He has focused the past 9 years of his professional life on real estate investment. This started locally in Canada, and moved quickly into the US markets as the opportunities for great investments presented themselves. This was a right hand turn his my career. He spent the first 25 years of his career in the high tech industry. His past roles include, Vice President of Engineering at Wavesat, a developer of chips for wireless networks, and Chief Technical Officer at Applied Micro Circuits Corporation, a Silicon Valley based public company that develops processors for use in numerous consumer products including televisions and gaming. He was founder and Chief Operating Officer at Somerset Technologies. He also held several senior roles in marketing and engineering with Tundra Semiconductor. He started his career at Bell Northern Research and Nortel where he designed chips that were used to control the telephone network. For approximately a decade, 54% of the phone calls in North America were routed by a chip that he designed.
After 12 years as a Licensed Professional (PE) Civil/Industrial Engineer, He fired the boss and began to focus 100% of my time on my investing and helping others in my Passive Investor Accelerator & Mastermind.
He began investing in 2009 in rainy Seattle, being a ramen eating cheapo he was able to buy a property early right after college. After discovering the difference between ‘Cashflow Investing’ and ‘appreciation investing (gambling/speculating)’… He moved his portfolio into 11 single family rentals in Birmingham, Atlanta, Indianapolis, and Pennsylvania. Today, he is investing in syndications which invest in Class C & B Multi-Family Apartment, RV Parks, mobile homes, and assisted living facilities because of this Nation’s demand for affordable housing – not rich people Class-A assets. His mission is to help regular people into good deals that were once only accessible to the rich. The passive income from investing in stabilized rental properties made it possible for him to move back home to Hawaii where the cost of paradise is 10%+ cost of living and -30% less pay for comparable jobs in the US mainland. There he was able to live a lifestyle where I was able to bike to work. It did not take him long however to finally quit the day job and ditch the e-bike for a Mercedes.
He started out in the United States. He was born in India, so he came here at the age of 22. He went to the University of Alabama and got his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. He couldn’t land a job in electrical engineering, so he settled for IT. He worked for companies like ADP, T-Mobile, Pepsi Co. His last employment was with the Bank of America. He was with them for six years. For fourteen years, He worked in corporate IT. July 16th, 2018 was when he resigned from his IT job and started doing this full-time. He did start my real estate career back in 2007 with single-family homes. He bought about twenty single-family homes, all with his own money, over a period of three, four years. He still has about half of them and in the process of selling them as the tenants move out because his focus is 110% on multifamily. He’s no longer on single-family. He started single-families in 2007 all the way into 2015. 2016 was when he started multifamily. He is doing this all alongside his day job. 2016 is when he syndicated his first property along with my business partner, Ramana, and after that they did nine more. It finally brought them where they are now.
