In the thick of working full time as a personal trainer, I found myself treading and always needing more: hours in the day, clients in my back pocket & more ways to make money to 'protect' myself in case a client left me.

It took me almost 5 years to finally find some strategies to create more time and space in my schedule, including creating a thriving online business so I could have a source of passive income
Today, I take you through 4 ways to create more time and space in your schedule (and LIFE!) that you can implement right now!

WELCOME BACK!!! Well, thats more for me haha! I missed you all and can't wait to get into today's episode with you!
I start the episode by sharing some honest and open thoughts about motherhood and easing back into work. "Getting back to work" is cloudy when you work for yourself and I have certainly had allll the feelings and extremes of both 'not doing enough' and doing 'too much' Many of these feelings are brought on by myself, but I wanted to talk through them with YOU
Next, I wanted to share 7 tips to easing back into work, and whether you are a parent or not, these will be extremely useful. As I am recording this during the time between Christmas and New years when we all are confused about when to show up, how often, if you should be showing up at all on social media, selling, not selling...it's a LOT, right?
I wanted to share some thoughts that I followed myself, too about getting back into the groove. I LOVE YOU AND CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU TO HEAR THIS EPISODE!!

HI FRIENDS! Let's get into self sabotage
It seems to be one of the things that can hold us back the most from achieving that next level of success (keep in mind that 'success' is different for everyone!)
I've seen it in business, in relationships and in life Sabotaging our way through because we think we aren't deserving of 'it' Seeing others achieve success which means there is no space for us Staying comfortable at the level we're at without pushing to the next because we fear success (or failure!)
We talk today about what self sabotage is, why you may be experiencing it and ways to overcome it. This is a good one filled with so much inspiration! LOVE YOU!

"Hustle Culture" You've heard it, you may have experienced it.
I spent years tying my self worth to how many hours I worked. I literally would get jealous when I would see other trainers doing more than me, even though I was at my max of what I could do in a day.
It's pervasive in the online space, and being at home now for many of us hasn't made it easier to see others (especially those in our same industry) constantly pumping out content and creating, and then not feeling 'good enough' or that you're working hard enough
I wanted to record my thoughts all about hustle culture, the dangers of it, how I view it and also ways to avoid burnout, especially as an entrepreneur
There isn't an amount of 'grind' in the world that should sacrifice your mental and physical health. Let's talk all about hustle culture!

Have you ever worked with a client who disappeared AFTER they've invested working with you?
Coaches: It is RARELY about you

And you think: what did I do wrong?
You did NOTHING wrong.

Let's be honest....we all have a love hate relationship with social media. It is such an incredible tool to build authentic connections and also to find new, aligned clients, share your message and story with the world
AND
It can also be extremely toxic if and when we don't know HOW and WHEN to take a step back when it feels like it's consuming our mood, our mental health and our entire days.
Whether or not you use Instagram and social media for business, it can be a really hard concept to TAKE TIME OFF. I get it, I can relate to you so hard which is why I wanted to record this episode.

We can so often tie our 'identity' to a person, a career or relationship. We get known as ONE thing and it can be so hard to pivot into a new career or try something new, date a new person and embody a new experience.
Being defined by your work or by something you are ‘known for’ can happen slowly over time until one day you realize...you’ve put yourself in this pretty box with one title or label
I have gone through times in my life where it has been so hard to pull away from these 'identities' both personally and professionally and I wanted to share these thoughts with you, in case you, too are feeling a PULL toward something NEW, but terrified because of the 'identity' that others view you as.
You can be many things all at the same time
You can leave a career and start something new
You can have a hobby and then gain a new one
You CAN many titles and experiences that make up who you are without defining your entire being
I LOVE YOU AND APPRECIATE YOU!

