We all know that being consistent is key when it comes to podcasting or growing a business, right? But here's the thing: just posting on social media won't magically bring in your dream audience. Unpopular opinion, right?
Turns out, we need to step out of our comfort zones and actively go find our people. Picture it like throwing an epic party at your house. You've got the decorations, the food, the music, but if no one knows how to get there, you're just standing on your lawn yelling at random passersby. Not the best strategy, huh?
So, we need to seek out those digital "watering holes" where our ideal people hang out. It could be well-run Facebook groups, paid networking groups, or collaborating with other podcasters. Hit PLAY on this episode to learn how to find your people!

A lot of coaches in the online space often don’t teach the importance of actively finding your audience. Posting on social media may only reach a small percentage of your existing followers. You can explore Facebook groups that align with your target audience or join paid networking groups that can offer valuable connections and collaborations. * The importance of borrowing audiences and collaborating (how to do it RIGHT!). Engage with people who follow influencers or podcasters similar to your niche. Also consider guesting on other podcasts or doing collaborations to reach new audiences. * The key in shifting your mindset to serving rather than selling. Interact with potential listeners as individuals, not just for self-promotion. Focus on building relationships and providing value. * How to incorporate 1-to-1 strategies as well as 1-to-many, balancing interactions on social media with other approaches like speaking engagements. * The permission to prioritize investing time in finding new people over excessive social media posting. How Do You Work Toward Specific Results But Detach From the Outcome? First... A Personal Update We are getting ready to go to Colorado for September for a very special reason (HINT: we are growing our family!). I’ll let you listen in on all the details to get the inside scoop! I want to thank you for the support, messages, feedback, and glowing reviews over the past few years. It means the world to me to hear how these episodes have been valuable and impactful for you!
Don’t ever stop because you are the reason we are here celebrating 100 episodes!!
Detaching From the Outcome Detaching from the outcome is the name of the game in business and life. We can put in all this work in one area or another, and we can show up every day and try to move something forward, but there comes a point where we are not ultimately in control of how things will turn out.
There is a delicate balance between preparation and anticipation of the outcome.
I have been asking myself lately how much can I prepare in order to to feel good about the best possible result while still knowing the outcome may turn out differently than I am hoping for.
This pressure has not only changed my mindset for the better, it’s helped my business too. My constant question is, How can I do everything faster? With my current situation, I don’t have time to overthink things, redo something, or move slowly.
And I’m reminded that when there is pressure, we have to take action.
So my question to you is:
Where can you create positive pressure in your life to make decisions faster and take action more quickly?
The sooner you get into action, the sooner you will get momentum and results! You will be able to scale your dreams, goals and business.

Improve Your Speaking & Communication Skills This week on the podcast we have a guest who knows a thing or ten about speaking with more confidence and impact. This is more valuable today more than ever before as we are having to be on video at our jobs and using it to stay connected to colleagues. Not to mention that as an entrepreneur or business owner, speaking about our expertise and services is almost mandatory for business growth. The key is learning how to show up confidently online and attract more customers into your world.
Jessica Chang Irish is an Emmy-award winning TV news reporter turned speaking coach who empowers ambitious professionals looking to build their influence through in-person and on-camera speaking.
She reveals how she went from a 4-time Emmy award winning news reporter to a speaking coach. (HINT: she had to wake up at 2AM and cover all sorts of horrific news stories.)
We dive into several hot topics, including how to build your influence and connection with ideal clients through simple weekly video tips, and how to introduce yourself so people remember you.
This episode is for you if you want to speak more confidently in meetings on camera or even introduce yourself to others in order to best represent your brand or business.
Jessica has made all the mistakes so you don’t have to. She even reveals she still gets nervous speaking in front of others. She reminds us that it’s not about overcoming fear, but about managing the butterflies. It’s ok to have butterflies, you just need to teach them to fly in the same direction.
Tips to Showing Up Better on Video Inside this episode, Jessica dives into her best tips, including:
Practice Makes Perfect… Or Does It? If you were wondering just how much to practice before presenting in a meeting or turning on the camera, Jessica helps us find the balance between preparation and authenticity. (You don’t want to try to memorize something word-for-word.)
But it is important to practice on camera so you can review and notice your hand gestures, facial expressions and intonations you never have noticed before. This is important because 93% of the message people are taking in when they are watching you is non-verbal. Gestures matter!
Make a Good Lasting First Impression We can all make a good impression but how do we make a good lasting first impression?
Jessica does some hot seat coaching with me inside this episode on how to deliver a great elevator pitch.
For you to be memorable, frame it like this (here is mine that we worked on together in real time):

