Moving House! The time has come to pull up roots and hit the high road. Me & Mrs F have lived in our little apartment for over 20yrs. But due to rent increases and ever deteriorating air quality (which has resulted in me developing asthma, sinus problems & other respiratory seasonal issues) it's time to split this crazy scene daddyo.

We are heading back to the frozen North!

We are currently packing boxes - HURRAH! 😂

A few weeks ago, whilst out for a walk/jog thing by the river I did a little half hour podcast rambling on about it all.... it sounds like this...

How To Unblock A Sink - using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. We saw  this in a Readers Digest book and thought we'd give it a go! Remember  kids - don't try this at home without supervision! ;O) The basic chemical reaction is "acid +base = salt + water + CO2".  If you try this yourself PLEASE let me know how you get on - maybe even with a video reply of your own? ;)

This is my first video podcast. I thought I would introduce myself by showing the video I originally uploaded on YouTube where it is has had over 73,000 views. It's not very long - but it is very popular!

"A WESTERN CHRISTMAS IN THE OLD DAYS.

BY MRS. W. H. CORNING.

Christmas week there was no school, but such a succession of dining days, and visiting days, and day parties, and night parties, that Fanny, who looked forward to the week as a season of rest, thought that the regular routine of school duties would be less fatiguing. Christmas at La Belle Prairie was the one jubilee of the year, something to be talked about for six months beforehand, and to be remembered as long after. It was a time of feasting and recreation for both master and servant. Days before, preparations commenced in the kitchen. Various smells issued from thence—savory smells of boiled, baked, and roasted meats; and sweet delicious smells of warm pastry and steaming cakes. Aunt Tibby was rolling pie-crust or stirring cake all day long, and the chopping of sausage-meat, the pounding of spices, and the beating of eggs were constantly heard. Everything was carried on with the greatest secrecy. The children were all kept out of the kitchen, and when "somefin' good" was to be transferred therefrom to Miss Car'line's store-room, Aunt Tibby came sailing in, holding it high above the reach of the curious little heads...." ... this is an old Western Christmas story published in 1895. I thought it you'd like it. I've read all your emails & promise I'll be back in person real soon! For the moment - enjoy the story. And if you want to drop me a line you can do so at wrf@mail.com. Merry Christmas!

And here's a little podcast where I've taken extracted the video I publish on social media, exported it into the imovie app on my iphone, added a music sound track, saved the new video, extracted the audio from the video (using a free app called MyMp3), exported it into Anchor..... so here we are 👍😀.... enjoy! This is an audio rip of two short You Tube videos I did on a visit to the Roman Baths at Bath a few years back. The tour starts in the underground part of the building where the original Roman streets & pavements were. We then move outside to the main Roman Bath area - where I get to interview a guide called Carol. The tour continues around the main bath area & finally ends up with Carol again. Something different on WRF... A Polish Fairy Tale - Princess Miranda and Prince Hero...Far away, in the wide ocean there was once a green island where lived  the most beautiful princess in the world, named Miranda. She had lived  there ever since her birth, and was queen of the island. Nobody knew who  were her parents, or how she had come there. But she was not alone; for  there were twelve beautiful maidens, who had grown up with her on the  island, and were her ladies-in-waiting.......

Enjoy this wonderful Polish fairy tale by A. J. Glinski.

Back in 2001 I got involved in a charity called SCOPE and ended up on a 5 day/4 night trek up the Andes Mountains in Peru to the sacred Inca temple city of Machu Picchu. This 1:42:35s podcast - that's right - one hour and forty two minutes takes you through the whole adventure. It's in three parts:

  • Part One - (20 minutes) - All about how I got involved with Scope and how I ended up in Peru.
  • Part Two - (36 minutes) - Cusco & coca leaves.
  • Part Three - (46 minutes) - The Trek. Camps, hiking, Machu Picchu, hints and tips - and oodles to great stories and audio content from the trip itself.

If you haven't done this trek yet - do it now. If you have done this trek - I hope you've found this podcast brought back memories and made you smile.

So I arrived in Los Angeles after three long days on a Greyhound Bus. What a journey that was! (You'll have to go back to Part One to listen about that).

Now it was time to experience the Land Of Fruit & Nuts - sunny California and all it had to offer.

What happens in this show? I changed my name once (nearly twice!), almost get ripped to pieces, and find myself in the Beverly Hills Yacht Club!

