From Flip's Dosan Legacy page on FB https://www.facebook.com/dosanlegacy.

So GRATEFUL to all the Doctors, Nurses, Staff, EMT. FD, PD, Volunteers and Anyone who are Fighting the Beast to protect us and save us.

When Dosan was a teenager in the late 1890's he worked as a medicine boy at Korea's first "hospital" Chejungwon. In 1907, he worked at Severance Hospital in Seoul. He was an orderly who at one time was bringing wounded Korean soldiers who were battling the Japanese in the streets of Seoul. As he traveled the world to save Korea he witnessed cholera, malaria, the Spanish Flu and other health issues like his battle with TB... and cigarettes. Many of the Korean Medical Doctors who attended Yonsei Medical School during the early 1900's worked with Dosan in the Sinminhoe. Dosan also initiated the Red Cross in the Korean Independence Movement. Public health was part of Dosan's reform movement for Korean people. Dosan had the greatest respect for the people who cared for others in times of need.

The link below is to a very informative paper about another important Independence Movement patriot Dr. Kim Chang Sei. He was a brilliant physician and scientific researcher. He was also Dosan's brother-in-law. Dr. Kim's wife was the sister of Dosan's wife. Yi Hye Ryon aka Helen Ahn was a cook and cleaning lady in a hospital in the Pioneer Generation of Koreans in America. Please take a look at the link. Another episode of Dosan's amazing legacy.

Dr. Kim's work is impressive in the world history of medicine.

Please, do your best to stay healthy!!

KoreanAmericanHeritage.com presents our event review episode with many thanks to the KAHP team, guests, and supporters. We couldn't have done this without you. Here is a letter our very one John Kim wrote on KAHP behalf.

Korean American Heritage Podcast would like to thank each and every person who took the time to preregister and time out of their Saturday to attend our 100 Years of March First event yesterday. This event was for you, and it could not have been the resounding success that it was without all of your support and enthusiasm. It is our sincere hope that, through all the historical accounts, stories, and music that were shared throughout the day, you went back to your homes better informed, equipped, and encouraged to continue to seek out the absolute, unbiased truth, to never be afraid to ask the hard questions, to think and act critically, and ultimately, love yourself and others, and stand up and do what is right and just for all.

We would like to extend our special thanks to everyone who helped make the event what it was: our speakers Dr. William Chu, John Cha, Dave Young Kim, Han Kim, and Flip Cuddy; our musical guests Azra, UCLA Hanoolim Poongmul - 한울림 풍물, and Charles Lee featuring Trudi Henderson; our beautiful and amazing emcees Soo Lee, Ara An, and Jessica Kwen; our emcees' traditional wardrobe sponsor Lee Hwa Wedding & Traditional Korean Dress; to all of our staff volunteers; and last but not least, to the heroes who came before us - Yu Gwan Sun, Dosan Ahn Chang Ho, Chu Yo Han and the Waseda Korean Students Association, and everyone else who risked and gave up their lives for Korea's independence and freedom. We recognize and honor their sacrifice and legacy - let us continue to do what we can to fight the good fight and preserve our heritage that our forebears fought so hard to protect.

Here is the commemorative group picture that we took together yesterday. Let this be a reminder to us all to continue to love loudly and to live and do justly! (And tag yourselves - more event and photo booth pictures coming very soon!)

Again, it was such a pleasure having you join us in honoring and celebrating our history and culture - we sincerely can't thank you enough for your support. Let's keep the questions and conversations going with each other and on our podcast at koreanamericanheritage.com, and we look forward to hearing from you and seeing you (at our next event) again very soon!

With Utmost Gratitude,

KAHP Team

Who are doing amazing work and "carry the conviction that the center of the gospel is the message of peace and reconciliation. Recognizing Jesus’ ministry as one of peacemaking and desiring to follow the way of Jesus in community, ReconciliAsian aims to educate and promote the culture of peacemaking and reconciliation within the Korean community through the church." We talk about the current KA church community and more about the history of ReconciliAsian and connect their work with what Dosan did as well.