Have you ever had a strange sickness or ailment come out of nowhere? That is usually a good moment to take a look under the surface and see if there is more to the story than meets the eye!
The biggest lesson I learned through my own healing journey a couple years ago is that physical issues are often manifestations of other things happening in your life. There is a strong mind-body-soul connection that is undeniable once you start paying attention.
My guest on the podcast today knows a thing or two about the the path to healing and freedom.
Lily Gyamfi-Kumanini is a Transformational Healer, Speaker & Coach, who empowers women to rediscover their voice, own their story, & gain access to their natural gift of healing. She imparts a message of worthiness and empowerment in her coaching work.
After years of enduring challenges due to emotional and physical trauma, she has developed empathy and compassion for helping others through her REIGN METHOD: heal-create-live.
Inside this episode we talk about how to use these (3) steps to get the life you really want.
Lily shares about an identity crisis she experienced when she moved to the Bahamas with her now hubby, and we end up processing it in real-time inside this episode.
Plus, find out why we think “Time heals all wounds” is garbage advice!
While listening you will also learn:
Ultimately, Lily encourages us to reconnect with our voice, own our story & define our worth. This is the path to a life (and business!) we have only dreamed of.

The Complete Plan for (New or Burned Out!) Entrepreneurs There are a lot of competing opinions about how to build out a social media content strategy plan. Inside this episode I’m going to give you the only (3) content pillars you need when starting out (or burned out!).
There is so much content out there and there can be a ton of pressure to feel like you have to show up every day and produce endless amounts of content. There is nothing you “should” be doing in your business - it’s your business.
Now, you will need some social media presence if you are wanting to monetize your expertise and get clients online, but you don’t have to burn out doing it. I’m going to show you a super simple way to stay relevant without posting 24/7.
Your new motto: Simplify to Amplify

This week we are talking all about how to make your content more juicy!
Here are a few reasons why this matters:
#1: People have minuscule attention spans. You have to stand out quickly as people are scrolling or being bombarded by emails. You can’t just do the status quo when it comes to producing content.
#2: The sheer volume of content being produced, across massive amounts of platforms - this means your content has to shine above the noise.
I want to emphasize quality over quantity because you don’t need to burn yourself out posting 3x a day on ALL the platforms. That can be effective when you are scaling your business and have a team to support you, but we are going to keep it simple. I recommend picking 1-2 platforms and going all in those.
Remember, it takes 3-6 months to get traction on any one platform so stick with it!
This episode focuses on creating for social media and email content, because having an email list is super important to building a brand, business or side hustle. You can use these principles for building better content that converts across your social platform of choice.
The two questions you need to ask when creating content These are the 2 questions you absolutely must always ask yourself before putting out any type of content:
Creating content should always be for your audience (not you!). If your content can’t answer those 2 questions, then adjust it or delete it.
Hit PLAY to hear the (6) keys to juicy content and how to incorporate each one in your content creation process! At the end, I reveal the behind-the-scenes view of taking a client’s social media posts and giving them a glow up. I made small tweaks and share all the details so you can make these changes in your own copy too!
PLUS - I give some fire bonus tips at the end of this episode on having the strongest CTA possible in every social post and email, in order to convert followers to customers!

This is a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of exactly how I created my brand new digital program, Built for Purpose, in 6 days. Listen in and learn how you can do it too!
Here’s the thing. You could spend months perfecting an amazing program, but success favors speed. We have to make quicker decisions in our business to make things profitable. So often the only thing standing in our way is us, overthinking something.
The key to creating a digital course is just to do it, and do it quickly.
Listen in to learn:
The sooner you can put your program out there, the more feedback you will receive to make it better for the 2nd, 3rd… 8th version. That is why it doesn’t have to be perfect the first time around.
If you have been wanting to get a digital course out into the world, get it done in a week and share your gifts. It’s time, my friend.