All good fun. Listen here, comment and enjoy: https://wrf-podcast.blogspot.com/

And in the true spirit of keeping it free. Here's a few tracks I used from the Free Music Archive :

This one I used in all it's entirety:

The Balloon by Oblivian Substanshall

And here's a few that I used bits from:

American Dream by Cletus Got Shot

Stranger Danger by Thee Irma & Louise

Irish Washerwoman by Howie & Ann Mitchell

Drunken Sailor by Roger McGuinn

The End by Happy Elf

Down By The River Thames - Not quite Laurie Lee style, more like jolly hiker mode - I set off for a brisk walk on this sprightly winter’s afternoon. Little did I know just how COLD (!) it was out there. Equally - I ran out of battery on my phone as well - unheard-of I know - but it really happened. So I could have edited this and stuck a “proper” ending on this - but I didn’t. I want all my shows to be as natural as possible. So as much as it was a surprise to me that my phone suddenly died on me - it will equally be a surprise for you when I suddenly stop talking and it’s the end of the show ... a kind of “Podcast Musical Chairs” 😀👍

Everyone was talking about doing podcasts on YouTube and saving the audio and blah, blah, blah. And I thought - "Wait a minute - I've got loads of Facebook Livefeed videos where I'm just wandering around describing things. They'd make cool little podcasts?!"

So, this is the first one from a business trip to a small market town called Stamford up in the county of Lincolnshire, England back in the Winter of 2016.

The "back story" behind this is that I'd just finished dinner in my hotel, and I went out to find a shop to purchase a bottle of water (at a much cheaper price than in the hotel). I also wanted to get out and discover the town. As it happens... well... you'll listen to what happens.

Note: Throughout the audio you you'll hear me pause and then answer someone or make a comment to someone - that's me reading the comments on my iPhone from people who were viewing the live video.

This podcast also hails the introduction of my new rebranded intro and intro - "WRF".

Please go over to my website and leave a comment there: https://wrf-podcast.blogspot.com/ - let me know what you think. And thanks for listening :)

Dreams - As Bill Shakespeare once said: “We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep.” So I wanted to talk about dreams. About my dreams. And the whole concept of dreaming. We spend a third of our life in bed - generally asleep. What a wholly useless waste of time. I’m so glad for my Dream Land. Unaccustomed as I am to public speaking - ha ha. It is mid January 2019 and I still find myself without a full recording voice. So - I have scraped together some deleted iPhone memo recordings where things went a bit wrong...!.. (3.5 minutes worth 😀👍) and have packaged them together here in the Anchor app. I will admit this is just a shameless excuse to publish SOMETHING until the full voice arrives. (The last minute of this is an actual “Pocket Recording”... lol...) Enjoy. And hopefully I’ll be back soon!

"American Life" by Silence is Sexy

"I Hate America" by Moms Jeans

"California" by The Spectacular Fantastic

"L.A." by the Nighttime Adventure Society

And finally this last track I did a couple of 15 second samples from:

"Americana Jam" by The Underscore Okestra

After only spending a short time on the Anchor.fm podcast platform I've come across some really cool podcasts & podcasters. This podcast is a review of the current "Magnificent Seven Podcasts" that I've found so far. Each in their own way has something that appeals to me - that makes me want to go back and listen to them again.

I hope the podcasts I've reviewed like what I've said about them!

And after you've listened to them I'm sure you'll agree they were worthy to be in my first "Magnificent Seven Podcast Review" and that they'll become your favourite as well.

Twas the Summer of 1983 as four fine young strapping lads set off on a hitch-hike to the South of France from the North of England. The Fab Fours French Frolic - Part Un dealt with the hitch-hike down to Le Sud. Part Deux sees what happened after we left Avignon... where we went... what we did... and how we met Jim Morrison. This was a truly great adventure in my life. A trip that I Iook back on with fond memories and strange twitch anytime someone mentions ravioli.

So I was driving home...stuck in a 2 hour traffic jam... and I started to think about Christmas and what it meant when I was younger. Ideally I should have been sitting in front of a warm log fire, sipping brandy, and recounting tales of my Christmas youth with joy & merriment. In reality I was stuck on the M11 motorway heading south rambling away to myself like a madman! :) Anyway - an "Early Merry Christmas" to you all!