The sentence "provide value" is something you've probably heard before from a coach or mentor....but then you sit to write a post or email, scratching your head and think "What does that even MEAN?"
VALUE is an extremely broad term because what one views as 'value' may not be at all of value to someone else.
When you are seeking to grow your audience and transition your audience into potential customers...how do you do so effectively while staying true to who you are, keeping their needs in mind AND providing value?? What does 'provide value mean?" Why the term is cloudy and how to navigate The difference between giving things away for free VS providing value What I think is important when it comes to audience and growth in terms of value

In March of 2017, after years of struggling with my weight and mental health, she decided to start the Instagram account @highonsweatt, where Elana intended just to share her workouts and her story. The account TOOK OFF and became a true business.
In 2019, Elana quit her "corporate" job with the original plan was to build out a content creator course; and instead, began to consult mainly for wellness brands.
March 2021: She launched her first clothing collection, which consists of 135 pieces and seven different unique designs with five affirmations bordering each symbol. A true highlight of her career!

Dina is an empowerment coach, speaker, travel enthusiast, and goal crusher. She always been ridiculously passionate about the stories women and girls tell themselves and what it takes for them to see themselves in their highest potential.
Being a woman or girl in today’s world is tough and From an early age, Dina felt she wasn’t good enough and believed that something was inherently wrong with her, and also struggled to figure out where it came from exactly. She had to stop letting guilt or ‘because I should’ be a reason for anything and everything she chose to do. Dina had to re-train my brain that she does not need to be perfect; and get to a place where she believed she was worthy of it all.
Prior to formally launching her coaching practice, Dina spent the last 17 years in the international development sector, most recently as a gender and social inclusion adviser. She traveled across the globe to over 30 countries around the world advising projects on how to reach women and girls more equitably. While it has been the dream job, Dina knew she longed for something more; for an opportunity to make a lasting impact. With nearly 20 years of professional experience, a Master's degree in gender and development; as well as a Bachelor's degree in international relations and economics, she is a Certified Coach and Mentor, and have received training from the Youth Coaching Institute. Dina is proud to have created a place for women and girls to connect and support one another through Enough Labs.

In today's episode we are talking about 8 questions to ask yourself before hiring the right coach!
Do not hire a coach who won’t speak to you personally Your coach should be listening more than talking Your coach should be able to show their teaching style You should be able to feel GOOD You should be able to ask about success stories How will you work together/communicate? Don't expect this coach to be magic in your business Just because this coach worked for someone else, that doesn't mean they will work for you
It is your choice at the end of the day so be sure to ask those tough questions and figure out your priorities in your business right now!

Catharine started ENERGYbits after her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and advised by her oncologist that an alkaline diet would help her heal.
Catharine immediately sprung into action to help her sister research alkaline foods and in the process she discovered algae.
When Catharine learned that algae was the most alkaline, plant-based, nutrient-dense food in the world and had been used for fifty years in Asia to improve health and longevity, she knew she had discovered something big that could be a game changer for the world if she could just convince people it wasn't weird.

Hi Friends! Comin'atcha with a solo episode today about niching. However, this isn't an episode about how to 'niche down' but rather giving you some strategies as to why you should NOT be wasting your time racking your brain to find your niche, especially in the beginning stages of growing your business.
You've heard it before that 'niching down' is so important and getting SO specific about the exact type of person you want to work with, and while the idea is great and WILL be important, it should never be the end-all and be-all of your business building because if you are new to your business, your niche WILL CHANGE (and should change as you grow and become inspired!)
Sitting down to find your niche could feel endless, and I want to share with you 7 strategies on what you should be doing instead and how you should be spending your time more productively to ALLOW YOU the space and time to develop who you want to work with.
I would LOVE you all to share one takeaway from this episode, so please tag me or DM me @1fitfoodiepod on Instagram, or email me Naomi@naomirotstein.com. I cannot wait to hear from you all and so appreciate you being here!

Hey, 1fitfoodie fam! Naomi here and today we are going over why your job does NOT define who you are. Fitness defined who I was for 10 years of my life, even more so whilst competing. It was THE ONLY thing that people asked me questions about, wanted to know, or sometimes not even wanted to know but literally didn’t think I had anything else to talk about.
When I stopped competing, It gave me the space and energy to dive into other hobbies and other parts of ME that make me happy. Reading, traveling, coloring, spending true time with friends, exploring the city without baggies of chicken, ordering cocktails, cooking, LIVING…
I also had to work to rediscover who I was and what I liked BESIDES personal training and competing.
I felt that I had to reintroduce myself to some people in my life and while dating, I had to work hard to show them that I HAVE LAYERS.
I am way more than a personal trainer. YES, that is part of what I do, but it is not WHO I AM.
Now? I’m finding myself in this transition again as I am running 1FITBIZ and knee-deep into mentoring and business coaching other fit pros, something I LOVE, too.
I am still a personal trainer, AND a business coach, AND someone who eats ice cream, AND read books, AND so much more.
These are interests and expertise I have chosen because they LIGHT ME UP and at the end of the day, my job does NOT define who I am. I discuss why this is important and 5 reasons why your job does not define who you are. XOX