Have you ever wanted to see your name in special publications or media outlets?
This week I am sharing an exclusive behind-the-scenes scoop on how I have gotten articles published for Create & Cultivate and interviewed in really cool and notable publications such as Forbes, Well+Good, Best Life and so many more.
I’m sharing exactly step-by-step how I did it, and you can too.
You probably know that getting featured in reputable media outlets is one of the top things you can do to build credibility at any stage of your career or business.
After all, that means a reputable media outlet has trusted their audience to you and it goes a long way in building credibility with your audience.
But first, let's address the elephant in the room. (do you see it too?)
Does saying you are an expert in a certain area make you sweat a little?
Hellooo imposter syndrome!
If you have had any of these thoughts, you are not alone:
These are all limiting beliefs.
The truth is that everything you’ve gone through in life up to this exact moment allows you to speak from your experience.
No matter what level you are at, you have tools and resources to share with someone else.
You only need to be one step ahead of someone else to be able to provide value to them.
You have everything you need right now to start getting featured in your favorite publications.
There are a few key things you can do to get your pitch to the exact right person and have it stand out in the crowd.
Give this dynamic episode a listen and then send me a quick message on IG saying you enjoyed it!

Long gone are the days where you can post a pretty picture to Instagram with a simple caption like... "Fun Summer Dayzzz." Beautiful images, vague captions and generic quotes are not going to get the results you need... which for my clients is building a business.
Let's face it, to play the social media game and get engagement (and clients!) from your content means you need to be showing up on video.
You may feel like there is a LOT of noise online and wonder how the heck you can stand out from the crowd.
If so, I have great news.
This week we have a special treat on the podcast to teach us about showing up as ourselves on video on social media.
And more importantly, what showing up on video can do for your business and your life!
Dana Bowling is a brand strategist and video coach. And she happens to be one of my all-time favorite people to follow on social media.
So when I thought about podcast guests you just had to experience, she immediately came to mind.
Dana gives us tips on how to get out of your own way when you hit record so you can get that content off your phone and into the world...
And impacting other people's lives.
(Hint: the only way to get better is to do it!)
The fear is never going to go away watching from the sidelines.
Mindlessly scrolling.
Consuming until you get overcome with comparison-exhaustion.
Dana challenges us to get past our fears and go one step further to get our messaging right so we will become a magnet for clients to come to us.

Bold truth coming in hot! Aligning your core values with your work is the only way to experience fulfillment in your career or business. I call this unlocking the power of your purpose.
Inside this episode I reveal the juicy details over my recent crisis in values, what it looks and feels like, and how to get out of it.
Being a former marital and family therapy associate, and having a psychology degree, I'm really obsessed with how we are wired and what motivates us. Listen in as I go on a deep dive into this idea that we have dominating core values, and how they change over time.
I’ll reveal why my core values are driving me to relaunch the podcast, and show up and serve my community in even more impact and more meaningful ways than I was before. I share why I paused the podcast in the first place, what I’ve been working on this past year, and why it’s ok to pivot and re-evaluate things. Sometimes that’s the only way to come back stronger!
Inside this episode, I also teach what it means to you use the P.O.W.E.R. formula to step into your purpose. A lot of times we choose work for so many different reasons, maybe we're influenced by our parents or friends or how we can make money or what we studied in college, or maybe a particular teacher in school helped influence our career path.
And then at some point, we connect with a deeper core value that doesn’t align with our work anymore. For you, this might look like you’ve had success in your career, climbed this corporate ladder and then realized it isn’t what you want anymore.
Are you looking to clarify your next steps into more purpose and meaning in your work? Schedule a FREE strategy call today!
Have you been letting fear take a hold of your life and preventing you from getting into action around your next big idea? Are you paralyzed from moving forward because you find yourself terrified of “failing?”
If so, you’re in the right place. This is a jam-packed practical episode to push through fear and redefine failure so you can get moving forward in your business and life.
Here’s the truth: You will never feel fully ready.
You will never wake up and feel 100% fearless.
Sometimes you have to push through & go for things.
Failure is not meant to shut us down. It’s used to spur growth and character.
Failure is not what we think in the traditional sense of the word. We need to redefine the word... and I think you'll relate and really like the new definition I give you.
I'll also walk you through a few simple exercises to help you get out of your own way!

The riches are in the niches!
Have you heard this phrase and are left wondering why you need to niche down and how the heck to do it?
On this episode we dive into it.
FIRST, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO NICHE?
People pay for a specialty solution to an urgent problem. They don’t just pay for better health or more confidence. Those things go on to help them accomplish a tangible result they are after.
In other words, your offer won’t fly off the shelf if it’s not solving a specific problem and offering a tangible result.
AND WHY IS IT SO DANG HARD TO NICHE?
We are big-hearted humans who want to help a lot of people solve a lot of problems. Also.. being clear about something we are emotionally tied to is hard to do on our own.
OK, SO HOW DO I NICHE?
Ask the following questions:
It’s no secret that niching is hard to do, but that’s it’s necessary for the growth of your business.

