promised Abraham this land 400 years ago, but now the land was before them and Moses was passing the baton to the next generation.Â

According to Oxford Languages, the definition of a travelogue is: "A movie, book, or illustrated lecture about the places visited and experiences encountered by a traveler." That definition and that word is not one that I honestly encounter frequently. We more often hear about travel blog & vlogs, but when researching numbers chapter 33 (which is what we're going to be diving into today) I found that this chapter is a true travelogue of places they visited along on their trip. While many of these places we can't identify with 100% certainty, we do know that this travelogue would have stirred up memories of how God had walked with them every step of their journey. In todays episode we will be asking the tough question - how do you document your journey? And what travel memories stir to mind the activities of the Lord?  If your looking for opportunities to explore God's creation with other Christians, for a journal to document your travels, or more - please visit our website www.christiantravelers.net  Until next time, safe travels & God Bless!
Take a moment and think back to a time when you found yourself whining while you were traveling. Maybe you were a kid in the backseat asking the question "Are we there yet?" Or maybe you're an adult who was upset w that a flight got delayed. Whatever the scenario I think all of us can find a moments where we were ungrateful during our travels. It's a really peculiar thought because, ultimately you were excited about our destination and we're grateful for the opportunity to go. And yet sometimes - we have ungrateful hearts. In this episode, we will be looking at Numbers 11 to see when the Israelites took on an ungrateful heart in their travels. Hopefully, we can learn from their mistakes. (We can also learn to ask for forgiveness too.)Â

When it comes to travel preparations, there are different types of travelers out there. Some people like to fly by the seat of their pants and some prefer months of planning and preparing for their trip. As a result, some individuals find themselves packing for trips the morning of whereas others will have been packed a week before. Now I know, many of us might believe that traveling without plans means that it leaves the door open for God's plans. There's definitely a time and place for that, but as we reflect on Numbers 10, we're going to see that God created some serious organization and planning for the Israelites to help them travel smoothly and with confidence. I think some of that can apply to our own travels today, and that is what we will be exploring in this episode.Â

In this episode, we're going to be looking at when the Israelites followed the pillar of cloud and smoke through the wilderness. A literal sign and direction as to where they were meant to go and stop along their journey. Many of us are looking for a literal sign that gives us clear direction as to where God wants our life to go. And for some of us that goes so far has where, how, and when we should travel. While the Lord may not manifest for you as a pillar of cloud or fie, He does still give us a guide. We will be unpacking this in this weeks episode!  If you are interested in purchasing one of our travel kits, to help you lead your adventures as a ministry leader - I highly recommend you check our Ultimate Travel Kit.  If you are an individual traveler, wanting more ways to reflect and grow as you see God on your journey - then I highly recommend that you add one of our Christian Travel Planners/ Journals to your Christmas list!  For other faith & travel resources, please head to www.christiantravelers.net!  Thank you for tuning in to this weeks episode, until next time - safe travels & God Bless!
When I think of annual festivities and celebrations, some of the first things that come to mind are birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving here in the United States, and Easter. But in this episode, based on Numbers 9:1-14, than just celebrating that someone got another year older or that another holiday came and went, the Lord is instructing them to celebrate a past trip. Now, if I asked you to celebrate a past trip my guess is that you would celebrate it by either retelling stories, sharing pictures and memories from that trip, gather again with the people who first ventured out on that trip, or you'd go back to that place and reminisce about good times and make some new memories to. But the way the Lord instructs these individuals to go back and revisit and remember this trip is a little different than how I think you and I might do that.. So let's go ahead and take a look at numbers chapter 9 verses one through 14.Â

Have you ever found yourself incredibly excited for trip and everything in life and on your calendar is a race, a count down for that day? Whether it's something is super big like an international vacation or it's going to see your family on the holidays, it doesn't matter. All that matters is the earliest time you can depart, how long you could possibly stay! In this weeks podcast we are going to talk about a long awaited trip - one that Moses took with the Israelites as he led the people out of Egypt - 430 years after they arrived! This story isn't a quick and smooth departure, but rather God demonstrating His power to the Egyptians (& Israelites) as He denounces the Egyptian gods - one plague at a time!