Today's episode is all about a very common topic that I discuss quite a bit with my both my personal training clients, and the women in 1FITFUTURE. Mistakes that could be holding yu back from achieving fat loss. Remember what it’s like to feel good about yourself and not feeling deprived? YES. It is possible. I spent the last 7 years working healing my relationship with both food and exercise so that it FITS into my life, and it is not the center of it.
Fat loss isn’t linear. You can’t change one small ‘thing’ and expect change to happen overnight.
Long lasting change takes time, consistency, effort, patience and a desire to break away from diet culture.
Mindset shifts NEED to be the foundation for this to occur which is a RARE topic that you will ever see in any ‘diet book’ (Because let’s face it, those diet books are there to take your money and run) In today's episode we are discussing 6 mistakes that could be you holding you back when it comes to fat loss and tactical strategies that you can do TODAY to see and experience serious changes, both physically, mentally and emotionally.

Tune into a SOLO episode to hear a snippet of my story. There was a POWER I would feel in being so rigid and strict with my food and exercise. I had to though, I always had a competition to prep for and a constant fear of gaining 5lbs.
I skipped desserts, brought my own food to restaurants, white-knuckled avoiding my favorite meals and cocktails because none of that was an option (in my mind).
The people in my life always got to know me as that girl who would skip the indulgent food- and I felt so powerful because of it.
Why? Well, It gave me an excuse to say “no” and it gave me an excuse to continue being so “hardcore” and have willpower.
⭐️The decision to stop competing was Not an easy one, but not because I’d “miss” it. Frankly, I was burnt out. it was hard because I would no longer have this excuse as to why I could say “no” to certain foods. A cookie would be offered to me and I would no longer be able to use the competition prep as my crutch.
⭐️It hit me hard, after the last show that I realized my heart wasn’t in it. I NEVER should be using a competition or anything for that matter to VALIDATE my choice to move my body or eat certain foods.
I was so focused on what others would say about me, and fear of gaining weight that I lost sight of MY LIFE in terms of what I want in my future (health, happiness, a relationship, a social life, etc).
⚡️it wasn’t easy to no longer have my crutch, but I KNEW something had to change and I had to give myself permission to live my life FREE of being tied to a show.
It took TIME, PATIENCE, and SUPPORT, but I slowly began to feel a HUGE weight lifted from finally allowing freedom in my food choices, and less focus on the judgement from others.

Becky Pleat is the CEO & co-founder of Protein Power Ball, a healthy snack company that makes bite-sized protein balls made from sustainable plant-based ingredients. Prior to starting her journey in the consumer packaged goods space, Becky has held numerous roles in the Biotech industry where she was able to combine her knowledge as a pharmacist with various business and entrepreneurial skills to help launch several innovative medications. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and had the opportunity to work with patients directly as part of her training. Through this work, she was able to see first-hand how valuable a wholesome approach to healthy living is and the impact it has on the development of chronic illnesses.
This sparked her interest in learning more about managing health by the foods we eat. After years of trial and error with her own nutrition journey, she found the foods that worked and wanted to be able to bring them with her no matter where she went. Fed up with the lack of convenient, on-the-go snacks that provided the right type of nutrition without the added preservatives, she decided to start making her own. Dedicated to creating nutritious snacks and driven by the mantra "food is medicine," Becky and her partner, Aakash, started Protein Power Ball.