For example...
BUT if you have you ever said the following, then you are NOT alone:
I get it. I started my podcast, Power Your Purpose, two years ago and had all the same fears.
Here's the truth. I didn't feel at all ready to start a podcast. * I hacked and cobbled my way through YouTube, learning DIY-style for MONTHS... before I realized there was a much easier way. * I recorded my first episode 6 times, and then was too embarrassed to release it because I wasn't used to the sound of my own voice. But now, 70+ episodes later, I've learned how to...dare I say it... really love my voice with some tweaks & tips. * I had ZERO audience to start... but I built an engaged community through releasing consistent episodes (and a few other tricks up my sleeve). * I didn't know the first thing about how to reach out to book guests... but I created and perfected pitch templates that work more than 90% of the time with ease.
So, tune in to this episode ASAP and learn from ALL my mistakes, and what I would do differently if I had to do it all over again, from the beginning.

Today's episode is uniquely personal. I am sharing an update on some things we have been battling over the last 6 1/2 years as we work tirelessly (and unsuccessfully) to grow our family.
If you have been through similar struggles, know anyone who has, or are just curious what it is like... I invite you to come peek inside this journey.
On this episode, I share a personal essay I wrote this week titled: Infertility, IVF, Miscarriage.. Inside Our Uphill Battle to Have a Family.

As we all work to recover from the loss and change this year has brought us, there are two qualities that can help us: curiosity and creativity.
My guest on the podcast this week, Van Lai-Dumone, believes we are all innately curious and creative.
The trick is tapping into and deepening our capacities for curiosity and creativity… and in doing so, amazing new opportunities will open up to us.
This is the foundation of Van’s work as the Founder of worksmart, a progressive team development and leadership training company that activates creativity and experiential learning to enrich company culture and skyrocket performance.
Her clients include game changers such as Google, LinkedIn, and Pandora.
And today, she’s sharing all of her tips and resources with us!
Born in Vietnam and raised in Southern California, after her family fled Vietnam as war refugees, Van watched her parents pave a new life for themselves. She saw first hand how creative thinking, innovation, and curiosity can help people overcome their circumstances.
Van shares this story in her TEDx Talk titled, ‘What if? The Life Changing Power of Curiosity’.
An entire industry was born through the kindness and generosity of one Hollywood movie star, along with the tenacity and perseverance of 20 Vietnamese women. Van’s mother was one of these 20 maverick women — having lost everything, including their country — who paved the way for Vietnamese women and men in the nail industry.
40+ years later, the Vietnamese nail industry is a multi-billion dollar industry.

Heather Sager helps online entrepreneurs be seen as an authority in their industry by speaking live and on virtual stages without winging it.
Heather had some major life challenges early on, with a severe hearing loss beginning in her 20s, and she can now only have a conversation by wearing hearing aids. It took her nearly 6 years to actually get the help she needed, which influenced how she communicated with others.
You will be inspired by her story, as she was eventually able to turn a hearing impediment into a beautiful gift as she began to look beyond the words people say— and to understand emotion, intentions and body language, which are all very important ways we communicate.
Along her career path, Heather has learned that our success is often limited by our ability to articulate a vision and get others onboard. Which is why she has dedicated her life to helping others do just that.

Today we are doing a deep dive into your money mindset. I’m going to share why I don’t think you have to sacrifice having a job that gives you purpose with earning a good salary. I also give you 3 areas to evaluate your own money mindset, in order to explore your thoughts and beliefs about money.
Your money mindset is typically formed in early childhood by observing and internalizing the messages around money learned from your parents, friends, and community. The more time you spend reflecting on your money mindset, the easier it will be to breakthrough to the next level financially.
What you believe about your ability to earn, save, invest, and get out of debt in the future will determine all the actions you take and will therefore determine the results you have.
This episode will dive into areas that keep us stuck, and once you realize where your limiting beliefs might lie concerning money, then it allows you to change the story you’re telling yourself.
When you question your belief systems and intentionally decide what you want them to be, you design your life from your future instead of recreating more of the past.
Hit play and hear why I don’t think you should measure time as money, and why you need to invest in yourself to stretch yourself!