Like the Israelites, we are set apart to be different. We are called to worship the Lord on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday... every day of the week, and everywhere. No matter where life & our travels take us. But sometimes people view our worship as being idle or lazy - especially in todays busy, go, go, culture. This reminds me of the story of Moses, when he first asked Pharaoh to let the people go worship in the wilderness. Pharaoh thought the people were being idle and lazy, and that was why they wanted to worship. In fact, Pharaoh made their workload harder in response to this request. Others may view our worship as a waste of time, but it's what renews our relationship with God and sets us apart - as ones who know our King.Â

Imposter Syndrome. A person who doubts their skills, talents, & accomplishments and fears being exposed as a fraud (Wikipedia). When stepping into your calling, or traveling for the Lord, have you ever felt like an imposter? Have you every doubted that you were the right person for the task at hand? Have you ever found yourself thinking: "Lord, please choose someone else!" Let me tell you - you aren't alone in your doubts. Moses also objected to the Lord, when they Lord told him that he would be Israel's leader and get them to the Promised Land. In this weeks podcast we will take a look at Exodus 3:1-4:17 and reflect on how the Lord used Moses (& us) despite his fears!Â

Have you ever been to a family reunion? No, I'm not talking about a gathering over the holidays - I'm talking about a destination based family gathering with extended family. I've been to a few - in Branson, at Disneyworld, in Tennessee. But none of them compare to the family reunion Joseph experienced when he was reunited with his Father in Egypt. After 15-30 years of separation, meeting his little brother, and three years of famine - the two are finally reunited. It's messy, it's beautiful, and it paints a small picture of what the reunion will be like when we go to our heavenly home.Â
I encourage you to read Genesis 46-50 for yourself, and look at God's Word through the eyes of a traveler. To ponder, what that heavenly reunion will truly look like.
If you are seeking opportunities to travel with other Christians, to explore God's Word together while exploring His creation - then I encourage you to join us in Punta Cana in January! Earlybird registrations are due by Sept 25th and officially registration closes in early October. Full details can be found on our website: www.christiantravelers.net

Over the past couple weeks we have been following the story line of nomads Sarah & Abraham down through their descendants. In this episode, we will be taking a closer look at Joseph's family's story. Specifically how one choice leads to a life of agony, guilt, shame, and ever growing pile of sin. As this family travels back and forth between Canaan & Egypt, the Lord works on their hearts and leads them to repentance.Â
As Christian travelers, we know that change of perspective can take time. As we walk through different scenarios, we learn and grow as we encounter different things in our journey that continue to change us to reflect our Creator. Sometimes, one of the hardest parts of that journey is repenting of our own sins and faulty logic. Join us as we dive into Genesis 43-45!

Growing up my father loved the saying "life's not fun or fair.' As a kid, I absolutely hated that saying, because I had this strong belief that we make what we want out of our lives and that God didn't leave us here to be miserable. So, if I wanted to have a joy filled life I could chase after that. I believe it was possible to produce an income doing a job that I absolutely loved! While there's a lot of truth to that, I have also grown up and I've walk through some toxic jobs, I've experienced the negative side of adulting - which is rocky and uncertain and there's this constant worry about bills even when the emergency fund is ready.Â
This rock road, reminds me of the story of Joseph. He went through a series of trials and testing: being sold off by his brothers, almost being raped by his Masters' wife, being put in prison, and yet he held onto his faith. He held onto an outlook that honored and worshiped God instead of falling into the sin of worry. In this weeks episode, we'll be be looking at Genesis 37 & 39-42.Â

Today, we will be looking at the story of Jacob and Esau. When God changes Jacob's name, Jacob really struggles with this change in identity. He goes from being a deceiver to the one who wrestles with God. Travel tends to change our identity, and it can be hard to explain that to those who didn't get to travel with us. So, in this weeks episode we will be exploring how we wrestle with our identity as we unpack Genesis 31 & 32. I will be also sharing a little bit about how my own name change influenced my travel experiences!