I am here today with Dan and Sean, Founders of Loco Coffee, and who are longtime friends that have always lived an on the go, active lifestyle. After graduating from college and taking on the “real world,” they quickly realized the importance of convenient coffee. However, they refused to drink the high sugar/high-calorie coffees, and they wanted something more beneficial than an artisanal black coffee. With no current options on the shelf to fit their needs, they created their own functional, better for you cold brew.
Virtually no coffee brands currently utilize electrolytes, antioxidants, or functional waters. Most of them have more sugar and more calories than a can of soda, or their portfolio only includes black coffees with different flavors. The ready to drink coffees you generally find are loaded with sugar and other added stuff, but this is just such a brilliant product!
Get ready to learn all about the beginnings and successes of creating a truly one-of-a-kind coffee beverage!

Julia Avery is on the pod today! Julia helps mission-driven coaches build online businesses so they can reach more people while creating the income they deserve.
She grew up in Houston & post-college moved to New York to pursue a career in Investor Relations. After 4 years of working behind a desk in a job that just did not fill her cup, doing what she thought she was "supposed to do", she decided to start making her own rules.
What started as something she did for fun around her "real job" soon turned into a full-time gig, and after 6 months of juggling a 9 to 5 while moonlighting as a fitness instructor, she was able to ditch the desk for good.
After 7 years in NYC, Julia packed her bags and headed to the Cayman Islands for a full-time coaching and personal training gig. 3 years later, she headed back to Houston to start her own online business helping people, like herself, ditch the desk and pursue careers in the fitness industry. What she realized in the process was that an online business granted her the freedom to take time off, create her own schedule, and for the first time, she was in control of the income she was making. There was no limit!
Julia created Step Up, her online coaching course that helps coaches who want to make a difference in the world build their online businesses. Welcome JULIA to the 1FITFOODIE Podcast!!

I am THRILLED to be sitting down with Rebecca Skudder, founder of this incredibly unique treadmill studio, MYSTRYDE. Rebecca grew up in Upstate New York and went to Union College. There, she ran track and played soccer in both high school and college. After College, Rebecca bought a one way ticket to Colorado to be a ski bum, and taught ski lessons and waited tables...it was the best year of her life!
Soon after, Rebecca moved back home for the summer, which was now Falmouth Cape Cod, as her parents moved year-round to the cape. She then found a job in Boston, and moved to the city in 2011. Rebecca found herself at a more corporate Job for a little over 4 years, and very long story short, she quit her corporate, secure job to open MYSTRYDE in January of 2016.
Since then, she has been figuring out how to run a business, and have had to jump through a few hoops, as they were not only shut down this March due to COVID-19, but they also were shut down for 5 months last March due to structural issues with their building. It's been quite the year! Despite the road bumps, MYSTRYDE is still alive and kicking and doing some fun virtual classes to keep the community together! WELCOME REBECCA to 1FITFOODIE POD!

Susan Cabana, Founder of Nourish Your Soul Juice, has learned the importance of nourishing your soul first-hand. One night more than a decade ago, she unexpectedly lost her husband of 10 years, her best friend, and the father of her three girls. His heart stopped. Her heart broke. At age 37, Susan was left to raise her daughters and pick up life’s pieces. Then, in 2008, the economic crash took down her 18-year career on Wall Street.
After wrestling with the depths of fear and devastation, Susan decided she needed to make a change. To keep living and to live well, for herself and her daughters. She committed to healing herself, drinking green juice daily, running, yoga.
One day, Susan’s yoga teacher asked the question that altered everything: “What would you do if you had no barriers or fears?” That moment, on her yoga mat, she knew a career of helping people heal through a way of living that incorporates movement, meditation, gratitude, and sustaining their bodies through nutrition was her path.
Nourish Your Soul food and juice is produced with the highest quality ingredients, sourced locally and organic as much as possible. Their food is fresh, healthy, and made with love.
They use a top-of-the-line cold press to gently grind fruits and vegetables into a fine pulp and extract every ounce of juice. Cold pressing preserves the integrity of fruits and vegetables by using high pressure instead of heat. The result? A fresh, flavorful, and nourishing juice.
Let's welcome Susan Cabana to the 1FITFOODIE Podcast!