When I meet with clients, some know exactly what they want to do. They may not know the first thing about tackling those goals or achieving those dreams but there are people who know exactly what it is they would do if they knew they would not fail.
But then there are the rest of us. The ones like me 2 years ago, and perhaps like you. You know who you are… wanting more, knowing you want something different, maybe you are thrust into change because of the ever-uncertain circumstances. Likely you know you need to take some action steps... but don't know exactly what that means. I find a lot of people in that place, so you’re not alone.
People don’t do nearly enough reflection to make sure they are constantly heading in the direction they want to go in. We often don't stop to ask: what is it that I really love? Or things change - we change our desires, our priorities. And the seasons and circumstances of life change us.
If you find yourself at any sort of crossroads, this episode is for you.
Listen in to learn how to use visualization to make sure you are on the right path, and suspend disbelief long enough to realize what your big goals and dreams are. You’ll discover how I use my ‘sliding doors’ moments to keep you moving toward your happier, healthier, wealthier, more caring version of your self.
The BIG TRUTH is that CLARITY FOLLOWS ACTION, not the other way around. You’ve got to start moving to know if it’s the right direction (so tricky!). That also means embracing being a beginner at something new.
I cover all of this and more, including how to form ‘happiness habits’ to anchor yourself to productive habits each and every day.

Recently I sat down with Lynn Chen about how she lets go of all the things holding her back in life — including excuses, limiting narratives, blame, shame, and trying to control certain outcomes.
This has resulted in way more acceptance, happiness, and opportunities, which are things we all need a little more of… am I right?!
Lynn is an actor, filmmaker, activist, blogger, podcaster, and so much more. She shares the ups and downs of her directorial debut film making it into South By Southwest…YAY! Only to then have the festival cancelled because of COVID-19.
Warning: We get into JUICY, personal subjects in this episode!
Lynn takes us behind the scenes on growing up totally “average,” developing and conquering an eating disorder, and why she decided not to have kids after struggling with infertility.
Ultimately, she reveals how she let go of the hustle, stopped trying to prove her worth, and released control of the outcomes in her life.

As a sought after speaker, Lindsey travels around the world inspiring women to get out of their own way and into action around their big ideas, and helping them create the careers they’ve always dreamed of.
After seeing numerous women in her life stop short of pursuing their own entrepreneurial dreams because of fear and self-doubt, she saw the need for more honest conversations about the ups & downs of entrepreneurship in order to show women that they don’t have to have it all together to get started. From there, the Powerhouse Women community, annual event, and podcast were born, with the motto that we're not meant to do business (or life) alone!

When you know you are meant for more, you can’t ignore it for long. You have been given that nudge for a reason, and also have been given curiosities that will lead you in the direction you are meant to go in.
Sometimes the best things that happen to us are when we are forced to re-imagine our lives and careers. It may not seem like a gift in the moment, but sometimes crisis points out our weaknesses so we can come back stronger!

In today’s episode, I share my journey from family therapist to entertainment executive to leadership coach.
It includes how I capitalized on my dream of working in entertainment following a break-up.
And eventually turned a mess into my greatest purpose.
I faced some challenges during my last year in my corporate position. But I am so grateful for those hard times, because amazing things happened as a result.
I took control of my life.
There is a myth that you will feel ready to make a big change, whether it’s leaving a comfortable job, or a decision to keep going when everything around you falls apart.
The truth is you will never feel ready. But the good news is that fear is a sign you are moving in the right direction.
Overcoming hard things is the price of admission for the life you want to have.
Ultimately the challenges I faced led to my decision to stop living a safe life inside the corporate world.
To stop playing small.
To use my voice.
To decide what I was and was not okay with.
The only thing I would change when I faced challenges would have been to enlist a mentor and coach to guide and support me through it all. When I looked back at what I didn’t have, I decided to become that for others.

This episode is sponsored by my free live masterclass: How to Elevate Your Network in 5 Easy Steps Today’s episode dives into what having a strong & positive mindset truly means.
We explore how your actions are caused by your thoughts which are caused by your beliefs, and that is the layer at which change has to happen. As beneficial as external structures are, they can’t cause real change.
I’ll share how to wake up with a positive mindset to start your day off right. You can choose to wake up in the chaos of your thoughts, or you can choose centering thoughts.
If you wake up thinking today is going to be hard, it will be. If you wake up thinking you can do hard things… you will be able to.
Then we will dive into how to swap low value, fear-based thoughts for higher value, positive thoughts. I share how you can implement radical responsibility for the things you CAN control, and forget the things you CAN'T.
Finally we are going to turn your biggest obstacles into your biggest opportunities. After doing a brain dump of your challenges, I will lead you through creating a possibilities list to come up with the best possible solutions.

