Every year about this time, we take time out of doing drag racing "5:15" and try to find a story that best encapsulates a spirit of the Christmas Season. We have had some good ones, and this year's story continues that fine tradition. Ron Youngblood popped on our radar this year when he was working for London Township, Michigan. Bright, articulate and no-nonsense, Ron was our go-to person when we had questions about the Milan Dragway that was located in his township that only someone in his position could answer. We had no idea that he had a dark past. Incarcerated for years for a crime that should never taken place, Mr. Youngblood is that unique individual that saw the true horror of his action and fought daily to get away from that person and to become a new man. Teach others not to hate. Hard work and determination has helped Mr. Youngblood become a successful member in his community. He is also father of a newborn daughter. Listening to this story of a felon to beacon of what we all should be like restores faith in mankind. A perfect real life Christmas story...

The more that we talked to our guest Sue Christophersen today, the more doors that we found that we had to open. Every one of her stories launches three more stories, one better than the last. What a fascinating life this woman has had in racing and she shares some of those with us here today. There is something starting to break loose in drag racing and we are excited about it!

We have always looked at EV cars as the wave of the future, yet there wasn't a lot of information to find out there or even someone with knowledge about the subject.

That all changed August 8th on our "THE 5:15 SHOW" when we had Al Thomas from NEDRA (National Electric Drag Racing Association). To say the least, Mr. Thomas not only is top in his class of knowledge on the subject, but his enthusiasm about EV drag cars/racing is catchy. We are going to have Mr. Thomas back because one hour was NOT long enough to get through all the questions that we have about the emerging EV drag racing scene. We are looking forward to that day...

Attention Hollywood producers, here's a hot tip for a new movie. A decorated Navy vet who comes home to find the sport of drag racing is not how it should be and after being frowned upon at a race for not driving a big money or trendy car/ he doesn't whimper but instead goes out and resurrects one of the classic leagues in drag racing and his incredible uphill campaign to get it rolling again. Our guest tonight is Mr. Dallas Brown from the American Hot Rod Association. He is that guy. Not a stuff shirt desk jockey but a racer himself, Mr. Brown brought back everything AHRA and is spreading the word about his vision for the association. Frankly, Mr. Brown's enthusiasm for drag racing and the AHRA is catchy. While not crazy about the name, we think that the AHRA"Econo-Comp Class" may very well be one of the freshest and more exciting classes to be formed for drag racing in a very long time. Great for drivers and outstanding for the fans. It's innovative thinking like this that should propel the AHRA back into the mainstream of the sport. Mr. Brown talks today about how the AHRA is not only designed for sportsman classes, but for everyone including fans too. We will have Mr. Brown back with us again. A fascinating interview.

Today we had with us Bill Alexander of the MSADRA on "The 5:15 Show".

At the pre-production meeting for the show, we had to explain to staff how you could race a snowmobile at a drag strip in the summer. After watching some videos on the MSADRA Facebook page, staff came up with even more questions. Thankfully, Mr. Alexander answered not only our questions, but he took time to answer questions that were coming from our listeners. Mr. Alexander deftly informed all how the association started, talked about what it takes to get started, the differences between drag racing a car vs. a snowmobile, all of the different classes in the sport, what kind of safety equipment is needed, the membership of the MSADRA and how it is run, how the members interact, the cost of snowmobile drag racing, Mr. Alexander's history in the sport and so much more.

Editors Note: I just wanted to say that we were very impressed by not only Mr. Alexander, but by the reputation that the MSADRA as developed. Mr. Alexander did not disappoint on air and is a fine credit to the sport of snowmobile drag racing. We held Bill way over our time slot, and he graciously stayed to answer a mountain of questions. No wonder he and the MSADRA gets high recommendations from track owners. We will have Mr. Alexander back with us 8/17/20. We are looking forward to it.-John

A fascinating story of woman drag racing from the mid-80's to now, the troubles she has encountered by men who used the "I can't believe I lost to a woman" line (and you thought they only used that in the movies) to the heights of winning her first big event.