Erica Bornstein is in the house today! I am THRILLED!
Erica fell in love with yoga at a very young age when she was introduced to it as a way to stay in dancer shape, but later in life discovered it was so much more than that. As an adult, she developed a regular yoga practice and noticed that it brought her to feel this sense of balance in her body and her mind. Other physical activity became easier, and she approached difficult situations in life with a much more open attitude. Erica found herself constantly talking to people about yoga, thinking about yoga, reading about yoga, so she decided to see what would happen if she registered for a teacher training in 2010.
Erica now is a full-time yoga teacher and could not be more thrilled to be a part of the incredible yoga community in Boston. Erica teaches an athletic vinyasa flow, focused on basics and alignment, with some advanced options sprinkled in, and she encourages students to personalize their practice for their own needs. She teaches yoga with a sense of fun and creativity, always has a killer playlist, and her humor and playful spirit are ever-present in her classes. Overall, Erica believes that yoga is an accommodating practice, accessible to all people, that requires only loving care for the body and the willingness to keep an open mind and heart.
Her number one mission in life is to encourage everyone to love yoga, or at least to try it. I take Erica's class every week and continued to be inspired by her classes, her messages and her unique approach to yoga!

Intuitive eating says this “eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full”
Intuitive eating can often feel so vague and impracticable to someone who trying to get OUT OF the diet mentality and heal their relationship with food. The advice can actually be really discouraging
At its root, intuitive eating is a way to get your body and mind more in connection with one another so you are able to FEEL the different types of hunger and FEEL when and what you should be eating; the difference between satisfaction and fullness, emotional hunger and physical hunger.
The CORE of intuitive eating is something that I worked for YEARS to incorporate and it is not something that just happens overnight. It is a way of eating that incorporates mind and body. It is not following a plan. It is not counting macros. It is not logging food into an app. It is a "ditch the diet" approach to food and nutrition.
HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED? Counted macros incessantly, not knowing if you NEED or DON’T NEED more food without seeing results? Counted carrots? Counted down the clock until feeding time?
Using numbers and time of day to dictate what and how I ate was something I was a slave to for YEARS. This soon became a way of eating that was NOT sustainable for me. I was on autopilot the entire day. I had no idea what hunger was, how my body felt, how satisfaction, fullness, satiety felt. I would eat and move on, eat and move on. I don't even remember truly ENJOYING my food.
In this episode, we are going over how to free yourself from being tied and dependent on numbers, counting food, being a slave to a way of eating that is NOT sustainable in the long run, and giving you some practical and tangible tips to incorporate a more intuitive eating approach, exactly what I teach in #1FITFUTURE

Today, we are joined by Kara Lennon, and we are SO thrilled! Kara comes from a background in health and wellness spending time as a Phys. ed teacher, but found that she was drained, mentally physically and emotionally. It wasn’t her true calling. It wasn't until she sat down with a mentor and good friend, and she asked her: "What do YOU want? Your decisions are YOURS. You don't have to live your life for anyone except YOU." Lightbulb. Kara knew at that moment with her friend that she would do everything in her power t make fitness a full-time job.
So, Kara left her secure teaching job, went to work for Lululemon and 3 months later because a full-time fitness instructor in Boston, who now is one of the most well known in the city. Kara teaches full time at BSPOKE downtown, Wellesley ma, and the cape house as well as hosts her own podcast, UNHESITANT. Kara and I were long overdue to formally meet, even though we have been in the same places, same time doing the same things.
We are both in full-time fitness, both have a podcast (Kara’s is called UNHESITANT) where we love connecting with others and also find so much joy and reward from living in this incredible city that we decided to do a little two-part podcast series chatting to each other!

Today I am here with Matt Lombardi, Co Founder of BEAM organics. Matt, along with his Co Founder, Kevin, were always super active and actually even played professional sports. They’ve trained for triathlons and ironmans and a little common ground--competed in fitness competitions. As you can see, they have pushed their bodies past what most have done for the sake of competition and also to see what they’re bodies are capable of.
Throughout all of these sport and athletic endeavors, they searched high and low to find a natural remedy for those aches and pains and general ailments. They wanted something that was natural, non-toxic, and high-performing and literally tried everything. So 4 years later, the guys were introduced to CBD and found that it changed their lives.
When they began to look deeper into CBD it was hard to find a CBD product that met their standards. So after struggling to find a product that was high quality, transparent about ingredients, and effective, they decided to create their own. Our mission was to empower people to push their limits and pursue their passions by improving their physical and mental state, whether athlete or entrepreneur, busy parent or weekend warrior. And, so, Beam was born.
Beams Motto “No THC, just TLC” ANd for those who don’t know THC or CBD...you will after today's episode!