This podcast episode is a little different than most. I’ve been under the weather, so I recorded an unfiltered episode on practicing mindfulness in the moment.
Trusting my intuition has played out in my life - I share a few stories with you including when I suddenly moved to Los Angeles at 24 years old with no plan and no place to live, and when I had a strong sense to withdraw from the middle of escrow on a home.
I also share what I learned from having car issues for the last two months, and reveal my process for practicing gratitude through these challenges.
What I've realized over the years is convenience and comfort don’t produce results. You have to get out there, constantly learning and growing, and focus on becoming a better person in the journey.
This episode will teach you how to make better decisions, listen to your gut, and become aware of exactly how you are co-creating your future.

Procrastination can show up in the most unexpected places. Join us for a conversation on turning your sneaky habits of procrastination into your greater purpose.
Procrastination and avoidance are habits you develop to cope with things that produce anxiety or discomfort. While you can try to use sheer ‘willpower’ to muster through these habits, oftentimes you can’t just slap a band-aid on the symptoms.
The underlying root issues are much deeper: fear of failure, indecisiveness, low self-esteem, and perfectionism. We must first address the issues head on. And the end result will be a more productive, efficient workflow.
But most importantly, any time you are attempting something new or worthwhile, it will cause some discomfort. This is why pushing past procrastination can lead to the greatest growth and MAGIC in your life.

This episode could not have come at a more perfect time. In the spirit of thanksgiving, we are talking all things gratitude with someone who fully embodies it in her life and work.
This week, I sat down with Terces Engelhart, co-founder of the plant based West Coast restaurant havens Café Gratitude and Gracias Madre. And if you’re familiar with either, you will know just how much Terces and her husband, Matthew, have created a work environment unlike any other.
Go behind the scenes with us as she shares the story of how her business started with the creation of a board game. It’s a great story that you do not want to miss!
Tune in to find out why Terces describes herself as 'unreasonably grateful.'
And Terces squashes those limiting beliefs that so many of us have that we are too old, too late, and the time has passed.
If you listen all the way to the end, you'll also find out her #1 solution on how to change yourself and the world!

Today I am sharing with you an insightful conversation that I had recently with Ryan Jordan, the founder and CEO of Educated Nannies and The Educated Mommy in Los Angeles.
In this conversation, Ryan shares the behind-the-scenes launch of her business, which almost didn’t happen because she felt the market was too saturated. But she went forward with it anyway, and 600 nannies and happy families later, she owns and runs a highly successful nanny agency. Educated Nannies earned the Red Tricycle Award for Most Helpful Childcare Agency in Los Angeles.
Ryan breaks down how to stop being a “yes” person. She was finding herself super busy but not with accomplishing anything that was moving her goals forward. So she stopped putting undue pressure on herself, creating unrealistic expectations and making up stories about what other people might think about her decisions.
And everything changed for her! Tune in to find out more and learn some helpful hints on how to fail gracefully, how to embrace community to do the necessary deep work, and how to avoid mom guilt.

Today I am sharing some of my big lessons from the first 6 months of the Power Your Purpose podcast. I am pulling back the curtain on my own journey and revealing what has worked and some of my mistakes too!
In this episode, I give away tons of communication tips and tricks that you can use in your own life, including how to ask better questions, and what active listening and mirroring looks like.
The truth is you may never feel ready to start that thing you have been thinking about, considering and dreaming of doing someday. But growth and momentum only come from action. I’m so glad I finally posted the first few episodes and put them out into the world, even though they are definitely not perfect. And for a recovering perfectionist, that is huge for me.
I’ve learned that value comes not from perfection but from putting yourself out there and meeting people where they are at, with what you’ve got. And as my podcast grows, I look forward to welcoming even more of your feedback and going even deeper into each and every episode.
This is why I am launching a brand-spanking-new group so the incredible women in my life can meet each other, find a sense of deeper community, share resources, and get exclusive access to trainings by yours truly.

Today I’m sharing three reasons I’ve seen so many women get and stay stuck and what to do about it.
This is also a behind-the-scenes look at my 1:1 coaching program, From Stuck to Unstoppable.
The truth is we are meant to shine and if we are not living into our purpose, then we won’t have the confidence and clarity needed to share our talents with the world. Sometimes we need someone outside ourselves to guide us through our blind spots.
That’s where your favorite coach comes in! Who says business coaching needs to be boring? You can laugh and level up all at the same time.