While I pray that you don't experience family/friend tensions while on your road trips or adventures, I know that feuds and tension are just a part of the uncomfortableness of travel. My family and I loved camping trips, but sometimes in the midst of packing there would be so much tension that by the time we got on the road one more bickering comment or one more frustrated word and we would suddenly find ourselves returning home and unpacking everything. Again, I pray this isn't you and I pray that you have the freedom to adventure without family feuds, but ignoring that they do exist is a problem. Today, we're going to be looking at the story of Laban and how he ends up creating family feuds that influence others travel plans. Specifically, we're going be pouring over Genesis chapter 30 and 31.

Raise your hand if you are a person who has ever traveled somewhere thinking that you'll gain a certain skill or you'll learn a specific thing and you've walked away with so much more from your travel experiences! My hand is definitely in the air. There's so many times that I thought that travel was gonna be an amazing blessing for x, y, and z.. and in the end I gained some of that - but I walked away with so much more! In this episode we're going to explore this dilemma between our desired goals & what God actually reveals to us through the perspective of Jacob, Leah, and Rachel in Genesis 29.Â

How do you know if God is really calling you to travel? Because if we're being honest those of us that love to travel - dream of the day that we get to travel full time! We have looked over our budgets, come up with all the scenarios, and we just want to travel full time. But how do we really know if that's what God wants for a life? And how do you respond to him if He says indeed it is or isn't our calling? So in this episode we're going to explore the Biblical story surrounding Isaac and Rebecca and uncover the many people stepped out in faith and responded to God's call even when it was questionable of what their journey would entail. I'm also going to share a little bit about my own adventures!

In fact, you may know someone who has never left their home town and have tried to persuade them that there are a million reasons to travel! What fears are stopping your from traveling? Is it the fear of traveling solo? Is it the fear of going overseas? Is it the fear of loosing your passport and wallet?Â
Satan loves to make our fears bigger than they actually are and stop us from going - right when we begin to dream!
But when we step out in faith - we remind Satan that God has already defeated him, and as such he can't stop us from being the travelers that God calls us to be!Â
In this weeks episode we are exploring why travel is important, how overcoming our fears builds our courage, and how we can begin the process of stepping out in faith - not only in our travels, but in all parts of our lives.
If you are looking for assistance in beginning your next adventure, Christian Travelers' Network is here to assist you. We are a faith based travel agency and we are here to help you book your trips and take you on adventures with other travelers. We have two big retreats coming up - one in Florida & one in Punta Cana. Oxford Languages defines it as: a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.
So is there any benefit in traveling with others who share you attitudes, interests, and goals? Or does their similar characteristics limit your travel experience? How can you be proactive in find a Christian community to travel with? If you can't find a Christian community - what should you be aware of? And if you get to travel with other Christians, how you can you help them along the journey?
All this and more in this weeks episode!

In this episode will explore why rest is important, why we forget to take breaks, how to rest, and why a reward mentality gives you permission to rest!

"I could never travel on my own." "I'd lobe to do that, but what if I lost my passport?" "You're super brave. I wouldn't know how to navigate a city when they don't speak my language." These are some of the automatic negative thoughts that Satan has placed in the minds of dreaming travelers. People just like you who want to travel on their own, but somehow get stuck thinking it isn't possible. While God gave us fear to make cautious and wise decisions, Satan uses fear to stop us from exploring the incredible world God has given us. They can tell that we are Christians by our love, but how can they tell that we are Christians by our travel? It's not that we go to the Holy Lands, it's not how we are preaching the Gospel from every street corner, and it's not that we wear big Jesus t-shirts. There are other defining characteristics that begin long before we travel to long after we return home that reveal our Christ-centered intentionality. In this episode, Stephen Liggins dives into what that faith based intentionality can look like in your next travels.
You can check out his book "Traveling the World as Citizens of Heaven" and connect with Stephen at Mathias Media.Â

Cassie Yoshikawa started a travel blog when she realized that there weren't many resources out there for Christian travelers who want to admire the Creator and not just the creation. That blog has been an inspiration for many of my faith + travel discussions and I am so excited to have her join us this week on the podcast as she shares a new perspective on tourists. She challenges us to admire the tourists as they admire God's handiwork and as they remind us of the awe and wonder in our own backyards!Â

