In exploring how the ancients would have understood the Hebrew terminology used in both accounts, reconciling the two accounts is possible.

Jesus knew that everyone needed to discover and experience God’s love—regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, or reputation.

Week 5 of 5; Pastor Matthew concludes our series on James. The final chapter of this letter is an important reminder of what it means to put our faith into action. James talks about material wealth, calls us again to pursue patience and perseverance, encourages us to pray, and concludes it with an instruction to hold each other accountable.
Week 4 of 5; Ryan Hayes. In the fourth chapter of his letter, James addresses jealousy, pride, judgment, and boasting—and he warns us of the damaging effects of these poisons. He tells us that we need a humble heart and urges us to focus on responding to God by trusting him with what he’s doing in our own lives, one day at a time. Ryan challenged the group to talk about how selfish sins impact their relationship with God and others, and consider a practical plan on how to avoid them.
Week 3 of 5; Jennifer Burris continues the series on James. Words hold power. People sometimes throw around nicknames, insults, and phrases carelessly, not thinking about the negative impact. James reminds Christians to consider the weight of what they say, realizing that there is great power in our words. Jennifer challenged the teens to discover that their words bring either honor or dishonor, their words produce uncontrollable results, and wisdom can help them control their words.
Week 2 of 5; Katy McGrath continues our series on James by looking at chapter two. God wants everyone to believe in Him; He is looking for a real faith, something beyond, “I believe God exists.” Katy shows us in James 2 the depth of our faith is shown by actions and choices—how we respond to faith.
Week 1 of 5; Tracy Hayes kicks off our series on James. In his letter, James quickly begins with a teaching that’s counterintuitive: In the midst of trials, find joy. He encourages his readers to persevere because it helps produce spiritual maturity. In this message, Tracy shows how James offers wisdom and guidance about conquering trials and temptations, and we’ll discover how he challenges and reminds Christians to live out what they believe.
Week 4 of 4; Jay Parry finishes our series on the Gospel of Luke. The Son of God, Jesus, had a very human moment just before his sacrifice on the cross, which fulfilled His earthly mission. As Jesus was looking toward his own death, His plea to the Father revealed the ultimate picture of surrendering to God’s will and purpose. This week focuses on how Jesus’ tremendous love for us was displayed in His sacrificial death—the greatest act of friendship ever displayed.
Week 3 of 4; Jay Parry continues our series in the Gospel of Luke. This week focuses on three stories Jesus told to help us understand his passion for restoring our broken relationship with God. These stories about lost sheep, lost money, and a runaway son use concepts that Jesus’ audience would understand. These parables give us insight into Jesus’ compassion toward those who don’t know him. They also represent his feelings of frustration with the religious leaders who were lacking compassion.
Week 2 of 4; Pastor Matthew continues our series on Luke's gospel, this time looking at Jesus’ first visit to his hometown after the start of his public ministry. He already has been baptized and faced Satan’s temptation in the desert. The primary Scripture gives us a vivid view of Jesus as he declares that he has come to bring salvation to those who need it, followed by the people’s reaction to this news. Even today, followers of Jesus face opposition to the truth of Jesus’ message, and we need encouragement to stand up for what’s right, just like Jesus did.
Week 1 of 4; Pastor Matthew kicks off our new series on the Gospel of Luke by looking at a passage from Luke revealing the only picture we have of Jesus’ life between infancy and the start of his adult ministry. We might be surprised to think about Jesus wanting or needing to study the Scriptures, but He did, and His example reminds us of the importance of letting God’s Word guide our life. We also can pursue growth in all areas of our lives, following the pattern Jesus established.

Part 1 of 3; Jay Parry kicks off our weekend retreat by taking a closer look at who Jesus was and is, why we can believe in Him, and how that impacts us today!
All three student missions teams (Maine, Boston, Guatemala) gave reports during the first and second worship services on June 28th, 2015. This audio is all of the individual stories from the students from both hours combined into one file.
Week 1 of 6, Pastor Matthew. In opening week, Pastor Matthew looks at 1 Corinthians 1 and 5, showing the difference in God's wisdom and the world's wisdom and how that translates to thoughts on sexuality.
Week 3 of 3, Pastor Matthew. We conclude our series looking at the Old Testament books of first and second Chronicles by looking at 2 Chronicles 28-32, the story of Ahaz and his son Hezekiah. The pattern in Chronicles regarding the Kings of Judah is that they either tried to please God, tried to please God halfheartedly, or did not try to please God, and the resulting ramifications for the nation. While Ahaz was NOT pleasing to God, Hezekiah broke the mold and in many ways was reminiscent of the best qualities of his ancestors David and Solomon in his desire to honor God.

Week 6 of 6, Katy McGrath. Psalm 138. Throughout Scripture, we see examples of God’s desire to look after his children. God cares deeply for us, provides for us, and uses us to advance the kingdom. Psalm 138 offers a powerful expression of praise to God, including thanks for God-given purpose. Katy helps us think about our purpose in two ways: the overarching purpose of all Christians’ lives—to bring glory to God—and the unique purpose God has for each of us. We were challenged to think about our individual purposes in terms of the passions and gifts God has already given us, in the context of God’s provision in our lives.
Week 5 of 6, Matt Ousdahl. Psalm 101. We face tremendous pressure when it comes to standing up for our faith. Pursuing a life that honors God means making a commitment to that lifestyle and not allowing other people to become obstacles along the way. Matt O gives insight into what it looks like to strive for a God-centered life in the midst of a world that is anything but focused on God.
Week 4 of 6, Jay Parry. Psalm 22. There are times in our lives when God feels far away or when our prayers seem to “bounce off the ceiling.” We all have experienced times like this; David certainly did. But we can still find encouragement. Even though God may seem far away, He is still God and is still present. And God has a track record of remaining faithful.
Week 3 of 6, Katy McGrath. Psalm 51. We are all enemies of God because of our sin, but because of God’s great love, we can experience a restored relationship through Christ. Yet sin is something we must still contend with, because of our sin nature. Katy helps the group understand how they can approach God in dealing with their sin and how they can move forward in repenting of sin.
Week 2 of 6, Matt Ousdahl. Psalm 30. Matt O builds on ideas introduced in the previous week. When we turn to God with our prayers and God responds, how do we respond? The proper response is to praise God and give God thanks for answering a prayer, a need, or a concern—or for providing comfort during a difficult situation.
Week 1 of 6, Jay Parry. Psalm 3. “Drama” seems like an almost inevitable part of our experience, and while much of this drama is “normal” and relatively harmless, some is more sinister. What do we do when it seems like everyone is against us? Who do we turn to when friendships sour? Psalms 3 helps us understand what it means to turn to God when it feels like everyone else has turned against us.
Week 3 of 3. Pastor Matthew wraps up the series on first and second Kings by looking at the pattern of failure in all of Israel's kings, with a particular look at the final king. And yet, 2 Kings ends with hope for the coming Savior!

Week 3 of 3, Matt Ousdahl. The universal truth for all families is that they experience pain. The source of the pain may vary (divorce, death, drugs, abandonment, financial problems, etc.); however, God has a very clear roadmap for helping us deal with these issues. We need to discover the importance of drawing near to God, discovering his plan for their lives, and never giving up.

God created families and uses them as an illustration for how we belong to his family. The way we bring life to our family is by realizing that we can't control our family, but we can control our attitude toward it.