My guest today, Simone Tai, is a TV producer turned meditation teacher. We bonded over the feeling of being overly stressed out in our jobs and having our bodies eventually scream out for some TLC.
Simone first turned to meditation to help with work related anxiety and pressure.
But it was a 7 year fertility journey and the overwhelming emotions that came with it that led her to dive fully into the practice, and as a result it completely turned her life around.
She ended up putting her TV career on hold to become a qualified Vinyasa Yoga Instructor and pursue training in Mindfulness, Self Compassion and Transcendental Meditation.
After seeing the immense benefits in overall wellbeing, happiness and relationships, Simone now loves to combine all her training and personal experience to help guide others going through similar life challenges to find inner strength and happiness.
As a woman, the truth is that you CAN ‘do it all’ but not all at the same time, and you have to respect the seasons of life.
Sometimes there are periods to hustle and work as hard as you can toward your goals, and other times you need to ‘let go’ … of careers, failed dreams, and even the good things you most want.
Because it is the beautiful act of letting go that can take you from burned out to mindfully grateful.
Tune in below to hear about how we both learned this lesson the hard way, and so many more insights!

Today I am sharing some tactical, practical business advice from someone who knows a thing or two about how to grow a business.
My guest on this week's Power Your Purpose podcast is Amber Lilyestrom, a transformational branding strategist and business coach, author and speaker.
She shares how a near death experience during the birth of her daughter was the catalyst that provided her with an extreme moment of clarity, and subsequently caused her to pivot into leaving her successful corporate career path and forging her own business.
From one client to a seven-figure business a few years later– she details out how she gained momentum by changing one person’s life at a time. And how she built her business to be present for her life and the people in it, because she didn't want to miss any moments she can’t get back.
It’s not about how many followers you have, it’s how many lives you impact. And every one is important.
This episode is full of business tips on how to leave a corporate job and grow a business from scratch. She is sharing all the business blocks, including setting up a top-rated podcast, how to find your ideal clients, and the incredible power of a mastermind.
Most importantly, Amber shares how she got to a beautiful place of surrender.
She believed she could do hard things.
If you want to build a business or successful career, you have to be always becoming the best version of yourself. There is an importance in taking agency and ownership over your life, including being able to tap into your own stories and share yourself with the world.

My guest today, Kara Elise, is a genuine hostess encouraging us to live more fully, one event at a time.
Kara is a chef and experience curator; she focuses on creating spaces and experiences that cultivate community. In a culture obsessed with technology, being busy, and overstimulation, slowing down is not easy to do. Kara believes that creating intentional time to sit with others is an essential practice. A moment to feed our bodies and fill our deepest human desire - to be seen and known.
When she moved to LA, this simple question sparked her entire business: If money didn’t matter, what would you do with your life?
“Have people over for dinner,” she answered. And thus put the wheels in motion.
She believes you can find your purpose by looking at the intersection of what you love doing and what serves others.
Tune in below to find out her favorite table questions to ask to get that conversation and connection going!
In this episode, we discuss why who we spend time with matters.
You have to surround yourself with others who have what you want, so that you can see what’s possible.
Kara asks the question, when we see something good happening for others, do we feel envious or do we see what’s possible for our own lives? The latter opens us up to more gratitude.
In her wise words: Show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future.

I’ve been managing a full work calendar for the last decade, and I know I’m not the only one!
From overseeing 360+ events each year at UCLA Anderson School of Management to directing thousands of events at Creative Artists Agency, I’ve learned a thing a two about juggling multiple projects at a time.
So today I am dishing on 3 easy shifts to make to gain control of your calendar. (Hint: I use a color-coded Gmail calendar which should come to no surprise to anyone who knows me!)
While ‘multi-tasking’ is still listed on many job descriptions as a highly desirable skill, the research shows our culture of distraction is actually killing our productivity. We are less able to focus and complete tasks than ever before, due to the constant interruptions that surround us.
I also give you a challenge at the end of the episode that you won’t want to miss. It will help reveal what you need to change ASAP.
If you like these tips and want to dive deeper into how to make the ultimate transition from overwhelmed to feeling a sense of daily accomplishment, join the amazing community of women at our next event.