Have you heard that inner voice of criticism lately? For every decision you make about Covid-19? About every decision you make when you respond to racial tension? For your mental and physical well-being? For how you are treating your family, co-workers, neighbors, and friends?
I've heard that voice too. Satan sure loves to tear us down in soo many ways. He loves to point out our failures. So today - we are turning to God and ask Him to show us how to laugh at ourselves. How to no longer be our biggest critiques, but our biggest cheerleaders. How to let what God say about us define us - rather than the criticism that says we are a failure unworthy of love.Â

We know that God created the world & therefore He created travel - but what does God say about travel? Today we dive into 10 Bible Verses and Stories that mention the word "travel" either in ESV or NIV translation. I then apply some of the lessons learned about travel in Scripture to our lives today.
Exodus 13:21 - God travels ahead of them in a pillar of fire or cloud
Numbers 21:4 - As they traveled through venomous snakes they had to look up to the bronze snake.
Isaiah 33:8 - The cry of people to their gracious God when travel ceases.
Matthew 23:25 - Jesus calls out the intentions of the scribes & pharisees when they travel.
Acts 9:7 - Saul experiences Christ through a blinding light while traveling to persecute Christians.
Acts 8:36 - Eunuch reads the Bible while traveling and gets baptized.
Mark 1:39, Luke 8:1, 2 Cor. 8:19 - Jesus and the apostles are traveling to spread the Gospel and grow God's Kingdom on earth.
Luke 2:44 - Mary & Joseph travel home and Jesus goes missing.
To further explore travel in Scripture - look up these verses, read them in context (surrounding verses, titles, chapters, etc.), and then explore what God was teaching the people then an how it applies to our lives today.

What does a slave trade location, strawberry milkshakes, and VBS all have in common? They all were part of my time in Ghana, Africa. Thomas doubted. He wanted to put his trust in his eyes rather than in his faith. Have you ever been tempted to trust your eyes? You saw God show up in your travels last week, but this week - where is He? We conclude our Lenten series by looking at Jesus' Resurrection in John 20:1-31.
In response to this episode we are holding each other accountable in our devotional reading by sharing in our Facebook Group: Why is tempting for you to put your turst in your sight rather than in your faith? Why's it easier to trust when you "see God in your travels" or you "feel Him in worship," but not when you can't seem to "find Him?" When you read John 20:1-31 what verses does the Holy Spirit drawing your attention to? What verses do you have questions about?Â

When asked who they wanted released from prison - Barnabas (a filthy scoundrel) or Jesus (sinless in every way) they cheered "Barnabas!" When asked what to do with Jesus they shouted "Crucify him." Would you cheer to have Jesus killed? Would you cheer to have a criminal released and the Savior executed? This is part 6 of our Lenten series, where we are looking at the story of Jesus' Crucifixion in Matthew 27:11-66.
In response to this episode we are holding each other accountable in our devotional reading by sharing in our Facebook Group: If you could stand in Barnabas' shoes, how would you feel seeing the Savior of the World take your place? What are some praises you have for humble and obedient Savior? When you read Matthew 27:11-55 what verses does the Holy Spirit drawing your attention to? What verses do you have questions about?Â

Jesus called Judas out at the dinner table: "The one who dipped his hand in this dish with me will betray me." All eyes were on Judas, questioning and wondering what Jesus meant. And did Judas still go commit that sin? Yes. Would you still go commit a sin even if Jesus called you out on it? As we continue our Lenten Series (part 5), we are taking a look at Matthew 26:1-27:10 and examining the events that led to Jesus' crucifixion.Â
The goal of our Lenten series is to bring Christian Travelers together in Bible Study so that we can be holding each other accountable in our faith walk. In response to this episode we are inviting everyone to respond to the following questions in our Facebook Group: How would you mentally, physically, or emotionally respond if Jesus called you out before you committed a sin? What would be going on in your mind as you committed the sin? When you read Matthew 26:1-27:10, what things did the Holy Spirit draw your attention to or would you like clarification on?