Today, we are here with Angelo Denorfrio, studio manager and full-time instructor at Rev'd Indoor Cycling. Before teaching at Rev'd, Angelo was a full-time student at Boston University studying for his Master's in Public Health and working in clinical research at a local hospital.
While transitioning into the full-time fitness industry, Angelo found his niche in talking about body neutrality and acceptance during his classes. To him and his riders, working out is about more than a number on a scale or a waist size.
As someone who has first-hand experience with body image issues, for Angelo, working out is about the feeling of accomplishment and self-love his riders receive during class and how that confidence boost can enable self-growth outside of the bike room. If you've ever taken one of his classes at Rev'd (either the Dedham or Burlington locations), you know how positive and infectious his energy can be!

Today we sit down with Chris Freeman CEO of Grainmaker and I’m psyched because this has been a stand out fast-casual restaurant here in Boston and just opened its second location in Davis Square. Grainmaker recieves SO much praise for its delicious, unique flavors and large menu offerings. Grainmaker is Boston born and began with the simple belief that food can change lives for the better. Inspired by a journey through Southeast Asia, Grainmaker combines the diverse flavors of street food with the region’s most essential ingredient: the humble grain.
Every meal that is served at GM aims to serve original grains, locally-sourced produce whenever possible, and humanely-raised meats, prepared fresh every day. GM aims to bring flavors and options that you can't get anywhere else. Chris knew there was a market for incredibly unique and delicious fast casual food to please the masses and that is exactly what he created with Grainmaker.
They work so hard to innovate the menu constantly, as the seasons change, the ingredients change and they are so incredibly inspired by the Boston community, as am I, so I knew I couldn’t wait to chat to Chris to learn all about the beginnings of Grainmaker.
And?! This year they’re aiming to slash out waste! Find out HERE:

Today, on the podcast we are talking all things mindset, fat loss and transformation-way beyond the physical.
This episode starts with talking to you through my online course, 1FITFUTURE:
This 90-day transformation course was created because I have been in a place where the fat loss was the end all and be all of my life. I lived to be validated by others and thought that 5 extra pounds would equate to me losing business, and no man wanting to be with me. After a serious injury and a huge wake up call, I made it my mission to heal my relationship with food, and now? I have helped hundreds of women do the same.
Listen to my opinion on what these women learned, how they supported each other and what YOU can expect from 1FITFUTURE.
THEN? Hear from two women who have successfully completed 1FF and are still working with me toward their goals. They both experienced serious physical change, but more importantly, the relationship they have with food and exercise has done a 360.
Listen in on this important conversation with myself, Kendyl and Erin.

Today’s interview is with Arielle Spiegel has been a good friend of my from High school, We grew up in the same town and spent summers together at our favorite summer camp, so to see her here now, taking the reigns, creating this amazing company Co Fertility has been so incredible to watch.
Arielle founded Co in the midst of her own fertility struggles. She had a great doctor and a clinic she loved, but many of you may or may not know that just doesn’t cut it.
Because when you’re a member of this club, you’ve got questions. Sometimes those questions are too embarrassing to ask. Sometimes they feel stupid. Sometimes they happen in the middle of the night, or when you’re four margaritas deep. HA!
The point is: when your whole life is in a holding pattern, having the right answers, right now, matters. A lot.
When she went looking for answers online, she found some. But they weren’t credible, or they were out of touch, or they were completely overwhelming. (Or D: all of the above.)
So, she left her full-time secure job in NYC to go with her gut and start her own company where answers were easier to find for everyone who is struggling with fertility challenges, OR simply to learn more about fertility. With this newfound idea, Co Fertility was born: the answer to every fertility-related questions all in one place, curated by people who have been there, done are doing that.