Have you ever seen a problem in the world and took it into your own hands to help create the solution?
That’s exactly what my friend and guest today, Angela Sun, did when she heard about an island of trash floating in the Pacific Ocean.
As a world traveler, with a journalist’s passion for storytelling and love for the oceans, Angela created her first independent feature documentary, “PLASTIC PARADISE: THE GREAT PACIFIC GARBAGE PATCH.”
The film won 13 awards worldwide and has been in over 40 film festivals, with supporters including former VP Al Gore, Bette Midler, Jackson Browne and Forest Whitaker sharing about it on social media. It helped start a #plasticparadise social media movement of thousands worldwide taking the pledge to say no to single-use plastics.
In this episode, we discuss how to take what you are passionate about to help create a global movement.
Angela also discusses the challenges being an Asian American woman in the sports broadcasting world, and how she had to work twice as hard for half the credit.
She began to break boundaries in the world of sports and media as the first Asian American female sportscaster to appear on ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, Tennis Channel, Fox Sports and NBC.
Of course her success has not been reached without setbacks, and Angela touches on how the death of her father when she was a teenager moved her to embrace travel and live life more fully.
Her love of travel and the environment has led her to visit over 65 countries, from conducting field research on the Great Barrier Reef focusing on reef sharks to surveying coral off the coast of Thailand.

For today's podcast, I sat down with Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor, Amy Kiser Schemper.
I remember being SO excited for her when she was on the cover of Women's Health Magazine a few years ago, as she landed a spot in the top 5 finalists for their Next Fitness Star Contest!
The surprising, behind-the-scenes story is that she almost didn't apply because she didn't feel ready.
But a friend encouraged her and she submitted her application on the day of the deadline. (Side note: sometimes we need a little encouraging kick in the pants from our friends!)
She decided to go all in, despite not feeling ready ... and her efforts paid off.
Amy has since built a massive following (nearly half a million subscribers!) through BodyFit by Amy, an online fitness community and YouTube channel.
In addition to Women's Health Magazine, she has been featured on Good Morning America, Extra, and The Doctors.
When you listen to your fears, you miss out on opportunities.

Have you ever made a sucky first impression? We’ve all been there.
There is an art and skill to putting your best foot forward and making a lasting connection in that first greeting!
Today on the podcast, I am sharing my top tips that I have used time and time again to move from instantly meeting someone to getting a coffee date on the calendar.
Your relationships are everything. The strength of those relationships is oftentimes the biggest indicator of your success. And the foundation to having great relationships starts with that first connection.
In this day and age of social media, it is becoming harder and harder to make actual, fulfilling connections. We don’t know how to do this well. And as a result our relationships are being fractured and short-changed. We go to networking events but don’t know how to introduce ourselves without feeling disingenuous or sleazy. Many of us are a little paranoid about other people wanting something from us.
A lot of times we have 30 seconds to meet someone and take it to the next level… so it matters how we approach this and what we do.
Don’t leave another opportunity for connection on the table by messing up that first meeting!

You know when you meet someone and their deep perspective changes your life? This is how I feel about today’s guest on the show.
Twelve years ago, Sarah Pierson’s life took a tragic turn when she lost her husband in a plane crash at only 29 years old. Having to reinvent a new version of her life, she quit her job as a teacher in the suburbs outside of Chicago, began traveling the world, and adopted a philanthropic mindset.
Sarah published a book in 2012, Young Widow: A Memoir. She was a contributing author to the book Mother of Pearl: Luminous Lessons and Iridescent Faith. And she is an on-going contributor to the Huffington Post UK, and multiple on-line travel magazines.
Sarah shares with us her best tips on resiliency, how she embraced travel and running as her preferred coping strategies in the wake of tragedy, and why it was imperative that she found an incredible community around her to support her when she needed it the most. She continues to use her story to help others.
Her message to the world is to live life wholeheartedly because you never know what is going to happen and you have to be adaptable. And you really can’t get anywhere without practicing gratitude.
You have to CHOOSE to keep moving forward each and every day.

How do we have success? It is when we take control of our own story and we write our own ending. We overcome our mistakes and regrets in a way that brings wisdom and wholeness to our lives. And that positively impacts all the lives around us too.
We are all hard wired for STORY. People want to live a great life and leave a legacy, but it takes work to truly make it happen. If you think about it there really is no good story that has characters who have it easy, or who have some sort of vague ambition. It is the challenges our favorite heroes face and overcome with courage, that resonate with us. Those are the stories we need to be living.
For many of us though, our stories are being stolen by an easy life. It’s easier now than ever before. We escape, we numb out, there’re so many distractions. We deny certain painful things have happened to us, we bury our feelings, even when we focus on positivity we can refuse to look at what’s just underneath the surface.
This is a journey for anyone of any age, with the capacity to stop, look at what is really going on inside and around you, dream big, and push for your best life.
What are you waiting for ... hit play now! xo
